• +1050 (Starter)
• +3000 (Unique Ability)
• -8350 (Stats)
• -6000 (Bloodline)
= 1700/15000
Unique Abilities:
The Long Journey: Years spent away from home have given Kazuya more experience than even his peers, increasing his starting total by 3000. Learning reaches limits, however, and for Kazuya, his is nearing. He starts with a 4500 Experience Point debt and experience from all sources is counted towards that debt until it’s fully paid
The Heat of Battle: Occasionally, Kazuya will enter into a focused state when engaged in important or thrilling battles. His Speed increases by one tier in response, but his mind isolates its function to thinking on his feet, thereby reducing his Intelligence by one tier. This state can be engaged at any time, but once active, it only ends when the battle does.
Array of Skills: Due to his many adventures and his fairly wide selection of abilities, Kazuya has accustomed himself to very specific uses of his skillset, weaker than normal in some areas but stronger in others. When using Genjutsu that don't involve his Doujutsu, Kazuya's Intelligence increases by one Tier, but his Perception decreases by one Tier. His Intelligence also increases by one Tier when using Fuuinjutsu, but his Coordination decreases by one Tier -this is also true when tampering with other people's Fuuinjutsu.
Power Unleashed: As one of the first people to master the Eight Gates, Kazuya has learned to manipulate their power in a different way. Being of lesser durability than most, he has devised a way to redirect that power inward and enhance the time with which he can use it. As Kazuya opens his inner gates, he can devote 30 points of Stamina to his body, increasing his maximum usage of the technique by two posts for every time he does this. As this is a costly move, he can quickly exhaust himself just to maintain that hidden power.
Unshakeable Bond: As a near equal to Kazuya and his only remaining family, Kazuo Uchiha is second in command of the Uchiha Clan and is sometimes left in charge to handle matters that Kazuya is too busy to take care of himself. Otherwise, he functions as a close ally and confidant to the Hokage, and as such is considered as an A-Class Guard NPC that reduces the rank/class of anything that fights against him by one for the purposes of autohitting. As expected, he must be registered and can only be assigned to one location per month, but his upkeep is 30,000 Ryo per month. Any month not paid means that Kazuo cannot function as an A-Class NPC, but instead as a personal NPC to Kazuya. This upkeep must be paid by Kazuya, meaning that if he ever ceases to be Hokage, he will need to use his personal funds, though he retains control of assigning Kazuo’s monthly guard posts. Kazuo begins with the normal experience for an A-Class NPC and can allocate up to 2000 points more, but only so long as they come from Kazuya.
Appearance:
Kazuya’s skin is fair, with a clear complexion and his long and black, as is common among the Uchiha Clan. He tends to keep his hair in a ponytail at the base of head, while leaving several strands to hang in front, almost framing his face. His eyes are as black as his hair when his Dojutsu is inactive, though when it is, they bear the red base with the three tomoe standard for his level of development.
His garb is sometimes a black short sleeve shirt with elongated collars common in his clan, complete with an Uchiha symbol on the back. He may switch with a blueish shirt that has no collar when wearing his black and red robes. Unlike the ones you may be familiar with, his bear no clouds and no symbols. When on official village business, he may wear his Hokage robes, a haori with “First Hokage” stitched to the back in Kanji and unbound at the front, revealing whatever shirt he happens to be wearing that day. In any case, his pants are black and full length, covering the tops of his shinobi sandals.
The man’s musculature is nothing impressive, his build exemplary of one focused on rapid, agile movements over raw power. Despite this, he is not excessively scrawny, with enough muscle to appear toned without also seeming built. There are a number of scars along his back and abdomen, remnants of his past. It’s for this reason he rarely disrobes his shirt. His back is also often covered by a Gunbai, staff, or sword, depending on what he’s in the mood to wield on any given day, though the rest of his weapons are always on hand within seals scattered about his person and clothing.
History:
Personality:
Kazuya is, for the most part, a gentle and caring person. He is slow to anger and he forgives as often as he can, but he understands that, as both Uchiha Leader and Hokage, some things cannot be let go without taking appropriate measures. In general, he dislikes the idea of grudges and holds no innate dislike for any person. He’s learned throughout his adventures that good people come in all kinds of packages, from hardened criminals to good friends, but he also knows that the opposite can be true. While every person may be good deep within, they can have a cold exterior, and exhibit those qualities that he generally dislikes. Though it may not seem like it, he doesn’t dislike these kinds of people, merely the qualities they exhibit.
He is similarly prone to appear cold on the outside, as a logical and overall stern individual. While he treats the members of Konoha and especially the Uchiha as family, he does not hold the same sentiment for those outside of his village, or those that actively betray his village, because an assault against his village is an against his family, which is much worse than an assault against him. He is especially prone to anger with people that betray their own, be it village or clan, for those aren’t people that can be trusted and the offense they have committed is not something that should exist in this world. For this reason, he can sometimes be very slow to trust a person, but his trust is strong until it is broken. Once broken, it’s not easily regained, no matter how small or insignificant the lie.
