A Family of Ghosts

Azrael slowly walked through the Kaguya clan district to the living quarters that he was granted by his master, there had been so much that had happened in the past few weeks that needed to be addressed. He still lacked the power he needed in order to serve Sero in the task that his master required of him, but he had been working on ways to improve that. He had developed several different techniques that he believed would help him in his quest for growing strong enough to help his master, then there was the matter of his half sister. Azrael was new to the whole family thing and with the exception of doing missions with her and Raika and Sero of the past weeks, he had not really spent anytime with her nor had he attempted to get to know her beyond what he learned from her memories. That would all change today, Azrael had sent his dear sister a letter requesting that she joined him here in the district so that they could attempt to get to know each other better. Despite only needing one bird to deliver the message, when Azrael had sent Never to deliver the message, More followed after her. So Azrael would sit alone in his dark and dreary room as he waited for his pets to return and the arrival of his sister. The room empty save for two chairs and a small table that sat in the center of the room on top of a rug, the chairs facing each other with the table between them. The fireplace empty leaving a small chill in the room, however Azrael would not notice this chill considering how he was. There would not even be a bed within the room, that might leave the question of where he slept, but if not asked he would not tell. Azrael would sit in the chair that was facing the door to the room, his mask hiding most of his face as he waited for his guest to arrive.

With Kami home and relaxing, she left her window open just enough for any mission birds to come in. “I should probably take a bath…” She lifted her arm and sniffed, her head recoiling a bit back. “Maybe something… more intense…” Kami scoffed, smelling the residue of the wolves she had slept in. The stench hadn’t gone away and so maybe she needed to scrub more. Putting her hair up into a bun, she went to her bathroom to start her bath water, eventually getting in and relaxing. ‘Aaah…’ She exhaled, smiling softly from the warm water. Her eyes closed, arm laying on the edge of the bathtub. Her eyes closed for a moment, inhaling and exhaling deeply until her right eye popped open as Never and More showed up on the edge. “What’s this?” Kami grabbed the letter and read it quickly before her eyebrow began twitching from annoyance. ‘I can never catch a break can I?’



After Kami got dressed and washed her body quickly, she performed a handsign and transformed into her flat self and began to head out to the destination Azrael wanted to meet at. It was within a compound which was weird for him to even suggest. Her hair remained in a bun, her white eyelashes softly glowing from how bright they were. Though it would be nice to get to know her only family better. She looked at her chains on her arm, clenching her hand into a fist and looking straight ahead as she arrived shortly after. Kami stood in front of his door, knocking softly with the back of her hand before entering. “Azrael..?” She peered in, her eyes softly glowing within the dark. Seeing him sit in the chair with a table and another chair beside him with nothing more and nothing less in the room. ‘Quite minimalistic…’ She thought to herself before walking in. “You wanted to talk?” She asked with a very mellow voice.

Alter Ego:

Never and More would return to Azrael's window shortly before the knock on the door would come, he had been able to sense her since she had entered the clan district so he knew it was her. As she opened the door a smile would form beneath his mask, "This One is Pleased that you have accepted our invitation, Kami Yurei." Azrael would reply without rising from his seat and with no enthusiasm or happiness evident in his whispered tone, but those that knew him knew that he did not really show emotion. "Please sit sister, We would like to talk with you about some things." Azrael would motion to the chair across from him for her to sit and would quietly wait for her to do so. Once Kami was seated, Azrael would look into her eyes as if searching for something. His Akayurei was not active and he wasn't using any genjutsu, he was simply staring at her. After several moments of this he would finally speak. "We see that you have improved your Akayurei since last we spoke, even when it is not active We can feel the power of the clan in you, dear sister. It is also one of the reasons We summoned you here, for like you we too have grown in power. We have learned the sealing Arts of Fuuinjutsu and with it, We have created several seals that utilize our various skills. This One desires your permission to place some of these seals upon you, they will not harm you though the application will likely cause some minor discomfort. These seals are meant to help you, We have one that will heal you if you are injured or alert you when a genjutsu is placed upon you. We have one that will allow us to find you no matter where you are in the world and we will always be able to communicate with you. We also have one that can help you with analyzing targets in battle, but the most powerful of all of these is the one that will use our familial bond. We can place a seal so that we can see through your eyes as if they were our own, communicate with you in our minds, and even cast our Genjutsu through your eyes." Azrael's whisper seemed to speak as if this type of thing was a natural occurrence and happened all the time, straight to the business of why he had called her to meet with him, rather than starting with getting to know his sister like he probably should have.

