    Class #244 78c653a9b6afa2ccbfe84760ab07d603

Classroom number two-hundred and forty-four serves as the remedial course for Academy Students. However today they would be reserved for a host of Genin taking their written exam for their first official test to see if they qualify as Chuunin. The room has twenty-five desks, with twelve of them currently occupied by ninja from different backgrounds. They all sat in seats separated randomly. It was half an hour before eleven o'clock, which was when the test was set to begin. A blackboard was at the front of the classroom with...what's this? Ten answers which seemingly match the questions written on the test. Below the answers are two rules for the exam. All of the tests were already passed around on the desks, blank and ready to be filled in.

1.) Do not start until the proctor instructs you to.
2.) Complete all ten questions within the hour. (Jan. 28th.)

When the test begins you have to answer all ten questions.

E-tier Intelligence lets you answer all 10 questions.

Post by Chigetsu Wed Jan 08, 2020 3:43 pm

The first section of the Chunin Exams seemed to be a written exam, strangely enough. Chigetsu hadn’t really known what to expect, but this definitely wasn’t it. After filling out that little slip of paper with her information on it in order to enter, she had been directed immediately into one of the Academy’s many classrooms. This was actually a room she recognized too, having entered it during her last mission that went into the academy. Class #244 was for remedial courses. Probably not something that anyone wanted to take, although since Chigetsu had never come through the academy she didn’t really know what they entailed. It seemed that the Academy Students had the day off or something too, judging by how every inside the room seemed to be of Genin age at first glance. After taking a few glances in through the door, Chigetsu would slowly enter. She would slip quietly into one of the empty seats. Each desk had a piece of paper on it, presumably the test, along with a writing instrument. What appeared to be instructions would be written up on the blackboard on the front of the classroom. Chigetsu would take a moment to read over everything before doing anything at all, wanting to make sure she knew what was happening.

It didn’t take long to notice that the blackboard appeared to have a bunch of answers written down, all of which matched the questions on the test. That was very strange? Chigetsu would immeditely be confused at that. Was this some sort of trick? They were just giving the answers out just like that. Were the answers wrong? Analyzing the questions a bit, Chigetesu would attempt to silently do the problems in her head. After a few moments of that it did seem like the first answer was indeed correct for the first question. The entire situation was baffling, and Chigetsu’s head would swirl uncomfortably.

It was then that she would realize the ‘trick’ though. There were two rules. Complete all ten questions within the time limit, and do not start until the proctor instructs you to. The ‘trick’ here, at least she assumed, was that people would end up failing if they started before given the go to. Maybe the proctor would do something cruel, like only announce to start when they had a minute left too? There was no way to know right now. The test hadn’t started yet. Glancing at the clock above the doorway for a moment, Chigetsu would settle on silently counting the seconds, waiting to see what would happen. She would leave the test entirely blank, not daring to touch her pencil.

Zeke walked down the hallway looking for the room that was listed on the piece of paper that he was given. 'Class number 244.' He thought while walking down the hallway. A few other genins were gathered in the halls doing the same thing he was doing. It did not take long before he found the room he was looking for. A standard looking classroom with some people already inside. Genin from all walks of life had already been seated. Twenty-five seats sat in the room with thirteen of them already sitting down in random spots around the room. No doubt to keep people from cheating on their exams.

This exam was a first for Zeke, he had only just become an active ninja but he was already being thrust into the fray. Regardless of what happens, he knew that it would be a good experience for him. Granted he was a bit apprehensive about taking a written exam, he had some flashbacks to his own academy days. It was enough to send a shiver down his spine. 'Hopefully, this thing isn't too hard.'

He made his way into the classroom, gazing around the room at the other genin already sitting down. He made his way to the middle of the room where were empty seats surrounding one chair not directly in the middle but pretty damn close. He pulled the seat out and sat down. He scooted closer to the desk and looked down at the test. He didn't grasp it right away but looked to the front of the room. He saw the blackboard with stuff written on it. Ten numbers with answers written next to them were on the board with two rules.

He read it in his head, 'Do not start until the proctor instructs you to. Complete all ten questions within the hour.'

'Well that seems easy enough seems the answers are already on the board.' All he had to do was wait for the proctor to say the test had started, easy right? So Zeke sat there waiting, tapping his pencil on the desk while he bobbed his head back and forth.

Post by Toshiyuki Wed Jan 08, 2020 6:44 pm

After signing up for the exams, Toshi was given a small piece of paper '244' was all that was written on it. It seemed simple enough. He'd never thought he'd be doing the exams, and he wanted to keep it a secret that he was doing them. After an incident with some Ryuutei clan members at a lake, he'd had his arm broken, and he thought now was as good of a time as any to enter the exams. Hoping that he'd seem to be on medical leave he was taking a chance here. As he was donning a cast on his right arm and a tight face mask spanning from the bridge of his nose to underneath the shirt he wore, he'd at least made it here without being recognized.

'240, 242, 244,' Toshiyuki would think to himself as he approached the room, sliding the door open and casually entering. He'd look for an empty desk towards the back as his eyes adeptly dodge any glances from the dozenish genin who'd arrived before him. As he took his seat in the back, he noticed that the test was already placed on his desk and, he noted with a quick glance, everyone else's. He'd quietly review the contents on the board, looked back at the exam on his desk, reviewed it intensely, looked back up to the board, and back down at the exam once more as sweat began to form on his face. 'It can't be this easy. I'm gonna fail. I can already here it. Here comes Toshi the eternal genin.' In his mind he began to picture it, him all wrinkly and old. A bunch of toddlers in jonin flak jackets dancing around him singing "Here comes Toshi, a genin forever. He's gonna fail, every endeavor."