Kazuya holds some ties to the lands he’s visited in the past. He has a general dislike for Kirigakure, but holds Uzushiogakure and Kusagakure in high regard. Other villages are mostly unknown to him except in reputation, but he is one to judge in person and not by word of mouth or rumor. With the exception of the two mentioned, Kazuya can seem particularly cold to members of the other villages, for while he considers war a travesty, he is not above doing whatever it takes to secure the future of his village and his people.
With extreme focus and precision on tasks at hand, Kazuya has the uncanny ability to push out all distractions and do what he must in any situation. This can be great when determining tactics and strategy against invading forces or determining plans for bolstering the village in some way, but it can be a hindrance in battle. This focus increases his fighting ability, but prevents him from making the many minute judgement calls a fight can have with his usual detail. It’s an unfortunate trait and is the reason he tends not to place too much of his focus onto any given fight, as it can easily lead to trouble not only for himself, but those around him.

History:
- Spoiler:
- The pain filled screams of a woman in labor broke the silence of the otherwise still, silent night. Under the moonlight of the starry summer sky, a small cottage in the midst of a great forest played host to a young couple about to yield the first of their offspring. Jinichi was a young man in those days and though he was not yet officially appointed, his name was next in line to succeed his father as leader of the Clan. Azami was his wife, a woman slightly younger than her husband and of no noble birth, though her particular family had long been known as some of the more blessed with the Kekkei Genkai of the Clan. She was the perfect match for the next successor, but it was a love story like most of the modern era that brought the two together. Theirs was a love not bound by any arrangement, but by the entwining of their hearts, a factor most important to Jinichi, for he wanted a strong and loving family above all things.
The war had taken much of the Clan’s resources and fighters, with many battles over the course of Jinichi’s two decades that beckoned him to fight. He, like many of his brethren, began training under his father and his uncles as soon as he was able to walk, for the war was longstanding, and the Clan would need every warrior it could muster in order to win. On top of this, he was the destined heir of the Clan, and it would not do to have a future leader be anything but the strongest. Azami’s life held a similar tone, though it was only at age five that her family determined the necessity of her participation in the war. Though a female and typically of a lesser warrior breed than the males, she was no weaker than any of them, save perhaps the primary line of succession.
Battles raged day and night, with only several days’ respite before the next one ensued, and this night was no exception. Just a few kilometers out, the Clan waged war with their lifelong rivals, but Jinichi had more pressing matters to attend to, and left his position as general to his brother, Jinpachi. The war was important and though this was a key battle, the soon to be father would not abandon his wife in her time of need, but above all, he would see the birth of his first son. While there existed no method of determining the nature of an unborn child, it was common knowledge that the eldest son of the primary line of succession would always bear three male children, and nothing more. So, on this night in the year 897, Kazuya Uchiha took his first breath.
Not six months into infancy, Kazuya took his first steps, and while that act alone is enough to make any father proud, Jinichi included, it was the sign that it was time for the boy’s training to begin, and so it did. Jinichi devoted what time he could spare into his firstborn son, forsaking what battles he could and leaving Jinpachi to train his child when the call to war could not be ignored. Meals and nights were all that he could spend with his wife, but their bond was strong, and she knew well the duty of the Clan heir.
A year into Kazuya’s training, his younger brother, Kazuo, was born. Jinichi was present for this important moment as well, and while no battle raged that particular day, he wouldn’t have missed it for anything. This wasn’t his firstborn son, but it was still his son, and family meant everything to him. Kazuya bore no ill feelings towards the birth of his brother, but rather looked forward to the bond they would share. His father trained him sternly and pushed him beyond his limits, but throughout all of that, many lessons of family were taught and the bonds between he and his parents grew ever stronger. If there was anything Jinichi could pass to his children, beyond even power, it was the importance of family.
Once Kazuo began to walk, his training began as well, and it was perhaps even more intense than Kazuya’s, because it was Kazuya who engaged in spar-like sessions with Kazuo, where children barely able to mouth words wrestled with each other with all the ferocity they had, but without holding back. Kazuya did the same with his father and uncle, but they held back tremendously so as to rightly mold the child. The two boys learned and grew together, with Kazuya well outpacing Kazuo due simply to the extra two years. Kazuo never liked to admit it, but it took him twice as long to find his legs as it did his older brother.
Three years after Kazuo’s birth came the youngest, Kazutoshi. And with this child came also the appointment of Jinichi as leader of the Uchiha Clan. His father was a colder man than he, but he cared for his son and honored his wishes as best he could, and so he awaited the day the Jinichi’s family became complete before passing his birthright to him, a position of leadership that would take many days away from his family. In Jinichi’s sporadic absences, though, the boys’ Grandfather stepped in to a more active role with his grandchildren. While he loved all of his many descendants, it was no secret that he favored Kazuya and his brothers above all, for they were the legacy of the Uchiha Clan.
