    • Coordination: B (950)
    • Intelligence: C (450)
    • Perception: C (450)

    Unique Abilities:
Second Wind (Clanless No Drawback UA): The avatar of resilience, Niko has a habit of giving it everything she has and more, proving that giving more than maximum effort is possible if you hit every task, every day like there wouldn’t be a tomorrow.  Upon hitting 30 chakra remaining in her pool, Niko regains 50% of her total capacity, enabling her to work harder, fight better, and live longer.

Rush Order: Sometimes, mass production can trump quality when it’s time to pay the bills.  Niko may decrease the time required to craft an item by one rank, however as a result reduce their Coordination by one tier limiting what they can craft by one rank.

    Appearance:
In a word; breathtaking.  Standing at 6’ tall she is slightly above average for a woman her age, but that is where average comes to a screeching halt in her description.  The first thing people notice, even from extremely far away, is her bright red nearly knee-length hair that seems to curl randomly like it has a mind of its own in waves.  It is usually kept up in a high ponytail behind her, but it is obvious to anyone upon close inspection that she takes good care of it, ensuring it is protected from the heat of her forge.  Her hair is also usually decorated with a sort of tiara or crown, but this is functional more than just pretty; protecting the vital temple area on her skull from surprise blunt force attacks, and has the Kumogakure symbol engraved into the front.

When she faces you, the next thing that stands out especially in contrast to her hair is her bright emerald green eyes.  While young in age, her eyes betray the maturity she has been forced to gain rapidly in life, but still haven’t lost that optimistic spark that lies within regardless of her pain.  A beautiful enough face, as you continue to take in her appearance, it is obvious she was the lottery winner of the genetic gene pool.  She is covered in toned muscle and has a gentle tan to her skin, evidence of her many hours slaving away at the forge, but what is truly remarkable is the way she has more curves than a mountain trail.  Sitting at a generous DD-sized chest, her armor and clothes she usually makes herself to compensate, but it doesn’t end there; her hips have enough mass, mostly muscle, to make most people stop and stare on a dime.

Aside her ridiculous curves, her choice of clothing strikes a balance between sensible and functional while still showing off, if only a bit.  A blacksmith, she normally has on assorted pieces of weapons and armor at almost all times, hoping to attract new customers with her wares.  This means that her equipment almost always pops and stands out, and as a means of advertisement, Niko is not beneath showing off her natural assets to try to drum up more business.  Try to approach her the wrong way though, and you will quickly find out that her pleasant appearance and demeanor is something that can be turned to cold and deadly like a flip of a switch.

    History:
It wasn’t all that uncommon to be a war orphan.  Still just a baby, her parents were ninja, and taken from her life while on a mission.  Her uncle Kagroth, a craftsman, took her in and raised her as best he could, but he wasn’t exactly young himself, the eldest brother of her mother by many years, and the work of a blacksmith had taken a toll on his body.  Still, he was extremely knowledgeable, and trained Niko how to create weapons and fend for herself.  When she was six, his health began to rapidly decline, and she did everything in her power to keep him healthy, quickly learning how to cook, clean, and maintain the house.  Her inheritance kept them afloat for a couple more years and she began making crude weapons, learning what she had been taught in practical application and making rudimentary repairs, using her uncle’s name and claiming to be an apprentice.  Between working, studying from home the basic life skills and things she should have been learning in school and taking care of her uncle, Niko was kept busy from the moment she woke up to the moment she passed out every day.

Her uncle never asked for anything, and the doctors kind enough to take a look at him basically said there wasn’t much to be done.  The wear and tear on his body combined with his old age was something that couldn’t be healed, and treatments to simply prolong his life were costly.  The man who had ensured that she would survive died on her eighth birthday evening, the night after they celebrated it, and she subsequently cremated him the next day, gathering his ashes and placing them in a steel urn that to this day sits in her forge.  As a parting gift, he left behind schematics for a couple of pieces of equipment for her, wrapped and planned for her tenth birthday, something she found along with a note from her uncle explaining the equipment and how to use it.

