Things Betwixt (Team K)

Zen sat in the tree tops at the back of the temple, he saw plenty of windows which he could crawl into in order to sneak up on the team, though the roof of the temple would provide him with a height advantage. The problem he had was the fact that the temple was smack dab in the middle of the clearing, meaning there was a fifty meter gap between where he was in the trees to the temple. It would leave him exposed and that was something he was not a fan of, not to mention he could already feel the strain of this encounter weighing on him. However with the pair's and Emiki's signature still reading from the front of the temple it was a risk that he would have to take, with the pair having made no move against him as he moved around in the forest Zen doubted they were able to sense his chakra. With any luck he would reach the temple without any trouble, Zen would reach into his pouch and pull out two of his military ration pills, he hated having to use them but he could not risk becoming exhausted in this fight. Popping one of them into his mouth the boy almost instantly felt the increase to his energy, taking in a deep breath the boy set his eyes upon his next task.

Once he was ready Zen would form the half tiger seal and burst from the tree line with increased speed, as he ran across the ground towards the temple. Once he was with 10 meters of the temple the boy would jump into the air channelling chakra to his feet as he did so allowing him to jump off the air itself to provide extra height to his jump, this mixed with his running speed would be enough to see him land on the mid section of the temple. Once he landed Zen would instantly pop the second military ration pill before slowly moving towards the front of the temple notching an arrow as he walked, with this height he would have a slight advantage however if he was not careful he could give his position away and lose that advantage.

Zeke burrowed under the ground as if he was swimming through liquid before finding a spot to sit in. He situated himself right under the entrance of the temple, ten meters downward. He found himself sitting there in the dark with the ground pulsating around him. A magnetic pulse sent out every second, detecting every little sensation that appeared out of the ordinary. He was safe underground for the moment. Even if the archer got the drop on them his arrows wouldn't be able to penetrate down that far. His explosive rounds would only reach halfway through the ground. Zenaku was moving around a bit no doubt scanning the area for any sign of the archer coming to save his partner. The girl was still passed out on the ground near the entrance. She wasn't moving too much but her position on the ground gave Zeke ample reach. Little did the archer know if he made an attempt to rescue her Zeke could use the surrounding area as a means to trap her and further the damage done to her body. The archer chooses to not come directly so that meant his partner was at stake. Zeke didn't like the idea of hurting someone so badly they wouldn't be able to continue the exams. But he was going to go the extra distance to reach his end goal. Reaching the final round was a must for him.

Everything seemed normal for the moment nothing was coming but that was not a good sign. There was no sign of the archer coming from any of the angles on the ground. He began to think, ' There was a possibility that the archer managed to get on top of the building from a different angle. Its been too long with no signs of the individual in question. Not to mention he could clearly tell where they were in the forest from a distance. So he had to have had sensory in his arsenal. Oh shit.' He thought while climbing up out of the ground. Zenaku was in danger of being ambushed since he was still in front of the place. Zeke's location was inside of the entrance of the temple. So from the roof, one couldn't see Zeke unless they were in front of the ruins. He waited to weave the hand signs to see if Zenaku would get attacked. So instead Zeke called out from inside of the temple. It would come off as pure paranoia but it was grounded paranoia. He wasn't sure if the archer was present but something clearly wasn't right here. Even if no one answered back Zeke stood by the ready to make the proper hand signs.

“If you are there archer, any attack on us spells excruciating pain for your partner.”

Zenaku knew that standing out in the open was not the best idea so he walked into the temple and looked around.  He saw the flow of chakra coming off of the girl and looking into the temple he saw the flow of his partner chakra flow. It had been a while sense any thing has happened so he wondered if the guy left and abandon his partner, or did he manage to get on top of the temple but unless something happened he would not know for sure which was a disadvantage. Zenaku knew one thing tho and that was they would still gonna need one more piece of artifact to pass the second part so zenaku started to look around the temple to see if he could find the second piece. Zenaku was picking things up like small objects and looked at them closely cause he wanted to make sure he found that artifact.

Emiki is out like a light. The jostling around causing her damages to be lightly worse, but she doesn't know that.

A frown would form on the boy's face as he sensed the movement of his targets going into the temple, he had not moved quick enough and now there would be no way of getting a shot off from this angle. Zen would have to think of another plan, though his targets did leave an opening for him to rescue Emiki by leaving her outside. Though Zeke's words made him consider the possibility of this all being a trap to draw him out, sure they left her unprotected but that did not mean they did not have a trap waiting to activate when he made a move. Zen would contemplate on whether or not he should waste his energy to save her from them, she wasn't much help to begin with and would be even less help in her condition now. He could carry her but that would just slow him down and make it harder for him to fight off the two, the boy then began to wonder if he should just leave the girl and use the time the pair was wasting in the temple to get a head start and get away from them. 'that will never work, they probably won't let me continue without a partner. That's the whole reason they partnered us up is it not' the boys mind racked the possibilities but it all came down to the fact that this was supposed to be a team effort and as of now he had no teammate, he was on his own facing a team that seemed to function properly. The boy was at a loss and no clue what he could do to improve the situation, he would inhale a breath to calm his nerves and clear his mind. This was just like the question he had faced in the written exam, when all hope is lost and faced with the impossible, what action does he take. He could face the challenge of the two head on, but that would not be smart as they were stronger than him as a team. He would have to stick to his own strength which was stealth and distance, yet neither of these were an option for him in this situation. Monitoring the chakra of the pair Zen could sense one just inside the entrance to the temple, not quite at the doorway but there was a good chance he was the look out. The other seemed to be moving around the temple, no doubt looking for a relic if there was one in there. Zen needed to make his move soon or risk losing the drop in them, knowing their exact location was the one and only advantage he has against them so he would use it.

