Studies and their values Empty Studies and their values

Post by Tadara Thu Dec 10, 2020 4:05 pm

Tadara had become accustomed to visiting the jutsu libraries at the academy as a student and the habit had stuck with him. There were no rules forbidding graduated students from entering the premises so he had decided to continue his studies here in the library on his own. Tadara was no fool and therefore knew he wasn't physically able as of yet to be a combatant in the field. That said his particular fields of study were mostly support based. In due time he would find a lab once more and continue his work as a researcher but given the state of the nation...he was enlisted now. Soon they would send him on a mission and he needed to be useful in some way. For now his skills in chemistry wouldn't cooperate with his budget so that meant studying up on ijutsu. He would move on to ninjutsu and then genjutsu after but for now the healing arts held his focus. So he was within the medical section of the library. Searching through the documents there and focusing on the lower ranked ones first. For Tadara everything needed to be built up from the foundation. To learn higher ranks he must first understand lower ranked jutsu. Not that he could really use any jutsu with his minimal chakra pool. A few jutsu maybe but he would need to calculate it. Not to mention if he were targeted in the field as the team medic someone would need to save him.

As little of a fan as Tadara was of that he had come to the library today with eagerness in his mind. For now he was wearing black slacks with a white button up shirt. A black coat on due to the cold snow covered mountain range they resided in. He was seated at a desk with a mound of jutsu scrolls next to him and a notebook with a pen in his hand. His other hand fiddling with a necklace as dark eyes seemed to read studiously from behind white bangs. Not many others were even at the academy given the winter break. Which the higher ups decided was needed after the end of the war. At least for the students. Teachers were being assigned during this time to missions in a desperate attempt to regain funding. For now he jotted down notes on Chakra palm and reverse chakra palm. Noting how one could remove ailments and the other could with enough strikes paralyze. They were the only two common D rank medical jutsu he had not memorized up until that point.

However his attention would turn from those two as he folded the scroll back into a roll and sealed them before putting them to a new stack to his left. His attention turning for the time being to a new couple of scrolls. Color coded for one C rank and a B rank. He couldn't learn all these jutsu yet because he lacked the finesse hand movements but the ones he could learn he focused on. The first was chakra scalpel. Jotting down the hand seals in his notebook. Tiger → Horse → Rabbit → Rat → Dog. It noted that it required a great deal of hand eye coordination to use in combat so he would avoid that for now. Instead he would look to the B rank technique based on chakra scalpels. A delicate illness extraction technique. This one was a lengthy description but his brilliant mind was able to understand it and jot down more notes on it. Oblivious to anyone coming or going from the library around him.

Studies and their values Empty Re: Studies and their values

He wore a bright grin. His brother did the same as they played tag along their way to their destination. It was kind of ninja training or so Hitotsu thought. After all, being able to dodge someone's touch sometimes was the meaning between life and death, and despite Hitotsu not having much experience, he could do whatever he knew to help his brother be ready to become a genin.

Despite his rank versus his brother, the dynamic was pretty clear that Ichimaru was much geared toward physical combat whereas Hitotsu focused more on ninjutsu. He leapt forward but Ichimaru evaded the attack pretty cleanly, and the only reason Hitotsu could keep up with him at this stage was because he was two years older and therefore had more training and experience. Nevertheless, he realized it would be soon that his brother would be too quick to tag or even dodge. It made him happy.

"You're getting too fast for me Ichi', but to pass the genin examinations you are going to have to get better at studying!" He teased the younger ninja hopeful as by then they had arrived at their target building--the academy. Hitotsu's father tasked him with ensuring that Ichimaru sat down and did some actual studying, and so Hitotsu obeyed his father. He looked at the building with a degree of nostalgia as he hadn't been there since graduating. He had alot of memories though, and focused on it for a moment as he flashbacked to his tenure at the academy.

"Hurry up Hito..Let's study so we can go eat!"

Hitotsu broke from the illusions of the past as he peered toward Ichimaru with a brow raised. He then told him that he planned to make sure he studied, but wasn't intending to help him beyond supervise. His younger brother groaned and they entered the academy. He greeted those he knew happily, and seemed to smile at those he made eye contact that he did not know. They navigated the building until they could see the library from the glass wall which separated it from the hallway. Upon entering, the smell of paper and the tranquility of students studying hit him like a blast.