By the age of ten, Kazuya was called to endure his first battle, with Kazuo at his side. The Hyuga had struck close to home, where the Uchiha had settled their territory in the Southwest. It took the Clan by surprise, that such a large enemy group had broken through so many of their defenses, so it was by emergency that the warriors not already in battle engage this enemy, but the numbers were lacking, for another battle with the Hyuga was already under way towards the North, so even the younger members were called. The two brothers answered with excitement, anxious to test their strength on the battlefield alongside their Grandfather.
War was nothing like they expected, though. Kazuya and Kazuo were very well trained for their age, but against Hyuga shinobi, who had not only been trained but also experienced dozens of battles for themselves, they were outmatched. Their Grandfather knew this, however, and stayed by their side so that they could support him, as they would surely lose if they fought on their own. Even he, with his Three Tomoe Sharingan, was overwhelmed by the sheer number of the Hyuga forces, and he fell. The brothers, witnessing this, awakened their Sharingan for the first time, and fought with all their might. In unison, like their many practice sessions against Dad and Grandfather, they were able to conquer a few strong Hyuga, but it was a hopeless fight. They would have died there were it not for the flanking charge made by their father, who had received word of the attack and rushed South as fast as he could with many of the Uchiha forces. It might well have cost them the Northern battle, but defending their home was a far greater priority.
Jinichi and Jinpachi laid their father to rest, where their younger brother was buried many years prior. It was then, at the cemetery, that the war became all too real for Kazuya and Kazuo, and while the former began to develop feelings of resentment towards war itself, Kazuo was fostering a hatred for the Hyuga. Training became all the more important to the two of them, and they competed with each other with great ferocity. Jinichi was proud of the boys, and used their increased motivation to further improve them, as well as Kazutoshi. The youngest of the three hadn’t experienced battle for himself and he had not the strength of motivation that his elders had, but he exhibited a raw talent unlike any before him. It was only by witnessing the death of their Grandfather that Kazuya and Kazuo awakened their Doujutsu, but Kazutoshi did so by mere training. What’s more, his mastery of the Sharingan very quickly caught up to his siblings’, who were months ahead in the development of their eyes.
Before long, it was no longer Kazuya and Kazuo that made a deadly team, but all three brothers that could function as one unit and defeat any obstacle they faced. Together, they engaged in many missions that Uchiha several years their better had already failed, or refused to even try. It was this combined power that Jinichi hoped would help win a decisive battle against the Hyuga, for while he was above all committed to his family, he was very much committed to the downfall of the Hyuga Clan. Kazuya was thirteen years of age when his father and brothers marched to fight, alongside many Uchiha warriors, but he was forced to stay behind. He had fallen ill a few nights prior, and his condition only worsened. Jinichi absolutely refused to let the boy join them, for while he was a force to be reckoned with alongside his brothers, Kazuya would be at risk out there in his state, and his father would not have it.
The sun came and went and rose again, but Kazuya received no sleep. His many coughing fits and the extreme cold he felt while sweating to the point of dehydration, in conjunction with his migraines and overall fever prevented any sort of comfort. His mother stayed with him the entire time, despite his protest, and suffered a similar lack of sleep, but they talked for hours and hours. She retold the story of how she met his father, like he’s heard many times before, and shared tales of his childhood and the sorts of odd things he and his brothers would get into. While his illness made him suffer terribly, the time spent with Azami made it easier.
The afternoon sky was set in full by the time Kazuya started to get out of bed. His symptoms were subsiding, and though he’d received no sleep, he refused to rest while the sun was still up. His mother, however, had laid down for a well-deserved nap. He walked outside to get his body back into routine when he saw the mass of Uchiha entering into town. Kazuo and Kazutoshi walked at the front, with Jinpachi between them and his hands resting on their shoulders. They looked troubled, and so instead of rushing excitedly to meet them, he waited for them to reach the house and asked, “Where’s Father?”. The look on his uncle’s face told him everything he needed to know, and while the two younger brothers rushed inside to hold their mother, Kazuya sat on the steps of his house, devastated. His face went white and his eyes stared blankly; he had no way to even process what he’d heard. Jinpachi sat beside him and held the boy tightly. The two stayed there for hours without saying a word while Kazuya cried.
By nightfall, Jinpachi had prepared a late dinner for the family and beckoned them to the table. Nobody answered, so he brought the food to them. Azami, Kazuo, and Kazutoshi ate together in her bedroom, picking at what little they could stomach after all they’d been through, while Kazuya ignored the plate entirely. Jinpachi had just finished cleaning when the eldest brother walked towards the door, a bag slung over his shoulder. “Where are you going, Kazuya?” Jinpachi asked. “Away,” Kazuya replied. “You can’t run off now. Your mother and your brothers need you, not to mention the Clan,” Jinpachi approached the child as he spoke with a soft tone. “I’m sick of that Clan!” Kazuya shouted, “I’m sick of this war and everyone dying for nothing! I can’t stand it!” He ran out of the door as fast as he could. Jinpachi moved to intercept him, but Kazuya shot back a gaze with his Three Tomoe Sharingan active, filled with so much rage. His uncle thought it best if maybe he had some time alone.
