Even Pacifists can Practice [Simon/Iro)

Iro spent a fair portion of her time after arriving to Kumogakure on bed rest. The general stress of moving and dealing with an entirely different culture combined with the drastic cooler climate put Iro under a long lasting cold. She felt a bit guilty after being administered into the village to take such a long bed rest. They were already generous enough to accept a refugee. Fortunately for her superiors they were rather tolerant to grant the extended leave. Like many Shinobi she wears the common black sandals which secure her feet and ankles. Iro wears a pair of loose fitting black pants which extend shortly above her ankles, which she has wrapped in a set of white bandage wrap. Her pants are paired with a black sleeveless, backless top with a white undershirt in the same design. Her utility belt was worn around her waist which held a first aid on the back side next to her hip pouch and a single holster on her right. A single, tan obi is worn around her waist. Black leather arm guards covered both arms from the back of the hand up to the elbows. Slapped over her body was a dark gray flak jacket with three scroll holsters, the basic secondary flak jacket provided by Kumogakure. A leather baldric is worn across her body where she carries a quarter staff made entirely of oak.

Around her forehead Iro sports her forehead protector. In a black cloth she has the forehead protector's steel plate facing the front with Sunagakure's emblem engraved on the plate. Iro has long, plum hair which is fastened in a long ponytail using a tan hair tie. She keeps the rest of her hair parted in the front with two long bangs reaching down to her chin. Iro herself stands 5'8 and weighs approximately 140 lbs. With deep tan skin she bares golden amber eyes. Iro has an impressive athletic figure including a toned abdomen with muscle work shown around her body.

Iro traveled along the dirt road leading her to the young man who not only invited her in the gates, but planned to further their training together. Iro had not actually trained seriously in a while. She thought it would be an excellent opportunity to break her in after a month of doing close to nothing. She would stand several feet before Simon, bending forward in a deep bow as she grinned brightly. "Namaste, Simon." She would straighten her posture, her body language perky and full of energy. "What did you have planned for us today?"

After greeting Simon detailed her on the training session. It was a simple spar. The two were fairly weak, at least weak in terms in being fragile. Simon asked to handicap Ninjutsu and weapons for later leaving them to fight hand-to-hand for the beginning portion of the fight. Iro was in favor of scrapping Ninjutsu entirely. She was not confident in her ability after a her month break. The last thing she wanted to do is evade lightning bolts or water cannons in attempts to preserve her life. Although it was important to put your body to its limits during training she was not willing to kill herself or Simon in the process. "That sounds perfectly fine to me." She added as he addressed the terms. Iro was subpar in Taijutsu. She did not have extensive training in Taijutsu, and her physical capabilities were passable for a Chuunin. In fact Iro seemed to only shine when it came down to Ninjutsu. Lethal Ninjutsu, nonetheless. However, this could play out in her favor. She may take a beating, but these terms would help improve her in the areas she lacked.

"Hand-to-hand...let's go!" She said prepping herself for the task. Iro would stance herself briefly before starting her first attack. Trotting forwards a couple steps she put herself in range for a strike. Sending her right arm out Iro armed her knuckles to strike against Simon's jaw executing a basic cross. She expected the boy to evade such a simple strike and kept her guard up expecting a follow-up or counter attack. Remaining adaptive was key to surviving a close quarters conflict.

Simon reacted to the strike, moving his body just out of range as the attack followed through. The blonde haired boy was more experienced than he looked, as Iro initially doubted his status as a Chuunin at first glance. He was sure young, but his actions backed up his title. The boy maneuvered into a low strike attempting to sweep his leg into that of Iro's. Although she was soft when it came to close quarters she was somewhat competent of a fighter. She would hop over the boy's leg using precise timing to avoid his strike. As his leg would pass through she would ground again on both feet, accelerating and lowering herself just slightly to level herself in a more comfortable striking range with Simon.

Her dash would be followed with two strike, both with her fists as she alternated arms with each swing. She aimed her leading right to impact the boy's side aiming to cause pain to his rib cage. The second would follow regardless if the first was a miss or success, towards his jaw. The impact would have enough force to reasonably cause damage, whether that was minor or staggering would be entirely as a case-by-case basis with how durable the boy was and how well he dealt with the initial attacks. Regardless, Iro stayed flexible and open-minded to whatever Simon had to throw her way. She had a feeling the boy was certainly skilled enough to remedy her basic attack pattern.

Following the landed strike Iro was rather confident the boy was sturdier than he looked. She was no Taijutsu master and lacked the physical strength to deliver "money shots" or fight ending strikes. This made Taijutsu fights almost eternal when fighting Shinobi who were more or less conditioned to accept extensive punishment. She would have no chance versus Jounin for that matter. Simon's reaction proved her point as he metaphorically shrugged off the impact showing minor discomfort but following through with his actions. He would display a rather unorthodox fighting style, something Iro was not trained to remedy. She would move as he did, keeping a guard up as he rotated sending his legs out to deliver a few timed kicks. He was faster, and his attacks followed through with a lot more strength than he looked what he was capable of. An audible grunt would follow the first kick as his shin whipped against her ribcage, the flak jacket providing minimal protection against the speed and wrecking power. Iro would stumble back just out of range following the second strike and made quick for her staff.

Reaching back she would draw her bo staff from her baldric. It was a basic staff with no notable features. It was a solid piece of shaped wood. Although cheap it proved to be a highly valuable weapon for even the unskilled and that was chiefly due to the length, much like a spear which served as the king of the battlefield. Drawing her bo staff she opted for a straight thrust from her distance, a mere two meters which was long enough to outmatch Simon's base striking distance and give her the reach advantage. She would aim her thrust towards his side to strike his ribs forcing the narrow blunt end to deliver a debilitating blow. Although she was not an expert, with enough common sense it was know spots where the skin meets the bone was especially painful. Certainly bones as fragile as the ribs were.

Simon briefly contorts his frame once he's connected both of the attacks, landing back on the ground with both feet to face her. It's by that time that she's already retrieved her staff, and thrusted it forward to his surprise. He clearly registers the reach differences between them at this point, opting to interject with the weapon's trajectory by taking the hit to his forearm, rather than his ribs. While it was a less wise decision than trying to dodge, it was better than letting it connect with where it was aimed.

The Kageyama promptly kicks back, intent on making distance and trying to force her to advance upon him. His own hand elevates itself, coming to the Supervibrato Sword secured by the baldric upon his torso. It's a double-edged weapon by nature, so trying to swing at her wouldn't work whatsoever, but it would at least be good for parrying that staff of hers. Following that mindset, he removes it from its positioning and swings it out to his side, ready to be on the defensive since she still had more range than he did.
