    Appearance:
On first observation, the first thing an average person thinks, when looking at Shiki, is that this young kunoichi looks much more like someone to be cuddled, rather than, fought. For starters, her height isn’t intimidating in the least, just barely hitting 5 feet and 4 inches. At her age, it’s very unlikely she will grow much further, if at all. Luxurious, straight, auburn, silky hair crowns her head, and has been fashioned into a chic bob, curling gently at the tips, with traditional ‘hime-cut’ bangs, a clear deviation from the usual black locks sported by the stereotypical Uchiha. The bob often conceals her ears and eyebrows, making her look less threatening, even when she frowns. Framed by thick eyelashes and complimented with very few, if any, sharp features on her face, Shiki’s large and gentle eyes are a very dark hue, so dark they appear black. She also has a small cute nose, and full lips, behind which are positioned well-shaped, pearly white teeth, whose view she often graces the world with, for she has a propensity to smile quite a lot. In any event, the pulchritude of her face is enough to make a good percentage of the population of her village attempt to interact often with her, just to enjoy interaction with her.
If her face is very attractive, Shiki has the form of a goddess. Although she doesn’t have height on her side, she is blessed with rather gorgeous curves, even though she sports a svelte physique, with narrow shoulders and a slim waist, yet possessing a well-endowed bust and wide, well-rounded hips. Her limbs are slender, though her thighs are a bit chubby, giving her a softer appearance than is expected of the average shinobi. Her hands and feet are gracefully and daintily shaped. As someone who enjoys the outdoors, her complexion is evenly tanned. If anything at all, it would be extremely difficult to see Shiki and think of her as a capable shinobi, unless one is not given to make assumptions on first impressions.
As far as dressing is concerned, Shiki seems to be devoted to showing off her lovely curves. When not on missions, she wears a black jacket with the Uchiha crest on the back, a white cropped tank top with the kanji for “rakuen” printed on the left side and scandalously short jeans cut-offs, as well as heeled sandals. Her official shinobi attire consists of a dark blue mini-dress with a slit on the left side of the skirt to improve ease of movement, as well as with a rather low-cut neckline and the Uchiha crest proudly emblazoned on the back. She wears a wide belt on which she carries accessories, and dark-grey thigh-length, heeled shinobi boots. Her forehead protector is tied up over her forehead, Alice-band style. She never wears it when not in her official ninja clothes. When in her ninja get-up, Shiki also wears dark blue eye shadow, and does her hair into a short ponytail, using a hair pin to secure it. In or out of missions, she is often seen chewing gum, though she has the grace never to do it noisily, except she’s popping a bubble.
While she is a fan of jewelry, Shiki knows that too much of it can be disadvantageous, especially in combat, so she wears a bangle or two, a bracelet, and a jewelled pendant on a choker, which has great sentimental value to her, being a memento from her late father.

    History:
Uchiha Shiki was born to Uchiha Sho, a member of the Uchiha clan, and Fujika Hina, from the Land of Tea. Sho had met Hina, while on a travel to the Land of Tea, they had fallen in love, and he had brought her to live in Konoha as his wife, something the more traditional elders of the Uchiha clan weren’t too pleased with, seeing as Sho was a very talented ninja, and they hoped that, by marriage with another member of the clan, Sho would sire exceptional children. Unfortunately for them, Sho had always had a rather strong rebellious streak, and once his mind was made up, he damned hell and high waters to carry out his intentions. Which was why, despite the displeasure of some members of the Uchiha clan, Sho went ahead and married Hina, the love of his life. Things were not too easy, but the young couple had each other, and that was all that mattered.

Shiki was born in the cold of winter, and her mother died not too long afterwards. While most people believed that Hina, Shiki’s mother, did not survive due to the rigors of childbirth, as well as the harshness of the season, Sho was convinced that his wife had been killed, because she had been a very vital and healthy young woman of tough constitution, which was why, in the weeks following Shiki’s birth, when Hina’s health progressively deteriorated, Sho was convinced that his wife’s inability to convalesce was unnatural. If Sho suspected that someone had had a hand in the killing of his wife, he became more convinced of this, when some members of his clan approached him, persuading him to take a wife again, and this time from the clan. Not having enough proofs to pin blame anywhere, Sho replied that he was still grieving, and should be allowed some time to move on.