Inheriting the home and the family business, she continued to work relentlessly while studying, knowing she would need more than basic skills in order to survive.  That was when she met a young man named Mako and felt an odd sense of kinship with him.  His own situation with his family was far more traumatic than her own, and her maternal instincts were to protect him and keep him on the straight and narrow, and it wasn’t long after they met that she managed to keep him from taking his own life.  They were more than family than anything either of them had left, and it wasn’t long before Mako began to spend ample time in her home, a safe haven away from the troubles of his own.  Yuuta, another optimistic boy, came along with it, and she was happy being able to pass on the generosity of her uncle, helping others when they needed it most.  Fiercely protective of them, and acting as more of a parent than the boys had experienced before, it wasn’t long before they were seen as a family.

    But Niko was not Kagroth.

Lacking the proper skill he had, debt began to collect, regardless of how hard she worked and slaved away at the forge day in and day out.  She began extremely frugal, making due with what she had and cutting out unnecessary expenses at every corner, but it was quickly becoming apparent that she was going to lose her forge… her way of life… everything.  Refusing to give in, she talked with some people she knew, nobles for lack of better expression, who had been friends of the family.  They agreed to give her a large loan, but expected every penny back within ten years, and she agreed.  It would keep her forge, hers, and that was when she started to look into becoming a ninja.  They were sent on missions that gained good rewards, and had access to information, markets and materials that she herself never could get ahold of in the real world.

Coincidentally, Mako too had interest in becoming a Shinobi in his search for power to escape the fear that had been beaten into him by his father.  Besides, she had to go with him or she risked him not achieving his goal, and she could look out for him during class, and it made her extra motivated because she knew she could count on one person to be the person she could look towards.  Not gifted in any way when it came to techniques and the like, Niko showed off her abilities to work herself to the brink of death, flying through the Academy at breakneck speeds.  She felt a bit bad leaving Mako and her other charges drifting behind in the dust, but the truth of the matter was she was doing this for them.  The faster she excelled, the better she could make their lives, and the faster she could earn back her forge.  Focusing solely on her career as a NInja, and with an extremely sharp attitude towards leading teams into combat.  Combined with her natural ability to improvise on the fly and her ability to protect her team, it wasn’t a far cry to see her enter the Chuunin Exams only a couple of months out of the academy.  She passed, but didn’t win, as her combat skill outside of being in her team was a bit lacking, but having all the proper credentials, she was made a Chuunin.

She led a team for a few years, a success rate that was staggering for a Chuunin as she would not only lead successful missions without pause, but also would outright deny missions that were obviously outside her team’s capabilities.  Recently promoted to Jounin after faithful service, she prepares the next chapter of her journey, finally able to step back a moment and focus on what she wanted in life… like getting her forge back.

Personality:  Niko is a young woman who was forced to mature mentally at a very young age.  On her own since she was eight years old, she had to learn to cook, clean, work and sort herself out with priorities that people three times her age were still struggling with, and it shows because she acts extremely mature around other people.  An extremely upbeat and optimistic person by default, it is extremely difficult to get her to drag her down emotionally, especially on the outside, as she feels responsible to stay strong for others around her.

Extremely hard working, it is not an overstatement to say that she is someone who can’t seem to relax easily.  From the time she wakes up in the morning before the sun rises to the moment she collapses long past the sun falling again, she is on the go, doing something, and that leads to one of the things that bothers her; wasted time.  Efficiency is the name of the game, and to Niko, there is no such thing as ‘idle time’, as there is always something to get done and be productive.  She is not really prideful, coming from humble beginnings, and more than willing to accept help where she can find reliable sources.

Niko is also very intelligent, knowing when to look for opportunities and how to best use her time, she can often be found during time not actively doing something reading a book on blacksmithing, investments or weapons.  She has a borderline unhealthy interest in weapons and armor, a passion that drives her to almost fan-girl over new weapons and designs that she sees in shops or even on another person.  That being said, she is about more than just the design of weapons, but their use; she tests anything she makes before she sells it in real combat to ensure it’s usefulness.