Several weeks passed and Kazuya found himself in some remote portion of the Land of Fire. He’d taken to hunting animals, to eat when hungry and to sell when in need of clothes or supplies. It was an easy living for someone as heavily trained as he, but he was started to slack, because he had always trained for his family and his Clan’s war, so to do anything of the sort now would only remind him of what happened. Without it, though, his life was without purpose, yet somehow, he didn’t seem to mind.
Eventually, the teenaged refugee of the Uchiha Clan made a deal with a few people from another Clan towards the East, a hunting party that had been sent to bring food. They were efficient in their own right, but they’d never seen a hunter as talented as Kazuya, who was able to gather most of their need in just a few hours in exchange for goods that they had in abundance. So, they invited him to accompany them to their village, where he might find a place for himself. Kazuya agreed, and traveled with the group to the Land of Whirlpools, the home of one of the earliest Hidden Villages in history: Uzushiogakure.
Once there, Kazuya meets with the village elder and is officially accepted into the village as one of their own, and as a shinobi of Uzushiogakure, he accomplishes many missions with and for them, all the while keeping his heritage a secret. He had the natural talent comparable to a genius, though perhaps not as great as his youngest brother, Kazutoshi, but it was enough for him to get by as a skilled shinobi without needing to make use of his Sharingan. That didn’t stop him from using it on occasion and out of sight to get through some of the tougher missions, and on one such mission, he was found out by a young Uzumaki girl named Akemi.
Akemi confronted Kazuya about his secret after the mission was over. He was startled at first, and asked that she keep it secret. She explained that it wasn’t her secret to share, and that she’d never betray him like that. The two talked for some time, while walking along the riverbank. It was the first time in a long while that Kazuya was able to forget about everything he left behind, and the first time since running away that he’d felt truly accepted. The two spent more time together after that, and as their bond grew stronger, so, too, did their feelings for each other. The Village elder quickly took note of their growing fondness and though he never outright said it, the two knew they had his blessing.
While the Uzumaki Clan did not participate in the wars occurring throughout the many Lands by the other clans, they had grown aware of the gathering alliances and the potential threat that the new villages might mean to a Land such as theirs that is small and without ally. For this reason, they had been seeking alternate means to gaining an upper hand, to prevent war from ever breaking out against them, and in their knowledge of historical events, they found just such a power. The village put together an expedition to go out and find this power and, hopefully, capture it to bring back to the village. This was a mission done in secret, because if word that their strongest warriors were leaving to seek out a supernatural power, enemies might attack the village, or ambush the expedition to take that power and use it against them. Only the village elder and his most trusted advisers, as well as the people on the mission, were aware of its existence.
Akemi was one such person, for while she was special to Kazuya for other reasons, she was special to the village for her natural talent in the Clan’s Hiden techniques, not just with Fuuinjutsu, but with the Chakra Chains. She was, of course, instructed to not tell Kazuya, but he noticed the difference in village affairs pretty quick, and was able to find out what was going on all on his own, though not in any great detail. He knew that a secret mission was underway and he knew who was in on it, but he didn’t know what it was for. Akemi confirmed his suspicions, but she couldn’t tell him any more than he already knew, and though she pleaded for him to stay home in the village, he personally asked the village elder if he could help on the mission.
After a few days of preparation, the mission was underway, and the group of shinobi departed by boat to the Land of Demons. Once ashore, they were instructed to keep a low profile and avoid using chakra if at all possible so that the team sensor could mask their presence. They then went on a search, staying to the ground and shadows as much as possible to avoid being spotted by anything on the peninsula. Kazuya remained unsure of what they were hunting until he saw something that made his jaw drop and his heart fill with fear for the very first time. It was a gargantuan orange fox with nine tails, with fangs larger than him and power enough to shake the ground with every footstep. The team leader quickly ordered them to keep moving and stay hidden, because that thing was not the target, but it was no use.
The Kyuubi noticed the small group of humans and immediately went on the offensive. The battle was over almost as soon as it had begun, with every attack failing to land any decisive damage and all but three of the team dead or flung so far away that they couldn’t possibly survive. Akemi held up a barrier using her Chakra Chains with Kazuya on the inside and the team sensor on the outside. He started to unleash every technique he knew, flinging fireballs and water dragons in as quick a succession as he could manage, but the fox largely ignored them and crushed the man. With every swipe thereafter, the barrier shook and looked to crack, but it held fast. “Go! Get away while you still can, Kazuya!” Akemi shouted, but Kazuya ran towards her. “I won’t leave you!” He yelled while holding her as tight as he could. The barrier continued to shake violently until it suddenly stopped. The two looked up to see a massive orb of chakra gathering at the fox’s mouth. The Kyuubi swallowed it and fired an intense beam that shattered the barrier and…that’s all Kazuya remembered before everything went white.
The Uchiha heir woke up to the sudden rush of water in his face. He looked up to see that he was on a beach, and Akemi was just a few meters ahead, face up on the sand. He tried to get up quickly, but a terribly sharp pain rushed through his entire body. Trembling, he managed to stand, if only barely, and limped over to the young Uzumaki. She was dead. He tried to do everything he could to bring her back and, when it all failed, he slumped over her body and cried. He went on like that for hours, sometimes screaming at the top of his lungs, uncaring what would hear him.