"I can't believe how much I've missed this place.." He murmered to his brother as he peered around. His brother called him a nerd and went to begin studying; leaving Hitotsu to some light observation but otherwise to do whatever he wanted while he waited. It wasn't long before he honed in on the ninja studying. He found it odd that he saw a headband in the small pond of faces at the reading tables. He approached cautiously but realized then that he recognized the kid. He was a prodigal mind but someone Hitotsu had not met.

"Still studying for the genin exam?"a He peered downward as he stood at the foot of the table to see what book he was reading. The question was a joke, and would be given alongside a small chuckle and a friendly expression that was coupled by bright blue orbs.

Medical ninja, huh? That makes sense..

"I'm Kotoshura Hitotsu..I think we were in the academy together.."

Studies and their values Empty Re: Studies and their values

Post by Tadara Thu Dec 10, 2020 7:13 pm

Tadara was virtually oblivious to the presence of others as he shifted through his scrolls. He was studious at least yet as he did a bee would pop out of his sleeve. It's wings fluttering against his skin to get his attention. Dark eyes would shift from the two B rank scrolls he was placing open next as the others had been rolled up and placed on the studied pile to his left. His dark eyes looking to the bee a moment before glancing up. Two young men had entered and one was walking in his direction. Or rather not men but mere boys. Barely having hit puberty by the look of them. This caused a frown to enter the young mans face as dark eyes regarded them. Before glancing back to the scrolls at hand. Mystical palm technique followed the science well enough. Two hand signs and then a placement on the wound to increase the healing process. Rapidly producing the bodies own white blood cell count and then...well it took time to fully heal someone so it wasn't as useful mid combat but it held a purpose still. He had begun jotting down notes on it as one of the two boys...the older of the two approached him. Making a jest and then introducing himself. To which Tadara would glance over his notes before speaking plainly.

"I am Kamizuru Tadara. If we did attend together it was briefly. I was a researcher before this and was only conscripted due to the recovery after the war. However Personally I am against child soldiers. I hope you don't intend to fight any time soon....or you're young companion. Dead children are always a tragedy"

The second of the two scrolls caught his attention as dark eyes shifted to look it over. The bee rising with a buzz to settle on his shoulder as it watched the young man. It knew Tadara had a tendency of being rude without realizing it and often there was backlash from it. Still Tadaras eyes took in the second technique. This one was good. He could use it offensively within an instant so long as he knew the poison he wished to use. An excellent escape technique should he be engaged directly in combat. He would jot down notes on it as well for future use with intentions to study up on some poisons. All that was left next to him now was a single scroll marked for A rank. he was studying well beyond his rank yet he seemed comfortable enough. Still the bee would buzz next to his ear to remind him he was mid conversation.

"Ahh.. Yes. Well perhaps you have only come to improve your skills for when you age into becoming a true soldier yes? Commendable to wish to improve for the future. I suppose the lower rank missions are still viable for our youth though. Chores and scouting often aren't dangerous enough to be considered the work of a soldier after all."

Studies and their values Empty Re: Studies and their values

Post by Kotōshura Hitotsu Thu Dec 10, 2020 7:40 pm

When he arrived to the table, to start a conversation, he didn't know he was about to receive a lesson in the current war and alliances being crafted. That being said, it did pertain to him and he blinked a bit to provide a small period of silence that could be perceivably awkward. He then scrunched his nose as his palms leaned against one of the chairs at either vertical board that crafted the frame for the back where his digits wrapped around it.

"Oh, well, there are plenty of jobs that need to be done that don't involve combat...Ultimately though, we are here to prepare to serve The Hidden Stone dutifully. If that means fighting, then that's what we trained for,"he replied with a bright and perhaps innocent smile. Hitotsu had indeed seen the boy one way or another, even if it wasn't in the academy. The Kotoshura displayed a strong sense of loyalty and a sense of duty to the village in which he had joined.

He ultimately gave the other ninja a shrug before pulling out the chair and taking a seat. He was perhaps oblivious to the lack of etiquette he displayed in doing so, or perhaps he did realize it but wanted to prod the genius either way. Hitotsu couldn't help but be curious about the older male.

