The gates had flung themselves open-- a maw into the beat of a green, and wild forest. A high perimeter of chain-link fence and barbed wire formed its skin, and its interior was teeming with life. Birds, insects, and all manner of howling things filled the air. For Irui, coming from a mountainous and icy region, the wonder of the jungle was almost distracting.
Almost. The two of them kept close, with Tsuki a few steps ahead. Through the din of the wilderness, a sound broke the cadence of bird calls. It was strange, broken, wait was someone dying up ahead? Irui stopped, and made a small, piercing hiss between his teeth, signaling to his Tatsuda partner, and nodded to the forest up ahead.
"Either they're really cocky or really stupid…" Tsuki muttered under breath. Irui cocked a smile, and touched the ground briefly.
One... No, two signatures.... He counted, signing the number and direction to his partner with his free hand. Without another means of detection, it was nigh impossible to see through the undergrowth. Tall trees and broad leaves blocked much of their view. However, it didn't stop Tsuki.
She was already on the move: conjuring a shadow clone from thin air. Immediately the doppelganger vanished into the canopy, while Irui
took to Tsuki's trail, following along at an arc. She was the more experienced one, he knew for certain, and followed her lead into the trees. He slipped through the branches, ducking and weaving, while keeping a bead on the opponent's signing below. Once they were in position, his hands cleanly knitted together into the Tiger seal.
Smoke and ash exploded through the branches and leaves, thickly enshrouding the forest floor. . Spewed from the Shadow Clones mouth, it quickly covered the area, boring down on the two below. The particulate screen would choke their vision and senses, stinging embers and flame would bite at their clothing. Tsuki's fire would spark a rush of adrenaline. Irui zeroed in on the two signatures below, extending his chakra beyond the reach of Tsuki's smokescreen. In the thick of the ashcloud, trees and features would blend, split, and distort, direction would become a foreign thing. Irui pressed upon the lizard-portion of the brain, distracting and blinding neurons. Direct force wasn't necessary here, they just had to keep them off-balance and aimless.