Shiki grew, a bright and sunny child, who was quick to forgive and slow to rise to provocation, which was often, as Shiki favored a less aggressive approach to life, something many of her peers considered to imply weakness. While she couldn’t figure out why a good number of her clan members seemed to dislike her, she found solace in the company of her father, who, despite being firm, was also kind, and instilled a strong set of morals in his daughter, as well as courteousness. Like most children in the village, Shiki wanted to be a ninja, especially being inspired by her father, Sho, and had made a promise to him that she would surpass him as a ninja one day, to which he smiled and urged her not to relent. Although gentle and easy going, Shiki showed a very individualistic streak from a young age, obviously gotten from her father, and while given to much introspection, she was also very determined once she had made up her mind, or given her word, something Sho often said she got from her mother, Hina. As a child, she spent much of her time alone, studying, thinking or exploring the outdoors of the village.

Sho, for his part, had not closed the matter of his wife, and sought to uncover proof of her murder. Little by little, working in the shadows, over the space of a decade, he began to piece loose threads together, and realized that among the Uchiha clan, there existed a very small secret fundamentalist sect, called the Uchiha no Makoto (Purity of Uchiha), which believed that the right genes and training made the ultimate ninja, and that all other clans and bloodlines were inferior to the Uchiha, who was the ultimate ninja. Sho’s father, quite dead at this time, had been covertly a member of the faction, and they had hoped his son would follow in his steps and join the group. But Sho had always been independent, and saw little good in the ideals of the faction. Of course, he had incensed the Uchiha no Makoto further by marrying a “foreign dog”, who had been most likely taken out, in order that Sho could be free to marry a real Uchiha woman. Before he could investigate further and establish the truth of these probabilities, Sho was sent by a high-ranking member of the clan on a mission outside the village.

As it was, the mission was a ploy to get him away from Konoha, and his daughter, as the Uchiha no Makoto readied for its next move. All the same, Sho felt a strange premonition, considering it to be hardly a coincidence that he was being sent out of the village, when it seemed he was uncovering so much. He therefore connived with a friend who disguised as him, and left the village, making it seem that Sho had gone on his mission. That night, Shiki, ten years old at the time, was ambushed and attacked by an assailant with a poisoned needle. Sho took the blow for his daughter, and incapacitated the assassin. Sadly, he died before help could arrive on the scene, but the assassin was captured and interrogated. It was revealed that the Uchiha no Makoto had attempted to kill Shiki, so that Sho would move on and marry again, as they considered that he had refused to remarry because he was taking care of her. Before the Uchiha no Makoto could be apprehended, they all committed seppuku.

Devastated by her father’s death, Shiki lost interest in life in general, and became a shadow of herself. Almost entirely emotionless, she never smiled, was never motivated, and kept repeating years at the Shinobi Academy, despite every effort of her instructors to get her to graduate and become a full-fledged ninja, because on the one hand, she saw no reason to continue, but the promise she had made to her father would not let her drop out, as she would not forgive herself for not keeping a promise. The taunts of the children who met and overtook her did nothing to spur her to advance. She became notorious in the Academy, and people wondered why she just didn’t give up on being a ninja altogether. But all that changed when Shiki turned eighteen. She received some of her father’s effects, which had been willed to her, but she had not been permitted to receive until she turned eighteen or graduated from the Academy. Among them was a crystal which her father had often boasted about as having magical properties. As soon as Shiki touched it, her mind was transported into a genjutsu, which could only be activated by her chakra signature. In the genjutsu, she saw her father for the last time, who told her that he had prepared this in case death suddenly parted them, a thing he suspected to be very possible with the discovery of the Uchiha no Makoto. Sho encouraged his daughter to continue in whatever path she had chosen for herself without regrets, and to live as well as she could, with the hope that her life would be much longer than his. His last words to her were, “I hope life hasn’t stolen your smile”. Shiki spent the entire night crying, and didn’t come to the Academy for the rest of the week.