There are only a few sure-fire ways to truly anger Niko, and they go in precedent.  If you want to get her mad, but not over the top?  Call her lazy or disrespect her work.  A pretty certain way to get a punch to the face if you aren’t careful.  Really want to piss her off?  Waste her time or steal from her, she’ll hold a grudge for quite a while.  But the ultimate way to get her to go from zero to impaled with a spear is to hurt her family or friends, physically, emotionally or mentally.  If this happens, it’ll take killing her before she stops hurting you.

Very protective of those she gathers in her circle of trust, Niko doesn’t just let anyone and everyone walk into her life and gain a seat.  Associates are people that she likes, but it’s mostly just business or a passing individual of interest.  A friend is someone she will look out for, but not really bend over backwards.  Close friend or family, blood or not, she will cross the gates of hell for you without so much as a second thought, and gladly give her life in your protection.  This handful of people is also where she usually draws her emotional strength, even small acts of affection or love almost like a fuel that keeps her internal furnace burning hot and bright.  Working in a forge since a young age, Niko has become very acclimated with high temperatures and grown resistant to its effects as a result.  Inversely, she absolute hates the cold.  Also results in hilarious situations in any cold environment and during winter.

She had just been promoted, but due to taking care of things like ensuring they still had a roof over their head, Niko had been busy for a few days and hadn’t been able to participate in some of the other things that needed to be done.  So, today, she steeled herself as she walked into the market looking for some equipment and maybe some ore to buy, knowing full well that she was going to need to get to work earning some serious cash if she was going to buy her uncle’s forge back.  She had even taken some time to gawk at some equipment she wanted to buy, jotting down notes of prices and locations as she did.  But then it was time for the equipment.

Mako had said something about wanting them going on a mission today, and while he hadn’t exactly been specific on the details, this would be her first one with him since he graduated.  She had worked herself almost to death, and while she did feel more groggy and weak than normal, this wasn’t all that out of the ordinary for her, and she still was extremely confident in her throwing weapon accuracy.  Some Senbon and Kunai would need to be purchased… and she might as well get some raw materials while she was at it.  She didn’t own her own forge, but she had ensured she had an agreement to where she could use the damn thing.  It only made sense after all, considering she planned to purchase it, and if they wanted their Ryo, they would need to make sure she had a way to make the money.  After looking at a few shops, she found some that looked decent on quality and price, and made her purchases quickly and effectively, as well as a pouch to hold them all in.  She had decided to get some steel wire as well, as it was an extremely effective tool if used right in almost any mid to close combat scenario.

She wasn’t exactly dressed for work at the moment, a flowery shirt and a pair of jean shorts, but she hardly expected the ever-paranoid Mako to come up and tell her it was time at the last possible second.  The red haired woman had always been quick to get ready for whatever tasks might come her way, and she wanted to be comfortable while she was out with other people.  Besides, this clothing would be fine when she was in the forge, so no big deal.  Meeting up to the mining part of the market, she couldn’t help herself; she quickly found the Ebony metal; the highest grade metal she could buy outright, and bought 10 pounds of it.

A very content smile on her face, she marched back to their home and unloaded.  She would use the bought weapons as a blueprint for making her own, and considering things, she thought she would start with Senbon.  Looking at the sunbeam coming in through the window for a moment, she nodded, knowing she should have enough time.  Mako should be back soon and then they could talk about the mission while she worked on making the weapons.

Grabbing the ebony carefully, she hummed a happy tune as she twirled a single senbon between her fingers rapidly, walking into the forge and kicking on the furnace, getting the fires burning.  Putting a large pot onto the heat that she had cleaned the night prior to a pristine shine, Niko placed the ebony into it carefully.  She could always pour it back into an ingot cast once she had what she needed, but it would take time to melt into its liquid form.  She took advantage of that time and grabbed a casting block; a super soft piece of wood that she smashed the senbon inbetween, creating a mold of the one she had purchased.  She had no thoughts in her mind that she would be able to replicate this quality… yet.  This was going to help her shake off the rust.
