    Naturally Deceptive

    A perpetual liar, a subtle manipulator or a wily woman. Many are the names given to the female Tengu of the clan. And not without good reason either since their kin is notoriously known to use guile, misdirection and deception as a means to gain and keep the advantage over their stronger brethren.

    Tengu KKG: Physical mutation of the Tengu grant a +1 tier bonus to coordination.
    Unique Ability: She is able to mold chakra with one hand, suffering a -1 tier to coordination when doing so.
    Unique Ability Under Hua Li's leadership, her troops become a real guerrilla nightmare when fighting in the suburbs or the forests.
    Unique Ability: She can drop speed to boost constitution, seemingly appearing indestructible as her crafts.



    Lineage of the Tengu Master Smiths

    Hua Li, the Demon Smith of Kumogakure, is not just any Tengu within the clan. Even among her kin, she is known to descend from legendary Tengu hermits who dedicated their life to the arts of crafting. While rivalling the skills of legends is a still ongoing challenge, none can deny the Tengu's finesse at the forge when it comes to the creation of high grade armour.

    Unique Ability: An eye for detail, the Demon Smith holds back her strength to focus on precision work.



    The Jade Wind Demon

    The 'jade wind demon' is Hua Li's symbol of recognition - a twisted resemblance of Quetzalcoatl. The jade serpent with the maw of a dragon bears a regal presence with its deep milky, green colours and white-green feathered wings. But it only takes its true form when the red hue of blood has been added through war and sacrifice. Writhing in her Kijo Demon Script, this demon slumbers till woken.

    Unique Ability: Hua Li is capable of placing two enchantments on a single item.
    Unique Ability: The Jade Wind Demon is capable of feasting on the chakra of others to strengthen itself.

To use this technique requires speed and deftness, as well as a general idea of when an attack is oncoming. This is used to fool inexperienced Shinobi into believing their attack has landed on their victim giving the user an opportunity to either escape or land a surprise attack. The animation only lasts a couple seconds as well as the illusion after being hit, so it must be timed precisely for maximum effectiveness.

    Description: A ninjutsu that creates an intangible copy of one's own body, without any substance. Since the clone itself doesn't have the ability to attack, and thus can only be used to confuse the enemy, it is mainly used in combination with other ninjutsu. It's a basic technique, but depending on one's ingenuity, it can be used effectively. The clones may not dissipate when they come into contact with something. These clones can be easily distinguished by people with dōjutsu. A person with normal eyes can also distinguish the clones from the original, since the clones do not have shadows and will not disrupt the area around themselves with their movement (i.e. won't kick up dust, crush grass, etc.). These clones are extremely simplistic and cannot talk nor move very far from the creator. Their utility is restricted to distractions and confusion. A maximum of 2 clones can be created from one casting of this technique.

    Description: Created as a chakra control exercise.  The user projects chakra from their hand to generate a small orb typically between the size of a marble and a golf ball.  One formed the orb uses the energy stored inside of it to glow with a bright heatless light.  This light is the users colour of choice and will last for up to an hour before burning out.  This function is independent of the original caster.  

    As a source of illumination it's commonly used to indicate obstacles or advise caution on roadways at night as well as to perform hand signals.  

    Weaknesses: Having a bright light on you is a great way to give away your position.

    Description:
    This technique is most often used to disguise the user as another person, but they can also turn into an animal, plant, or inanimate object. Users will gain the attributes and physical features of whatever they transform into, such as a weapon's sharpness or an animal's fangs. The quality of the item or appendages cannot exceed D/D.

    Weaknesses: The user is limited to transforming into objects no smaller than 1/5 their size. The user cannot transform into items or creatures larger than themselves. This technique requires concentration. When the user suffers from exhaustion (below 30 CP) or receives a substantial blow the technique dispels automatically. A perceptive opponent may detect flaws, such as false smells or an intelligent opponent detecting inaccurate details. Despite taking on the properties of what they transform into the user can still receive damage as normal. This means transforming into a sword and clashing with another sword will result in the technique dispelling and the user getting injured. When taking on a creature's physical features this impacts your overall stat potential (aka no S-tier Strength birds flying through people.)