Eventually, Kazuya regained his composure and carried his lost love along the beach until he finally managed to find their boat. He took the girl’s body back to Uzushiogakure and met with the village elder to report the results of the mission. It was a tragic lost, a sentiment reflected on the elder’s face, and while he admitted that he understood if Kazuya wanted to leave, he was welcome to stay as long as he liked, and that nobody would know his secret. Kazuya thanked him, and remained in the care of the medical shinobi in Uzushiogakure for a time before departing. The elder sent him off personally, with his own vessel and enough supplies to last for a week.
Several days are spent out at sea, all alone on that small boat, with Kazuya in solemn self -reflection. It became clear to him that he was the cause of all the bad things that happen to the people around him, starting with the death of his father and the death of Akemi, and he went on to blame himself for all the little negative things that have ever happened to people near him, while attributing every bad thing happening to him as some divine punishment. He started to hate himself.
Many days after the supplies had run completely dry, Kazuya was still at sea, steering the boat only to stay clear of land masses, but with no idea of where he was or where he was heading. He was on the verge of dehydration, with the sun beating down on him. He had a blanket to cover himself with, of course, but he refused to use it, thinking it best if he just die there. It was not to be, unfortunately, as a massive vessel impacted with his own, nearly completely crushing the small craft. Two people rappelled down the side of the ship and took hold of the weak and starving child, bringing him up on board while his boat and few belongings sank to the ocean floor.
Kazuya hadn’t enough time to curse his own luck before he realized that his would-be rescuers were actually pirates, and that he’d probably ventured into the Land of Water. The two men set the boy before the ship’s captain and most of the crew. Looking at them, Kazuya figured he could probably take out a few before they beat him, but the look in his eyes was one of defeat, as though he were dead inside, and he didn’t care. The pirates take him captive as their own personal whipping boy, and beat and torture him at their leisure over the next month. He never opened his mouth except to scream in pain, for he truly believed he deserved what he was getting.
Eventually, the pirates dock in a town on one of the Southern Islands in the Land of Water to refill supplies and barter their stolen wares. Like every other time, they end the first night in a tavern and leave Kazuya tied to a post outside. Many people walk by, some laugh at him, some feel sorry for him, but nobody ever tries to help him, until this one time. A man runs up to him and quickly cuts the ropes binding him, and, upon seeing how emaciated the boy is, decides it’d be quicker to just throw him over his shoulder and take off. He feeds Kazuya and barely says a word as he takes the boy to the Land of Waves.
Once at the man’s home, he finally introduces himself as a supposedly former convict named Goro Hozuki. Kazuya is still barely able to respond, starved and thirsty as he was, for the pirates specifically limited his intake to ensure that he stayed weak. The Hozuki nursed the young boy back to health, and even offered to help train him. He said it was because he wanted a sparring partner, but Kazuya felt like there would be more to it later on. The training was focused on Bukijutsu, Taijutsu, and Fuuton, Goro’s areas of expertise, and for months, Kazuya learned under his tutelage, until the time to repay his debt had finally come.
With his new partner at full fighting strength, Goro proposed a little job. He tried to be sly with it, twist it’s nature to seem like a good thing, but Kazuya saw through it and agreed anyway. He owed the man for helping him, and he didn’t particularly care that it was considered ‘illegal’ to certain parties, including even the new and powerful Kirigakure no Sato. The duo pursued many such jobs and grow closer as Goro is able to fully mentor Kazuya and help him see that things happening around him aren’t always his fault, and that the only thing he can control is what he does about them.
Though the two made a fantastic team with almost no failures, the law did eventually catch up to them. An anonymous tip from one of Goro’s personal friends led the military of the Land of Waves right to the Hozuki’s doorstep. He saw who it was before he even answered the door and tried to run, but they broke the door in and a group of them managed to capture him. Kazuya steps in and tries his best to fight, but they were too much for him, and so both of them were arrested and imprisoned. The two had adjacent cells, so Kazuya was able to watch as the military unlocked Goro’s cell, entered it, and beat him to death. The boy lost control of himself for the first time in that moment, and unleashed the full potential of his Doujutsu. The small jail was decimated in his wake, and all the personnel slaughtered.
Kazuya fled to the docks and took the first boat he could find into the harbor, not sure where to go, but knowing he couldn’t be there any longer. He spends days at sea without sufficient water and fell into a short coma because of it. When he awoke, he was in a bed, staring at a young girl trying to coax him into drinking water that she’d prepared in a cup. He stares into her eyes for a moment, caught off guard by her uncanny resemblance to Akemi. He thinks, for just a moment, that maybe he died and finally got to join her in the afterlife, but the pain in his head tells him otherwise. He leaps out of the bed and rushes out of the small house and without bothering to look around to his surroundings, or even behind him, he runs as far as his legs would take him.