Kami’s eyebrow raised when Azrael suggested that he needed to talk to her. Her shoulders relaxed a bit, feeling obliged to hear him out over whatever he wanted to say. She walked to the chair that was placed in front of Azrael himself and sat down, her legs closed and leaning to one of side, laying comfortably at and angle. Kami’s attire was her basic half suit look, white button up long sleeved shirt with black dress pants. To others, she would be deemed more masculine while wearing this. “Go on.” She stated, rotating her hand to try and hurry him up. As Azrael began to speak, he acknowledged her eyes becoming better, more profound that is. Then her interest peaked when he said he had seals to place on Kami. Some to heal, some to alert her and others to use for Azrael’s own bidding. Listening to Azrael’s idea, Kami nodded a little, showing interest and to let him know that she was indeed listening.


Once Azrael was done explaining, her ruby eyes looked to her brother and she tapped her fingers on the arm rest of the chair. “You’ve been through my mind. Seen my memories, memories of which I would not tell anyone, not even to you.” She started off. “Yet the person who’s face I haven’t seen yet… Wants to place seals on me.” Her head slowly rose as she spoke, her eyes remaining on Azrael. “I have no issues with seals.. However I want a stipulation with this.” Her eyes somewhat looked sharp, then lowered to look at her chains. “You’re not the only one that knows Fuuin, dear brother. It seems we are very much alike.” She raised her right arm, a kunai dropping from her hand, swaying from the initial drop. “If you agree to my stipulations, you must be honest. Do you understand?” Before Azrael could really think on it, the Kunai quickly switched to a weighted ball that remained still upon the drop unlike the kunai. The ball would move one of two directions. Forward is for a truth, backwards for a lie. “This is only a extra security precaution. My stipulations are… You show me your face. And you agree to signing a pact with me. This ball will determine if you tell the truth or not. Going forward means a truth, going backwards means a lie.” She glanced down to the still placed ball and spoke aloud. “For example…” Kami inhaled in and exhaled. “I hate Azrael Yurei.” Kami said with full confidence. The ball would remain still before moving backwards and holding its position until falling back into its original place.

CHANCE ACTION:


Azrael has been prompted to lie to Kami. Kami’s truth seeker allows her to see if someone is lying based off of sensory. Azrael has an intelligence of A and can choose to trick her, making a deception based answer. If Azrael chooses to lie and deceive the ball, the ball will instead for forward, signifying a truth.

Videre Omnia:

Azrael would watch his sister with a mild curiosity, a small smile crossing his face beneath his mask at her words of him showing her his face. He would not interrupt her yet, letting her finish showing him that her chain would let her know if her were to try to lie to her about something. Azrael would look Kami directly in the eyes, "We do not lie, Kami Yurei." He would let his words linger in the air a moment watching as the ball would move forward indicating that he was tell the truth, a smile remaining on his face beneath his mask. "Beneath this mask, holds this one's face, but we have many faces. We have that in common do we not, dear sister. You are correct, we have seen into your mind. We know you, all of you." Azrael would give Kami a pointed stare as he spoke, his whisper soft yet authoritative as it always seemed to be. "You speak of us showing you, our face yet you still hide behind a mask of your own creation. An Illusion to hide your true self, but we see you there is no need to hide from us. We can see through the illusions others try to hide behind, it is the gift of our shared doujutsu. The Akayurei is a powerful tool, it allows this one to see the truth that people try to hide even from themselves." Azrael stopped and took a breath, allowing Kami's little trinket to show that he was not lying to her. "This One will show you, but This one wants truth from you as well, Kami Yurei. Stop trying to hide behind your illusion, and we will show you our face." He would look at his sister intently, not aggressive but with a seriousness in his eyes. Watching her to see how she would react to this little revelation of his.

Analyzing Kami (1/2)

OoC: Azrael is telling the truth?