    Description: Tree Climbing Practice is a training method used to gain more skills with chakra control. This training involves focusing a fixed amount of chakra to the bottom of one's feet, and using that to climb a tree without using one's hands. If the stream of chakra is too weak, the user will lose their footing on the tree and fall off. If it is too strong, the user will be pushed away from the tree, causing the tree to break around the point of contact and the user will fall. The concept of this exercise is similar to magnetics and can be applied to other objects within close vicinity of the user's body, such as catching and throwing a kunai that comes within several inches of the user's foot by using chakra alone.

    Weaknesses: Inexperienced shinobi may lose focus and cause their chakra to become unstable, which will release any hold their chakra has on a surface and may even forcibly eject them off of it. This technique is automatically known by all characters.

    Description: This training method is used to gain better chakra control. To do this, the user has to be emitting a constant stream of chakra from the bottom of the their feet and using the repellent force to walk across the water's surface. This technique is more difficult to master than the Tree Climbing Practice, because the amount of chakra that needs to be emitted changes constantly.

    It has also been shown that one can use their chakra to "skate" across the water surface, like an ice skater, instead of just walking or running. And the more one trains this technique the more they reach a state where they stand on water without even noticing it or basically even trying.

    It doesn't have to just be at the feet. A user under water can focus chakra on their hands or any other body part that makes contact with the surface of the water. If they were submerged, they can climb atop the water as if they were climbing out of a pool.

    Weaknesses: Even Genin can sometimes have trouble with this technique, due to the constantly shifting nature of water, and as such may misjudge the flow of their chakra and fall into the water. This technique is automatically known by all characters.

    Weaknesses: Just like a full sprint the user must remain in a straight line in order to benefit from the bonus. If the user were to change direction they must reactivate the technique.

    Description:
    The process of this technique is as simple as the parent techniques. By focusing chakra on the user’s feet the user can apply the Fuuton Chakra to gain a special ability. Temporarily the user can ‘step’ on the air as if it was solid ground. Gravity still applies and for the brief moment the user steps it seems solid. But if the user stands still he/she will begin to fall. Gentle Step can be used to step up higher or the user can sprint through the air as their movement. While using this technique the user is treated like he/she has 1 advantage on Speed since the user travels slightly faster when using this technique.

    Weaknesses:
    Cannot stand still or else the chakra dissipates and the user will begin falling to the ground. Additionally if the user was falling from greater heights and they suddenly use this technique they still take damage from inertia and such. Least to say it is still going to hurt. Be warned that this technique applies for a whole second.

    To correct an error this technique was developed so when the user finds him/herself falling from greater heights they have an option to remedy that. By focusing the kneading Fuuton chakra to either the bottom of their feet or even their palms the user release a strong current of air by manipulating the surrounding wind to cushion and slow his/her fall. This technique allows for safe landing from great heights without worry of gravity damaging the body. The user may carry a single person provided they’re not over 200 lbs as they descend, and the user can more or less glide equivalent to 10 meters.

    Weaknesses:
    With elemental problems in effect it is possible that a small fire could get excited from the manipulation of wind and momentarily blaze bigger than it should. Negating this technique and potentially damage the user in the process. Additionally the winds are not strong enough to deflect projectiles so it is normally not used in combat.

Can also be used on self to commit suicide and completely destroy your body if caught or on the verge of death. When used this technique leaves no trace of a body behind whatsoever.

    Weaknesses: Must be used on either the user himself OR on a corpse OR a completely willing target.

    Description: The Shadow Clone technique creates replicas of the user, similar to the Clone Technique, but these clones are corporeal instead of illusions. Clones spawn next to the user. The clones are capable of performing techniques, including the Shadow Clone Technique itself, on their own and can even bleed, but will usually disperse after hit by a strong enough force. The clones can also disperse on their own or be dispelled by the user of the technique. This technique splits the user's chakra equally amongst however many clones they create.

    Weaknesses: In addition, the user must maintain general concentration to maintain their clone's presence. If at any time the user is inflicted with heavy damage in contrast with their Constitution all clones will be dispersed. Also the user must not fall under the exhaustion threshold (below 30% their chakra) to maintain or create clones. Clones have a max base Constitution of C (or lower if the user's base constitution is lower). If the user has natural S-Tier Constitution then it can be improved to B. If a clone has lower than 30 chakra, they will also be subject to the exhaustion penalty as per the Stamina rules.