Zen would put his normal arrow back into his quiver and grab one that had an explosive tag, notching it and readying himself. With their position in relation to his, what came next would be a matter of a few seconds. With his bow drawn Zen would leap off the roof, twisting his body into a flip and firing the arrow straight into the door way in less than a second from the time it left the bow. Unlike before Zen wasn't planning for a delayed reaction, as soon as the arrow left the bow Zen formed the half snake seal with his free hand activating the tag to explode. With his close proximity to the door as he was aiming to land right next to Emiki on the opposite side from the door, the arrow would enter the room in half a second. The five Meter blast would be enough to destroy most of what was within the room if not all of it, by then Zen would be on the ground next to Emiki. "Time to wake up girly, beauty naps over." He stated to the unconscious form of the girl as he picked her up, once the girl was on his shoulder the boy would jump up towards the roof. Though with the added weight he wouldn't make it all the way up causing him to have to scale jump up the temple using the wall walking technique to hold himself to the wall to prevent him from slipping back down, while taking more time than he would of liked to get back to the mid section of the temple it would still only be a few seconds.

Once back to his vantage point Zen would set Emiki down, if she hadn't woken up from his comment earlier and him moving her he would slap her across the face. "Come on speedy, I could use some help here." Before turning and readying his bow by notching an arrow and awaiting to see the pairs move now.

Zeke watched carefully as his words were not met with any sort of response. He at there with his hands at the ready to form the hand signs needed. Zenaku said nothing and began to walk towards Zeke to make his way into the temple. Zenaku was going to leave the prisoner unguarded. To do what? Zeke had no clue but he wasn't going to let the prisoner be left alone. As Zenaku stepped away Zeke made the proper hand seals, Boar-Ox then he slammed his hands onto the ground. The ground under the girl opened up and spiraled in on itself. In such a way that it pulled her into the ground and clamped down on her body hard, further causing pain on the girl and her injuries. It left her body completely entrapped by the earth with her head exposed so she can breathe. Zeke stood back up with his work complete he could rest knowing she wasn't going anywhere any time soon.

Zenaku walked into the temple passed Zeke and made his way inside. Then it would come the archer flipped off of the building and fired an arrow. While he was mid-air Zeke reacted on instinct. Zeke thrust his palms forward causing a explosion to erupt forward, aimed at the head/chest of the individual in question. The explosion was a meter in diameter and covered the distance between the entrance and where the archer was in less than a second. The arrow zoomed above right past Zeke into the connecting room that Zenaku went into. An explosion erupted behind Zeke, which he hoped that Zenaku would be okay. But now the archer had revealed himself, he did not have any intention of surrendering. That much was clear so they had to do things the hard way.

It was not until after he walked past zeke that he thought to him self that he missed up and forgot to grab the woman and bring her with him cause now she was tied up at the entrance of the temple. He turned around to go back and grab her but then saw that zeke had used a earth style technique that made a earth dome to grow over the womans body. " My bad Zeke I shall try to be more aware of my actions next time." Zenaku said but sense he was looking towards zeke at that moment he noticed that the sniper had flipped down and was mid air with his arrow pulled back. So with out thinking zenaku preformed five hand seals then spat out a large amount of water from his mouth. The water formed a dome around him which turned out to be a smart idea cause a second later the arrow he fired exploded causing some of the roof to collapse around him so now he was cut off from his partner. He thought to him self that using the water jutsu was a good idea as it kept him from being blown up but now he did not have much room to move tho at least he managed to save the area where all the stuff was so sense he could not get out just yet he continued to look for the artifact piece. " hey zeke I'm stuck in here I shall try to find a way out in one piece." Zenaku said tho hopefully zeke understand that message that he was trying to find the artifact piece so they could have two, then once he dealt with the sniper they could take his piece also.

Within the temple's entryway Jin would find himself inside a massive room lit with oil lanterns. The perimeter of the room was forty meters of all sides and in the center was a small pedestal with a White Queen piece. There would be no foul shenanigans at play from what Jin could tell.