Kami would listen to Azrael and what he said was true. Kami was hiding behind a mask and she didn’t want anyone to see. Only two people have seen her true self and that was Raika and Michelangelo. Kami’s eyes lowered then quickly looked up to Azrael’s only eye shown. Before Azrael could react, Kami’s eyes began to glow a bright red, and with B+ coord, her hand dropped a kunai, immediately shooting it in Azrael, a slight pinch being felt within Azrael. This chain had wrapped around his heart and embedded itself in.


“On the conditions of Me showing you my true self, you will show me your face. If you show me your face, I will let you put your seals on me. Even if it means to reside in my mind.” Her eyes showed intent and with this agreement, the chain would glow, awaiting Azrael’s agreement. Her chakra would be felt along the chains, even into his heart, sealing this agreement in place. Once Azrael would agree, the chains would disperse into light fragments. Her body would slowly waver and warp, her eyes closing and her hair floating a bit off of her, her body changing significantly to a bustier version of herself. She looked more mature and more of an adult than a 15 year old who didn’t know what to identify with. “Your turn.” This completion of Kami’s part of the agreement would keep Kami safe. However, Azrael would be left to go about. If he refused, he would be dealt with immense pain of true damage, let alone on his heart.

Synergy:

Azrael waited for Kami to finish, it was a strange little ritual she wanted to preform however he was not one to stifle others and their desires. He actually preferred when people gave into their desires, sometimes he would even stoke the flames of the desire, whispering thoughts into the other person's head. He had no reason not to allow Kami to do this contract as she called it, though given their intellectual difference, he could likely undo the technique without breaking a sweat and be able to break her so called contract. It was only out of his desire to know more of his sister that he allowed her to do it, and it was only out of that desire that he did not disrupt it. Once Kami finished speaking her terms of this contract Azrael's reply would be a short and simple, "Agreed," at which point the chains would vanish from sight though he could still feel them. After Kami dropped the illusion Azrael's hand would reach towards his mask, his mind rushing with thoughts as he undid the clasp. There were rare times he would remove his mask, though it was something he never did in the company of others, save for one. Doing this would mean that he would be accepting Kami as his family, and there was no going back. Azrael would place his mask on the table in front of him and lean back in his chair looking at his sister with his own red eyes, "There is only one other being that still walks the mortal plane that has seen This One's face, we trust you not to share this memory with others."


Azrael had never seen his father's face before until he had seen him within Kami's mind, and though he could see the resemblance what he did not know was that he looked identical to what his father did at his age. This fact would be obvious to Kami if her family had any pictures of him when he was younger, or one of his wanted posters. It was the reason his own mother hated him and treated him the way she did, why she couldn't stand to look at him or even give him a decent room like he had now, always forced to live within the basement but that was behind him now. After a few moments Azrael would stand and walk over to Kami, "we trust that you are now satisfied, Kami Yurei. We will now begin the placement of our seals, this may hurt slightly." With those words Azrael would grab the sides of Kami's head, placing both thumbs on a side of her temple near her eyes. Allowing his chakra to flow from his finger tips into Kami directing it to her eyes as fuuinjutsu seals are placed upon her eyeballs. These seals would allow them to always be connected through their Akayurei's and if they were to go into combat together, he could use her eyes as his own if needed. Once that was done Azrael would remove his hands from her temples and place one over the back of her neck beneath hair as chakra flowed from his hand once more to burn a seal into her, it would only sting as it formed but would go away nearly instantly after it was done. This one required more of a conscious effort on her part, and so Azrael would step back. Using the ability of the first seal he placed on her Akayurei to speak now rather than speaking out loud, "the seal we have placed upon your neck is known as the Seal of Insight, and it is meant to help you. You can flow chakra through the seal and in return it will help grant you insight into your opponent, assisting you in search for weaknesses or exploits to use in your favor for battle." Azrael would then give Kami a chance to talk or ask questions if she had them, before he would attempt to place more seals upon her.