    Genjutsu

Kunai knives are added to this technique, by throwing them to match illusions movement, making them seem real. As the clones continue to multiply rapidly, the victim will eventually be worn down.

    This technique covers a 30 meter diameter that can be cast 25 meters from the user.

    Weaknesses: This Genjutsu can be avoided by stepping outside of the field of influence.

    Description:
    This Genjutsu is triggered by the usage of a bell emitting a particular sound wave that travels from the inner ear to the brain. Once triggered, this Genjutsu will cause the opponent to hallucinate, seeing multiple images on the user and making it very hard to tell the real one from the illusions. Additionally, the target loses their motor skills with continued exposure to the ringing. This is manifested as a tier loss to Coordination.

    This technique takes two posts to set in and can affect multiple targets, and unlike most Genjutsu technique, deals D-rank damage to the inner ear of the target at the end of the two posts.

    Weaknesses: Every upkeep post must have the user ring the bell or chime they're using to continue the effects. Preventing the bell/chime from being rung or protecting you from its sound waves will nullify the technique.
    C rank - False Surroundings:

This technique's main feature is that it can be cast over an extensive surface, therefore any and all who step into the illusion's area of effect will fall under the spell. This technique allows the user to sculpt and shift the area into a place of their own choosing via illusion. This technique takes two posts to set in.

But sometimes, the ugly nature of the demon simply must surface. That brief moment where the Yokai forcefully reveals their most fearsome face is a moment few would like to experience a second time. The terror is so great, their hapless target momentarily loses control over their finer motor skills, turning their actions into a clumsy stumble (coordination: -1 tier, 1 post).

    Weakness: For each subsequent use on the same target (in the same thread), the target's mind improves its resistance against the 'unexpected'. The techniques's coordination penalty is lowered by 1 disadvantage every use after the first until it completely loses its effect.

    Description:
    The ability to float or fly in the air is an ability often attributed to the Yokai of lore. By combining and improving the principles of the 'Gentle Step' and 'Gentle Descend', the Yokai gains the ability to 'run on air' which not only allows them to safely ascend and descend in a similar way to aforementioned techniques, but also allows them to remain standing still/floating in the air - a feat which was not possible before.

    While using this technique, movement is slightly faster than normal. This results in a speed increase of ++.

    Weakness: As this is not a form of flight, this technique can't be used if the practitioner has their freedom limited (stun, paralysis, limbs shackled...). Suffering such limitations while in the air may result in a painful experience involving gravity and solid ground.

    Description: The mythological Tengu is seen in many different lights when it comes to its enigmatic existence. One of that is that of a nimble craftsman and warrior. The embodiment of war appeals to the Tengu of the Yokai clan, and therefore they created a fighting style which served as the base for many different weapons, no matter small or tall, one-handed or two-handed.

    The 'Tengu School' fighting style is one which blends deception and grace into one, turning even the lowest student into a flurry of strikes and steps.     Description: Tengu are masters of deception, and to that end they do not always require genjutsu. Making use of misdirection and optical illusion is just as much part of their repertoire. Ghost Cloth, inspired upon many ghost stories of yokai disappearing as soon as they are hit, makes use of simple cloth to recreate the impression of untouchability.

    By infusing a spark of wind chakra within their worn clothes, a whipping cloth or another piece of fabric, they displace their actual presence under the cloth and trick the opponent thusly into finding a false opening in the Tengu's defences.  

    The martial artist is granted a boost to speed (+++) to avoid an incoming attack.

    Weaknesses: This technique fails if the perception of the attacker is higher than the coordination of the martial artist using this technique.

This is a maneuvre specific physical technique for boosting purposes.

    All the while, this technique's whirling movements allow the martial artist to lash out at those standing within the weapon's reach as a counter-offensive, inflicting minor damage if they fail to avoid being hit.

    - This technique requires C-rank coordination at all times during its execution.

The Tengu School tends to rely on finesse and momentum to remedy that. By swinging their weapon in a wide arc around them in a circling motion, they mow down all those foolish enough to believe a cornered Tengu is a dead Tengu.