"So you were conscripted into the ninja? How does that happen?" Hitotsu didn't hesitate to fire out his first question. He had never heard of someone being forced into the military, as most ninja were there because their parents were ninja. It was a cycle that fueled the village so he wondered why they were passing laws to prevent underage ninja from serving in combat. That's what they were there for right?

Hitotsu had his elbow upon the table, with his palm angled upwards, chin settled into it as he grabbed one of the books lying around from a previous reader and flipped it open. He glanced over the page it was on before peering back at his brother. It seemed like he was concentrating so Hitotsu looked back toward Tadara as he answered the question.

Studies and their values Empty Re: Studies and their values

Post by Tadara Thu Dec 10, 2020 8:44 pm

Tadara would tap the A rank scroll in three places. Most shinobi who reached about jounin rank would be told the combination to open the scroll but for Tadara he simply needed to study it a moment. A dangerous jutsu for others to try. Still the mechanisms holding the scroll closed would begin to turn. His dark eyes shifting to the boy across from him as he sat down. Most didn't bother with Tadara as he lacked social skills. He was a researcher up until then because he lacked the social skills to be a doctor. His eagerness to learn and discover trumping any niceties. Yet despite how rude he was this one didn't seem to mind him much. Instead sharing his own views and not throwing a tantrum over Tadara's offensive speech. So Tadara would pay attention to him more. He had no time for those who responded with anger over thought. Emotions over knowledge meant little to him. Still the question hung in the air. How does one get conscripted into the armed forces? Did he mean what was the process? No not likely. He perhaps was more curious as to the why. Yes that was how Tadara chose to answer the question.

"Iwagakure suffered defeat recently and has to rebuild. Even now a great deal of resources are being paid to Konoha and our forces have suffered from our loss. In my case I am a medical specialist with potential. To keep what soldiers they have left alive I received orders to step out of the background and into active duty. No tool unused as it were."

The scroll would finally click and the lock would be released. He hadn't asked anyone permission to access this but he hardly thought it mattered. Iwa was probably desperate for power. Regardless of who died in the process it sought independence. To Tadara his conscription was just another way to keep fatalities at a lower statistic. His hands would reach out quietly to open the scroll and to his surprise there were three techniques there. All of them high level medical techniques mostly designed for implant surgeries. His eyes scanned the first of them as he thought it over. Mulling it through his mind. The first was a technique that he couldn't do on his own as he was anyway. It required four med nin with the technique and a single sign held. The Hare. He would scribble down notes on it and the possibilities it provided. One simply needed to expand their own abilities and short of complex organs like the eyes or brain he would be able to regenerate limbs even. Given time. Most of these medical techniques held one thing in common. Time. Still he would glance up between studying jutsu.

"Still you seem mature for your age group. Perhaps you will survive after all. One must know to pick their battles though. Blind loyalty is blind even when led to death like a pawn on the chess board. Think and then act and you will get much further young Hitotsu. That way you can avoid my surgical table. I have seen wounds in my studies that will traumatize those effected every time."

He was referring to burns and removed limbs mostly. No one forgot that kind of pain easily. Speaking of the next technique was preemptive healing but it stated cleanly that it does nothing for the pain. One had to be able to stay conscious and focused through the damage to heal it. As well as to predict it. Interesting. Also with no hand seals so very viable. His hand quickly jotted down notes in his notebook before shifting to the last of the three. Another one for surgery. This one though only affected those born outside of a bloodline. For implants it repaired damaged tissue as they operated and increased the chances of success by a marginal amount. A pity that it couldn't be improved upon but for now he had finished jotting down notes on all the scroll had to offer. He would tap the lock on it in three places once more and it would ravel closed. Sealing once more as he sighed and spun his pen idly between two figures. That was all the library had to offer for medical for the time being that he was capable of preforming. Still those black eyes would shift to his companion as he sat back in his chair.

"Would you mind assisting me with returning these scrolls? I intend to study ninjutsu next but I would prefer not to be cluttered."

Studies and their values Empty Re: Studies and their values

Post by Kotōshura Hitotsu Fri Dec 11, 2020 11:07 am

Hitotsu had a book open but to say he was actually reading it was really not true. He was instead watching the medical ninja in front of him working with the scrolls. He hadn't really even tried to access the scrolls that were forbidden to ninja of his rank and skill-level, and so he was intrigued to see them being accessed properly. Of course, even as he watched Tadara do so, Hito had little understanding of how it was done and couldn't do it himself even after observing the process.