It turns out that he was in the Land of Lightning, taken ashore by an old fisherman and his family after being found in a boat and very nearly dead from dehydration and probably hunger. Perhaps he was impolite in not accepting further care or even thinking them, but seeing that woman reminded him of Akemi, and then Goro, who also died right in front of him. He couldn’t stand it anymore, so he journeyed into the mountains, to find peace and, if he could help it, a quiet death.
Not even a day into his mountainous solitude, Kazuya came across an old man, a monk by dress with a large gray beard and bald head. He looked very, very old. This old sage welcomes Kazuya to come and sit with him in meditation on a cliff overlooking much of the Southern Land of Lightning. The two exchange no words for hours on end until Kazuya finally breaks, his own inner torment too much for him to handle. He pours everything out to the old sage, who sees in the boy an opportunity to help guide and shape a youth through a life journey riddled with troubles. The two spend a great deal of time alone in the mountains, where Kazuya learns many key aspects of himself that help to rid him of his own demons. This leads to the sage teaching him two art styles that will help not only in the understanding of the self, but in the natural flow one must accept and never seal away: Raiton and Fuuinjutsu.
Years pass before Kazuya finally feels whole again for the first time in his life, and he believes himself ready to return home and face his calling. The old sage wished him farewell and Kazuya departed towards the Land of Fire. He passed through the Land of Frost and, about halfway through the Land of Sound, he happened across a small home that looked to be in some form of disrepair; with a broken door and shattered windows. He thought to continue on his way, but overheard crying children, and decided to see if there was something he could do. Upon talking with the members of the family, those that survived the attack, he changed his course to the Land of Grass, tracking and in pursuit of the thieves. He eventually catches up to them and engages all of them, and though he emerged victorious, he was badly wounded.
Kazuya stumbles to the nearest place he can find. Kusagakure shinobi find him passed out near their walls and take the man in. When they find out that he slaughtered a group of thieves that were pestering the village, they agreed to nurse his wounds. He had intended to leave immediately, but upon request by the leader of the village, he aided them in several missions that were only just beyond their ability to handle alone. Kazuya stayed there a while longer, helping them with missions and training alongside their shinobi. He made several friends before he finally left the village and returned to his home country, not growing tired of the people there, but being reminded of his own family and how they, too, might need him.
The home of the Uchiha as Kazuya remembered it was towards the Southwest of the Land of Fire, so coming from the Land of Grass, there was plenty of ground to cover before reaching his destination. Along the way, Kazuya ran across a patrol of Senju shinobi. They weren’t hostile to him; they were surprisingly kind. He heard their warning of the war to the West, and then made clear his intentions, after which point he was invited to speak with their leader, Aokirama Senju. He agreed and, after being escorted to their home town, learned of the peace already in place between the Senju and all of the lesser clans of the Land of Fire. It became very clear to him that only thing preventing peace in the nation was the feud of the Uchiha and the Hyuga.
Kazuya revealed his true identity, for while the patrol knew he was an Uchiha, they did not know he was the rightful heir to the Clan, and he discussed terms for peace with Aokirama that he would later present to his Clan upon his return. After long deliberation, Kazuya left the Senju stronghold and made his way West, where the brunt of the war was currently taking place. He learned a little bit about his family, that Jinpachi had taken the seat of Clan Leader after Jinichi’s passing, only to surrender it once Kazuo became of age. That didn’t bode well for peace, because Kazuya was well aware of Kazuo’s opinion of the Hyuga Clan; he might accept peace with the Senju and the lesser clans, but never with the Hyuga.
Upon nearing the Northwestern Land of Fire, Kazuya began encountering Uchiha encampments, what he recognized as fallback centers in the case of a retreat. They were fully stocked with medical supplies and personnel, as well as trained guards. With his Sharingan, he was easily able to identify himself as a member of the Clan, which was enough to let him progress beyond those encampments and towards the main force, which he knew would be a few kilometers ahead. Kazuo would be there, he knew, both as Clan Leader and as one eager to put the Hyuga down. Kazutoshi would no doubt be there as well, to support Kazuo.
Night had fallen by the time Kazuya arrived. Torches were scattered about the grassy plains, illuminating the vast number of tents housing thousands of Uchiha warriors. This was going to be a bloody battle, Kazuya knew, and he had only one chance to prevent it. Making his way to the command tent, Kazuya shrugged aside every guard that stood in his way, for while a Three Tomoe Sharingan shows good standing as an Uchiha, it does not entitle one the right to approach the commanders of the Uchiha army. He was finally stopped at the central tent, the one where the Clan Leader would discuss with advisers and commanders the best tactics for the approaching battle. Kazuya ordered the guards to stand aside, but they did not recognize him, and before he had the chance to even state his name, Kazuo emerged with an angry expression that immediately turned to joy and excitement as he recognized his brother.