OoC:

Zen's leap into the air to save his comrade was met with confusion when he caught a glance of where Emiki should be only to see dirt, however he didn't have time to contemplate the matter. Firing his arrow and forming the snake hand seal to detonate the tag attached to it, Zen planned to just do a rush attack against the pair if they survived the blast of his tag, it would be his last ditch effort in his attempt to beat the pair. Unfortunately for the boy the last thing he remembered was forming the half snake seal with his free hand, before nothing but darkness. His body falling limp to the ground, the force of the strike that hit him enough to knock him out cold. His goal to save his partner lost into the darkness of the void, as was his chances at the finals.

Zeke's attack was a success and sent the boy flying backward. But Zeke wasn't out of the water just yet. An explosion erupted behind him blowing him forward out of the entrance of the ruins. The shock wave slammed into his back and upper part of his neck. He flipped forward and landed on his back. It knocked the air out of him completely causing him to gasp for air. He laid on the ground for a moment gasping for air with a stinging sensation on the back of his neck and back. He couldn't get up for a moment but writhe in pain. 'Ouch,' he thought while laying there on the ground for a bit. Thankfully the archer got a hit much worse and wasn't getting up any time soon. So Zeke could lay there for a bit to compose himself. After about five or ten minutes he sat up still in pain. He noticed the girl was still passed out with her head above the ground and the boy laying not too far from her.

He slowly got to his feet rubbing the back of his neck then moving to rub his back. Thankfully the chain mail shirt he was wearing offered a bit of protection but it still hurt regardless. He slowly shuffled over to the boy passed the girl. He got down on one knee and began to rummage through the boy's belongings looking for the artifact. It wasn't long before Zeke found it on the archer. He smiled before shuffling back towards the entrance and sitting down near the entrance. He placed his back on the wall next to the entrance. He let out a sigh of relief as the fight was finally over. Hopefully, Zenaku found the piece inside of the ruins without any problem.

Zenaku could feel the explosion though his defense and he wondered if zeke was ok, but sense he could not get to him from where he was zenaku decided to look around some more. As he was looking around though all the junk he noticed something catch his eye from inside a large well lit room so walking in he saw the artifact piece he been looking for but before he grabbed it he looked around cause in these days traps was every where you looked.

Once he noticed that there was none zenaku walked over and grabbed it, once he had it he placed it in with the other one. Sense he was not having to fight any more for the moment he deactivated his sharingan and began to look for a exit from where he was. " dang I hope things do not turn south before I can make it to the final round." Zenaku said to his self as he found a window so he crawled though it as he walked on top of the building as he then jumped down in front of zeke as he raised his arm.

" Yo, looks like things are looking are way.but we should not be hanging out in the open like this."

Zeke sat on the ground for a moment gathering himself and letting the pain slowly dissipate. He looked into the sky with a smile on his face. It was slowly falling into the night as the sun began to fall on the horizon. Zenaku came out of a nearby window and landed near Zeke. He walked over and offered a hand. Zeke took it and got to his feet. He dusted himself off while Zenaku spoke. “Yea I guess things are looking our way and you are right we should get going. Don't wanna get caught out with our pants down.” Zeke took a step feeling his body ache all over from the explosion. Then he noticed a beam of light off in the south shoot into the sky. The ground shook a bit as well. 'Looks like some other fighting is going on. Best we find a place to rest.' he thought to himself as he headed the opposite direction towards the north end of the forest. “Let's head back into the forest and find a place to rest and hide out the rest of the exam.” With that, he headed off towards the north portion of the forest. “We can leave those two here, someone will come to pick them up most likely or they will find their own way out we can't carry them around. That would be meaning holding onto extra weight for no reason. I got their relic.” He would then leave the area.

By the time Zen returned to consciousness the pair that had attacked them was long gone, Zen couldn't sense them with his chakra sense meaning they had gotten pretty far away by now. He had no idea which way they went or how long ago they left, but none of that mattered now. Looking over Zen could see Emiki's head sticking out of the ground, his head pounding from the massive headache he had now the boy would get to Emiki and start stabbing the ground around the girl to try to loosen it so he could pull her out. "Come on Speedy, time to wake up. We got a lot of ground to cover, and twice as much work now." Once he got Emiki free and awake/calmed down from the pain she is suffering from, they would take their leave, heading towards the center of this forest. If Zen could not get Emiki to calm down and not scream, he would slap her across the face. "Listen I know you're in pain but you're gonna have to shut the fuck up, there are still others out there. Now we need to get moving we lost a lot of time, if you can't handle it you have a radio you can call a proctor. But I am goin on ahead, I will complete this exams. We just have to find 2 relics now."

Emiki's body was in serious pain from not just breaking her body, but the rough treatment afterwards, it was clear she to her she woudn't be able to continue giving Zen a weak wave to go on without her and picking up her radio, she would give the proctor a call, which contained mostly muffled screams and pained whimpers. As she waited for a proctor to pick her up and drag her off to the hospital to get patched up.

While dreadfully embarrassed, next Chuunin Exams she would be more ready and in better shape to handle her shenanigans and would be more than capable of crashing through the competition. But for now she needed all the drugs and to get patched up. Hopefully her teammate would be fine without having to look after her sorry butt dragging him down.