    This weapon technique grants a bonus to strength (+++) to determine its damage. If the technique is executed with Wind chakra, the execution speed of the technique is boosted instead, resulting in a bonus to Coordination (+++) rather than strength for that manoeuvre.

    - This technique requires a weapon with reach such as a glaive, spear, scythe, kusarigama or similar.

    Weakness: Because weapons are not the most efficient tool to trap people with, there are limitations to its power to keep someone caught. Anyone with a coordination higher than the user's coordination can slip out of the technique's grasp, though it would require a strength higher than the weapon's hardness rank to outright break out of it.

    Description: Using the kusarigama as a entrapment tool, the weapon's ability to render someone incapable of action is enhanced by the practitioner's ability to use the kusarigama as the base to carry a Fuinjutsu Seal. Shackled, the combination of a physical entrapment (kusarigama) and chakra entrapment (Seal), makes this a difficult one to escape from.

    To be more precise, the kusarigama will deny the target's ability to move in general, barring minor moves such as wriggling, hopping or forming (one-handed) seals. In other words, the target will greatly be hampered in their overall ability to move. The Fuinjutsu Seal further elaborated on this movement denial by sealing that ability. As such, not even minor gestures are allowed, resulting in a full physical paralysis. Though the flow, and therefore the use, of chakra is not prevented, it remains limited to those techniques which do not require any form of physical movement.

    Description:
    'Chain of Malice' is a technique intended to obstruct the opponent during close quarter combat. Using the chain as a means to parry, the practitioner swiftly wraps or flings it around the opponent's attacking arm right after. This shackles the victim to remain within close quarters while limiting their movement at the same time. The opponent will find that escaping and dodging the practitioner's grasp and strikes become increasingly more difficult (-1 tier coordination penalty) as their flexibility is compromised.

    If the practitioner so desires, they can release the opponent from their bounds in a particularly rough way. By stripping the chains off the arms with sheer raw strength, they give their opponent one last yank before possibly disarming them at the same time.

    Weakness: The practitioner should think carefully before binding someone into close quarters with them as this may end up being a double-edged sword.

    Despite the simplistic concept of the technique, the proper execution often requires far more skill than most give it credit for. Generally executed either from above or behind the intended target to give themselves the advantage of surprise, the practitioner wraps the chains of the kusarigama around their (unassuming) victim's throat with the idea to choke them or hang them up before the kama (the bird's beak) viciously rips them open in their defenceless or weakened state.

    This technique is executed with a bonus to coordination (+) and strength (+++).

    Weakness: The practitioner will either have to remain undetected before the attack, or compensate the lack of surprise with a higher coordination than their target. Without these, it might be nigh impossible to execute this successfully.

    Description:
    This technique creates a barrier around a place by placing four "forbidden" (禁, kin) tags in different locations surrounding the place to be protected, a fifth tag on the location to be protected. The tags are placed on flat surfaces, and are connected with the user's chakra. This technique turns the entire range surrounded by the tags into a barrier space, and inside the space, the material's destruction is "forbidden". Using any kind of physical attack to try and destroy something in the barrier is folly, as it will only lead to injury. To cancel this, it is necessary to search for the four tags and tear them off simultaneously. Even if the tags are removed, there is a final obstacle. The user can add a trap that will create perfect copies of those who have removed the seal, preventing them from returning immediately. Those who have removed the seal must spend two posts fighting their copies before defeating them.

    Description: The Shadow Clone technique creates replicas of the user, similar to the Clone Technique, but these clones are corporeal instead of illusions. Clones spawn next to the user. The clones are capable of performing techniques, including the Shadow Clone Technique itself, on their own and can even bleed, but will usually disperse after hit by a strong enough force. The clones can also disperse on their own or be dispelled by the user of the technique. This technique splits the user's chakra equally amongst however many clones they create.

    Weaknesses: In addition, the user must maintain general concentration to maintain their clone's presence. If at any time the user is inflicted with heavy damage in contrast with their Constitution all clones will be dispersed. Also the user must not fall under the exhaustion threshold (below 30% their chakra) to maintain or create clones. Clones have a max base Constitution of C (or lower if the user's base constitution is lower). If the user has natural S-Tier Constitution then it can be improved to B. If a clone has lower than 30 chakra, they will also be subject to the exhaustion penalty as per the Stamina rules.
