She wears worn clothing due to her low standard of living. Most often, she wears a dark grey, hooded sweater with the white vest typical to Kumo shinobi and dark pants.
She tends to have a somewhat angry look pinching her expression and highlighting how thin her face is. Her body language is often hunched and drawn inward, as though Oriana is preparing to drop and curl into a ball to defend her head and torso.
Though she doesn't have many nice things, Oriana is always clean, even for a person living in poverty. Her hands are often reddened from excessive scrubbing and her nails are trimmed short. Despite her messy haircut, her pink locks are always clean and untangled, suggesting some level of pride in her appearance--or obsession with hygiene.
History: Parentless and with no known living relatives, Oriana went to Kumo's ninja academy in hopes of escaping the abusive and overcrowded orphanage just outside the village proper. Though homeless and with little to her name, Oriana worked hard and often did odd jobs to get by. When she was twelve, she discovered she could sell sexual favors for more money. Though it was disgusting to her, she did it because it was better than starving and her patrons often bought her nice clothes and gave her extra money as gifts.
She became a genin and tried to leave her former side-job behind. D-rank missions were enough to keep her hunger pains away and, sometimes, sleep indoors. The temptation of being able to afford somewhere warm to sleep drew her back into prostitution, however, and before long, Oriana was kidnapped. Despite being a trained ninja, she was still weak due to being so inexperienced.
A team of genin headed by a joining were sent on a mission to break up some brothels known to be connected to a human trafficking ring. Importantly, one of their targets was the brothel where Oriana was trapped. The pink haired young woman used their mission to escape and help kill off the men and women who had held her captive and used her. Once the dust settled, the joining recognized her as one of a few genin who had gone missing and Oriana was brought back to Kumo with the group.
While the others tried to talk with or comfort Oriana, she responded to any attempts to interact with her with hostility. With glares, biting, and even hisses she tried to push them away.
Mako, one of the genin on the team, would have none of it. He told the team that he would deal with her, tired of her antics, and with a cuff to the back of her head told her to suck it up and stop slowing them down. Oriana agreed to come quietly as long as no one touched her or tried to make her talk about what had happened. Just like that, Oriana gained her first ally.
Personality:
Oriana is a stubbornly independent young woman who dislikes relying on others for anything. Though brutally practical, it doesn't stop the idea of owing someone anything from chafing at her. The pink haired teen is clever out of necessity, needing to learn to be observant and quick witted in order to survive poverty as a young child and keep herself alive after escaping a life of use and abuse.
Loyal only to herself, Oriana is a shrewd person and doesn't trust easily. She can work with others to get something she wants or needs, but prefers to be alone otherwise. The thing she wants most is to be left alone. However, needing to support herself necessarily means interacting with other people.
Stiff and formal with other people, Oriana prefers to keep everyone at arm's length both in relationships and physically. Touching Oriana outside the context of a fight or training makes her very defensive and could trigger violent behavior. Everything about her is a product of adjusting to a harsh life and watching her back constantly.
Though she still has ample knowledge of how to use her body for money, Oriana prefers any other option, stealing and killing included. Her time in the brothel has given her an intense dislike of people expressing any form of attraction to her.