“Kazuya!” Kazuo shouted, “Kazutoshi! Come here!” The youngest was already halfway through the door, unable to believe his eyes. “Kazuya…” he whispered. The three brothers embraced for the first time in over ten years, but the full measure of this joyous reunion could not be had just yet, as the three re-entered the tent, Kazuo excited to introduce his eldest brother to his commanders and advisers, but Kazuya determined to put a stop to this war. “Everyone, I’d like to introduce you all to my older brother, Kazuya, who’s finally come home after, what, ten years? Damn, it’s good to see you, Kazuya.” The current leader exclaimed with a voice full of emotion and an arm wrapped snugly around Kazuya.
“It’s good to see you as well, Kazuo, and you, Kazutoshi, but I’m afraid there is business to discuss.” Kazuya began. “That there is!” Kazuo interjected, excited to bring his brother in on the plan, “We’ve discovered the Hyuga Clan Leader in a village at the bottom of this cliff,” he started, pointing to a large map laid out over an equally large table, “Now, we’re fifteen kilometers out –completely safe from their Byakugan. All we have to do is find a way to descend that cliff and attack the village from all sides. So far, we’re planning to have one company run down the face of the cliff -our best weapon fighters equipped with Sharingan to deflect their ranged attacks- while we have two more battalions flank from either side of the cliff, using the trees as cover, and surround the village. By the time the first company reaches the village, it’ll be ours. What do you think?” Kazuo asked, excitement in his eyes.
“The strategy is sound, brother, but this war must end,” Kazuya started, already seeing the light drain from Kazuo’s eyes, “It’s claimed too many lives and we have before us a chance at peace! The Senju have unified all the clans in the Land of Fire save only us and the Hyuga. If we can set aside our pride and our hatred, we can achieve a peace that will save countless lives on both sides!” Kazuo couldn’t help but grimace in return, exclaiming, “Curse the Hyuga! There won’t be any peace until they all lie dead in the ground! And the Senju? You would trust those that have stabbed us in the back before? Remember our history, brother! The only thing that will come of this alliance is betrayal and death.” Kazuo stormed out of the tent, furious, and Kazuya followed.
“Maybe so, but if we continue this war, we’ll find the same death at the hands of the other nations. Hidden Villages have risen up out of almost every Land, and they boast the combined strength of all of their Lands’ Clans. How would we ever hope to stand our ground when we’re too busy fighting with the Hyuga? At least with this alliance, we’ll have a chance at survival, but if we continue this war, all of us will die. You know that’s not what Father would have wanted.” Kazuya finished, but Kazuo lit up like a fire, retorting, “How dare you speak of Father! Would he have wanted you to run away and abandon your own family?! We needed you, Kazuya, and you left us to suffer alone! Don’t you dare tell me what’s best for the Clan! You haven’t been here, you haven’t seen what we’ve had to go through to get here! This is our chance! We can end this war right here and now, eradicate the Hyuga-“ Kazuya suddenly cut in, saying, “And what of the Senju, Kazuo?!” “We’ll kill them next!” Kazuo responded.
“We can’t kill everyone who’s ever wronged us. We have to let certain things go for the betterment of the Clan. I hope you can let this go, too…” Kazuya trailed off. “Let what go?” Asked Kazuo. Kazuya stood strong and firm, flexing his back as he said, “I challenge you for leadership of the Clan.” Kazuo almost scoffed at the words. He wanted to throw the last ten years in Kazuya’s face, but he calmed himself and said simply, “That is your right. Come.” Kazuo led his elder brother to a clearing some distance away from the encampment, so that what was about to happen wouldn’t likely cause any collateral damage. “I hope you’re ready, Kazuya.”
The two brothers clashed in a battle for the ages. Kazuo had trained with furious dedication after his brother had left, knowing that it had become his duty to lead the clan, and he became a master in his fields, but Kazuya had trained as well, and while perhaps not as dedicated, his skillset now had a variety thus far unseen among an Uchiha leader. The two had seen much in their short years, had experience the kind of pain most never imagine, but against each other, they did not unleash the power that pain brought, for while they had terrible memories to channel, they knew that they were still family, and no bond is stronger than family. Their battlefield had become scorched in a few hours and by the end of it, Kazuya was standing victorious against his brother, who finally admitted defeat. Kazuya helped him up and they embraced as if nothing had happened between them, for in the clashing of blades one finds not only the true nature of the opponent, but an expression of the feelings within, and the two now understood each other better than anyone else. Kazuya returned to the central tent and issued orders for the Uchiha force to stand fast with Kazuo in charge, until his return from Senju territory. Then, just as soon as he’d arrived, Kazuya was gone once more.
