Post by Zurui on Sat Oct 13, 2018 10:15 am

    Spoiler:
    Mission Name: Slay the Wyrm
    Mission Type: Joint Assassination
    Mission Rank: B
    Mission Goal: Slay the Wyrm
Description: Some recent activity has caused a large fictional creature to awaken near a long abandoned Uchiha Fortress in the Land of Fire. Konohagakure has requested Kirigakure aid to meet with their representative and handle the beast before it becomes a serious problem. So far, it hasn't ventured far from the fortress, but has been attacking caravans and people that venture too close. Take care it.
    Payment: 25,000 Ryo
    Requirements: Jounin or 2+ Chuunin

Once more did Zurui find himself looking down upon the once great fortress of the once great Uchiha Clan. Last time he was here, he'd helped to save a princess and may have, off handedly and without direct involvement of course, through no fault of his own, awakened a slumbering beast that laid waste to the bandits in the castle. This beast then went on to claim the fortress and the surrounding territory for itself, which was apparently a bad thing to the other villages. Unlike the Wyvern case, Zurui's name was all over this mission, since he'd been the last one here with Akihiro, so the mission to take care of the Wyrm was naturally assigned directly to him. So he put in a request for his usual partner to meet him out here, near one of the larger trees that overlooked the castle. This was apparently instruction enough for the tree folk in the leaf village. If it were Zurui, he'd be lost as soon as he hit the Land of Fire's border.

One of the larger trees that surrounded the large Uchiha castle? Sure, Akihiro knew where that was! The young boy had no trouble finding this tree and nearby it, Zurui. It was kind of embarrassing that they had to clean up their own mess like this, but hey at least they were getting handsomely paid for doing so! That was more than could be told about many of the cleaning ladies in Konoha whose paycheck was way below the thousands of ryo they were receiving for doing this. To be fair tho, most they had to deal with was a few coffee stains... Akihiro and Zurui would be having to kill a rather annoying wyrm. The fact that this thing could spit fire and had absolutely murdered the entire gang which once inhabited the fortress was also rather discouraging. But alas, they were ninjas.

"Yo. Ready to face that fancy wyrm again? I think we should name it." It was said that naming animals made them a lot harder to kill. But Akihiro wasn't really confident that would be the case in this scenario. After allthat thing had tried to kill them several times. Perhaps telling it their names would make things easier?

"What, do you plan on keeping it?" Zurui replied. A pet wyrm could be a neat thing, though he couldn't imagine the food bill on that thing. Imagine going out on missions, though, and just sicking your giant wyrm on the enemy. You could sit back and sip drinks while it did all the heavy lifting for you and came back with the reward. Although, he supposed that's what summoning users got to experience. Maybe he'd have to look into that at some point, if he happened across it. There were many powers in this world and many were priority to him, but not quite as much the completion of himself. That alone was a monumental task. Trying to hunt for things like animals to make a summoning pact with would just waste what valuable time and resources he had already tasked to finding and obtaining the rest of his power that others were allowed to borrow for a short while.

"Guess we should get started," said the Jounin, looking at the castle. There was no sign of the wyrm yet, but he had a pretty good idea on how to draw the thing out, especially since he's the one that did it the first time.

"Keeping it might not be such a bad idea." Akihiro commented. He imagined his life with a Wyrm as a pet...he would certainly have to find a new house, or at least a place to keep it. Another problem would be feeding the bastard. Last time this thing had eaten an entire party of fat bandits and was still hungry enough to chase after the two ninjas. As Konohagakure no Sato's main strategist Akihiro had a good salary, but it was nowhere near good enough to feed a beast that ate like that. Not to mention the whole act of feeding it would put his life in danger every single time he did it. On the bright side, it would surely be enough to motivate him to improve his physical abilities.

"On second thought...nah, let's just kill it." Ah, the sound of reason within Akihiro's mind. Akihiro's glance turned towards the fortress, its walls and gates more familiar than before. "So how do you want to do this? Do you want to take the fight inside the fortress or should we attempt to draw it out somehow?" It was a fair question. In one hand, last time they fought inside the fortress and that thing not only tried to eat them but it also damaged the castle quite a lot. The Uchiha wouldn't be happy with more damage even if it wss an ancient fortress. On another hand, if that thing came out and set fire to the forest they would have a huge problem on their hands- of another sort.

For a moment there, Zurui actually considered the benefit of housing such a creature. He almost agreed and devoted to capturing it for a pet, but his senses came over him and his focus shifted back to killing it. An enclosed space may be a bad idea, especially considering that, the last time they were here, it managed to climb up on to even the highest points of the forest. "The forest would be more to our advantage. Its ability to climb could cause us trouble, though I don't see a way to work around its burrowing." He looked to the landscape. The last time they drew it out, they were well within its path and very nearly eaten before even starting on their mission. They'd be better off using a different method this time. "What would you suggest to draw it out to the forest?"

"Well, it's been sitting on that fortress for weeks now...it must be hungry." Akihiro commented. "Perhaps we could draw it out with the scent of food?" it wasn't a bad idea. "It worked last time I had to lure an animal." Akihiro would cheerfully say, then placing his hand under his chin and making yet another comment. "Of course last time I had to lure a small dog to the training grounds and now we're tasked with luring a large mythological creature which breathes fire and eats men alive. But. You know. Potato potatoes." He shrugged. Hunting down the Lost Pet Chinatsu was a pain in the ass of a mission because the dog kept running away. Akihiro had a feeling that this time that wouldn't happen. Chances were this time they'd be the ones running from the creature, just in case the trap didn't work. Speaking of which...