    Click..

His eyes widened as the chakra-infused mechanism unlocked the scroll so that it could be unraveled. Moments before he had been talking about The Hidden Stone's recent history and the war for independance which left the village's forces severely limited. It was something that he had been lectured by his father about and was the primary reason they needed more academy students being promoted into the rank of genin and ninja.

He peered toward the bee hovering around the man curiosly also (didn't mention it earlier but I looked it over in the post you mentioned it so i was referencing it here). It left him wondering just what the ninja world had in store for him. His cousin Yui was a sight to behold, his father was a chuunin and there were ninja who were capable of all types of feats and abilities that just seemed so odd. Tadara was part of a clan that commanded bees and were able to give fertility to the Land of Earth--it was amazing.

"My father told me all about it..That's why they need my brother and me more than ever," spoke as an indoctrinated young member of the indigenous. The nationalism leaked from his voice indiscriminately and he mulled over the words of Tadara as he moved onto how Hitotsu should seek to survive and make moves in his ninja career with vigilance. He didn't really understand death or even killing, what he did not had been saturated in fantasizing and idealism so he couldn't comprehend what it meant to watch someone lose an arm or leg.

While he responded to Tadara, as he had thought over the question during the span of time he said that and when he requested Hitotsu help him removing all the scrolls--Hito gathered the unused scrolls as well as the book he had been pretending to read before putting them back in their specific areas. It had been so long since he had been here that it took a minute or two to find the places they belonged but it didn't take him too far from the Tadara. Once he was done, he returned to the table after taking a quick glance towards his brother.

"The ninja way is my life...heh. I was meant to be a ninja since the day I was born so it's all that I am. And don't worry about me, I promised my dad that I would become a jounin and lead my clan with Ms. Yui!" Hitotsu was indeed the hope of his immediate family.  His father had placed hopes in him that he would lead the clan after Yui passed as he knew that he had hit his own ceiling some time ago. Of course, there was nothing cemented but Hitotsu had the hope-filled zeal that it was.

"So..even though you were kind of forced into the army, you're okay with it?" So much conversation had passed since he had asked about the conscription, but it was a line of questions lingering in his mind. From Hito's perspective though, it seemed as though the medical-focused man was embracing it as he was immersed in learning about medical ninjutsu and practices.

Studies and their values Empty Re: Studies and their values

Post by Tadara Fri Dec 11, 2020 2:15 pm

The young man seemed eager to talk even though Tadara seemed distracted. Always lost in thought. His bee would fly up to his ear and buzz to bring his attention back to his conversational partner. His black eyes shifting to the young man. Promises huh? One should never promise anything. Their word was only so strong and when they failed it would reflect on their character. He mentioned his father had told him all about the war but based on the lack of fear....somethings had likely been omitted from the story. War was tragedy in the making. Men, women and children with their bodies burned and scattered all for some ones ideals. Still the boy would help gather the scrolls and Tadara would pocket his notebook before doing the same. Putting everything back for his part of it where he had found it. With picture perfect memory he didn't really even have to look for the labeled locations. Just absently put them back before moving the ladder to the non elemental ninjutsu section. Collecting all the scrolls he could from there. He made a mental note to eventually condense the scrolls all down into one book for easy access. Well for him his notebook would handle that.

Tadara would return with an armful of scrolls and set them stacked to the side before picking up a couple of them and opening them starting from the lower ranked ones. Color coded for D rank. Along with a couple of C rank ones. He would begin to read along the beginning of them. It appeared that Haze clone, body flicker and temporary paralysis technique was simple enough to memorize. One was a trap technique. Creating an illusion clone to draw out an enemy. The body flicker was good for a quick escape if the situation grew out of hand while the paralysis would be good for capturing enemies in the future. In combination with his bee's it would be an easy tactic to work with. Funny enough all three of them used the tiger seal in some manner. Either a half seal, the second seal or a full seal. One he had no doubt would repeat in future techniques. He would scribble down the information on all three before a sentence from the young man who had returned caught his attention. Dark eyes shifted up with a reminder from a bee buzzing on his ear before he spoke in return finally.

"Yui? So you're focus must be on combustion techniques then. I didn't notice any mouths on your hands.... Is your bloodline not born with them?"

