    Yuki Clan (Ice Release) 6681727

    Clan Name: Yuki
    Clan Location: Kirigakure
Bloodline Name: Ice Release (氷遁, Hyōton)
    Bloodline Type: Kekkei Genkai
Current Clan Leader: Yamato Yuki (NPC)

    Clan History

The Yuki have a fairly unremarkable history, save for some bright spots. They began as a trading clan before the Sage came to be, being driven out of their homes just before his birth. It was at this point that their reputation as a mercenary force was born, as the clan had to become mercenaries just to survive. When the Sage began to teach, the entire clan moved out of the Land of Water for decades to follow him and learn the ways on Ninshu with full intentions on utilizing chakra as a way to enhance their martial abilities. They were not expecting to become masters of an element no other clan could use however, and they have spent centuries refining their mastery of their kekkei genkai.

The Yuki were often hired to fight small scall wars in the Land of Water archipelago, and were sometimes hired out by a mainland contractor to fight in larger wars. They've come into open conflict with probably every single clan in the archipelago at one point or another, and have worked for or alongside them just as often. Their loyalty was to the clan and the people paying them, with the Hōzuki being a particularly regular customer.

The Yuki decided to join Kirigakure when the Hōzuki offered them the chance. The warrior clan had been friends with the remaining pirate clans who had ceded their authority to the Hōzuki, leaving them alone against a nation. The choice was fairly clear. That clan had come to possess the entirety of the archipelago simply by being stronger than everybody else, though not all clans within the lands had sworn fealty yet. This village would be a way for these clans to come together with the Hōzuki without setting aside their pride while still retaining a semblance of independence. The Yuki resettled in what was to become Kirigakure, aiding in its initial construction and being one of the first in the village once it was complete.

Great warriors have been produced by the clan over the years, with the most recent example being Nikuyo Yuki. He is the second Mizukage, having slain the first after some... personal disagreements led to Ayame Hōzuki's passing. This strained relations between the clans for a few years, but eventually the deed was forgotten since Ayame was kind of a dick anyways.

Clan members like to dress for combat, many wearing their flak jacket at all times even when not on duty. They wear it under their clothing often times, just in case something happens so that they can be the first ones on the scene. The blood of the warrior still flows through the veins of the Yuki, and many of their decisions in relation to the village tend to be on the side of violence so they may relive their glory days. The young are restless, and the old want to go out the way their ancestors did.

    Clan Traits & Characteristics

Most Yuki are warriors, with the clan's very early history comprised of trading. This was dashed early on the the history of the archipelago before even Hagoromo was born, and after fleeing the clan was forced to hire themselves out as mercenaries for cash. The tradition has continued ever since, and has become the defining characteristic of what it means to be a Yuki. Yuki dress in plain clothing and typically have very dark colored or snow-white hair. Most members are not especially large, though there are exceptions. Many have full sets of battle armor from the days before the shinobi villages that has only recently been replaced with flak jackets. Some still wear this armor, just like in every other land.

    Bloodline Description & Abilities

Ice Release is the combined nature transformation kekkei genkai of the Yuki clan. It allows the user to freely create and manipulate ice by simultaneously combining wind and water-based chakra. When the user releases their chakra, the surrounding vicinity becomes cold enough to cause snow to fall. The ice created is also extremely resistant to fire-based attacks, only melting slightly when coming into contact with flames. Members of this clan are noted for their ability to freeze any nearby water, making them exceptionally powerful in a land dominated by the seas.

Ice Release costs 1,000 experience to unlock after the user has the required elements of Suiton and Fuuton in their possession. Ice Release techniques count as one rank higher against Katon and Scorch, one rank lower against Doton, Steel, and Lava. Ice Release techniques specifically utilizing the temperature lowering aspect of Ice Release instead are not weak to Steel, but instead cause Steel users to receive a one minus penalty to Coordination when they turn their skin into Steel. This is because cold makes metal less flexible and thus impedes movement for Steel users more than it would for normal shinobi.

Clan members with the Kekkei Genkai unlocked have the ability to exert their chakra constantly to lower the temperature in the thread they're in and cause snow to fall. This ability has a constant upkeep of one stamina point per post. Any actual technique that causes a shift of weather takes priority over this ability.

Using existing ice reduces the cost of any Ice Element technique by one rank if it doesn't already require pre existing ice. Clan members may also manipulate snow, as that is just a bunch of tiny ice flakes.

Ice Release has a durability of A+

    Bloodline Limits & Drawbacks

Ice Release is difficult to use in environments that are more arid or hot than usual, such as the entirety of the Land of Wind. In such conditions, Ice Release techniques cost one rank more stamina to use. Other drawbacks are noted in the previous section.
