Repairing the Docks [Mission | Solo] Empty Repairing the Docks [Mission | Solo]

Post by Yumi Fri Feb 02, 2018 12:52 am

    Mission Details:

A cold wind blew on by as debris from a storm that had raged its way through the ancestral home of the Hozuki had been left everywhere. Windows had been blown as glass was everywhere. The docks were a mess wooden boards broken and shattered strewn everywhere as mildew from the cool sea air clung. The docks were slippery as the wind sent the wooden debris flying. The few buildings that sat on the docks were in shambles, doors were broken, window frames shattered and all the glass gone. The buildings shook back and forth, it looked like they could collapse at any moment.

A pair of red eyes that seemed to shimmer like diamonds cast their gaze onto the docks. There was a hint of annoyance reflected in those glistening hues but it vanished as quickly as it appeared. A twinkle formed as the owner of those eyes turned to face the dock manager. The dock manager was a burly man carrying a toolkit over which he laid down in front of the eyes owner. The man looked up, more specifically down at the person he was greeting. The storm had done some serious damage so he had put in a D rank mission for some assistance in repairing the docks, he had not been expecting who he got. Standing in front of the dock manager was a young girl who was rather short only four foot ten, he couldn't discern her age as she looked incredibly young. She was dress immaculately in a light purple Yukata with long sleeves, red inside silk and white cherry blossom design on the front. Around her slender waist a cerulean blue sash with a floral design. Her hair was black cut in a hime-style and let loose down her back. In her hair on both sides pink flowers. Lastly, she was wearing white tabi socks and straw waraji.

The dock manager scratched his head in confusion as he gazes the girl a look over, he had been expecting a shinobi to show up, a Genin maybe one or two, not a civilian. "Ah little girl you should leave, civilian's should be taking SHinobi Missions." Lectured the man, he didn't want the girl to get in trouble. The snow-white beauty smiled up at him and he felt his heart melt, his eyes then widened as she untied her obi sash. He threw his arms out waving them about, he didn't need this, only to stop. Beneath the obi sash tied around her body keeping the Yukata in place was a kirigakure shinobi headband. This girl was a Kunoichi. He breathed easy knowing this, little did he know that the girl in front of him was actually a boy.

Yumi giggled cutely at the dock manager's antics and spoke up in a sweet soothing voice, "Please Onii-chan I am here to help." 'She' smiled up with a beaming smile her eyes would melt even the coldest of hearts. The dock manager felt himself melting beneath her gaze and began to tell her about what he needed help with. Seeing her small frame he couldn't let her do the more physically challenging tasks, he would feel bad if something happened to such a cute little girl. But after explaining to her about the storm and how the docks needed repairing he watched as she grabbed the toolkit and rolled up her Yukata sleeves putting on a determined face, little did he know it was all an act.

Watching Yumi go to work the dock manager began to assist directing 'her' and instructing 'her' on how to repair the docks. The little 'girl' used the claw side of a hammer to rip a broken window frame apart, wearing thick woollen gloves to protect her tender hands. Yumi huffed and puffed with great effort, tossing the broken pieces aside and following the manager's instructions Yumi began inserting the new frame. Carefully measuring it out, saw away the wooden planks to fit before nailing them in. Once the window frame was in he began to carefully insert the place locking it firmly in place. Once the first window frame was repaired Yumi moved onto the next, by the tenth window the Genin collapsed onto her knees panting softly, pale in the face. His own constitution wasn't very high, nor was his stamina and the work was tiring. Taking a break to rest up, drink and eat Yumi recovered his stamina. Yumi was a scientist, a bookworm not a hard labourer but this was a job and he was in need of money. If he wasn't in desperate needed of Ryo to continue with his experiments Yumi wouldn't even be here in the first place. Yumi didn't allow the disdain for the job to show, keeping up his charming smile as he accepted a bottle of water from the manager and took a sip.

After ten minutes had passed Yumi returned to work. One of the dock buildings had been turned into a great big mess with walls collapsed. Most of the building had been removed all that remained were a few shabby walls that had somehow remained upright and would need to be destroyed for everything to be cleared. Yumi grabbed a sledgehammer and dragged it over with a great deal of effort. He hefted the hammer and almost fell over, regaining his balance Yumi gripped the hammer and swung it with all his might. The sledgehammer struck the wall and broke through. Yumi almost fell forward but caught himself. Gripping the sledgehammer he got to work.

"How humiliating! I am not some grunt. All in the name of knowledge. The funds I obtain will be small but will help advance my research." Thought the twisted 'lolita' as he swung the hammer breaking down the walls one after the other with a great deal of struggle. As Yumi worked on this half the dock manager was clearing the rubble. Watching the tiny shinobi go to work. Although it appeared 'she' was struggled 'she' was a hard working and didn't complain like others might have.