Kami would watch Azrael’s hands go to the sides of his mask and take it off, revealing a rather young looking boy. Just.. a boy.. Kami’s heart would skip a beat before her face grew a little red and she would look to the side, hearing him speak about not wanting to share this memory. She gave a nod and glanced back to him, watching him go behind her, her eyes closing with satisfaction. She had seen her brothers face but it oddly reminded her of their father.. She had only seen a few pictures but just enough to see the resemblance. Her eyes would attempt to look towards the edge of her peripheral vision, gritting her teeth and wincing a bit with one eye, feeling a twinge from her brothers finger tips from applying the seals. ‘Ouch..’ she would think to herself but still keep quiet. Next would be on her neck, making her grip her wrist, this one slightly more painful but tolerable. Kami would rub the nape of her neck and turn to Azrael, giving him a quick nod as a thanks. As Azrael was done, his heart would feel lighter, the chains releasing and the seal breaking. Kami would feel this as well, giving her a deep inhale and quick exhale. It didn’t feel nice to have weight on her heart but it would be necessary.


Hearing Azrael in her head, she would nod again, actually happy to have a seal like this. It would be quite useful for helping with seeing into an opponents moves. Her red eyes would glance to her maskless brother, getting a bit closer and placing her hands on his cheeks, softly pinching them. “Huh…” Her eyes would sparkles a bit, fascinated by his looks. He didn’t look much different than her but the resemblance was uncanny to her father. Whether or not Azrael would push her away, she would take a step back before he had a chance to do anything. “Have you ever met dad..?” She would ask after a moment of silence. Kami would sit back in the chair, placing a leg over her knee and staring at Azrael still. “The dad I knew was… well… he wasn’t nice, that’s for sure..” Her eyes would drift off into a random area of the room, slowly blinking. “My mom wasn’t great either.. I guess if I had to choose, I’d choose dad..” Her eyes looked sullen but she still kept her gaze, looking into the distance.

Azrael would stare at his sister blankly as she pinched his cheeks before asking her question about their father, before talking about her own relationship with him and her mother. Azrael would tilt his head to the side as he listened to her, considering her words before he would speak. "This one only ever knew the woman upstairs," his whisper within her mind would be even softer than normal as he spoke as if it was a matter that he did not care to discuss. "We only learned of the man you call dad after we freed ourselves and came to Kirigakure, it was then that we learned of his death and given our pendant, and that is all we know." Azrael would then reach out and grasp Kami's arm with one hand, placing the index finger of the other hand upon her forearm as he began transferring the chakra to place another seal. "This seal will protect you, alerting you to changes within your chakra that would signify that someone has placed you within a Genjutsu." Azrael would mentally explain to Kami as he placed the seal, the burning of his chakra as it marked her skin would only be a mild discomfort that would end the moment the seal was finished being placed, leaving only a slight irritation for a few minutes after that. "It will also protect you should you find yourself injured and no one else around that would be able to help you, though this will require conscious effort on your part. The sealing formula we have made here, by channeling chakra into the seal it will release and heal you. However, we must warn you that it is limited and will only be useful once, after which you must return to this one so that we may refresh the seal." Azrael would finish placing the seal taking a step back before placing a hand on the back of his neck and placing a seal on his neck similar to the one that he had placed on the back of Kami's neck as he allowed Kami to adjust to the seal that he had placed upon her forearm.

Kami would glance at her hand and close it briefly before looking to her own brother. The two looked identical if Kami didn’t hide her true self. Though it was something she decided to do for a long time, it had its perks. Not a lot of people saw the difference in her two forms yet they looked quite different in themselves. She would then blink a few times as Azrael grabbed her arm and gave her a slight burn with his chakra, her eye squinting as she winced from the discomfort of this seal. “Ow! Hey a warning would’ve been nice!” She scowled to the boy. Kami would then stop and listen to Azrael as he explained this particular seal to her, her eyes looking down at this newly formed seal. ‘He thought of all of this?’ She would think for a moment, completely forgetting Azrael was still within her mind. “Th-..Thanks I guess..” Her eyes would move away, her index and middle finger from her other hand gliding over the seal, making sure no pain was present. “I think I’m ready for the remaining ones.” She would say, implying to just get them done and over with. The time between the seals made her a bit agitated but she was also here to learn more about Azrael. They hadn’t done any sibling bonding time and so Kami was eager to learn a bit about him. “What was your childhood like?” Kami would ask with a dry tone. Awaiting his response, she would prepare herself for the next seals if there were any more.