However, the next week saw a different Uchiha Shiki. Having decided that she would not be able to stand before her father with pride, were they to meet again, Shiki determined once more that she would end up becoming a ninja, and do him proud, fixing the crystal to a neck chain to remind her of her commitment to renew her promise. She totally reinvented herself, regaining her sunny attitude, and seeking once more to improve herself, and live without regrets. Now, the insults by other people only served to motivate her more, and within a year, Shiki had her own forehead protector. Now, despite being underestimated by most people, Shiki is determined to honor her promise to her father. This is where the story finds her…

    Personality:
Perky, feisty, jovial and easy going, Shiki is a very accommodating person to be around, and is quite obliging to those she knows favorably. She isn’t really a fan of arguments, and will often try to defuse an aggravated situation if she can, unless someone is just trying to be difficult, at which point she will attempt to put them in their place with her dry, sarcastic wit. She believes that while fighting is necessary in some cases, constant aggression is mostly a waste of energy, and is quite unpleasant to her. However, underneath this congenial persona is a rather feisty individual who will give 105% in any endeavor she is saddled wth. She tends to joke and laugh a lot, although she is careful not to make jokes at the expense of others, unless she is quite certain that, not only can the recipient of the joke bear it, but doesn’t mind it either. Though preferring solitude, she is comfortable around people and is more charismatic than she thinks, her winsome personality and teamwork spirit making it easy for others to get along with her. Compassionate to a fault, Shiki will try to help anyone she can, although she is not idealistic to think that there are no people in the world who will backstab you after you help them. However, her compassion is the reason she has trained in ijutsu. Shiki doesn’t like the abuse of power, and doesn’t take it easy with bullies. If she feels she can make a difference wherever injustice or inequality exists, you will definitely hear her voice.

Despite her introverted nature, Shiki is quite confident, this attribute of hers developed by listening to a lesson taught her by her father: “often, people fear or hate that which is different. However, our differences are what make us special, so celebrate what makes you different”. As a result, Shiki is not scared that she stands out, and many times, when insulted, she brushes the insults off as intended compliments. Should someone persist in insulting her, she will give back quips of her own, and it often ends with the aggressor getting angry, while she is laughing over it. She has learned that a label cannot offend you if you’re proud of it, and this is what led to her style of clothing. Often being ridiculed by her fellow Academy students for her mature physical form, the most common being that she belonged on an adult magazine cover instead of the Academy, after connecting with her father in his custom genjutsu, Shiki decided that she would, instead of kicking against the insults, wear them with pride. That way, she has learned to be unfazed by disparaging remarks, and her detractors are the ones blowing gaskets. Shiki is relatively amorous, but isn’t very comfortable with that side of hers, tending to lose her composure in the presence of anyone she really fancies, unless she is used to the person. She can be something of a flirt, but will not take advantage of people via manipulation, unless she feels it is necessary.

While forgiving the failures of others, Shiki is very strict with herself, and does not accept failure. Her unwillingness to give up can move her to great and illogical lengths, like her persistence in the Academy, despite her lack of interest in it. When she has given her word, or made a promise, Shiki is very headstrong and determined in pursuing her goals. The thought of herself giving up is odious to her. As a result, she trains frequently and regularly, but is wise to focus more on her strengths and cover her weaknesses where she can. Even when discouraged, Shiki will not attempt to show it, and is quite the motivator, going all out to ensure that the morale of her teammates, friends or village members is as high as she can get it. She is very good at hiding her sorrows and fears, and most people think she has no worries, but only her closest friends would know her challenges and pains.

As one who thinks a lot, Shiki always sees everything from more than one angle. This bleeds into combat as well, making her a very tactical fighter. If she throws a kunai at you, she’s probably planning something else, and the flying kunai is probably the least of your worries. Of course, she may just opt for a very simple battle plan, to throw an opponent, who knows her style of battle, a curve ball. She brings an opportunism almost alien to her true nature to the battlefield, trying to observe an opponent for weaknesses, and she will seek to capitalize on such perceived weaknesses, as the best way to break a wall is to go for the weakest sections. She is also known to sometimes goad opponents to see if she can make them angry and do something rash, at which point she will try to take advantage of that rashness. It is, of course, a double-edged sword, as an angry opponent may fight with more vigor, and is less likely to be lenient. Shiki believes strongly in thinking things through, despises recklessness, and will berate a teammate if she perceives them to be reckless. However, she will try to make it up to such a person if she realizes she may have hurt their feelings.

Shiki loves sweets, spicy foods, reading, kind people, training, looking good, and things that make her think, like intelligent discussions, riddles and puzzles. She dislikes anything bitter, seafood (especially raw), coffee, overly serious people, bullies, and vermin.