Two days pass before Kazuya makes his second entrance at the camp, this time with Aokirama in tow, but what he finds is not an Uchiha camp, but a sundered and devastated battlefield. The Hyuga had discovered their presence and launched an attack of their own at dawn, so by the noon time that Kazuya arrived, the battle was just about over. With an overwhelming display of power, Kazuya and Aokirama pushed back the remaining Hyuga forces, leaving the Uchiha to lick their wounds. Kazuya wandered about the battlefield, until he eventually came across Kazuo kneeling on the ground with Kazutoshi’s head in his lap. “Don’t talk, ‘toshi…You’re gonna be alright,” Kazuo tried to comfort his little brother, who was wounded well beyond repair with blood leaking from his eyes; Kazuya knew exactly how far the battle gone, and what Kazutoshi used that probably saved many lives. The eldest brother knelt down and put his hand to Kazutoshi’s shoulder and said softly, “I’m sorry…I’m so sorry…”
The new Uchiha Clan Leader stood and clenched his fist. In that moment, he shared in Kazuo’s hatred for the Hyuga, and thought of killing every last one, but Aokirama’s firm grip on his shoulder reminded him of why he had come, and what must be done to stop any more wasted lives. He and the Senju gave chase to the Hyuga and met with the royal guard on the outskirts of the nearly destroyed village. With Aokirama’s help, Kazuya was able to meet with Toro Hyuga, the current Hyuga leader, and together, they brokered a peace agreement that laid the groundwork for the Village Hidden in the Leaves. The three agree then that Kazuya is to be the First Hokage, among other conditions for the village’s founding, which were to be made official later. The location for this new village was easily decided as the site of the remains of the village devastated by this final battle between the Hyuga and the Uchiha.
The very first structure in Konoha is Kazutoshi’s grave, which Kazuo and Kazuya dug personally before engraving a stone worthy of their brother. Next came the cemeteries for the Uchiha and the Hyuga, where they buried the many dead from the previous battle. Word was then sent to the members of both clans throughout the land, as well as the Senju and their alliance, to come and help construct a unified village. As people poured in and the main construction effort was underway, Kazuya worked with Kazuo to build the Naka Shrine to honor the dead, and to cover the room they crafted below it. Within this room, underneath the Naka Shrine, the Uchiha brothers wrote down every clan secret in existence, things that had been passed down since the first of the Uchiha: Hideshi and all the secrets and techniques that came along with it. Kazuya used his skill in Fuuinjutsu to inscribe every line of text, and even the walls, so that no eyes could ever see through them, and only the Sharingan could read that text. He even leveled the coding, so that the techniques written upon the walls could be read by certain tomoe of sharingan, while the tablet in the middle only bore a basic history of the Uchiha to those without the Mangekyou. With it, they would find the hidden truths unknown to all but the Clan’s leaders and even more secrets with a level beyond that. The two then covered the shrine with a stone and seal that could only be undone via a specific technique, which only the two of them possess.
As construction of Konoha continued and the Clan Districts were built, so too was the administration headquarters, for the most part. It was enough so that the Konoha Council could hold its first official meeting, comprised of the leaders of all Clans. It was in this meeting that Kazuya was officially named First Hokage, and the structure of the village and its shinobi determined. They decided to follow the pattern of other Hidden Villages, with rank names such as Genin and Jounin, as well as a mission system for taking and completely requests. This was also the meeting where the first Fire Daimyo was elected, to oversee the land as a whole, while leaving village matters to the Hokage. Tsukami Hyuga was selected for this role, and though Kazuya did not know the woman personally, her clan and Toro in particular spoke very highly of her.
A few weeks later heralded the official opening of the Ninja Academy, and in this ceremony, not only was the first class of children formally accepted, older shinobi were awarded with official rankings based on their power and merits, as well as distributed the very first Konoha Headbands. The Hyuga also donated their extensive personal library to the village, reserving some secrets for themselves, but granting great knowledge to the public of Konoha. It was here that Kazuya spent most of his free time, when not attending to Village or Clan matters, for while he was Hokage of Konoha, he was still leader of the Uchiha. During his research, he came to realize the danger of empires and, when combined with his dislike of war in general, it brought him to issue a warning along with the formal declaration of Konoha’s power as a united village: War is a terrible thing; to throw away human lives for the sake of political gain is foolish and those that engage in the behavior of unjustified assault upon another country with intent to conquest will find the full force of Konohagakure standing against them.
With Konoha’s announcement as a world power came an immediate flow of mission requests all throughout the Land of Fire. In response, Kazuya began assigning teams of shinobi to address the missions and through them, he worked to eradicate such a majority of bandit groups in the country that missions regarding them went from being very common to rare, and those requests started focusing on smaller outfits, as opposed to the large organizations that once plagued the land. Not all of this was done based on mission requests, however, for some people that requested it couldn’t afford it, and some reports on bandit camps didn’t come with a request, so the village was forced to pay for these on its own, and so Kazuya looked into taking advantage of natural resources for income, so that Konoha would no longer be reliant on requests to function. The Daimyo wholeheartedly agreed, and proposed further construction endeavors using that income outside of the Hidden Village.
With Konoha fully functional and the important and large scale construction jobs out of the way, the Konoha Council met once more to determine the names of the Land of Fire’s regions, as well as begin planning for the Diamyo’s proposal and the preparation of threats to come. Overall, these were the last major decisions to be made, and without a threat on the horizon, Kazuya became free to devote his time back into training when not on village or clan business, but when they came up, the village always came first, and in his absence, Kazuo would take charge of the Uchiha as Kazuya’s second in command. The two are united as family, the same sentiment Kazuya spreads to the rest of Konoha.