He would blink a couple of times as he turned his attention back to the two C ranks now layed over the D rank scrolls. Ahh now these were more effective. The hiding in shadows technique and the body elimination. How interesting. One could overload chakra coils in the body of a willing or dead target or even themselves. By doing so the body would be engulfed in flame from itself overheating regardless of not having the katon element. As for hiding in shadows...it would be a good technique for a stealth type like Tadara. However being detected by chakra sensory was a mess. Not to mention that if he were attacked while in the shadow he would still sustain damage. A pity. Still that tiger sign would rear its head again. Amusing. However his attention would be brought back as a question was poised to him as he scribbled it all in his notebook.

"Hmm? Oh no it's no bother. I'm not a front line fighter but more of a scout and a medic. Any team I support will rush to my aid I'm sure. Seeing as my medical skills are valuable. I don't suspect I'll ever be in any real danger. Even if it does happen my intent would be to escape rather than risk any real permanent damage."

Studies and their values Empty Re: Studies and their values

Post by Kotōshura Hitotsu Sat Dec 12, 2020 11:06 am

Hitotsu realized that he could be doing the very same thing that the older ninja was doing while he waited on his brother. After all, since ninjutsu was his primary focus, it made sense that he would learn as many techniques as he could to create variety within his skill set. As of right now, he didn't have any applications to his ninjutsu beyond offensive, and he knew the s taple of Earth was a good defense. As for lightning, there were also many techniques that could help him. He went to grab some scrolls for himself.

He wasn't as ambitious as Tadara, and upon return, only toted one or two technique scrolls--both of which were desginated as C-ranks from the coloring system of the library. He sat down and looked them over, at which point the question about his bloodline technique was posed. It made him frown a bit initially, as he was a bit sensitive about the fact that he hadn't learned any of the Blast release techniques or the physical changes that came alongside them. He glanced from the scrolls before him with his two blue orbs and let out a sigh before answering the question.

"Uh, well, I haven't learned our bloodline limit yet...heh.." There was a pause then before he continued speaking, indicating that he held a fair amount of embarrassment and shame for not having tapped into the power of his clan quite yet.

"And the whole mouth in your hands thing is a specific kinjutsu. We aren't born with it..it's just most of my clan learn it early on...I haven't yet," He unraveled the scroll before him as he began reading. While he read, that would give Tadara time to comment on his words as well as get out the information regarding his conscription and his sentiments toward it. The scroll in which he read was a defensive.

The technique was called Earthshore Return. It was an earthern-style technique in which the user was required to cast three handseals in conjunction with slamming their hands upon the ground. The proess would mold and create the earth-style chakra, and with the slam upon the ground, it would then transfer the chakra into the ground while simultaneously causing that earth to shift and mould to the technique's desired fruits.

It wasn't that difficult, ranked at C-rank meant it was just at the ceiling of Hitotus's capacity for ninjutsu. He began by reading the first bit of information which contained the handseals, chakra control mastery level and complexities of moulding the chakra efficiently in order to perform the technique. It moved onto different applications as well as what exactly the technique would be in the end when it was brought into fruition.

When one slammed their hands into the ground, it would erect a earthern construct from the ground that would more or less cover his person and maybe one other if they were close to him. It was in fact a wall, designed to block damage from medium-level techniques for the user of the technique. It seemed relatively simple but as far as practicality--it seemed like something that would save Hitotsu for taking the brunt of damage in a situation where he had to defend himself.

Ultimately though, it didn't take long to consume the information. By the time he had finished, Tadara had just finished speaking which allowed him to fluidly transition into replying after reading. By the sound of it, he didn't mind being in the military but he also didn't believe in some of the practices. He didn't believe in child soldiers from the sound of it, and he didn't fancy the idea of having to fight. Hitotsu peered up from the scroll as he glanced towards the other ninja, his hand rolling over the bottom of the scroll as he began to ravel it back into place.

"Have you been on any missions yet outside of the village yet?" Hitotsu honed in on the comment about the squadron and ran with it. Hitotsu wanted to go outside the village and do a mission somewhere he had never been before. That being said, he was only a D-class ninja and he knew it would likely be quite a while before he was able to. Nevertheless, he sought to learn what he could about people's exploits outside of the village. He found stories pretty interesting.