Azrael would nod as Kami indicated that she was ready for the remainder, and he would move to her other arm. There was no real place that this one had to be placed, in fact he could just place it upon a slip of paper as he had done for Valen. However, giving it to her as a chakra tattoo made it more personal. There was a couple of reasons for this, first and foremost it meant that the seal couldn't be stolen and used by someone else like it could be done with the paper, second it allowed him to place it in a location that others are less likely to see and therefore go unnoticed. Still speaking within her mind thanks to the seal he had placed upon her eye his lips unmoving, Azrael would explain the seal as he lifted her sleeve and began placing it on her upper arm near the shoulder. "This seal will allow you to call upon us no matter where you are in the world. We will be able to project one of our ghosts to you, while we will not be able to help you physically, we will be able to offer you counsel if you need it. The seal will also allow This One to find you, you must never allow anyone to see this seal. If it is removed, we will not be able to find you." Once he was done with that one, he would stand back in front of Kami face to face looking into her eyes as he considered her question. "This one's childhood made us what we are today." Azrael would finally answer within her mind before placing both hands on the side of her head, "it will be easier for us to show you." Azrael would continue as he began placing the final seal upon his sister. This seal would go past the skin and bone to her brain, sealing away a piece of himself within her mind. This piece held his memories and would allow her to talk to it as if it were him in relation to his past and allow her to know about him nearly as much as he knew about her. As he was placing the seal his memories would flood her mind like a wave, his childhood memories and everything else would be an open book to her, save for certain memories that he withheld from the Imprint. His time with his Daeva was not something his sister needed to know about, there were somethings siblings should not see after all.

Seals:

Kami would listen to her brother about the seals and how they work, especially with not letting anyone see them. The same thing over and over, the repetition started to get on her nerves but she knew Azrael was only trying to do his thing so she remained calm. She winced from the pain with the last one, being imprinted on her mind, causing her to hold her head for a moment. “Damn dude! What the hell!” She rubbed the spot where it hurt from the placement, looking to Azrael with teary eyes. “Give me a warning on that one next time..” The next thing that would happen would shock Kami but more or less really catch her off guard. Azrael’s memories began flooding through her mind, important events staying in her mind for a brief second and dissipating to flood with other memories. Azrael’s childhood, how he was treated and such, the minuscule yet important factors of his life. How he became him. Kami’s head would end up getting closer to Azrael’s head sub consciously before pushing herself back once coming to her own senses. She’d hold her head for a moment and wince with now a headache coming into her mind. “Great…” Kami would look to Azrael and with a simple flick of her wrist, moving from her waist and up, her image would change to the more gender neutral version of herself. The time was up for anything else, however, she would remain in the chair, waiting for any questions from Azrael. “Any questions for me or is that it..”

A small smirk would form on Azrael's face as Kami said next time, within her mind she would here his whisper. "Well, dear sister. The next time it happens it will be at your command, the seal is now yours to control. Our consciousness will always be with you, to call upon when you wish." Azrael would then return to his chair, grabbing his mask and returning it to his face as his sister transformed her appearance again. When Kami asked if there was any questions that he had for her he would shake his head, "No, Kami Yurei that is all we needed. This one thanks you for allowing us to place the seals, we feel better knowing that we can keep an eye on you." Azrael would whisper in Kami's mind, before turning to look to the window where Never and More now perched and let out a caw. Standing and walking to the window, Azrael would briefly look back to his sister. "We must go now, but we will always be near when you need us." He would whisper in her mind once more before exiting the room through the window.

Kami looked to Azrael with a bit more concern as he told her the seal would be activated upon her request. She would raise an eyebrow as to what he meant by that but she would think in a times need, she would find out what he meant. As Azrael grabbed his mask and placed it back on his face, Kami stood up and dusted herself off before watching him leave through the window while saying his farewell. She would stand there kinda dumbfounded before saying aloud, “you have a door…” Kami would shrug and make a loud exhale, grabbing whatever she brought with her, if she did at that and made her way out the door. He wasn’t as bad as she thought which made her smile a tad bit. Maybe they’ll be a good sibling duo. Inhale and exhaling, she stepped forward, on to going home to finish her original cleaning procedure of getting all the wolf smell off of her.
