Forges In Mists

Valen rolled his neck as he set down the iron he had brought with him to day in order to practice with. He had started researching into becoming a weapon crafter. A process which took much longer due to his less than stellar reading speed. However the short man was working on that front as well. Regardless it had in fact in the end required him to go to weapon smith for help in learning how things were done. The man had been kind and polite, and willing to teach Valen. Now however it was Valen's first time working alone on an order for that man's shop. If he succeeded he would be able to use the forge for his own orders and such and as much practice as he wanted so long as he provided the materials. So without further ado the young man began to ply the craft he had begun to learn.

Taking the iron he had brought, ten units of it for a total of five swords he would be creating for an order. He would begin his work. First he would take the iron and heat it in the forge before using his tongs to remove it from the heat and beginning to hammer away at the metal, forming it into shape. This process would take a few hours, needing to angle to strikes properly to make a good edge on the katana. Since it was a katana it was a single edged piece of equipment so he only had to worry about one side, which was good but it would still take time to hammer everything into shape. Valen would work diligently however and continue his work until he was done.

With the final swing of the hammer and the settling of the blade into the water to cool it, the hiss of steam would rise throughout the air. Withdrawing it from the water and setting it aside. Valen would begin to polish the last of the five katana he had created, slowly adding a beautiful shine to it. It was a quality the one could find in the market just down the road. Finishing up the polish he would nod to himself in satisfaction, this was a good start. Gathering up the blades into the sheathes he'd made with them. The new weapon crafter would begin to take them home.

After a night of rest the budding craftsman returns to the forge only this time pulling a pallet of materials. All of it iron, and all of it stacked neatly upon the pallet that was being pulled by the diminutive Valen with little effort given his effective strength. Upon reaching the forge he would begin to get out the equipment, hammer, tongs, ensure the treating oil was ready and that the water bucket had water in it before kicking the forge temperature up and getting started. This time he was going to be at it for a while.

As he worked on the forge, crafting each weapon by hand amidst the sweltering heat of the forge and the metal clamor of the hammer hitting the weapons upon the anvil. As well as the hiss of steam and water and oil as the weapons were dropped in each. The swordsman would stop when he was twenty blades in and peruse his work. Did he want to continue doing this? All of the time? Did he not want for more? To utilize these weapons? To utilize stronger, more potent ones? Yes, yes he did. So why then was he feeling like this was not his real calling? Setting the weapons aside, he would consider them. He would set the hammer down and smiths also working in the large forge would take note of him as he looked. One of them would call out to him. "It isn't for everyone lad. No shame in only figuring that out now." He would say, drawing Valen's red eyed gaze to him.

The diminutive genin would study the man for a time before nodding and shutting down the forge he had been working with. He would donate everything he had made to the marketplace store. They would see them used eventually. He however was going to work on his personal training.

Ending my crafting of 25 C rank katana early. At this point 20 of them would have been crafted. At 20 exp a post this more than caps the possible 150 exp after the crafting rule change, and I intend to use the free reset to remove the crafting.
