History: Kai was born and raised in the village of Kumogakure. His father, Kaido Yasutora, is an esteemed engineer always working on ‘the next big thing’ he hopes will improve the lives of everyone who lives there. He runs his own business taking contracts from anyone, rich or poor. His mother, Mino Yasutora, works as a shinobi of the village who specializes in kugutsu, the art of puppetry and trap making. Growing up, both parents doted on him and did their best to show him how to do what they did. While Kai showed promise at engineering and his father hoped that when he was old enough his son would join him in the family business, his mother’s trade was the one Kai really took to.
By the age of five, Kai had already mastered using chakra threads for basic things the way his mother had shown him. By the time he was ten, he had already assisted Mino in designing and crafting over half a dozen puppets for her to use. Working alongside his mother like that had quickly become Kai’s favorite hobby, though he didn’t get to do it as often as he’d like because of all the time she spent off on missions. So, he helped out with his father’s engineering business whenever Mino was away on a mission. His father had still been holding out hope that maybe one day his son would step up and take over the business, but when Kai turned seventeen he finally made the decision to join the academy and follow in his mother’s footsteps.
For two years Kai studied and trained at Kumogakure’s ninja academy. He thrived in some aspects and struggled with others, but his decision had been made and he was determined to become a shinobi like his mother. Finally, after two long years, Kai had made it to graduation. He was given a shinobi headband standard for that of Kumogakure and promoted to the rank of Genin. He still had much further to go in front of him and he planned on always getting stronger, but he had completed the first step in becoming a worthwhile shinobi and puppet master.
Personality: Kai values nothing more than his family and his village. His father, Kaido, is an esteemed engineer for Kumogakure who is always working on the next big design that he thinks would help to improve the lives of everyone that live there. When he isn’t working or training, he can usually be found tinkering with his puppets or working on new designs. When he is working, his comrades find him easy to talk to and very reliable when it comes to analyzing a situation and providing backup with his puppets whenever it’s needed.