"There're plenty of deer in the forest we can use as bait. A single one should suffice. But we should probably considering laying down a trap for wyrm. I don't want to have to fight this thing directly."

Zurui considered the options they had for traps that might affect a burrowing wyrm. Normally, he'd make a big pit and fill it with fire and stone, but the wyrm would probably just burrow through it and escape. That left Doton pretty much entirely out of the picture. Maybe he could use Raiton? There was a barrier technique he knew and all it required was three metal conductors to serve as points for an electric triangle. They'd need to secure the ground, though, so it didn't just burrow underneath. Maybe a secondary, underground trap?

"I'll go fetch the deer, then. Can you manage to set out three metal conductors? I've got a Lightning Jutsu that may work. Just need to come up with a backup in case it goes beneath the electric cage." The Jounin said before heading out into the forest. When he returned, he'd have a deer or two. Not entirely sure how he was going to carry it back, but where there's a will, right?

Slay the Wyrm Empty Re: Slay the Wyrm

Post by Zurui on Sat Nov 03, 2018 12:46 pm

Zurui trudged through the woods, seeking his prey. Only a few minutes in, and he spotted it. A deer, gentle and graceful, feeding upon the forest's lush grass. It seemed that the wyrm wasn't doing too much damage to the area, else the wildlife would've abandoned these parts. It was lucky for him.

A brief movement caught his attention. From within a nearby tree, somebody was moving. Zurui looked to that person, and they looked back. Then they looked to the deer. Zurui followed with his gaze and suddenly put two and two together. They were going to steal his deer!

The Jounin unleashed a shuriken as quick as he could. With three solid thuds, the creature went down without any chance for escape. Zurui rushed to its side, and there he met the Anbu squad.

"Sorry bud, this one's ours." A tall, built man spoke from behind his animal mask.

"Like hell it is. I saw it first!" Came the, in hindsight, childish response from the masked Jounin.

"Hey, it's okay. Both of you killed it, but maybe you can let us have it. "Replied a shorter masked woman. "We need it as bait to draw out a big creature in these parts that's been terrorizing the locals."

"Ah, then our goals align. I'm from the Hidden Mist and I've been partnered up with a Chuunin from your village to kill that creature." Zurui said, relieved that this argument would go no further.

"Ah, so you're one of the guys that unleashed that thing." Accused the masked man.

Zurui couldn't help but pout his lips behind his mask. It was true, and he really didn't have a response to it. "Well, maybe we can work toge-"

He was suddenly cut off when the ground beneath the deer erupted with the gaping maw of the wyrm. The Anbu all rushed out of the way but Zurui, being less...physically inclined, was caught up with the deer. One swift crunch and his ribs were cracked. You wanna talk about pain? He couldn't even manage a scream it hurt so bad. He was lucky the Anbu attacked it on site and forced it to flee, else he would've been killed and eaten by the thing.

The Anbu jumped back to his side and the woman immediately began applying healing energy to Zurui. He was shaking with the pain, but she at least managed to stabilize him. "I won't be able to fix him completely," she started, "he'll need to be taken to a proper facility."

The taller man, left of the group of five, considered the situation. "A Kiri Jounin was supposed to be assigned to this area. If he's here with one of our Chuunin, then it's probably him." He reasoned. With an alliance between their villages, it would be beneficial to have this man patched up in Konoha, to solidify the alliance. He may have to be transported to Kiri for long term recovery, but the immediate procedure would look very good on Konoha if they completed it. Otherwise, he'd probably have a long, uncomfortable hobble back home.

"Kobo, take him to the Konoha Hospital." He said. They could spare one man and still continue the mission, though it may be harder now that the wyrm had been wounded. It would be less likely to come out until its wounds healed, and it would probably fight like a cornered animal.

Kobo scooped up Zurui and mad a run for the village, leaving his four comrades to deal with the monster. He, too, was certain they could pull it off.

Slay the Wyrm Empty Re: Slay the Wyrm

Akihiro ended up following Zurui into the woods when more than half an hour passed and he stil hadn't returned. It shouldn't take that long for a shinobi to hunt a simple deer, especially considering we were talking about a shinobi who was able to use sensory. So something must've definitely gone wrong.

It didn't take long for the squad of ANBU to find Akihiro. Upon listening to their explanation on the current situation, the Uchiha raised an eyebrow. It was odd that such a mission had been assigned both to regular shinobi and ANBU, perhaps there had been some sort of bureaucratic mistake? This was a serious problem if that was the case. Akihiro sighed, he would have to return to the village and sort this all out whenever he had the time. In the meantime, the ANBU squad had managed to corner the wyrm with a lot of effort, but they were all exhausted and were having trouble delivering the killing blow. Analyzing the situation, Akihiro signalled the ninjas to clear out of the area where they were engaging the wyrm physically with swords and kunais and running a lot of risks.

As soon as they cleared out and the beast was cornered against a hill, Akihiro release Great Fire Annihilation and ended it. And that was it.

He would go back to the village, to maybe visit Zurui at the hospital.