Studies and their values Empty Re: Studies and their values

Post by Tadara Sat Dec 12, 2020 11:57 am

Tadara would flip the page as he glanced over the techniques he had taken notes on so far. Jutsu all seemed so rudimentary though he didn't have the chakra pool to really utilize many of them at the moment. He would make a mental note to work on increasing that. Likely through meditation or simply flexing his chakra pathways. Surely it built up just like any other muscle. He wouldn't note the frown or tone in the conversational partners voice though the bee would buzz in his ear for ignoring it. His eyes shifted up but he barely noted the others discomfort. Mastery of clan techniques took time. It was interesting to learn they were not born with the mouths though. Still he would note yet another jutsu with the tiger sign. Ahh a genjutsu defense. Now that was useful. This required one to focus chakra into their brain to break out of one genjutsu at a time....hmm inefficient but for now it would have to do. Still the question on if he had ever done a mission outside of the walls drew his attention back to the boy. Dark eyes would study him now as he considered the question. His attention for once fully upon the boy as he sat up. Distracted from his studies now. When he spoke it was plainly said. No tricks or niceties.

"You shouldn't be eager to go outside. The reports of whats out there is death. The walls and higher ups protect us here. If you rush out to fight for glory too early you come back a corpse."

The bee would bite his ear and he would wince a little before he hand lifted to brush it off his ear gently. Not actually batting at it. He had been rude and the bee had called him on it. Still his attention seemed to return to his studies as he looked over the remaining two scrolls. The first of them was a giant shuriken technique. Growing projectiles up to ten times their size when thrown. Well now that could be useful in conjunction with virtually any ranged projectile jutsu. He knew there were a couple of clan techniques he could learn particular to that style of attack. Launching a hundred or even a thousand stingers at an opponent. It wasn't highly damaging to just get hit by a couple but it already created a huge amount of projectiles in a wall. To turn those stingers into senbon would mean certain death. However his attention was more directed to the last of the C rank non elemental techniques. For the first time a smile would form on his face. This by far was a technique that would do him wonders. Focused amplification Already he was seeing the combination he could do with his bee's. Increasing their range and speed. Making him highly effective at ranged combat. All it required was a snake seal for him. With that he would roll up the scrolls and blink a couple of times. Glancing to his study companion as if discovering he was studying for the first time as well. Tadara would continue to scribble his own notes in his notebook about the techniques as he spoke. He seemed distant but not against the company.

"If you are finished with those young man I would like to go and gather more scrolls. I think I will look into the B rank category next. Perhaps even some A ranks. Would you mind helping me collect them again? I can order us lunch if you intend to stick around and study."

Studies and their values Empty Re: Studies and their values

Post by Tadara Fri Dec 18, 2020 12:01 pm

The boy seemed to ignore him as he became lost in his own world. To this Tadara would blink but ignore it ultimately. The sudden shift in socializing didn't bother him as it left him to his own devices. An abrupt end to conversation felt odd but he wouldn't fuss over it. Instead Tadara would set about putting away all the scrolls he had meddled with for the day and move to a seat to review his notes. The tiger sign was present in a lot of techniques making it in his opinion a good foundation for jutsu. Calmly he would open his notebook and review all the techniques he had studied that day. The chakra palm and reverse chakra palms were interesting at least. As for the other two on that page, chakra scalpels and delicate illness extraction were both items any medical professional needed in his opinion. The next page held the mystical palm technique and a poison mist technique. The second one would be highly useful if he were ever cornered. The next page held more advanced notes. Yin Healing Wound Destruction, Healing Resuscitation Regeneration Technique and Cell Activation Technique. All powerful techniques he wouldn't be able to maintain long in his current state.

He would put away that notebook and pull out one with the label for ninjutsu on the front. The next part of his studies had been focused in Ninjutsu. The first page had haze clone, a paralysis technique and a technique called body flicker. Good for distractions, takedowns and escapes. The next page of course was the next level of that. Body elimination and hiding in shadows. A stealth technique and a way to eliminate bodies should he need to infiltrate and sabotage at some point. After that was Ninja Art: Shuriken Giant Body Technique and genjutsu Kai. More lethality at a range and a genjutsu defense. But his largest interest was in focused amplification. It would do wonders for his bee's. With that satisfying him for the day Tadara would close the notebook and pocket it before heading home to eat. It had been a lot to memorize for the day.