Yumi dropped the sledgehammer, his hands were numb. This is why he hated doing physical labour, it just was not him. He was the type that prefers working in secret doing less physically daunting tasks. He would rather be doing a lecture if he had to at the academy then this grunt level work, he wasn't some neanderthal. The Genjutsu user held back a sneer, keeping his charming smile as he then skipped over to the manager. Yumi felt like puking at his act, but he had to commend himself on just how thorough it was, the manager didn't even suspect anything was wrong. Holding back a nefarious laugh Yumi in his cutesy voice began to ask the manager what he should do next. Once he had his instructors he darted off. Some of the debris along the dock needed clearing. Most of the larger pieces had been removed but not the smaller sized ones. Grabbing a wheelbarrow Yumi headed off to collect the fallen debris.

Yumi piled the debris up into the wheelbarrow, making sure not to make it to heavy which for him meant filling it up to one-third of its capacity. Yumi bent down, and while making sure not to get his yukata dirty, picked up a moulding piece of timber and chucked it into the barrow before grabbing a baby head sized piece of concrete with rebar sticking out. Yumi gripped the concrete slab and heaved, his muscles struggling as he carried it over and dropped it into the barrow. Using a shovel Yumi began scooping up the broken concrete that was too small to gather in his hands and laid it into the bottom of the wheelbarrow. One the barrow was at a third of its capacity, Yumi grabbed the handled and heaved hefting it up with a great deal of effort. Yumi wheeled it off towards the dumping site and tossed the debris out. Yumi continued his duties for the next hour to clear the debris before taking a long twenty-minute break.

Yumi knelt on the ground, his yukata getting dirty while enjoying the cool breeze that blew by. His body was already aching. After the break Yumi was dirted to work on the piers that had broken up from the storm, the wooden piers were in shambles. Yumi grabbed a hammer, nails and planks of wood and got to work. He started at the end ripping the broken boards out and made his way back towards the beginning of the pier so not to fall into the waters below. The claw of the hammer came down to rip out the exposed nails, which Yumi chucked into a small container. He moved as quickly as he could, taking a good hour to completely removed the broken boards, leaving only half a dock remaining. With the damaged boards removed Yumi began nailing in the new planks. Yumi placed the first place in, lined up his nail and brought the hammer down with a swing. A loud bang struck his ears as the tip of the metal hammer hit the metal nail. Yumi hammered the nail in with four goes and moved onto the next. As he hammered he would occasionally bend the nails, forcing him to rip the bent nail out and try again. Yumi had narrowly avoided striking his own thumb a number of times, lucky enough to never land the blow.

Yumi wiped the sweat from his tender forehead and after nailing in the final board collapsed onto his delicate behind. He was panting as he collapsed, back laying on the pier. Yumi was thoroughly exhausted, even with the constant rest he was simply running on fumes. Yumi was not designed for prolonged activities such as this, but he supposed it would do his muscles some good and help to strengthen them. Yumi couldn't wait to return home, rest up then begin his research once again. He could not wait to get back to his experiments, especially the one he was in the middle of conducting, he just needed to purchase some hydrochloric acid and he would be set, but the deadly chemical wasn't cheap.

Time ticked away for Yumi as he moved back and forth transporting goods along the dock and got to work repairing the buildings and clearing debris. He moved around without any inward complaints but on the inside was seething, but he kept it in check. The work was hard but as a Genin of Kirigakure he supposed he had a reputation to keep, he couldn't allow a client to experience his complaints, it would not look good on his record if the client was to mention it, so he toiled away to the best of his efforts. His outwards appearance needed a perfect reputation in Kirigakure, and if it meant getting dirty and experience the pain this physical labour brought then so be it.

As Yumi toiled away he could feel his hands beginning to blister. Time continued to tick away until the last nail was used. With a loud bang, the hammer struck and the nail sunk into place. The genjutsu user dropped the hammer, he had completed the assignment. The dock manager spoke up, but Yumi was too tired to hear what he said only catching that the manager would send word to Kirigakure and payment for the mission would later be sent directly to Yumi. The chemist walked off dragging his feet as he headed back to Kirigakure, exhausted. Yumi had never felt so exhausted in all his life, he felt like dropping his mask to conserve energy but forced it to stay in place as he walked back to the village.

The walk was long and strenuous but he eventually returned home, showing his ID to the guards in order to gain entrance. Yumi made his way straight home ignoring the looks he received. Making his way into the apartment building he was renting a room at, he used the elevator to head up to the fourth floor where his apartment was. Fishing a key out of his left yukata sleeve he walked down the hallway, inserting the key into the door and walked in locking the door behind him. Yumi walked straight to his bedroom, where a noxious gas hung in the air, wafting out from the room attached, his laboratory. Yumi wasn't phased by the gas, as he had built up his own immunity. He could shower when he woke up, for now, his body needed rest. The chemist collapsed onto his bed and the moment his head hit the pillow he was sound asleep.