'No. Toshi, be cool. Be cool. No one else is panicking, be coooool.' Toshi would start taking long deep breaths as his legs bounced rapidly. He'd read the board once more reading the two rules very slowly. 'Do not start until the proctor instructs you to.' Toshi looked around not yet seeing an instructor, but maybe he wasn't here just yet. 'Complete all ten questions within the hour.' This statement though seemed redundant. Why would they add this extra pressure. It was already bad enough that the proctor wasn't there, but worse yet they restated the time limit. He should've known it wouldn't be a simple test on military tactics, shuriken trajectories, and history. There was always some trick some catch.

As his stress levels began to quickly become intolerable- and it had barely been two minutes that he'd been in here- Toshi would push down on use his thumb to push down on middle finger causing the joint to pop, as nitrogen was quickly released. He'd push harder letting until it hurt focusing on the pain as he tried to keep his breathing slow. 'Our exams are already here. So an examiner had already at least been in the room.' Toshi reread the rules a third time. 'Do not start until the proctor instructs you to.' Maybe the proctor would come in in the next few minutes and tell the group that they were to begin soon, but what if he/she didn't. 'Complete all ten questions within the hour.' The genin was sure that if an ox could read and write, they could complete these questions in under a minute. With that he'd release the pressure he'd put on his finger

Toshiyuki penciled 4 hypotheses into his head starting with the least likely scenario to most. He's quietly stand up to propose his idea, his best case scenario. "Shouldn't we fi[nd]..." At the simple thought of any of the other genin turning to question him, or ask him his opinion Toshi would freeze up becoming unable to speak and his eyes would quickly dart to the right as he'd take his seat again, slowly sinking wishing he could just disappear. 'I should probably wait for someone else to say something. What if I'm wrong and we all fail because of it. I can't.' Beads of sweat would pour down the genin's face once again.

OOC: Toshi doesn't say the '[nd]' in 'fi[nd]'. I just put that in brackets to make it clear which 'i' sound it was. also sorry for the wall of text.

    Toshi's Hypotheses:

    Class #244 04f10d10
Hua Li's Kudo Cues to Conquering the 'xams:

Among the genin present in the class, one easily stood out above the others. The type of gal that was born to be a pop idol. Cute, charming, brimming with confidence and dressed to catch the eye of the crowd. The hat and the attitude gave her a tomboyish expression, the sunglasses she wore giving the impression she was about to ace that test like no other. She wore a simple tee, creatively revealing the words 'PoP (S)tart', and a Kumogakure headband around her neck which partially hid a jade pendant. The flimsy jacket on top seemed unnecessary, though one could assume it was more a matter of stating a fashion than really needing to be covered against the acceptable temperature within the room. Wearing a pair of shorts, her legs would have been mostly bare were it not for the fishnet stockings she wore which eventually disappeared under traditional shinobi sandals. So any conclusion that she was no part of the shinobi clique was hereby voided though it wouldn't necessarily stop others from scoffing at the idea of a shinobi with that over-confident attitude.

As she too waited for the proctor to arrive, she didn't hesitate to spend her time chatting with others, cooing or downright charming her way into their hearts with her enthusiasm. One thing was certain; this girl was one heck of a social butterfly. If she even had an inkling of insecurities about the exams, she boisterously laughed them away to blab about what a joke this exam was considering the answers were written on the blackboard. Heck, even when some muttered that it simply couldn't be what it looked like, she playfully winked at the gent in question before proceeding to compliment (and indulge herself) into the hidden intelligence said person obviously had.

Ah. But when more and more people entered the room and tension was slowly cutting its way through the bubbles of pride and confidence, even this 'popstar' quieted down. Perhaps it was all but a mask to hide her true insecurities about this whole ordeal, or maybe the girl simply emphatically mimicked the worries preoccupying the others. After all... When was this proctor about to show up anyway?!

"I bet the proctor will just let us sit here. Make us worried sick until the last second.", she mused, voicing what many genin thought. "I say we start already. No point in waiting if they're going to be late, right?!.". And with those words, she picked up her pen and started to fill in her exam. Caring none for rules, as if she considered herself already a privileged popstar. But perceptive eyes could see that she, too, was having troubles keeping up that confidence as hands trembled ever so lightly despite her bold statement...

Two more Genin entered after Chigetsu did. Given that there were maybe a dozen or so who were already in the room when she had entered, it was reassuring to know that she wouldn’t be the last one to enter. Even though it was still about half an hour before anything started, being the last to arrive was never a good feeling. Her eyes would flicker on the two others as they came in, unable to help herself but glance at them each. The first was a tallish young man, with a muscular looking build. He was actually pretty attractive, and so once Chigetsu noticed this her eyes would flicker away, not wanting to look as though she was staring at him. Whoever he was, he had a pretty face, especially with his blonde hair and blue eyes. Blondie stuck out too, so she would definitely remember his face if Chigetsu ever ran into him again. The second who entered somehow managed to be even taller than the last, although thin instead of muscular. Unlike Blondie, he was a bit more average looking if you didn’t count his height. Brown hair, brownish eyes. Nothing special. After a few seconds of thinking, Chigetsu would dub this guy as ‘Tall Boy’ in her head. She didn’t know either of their names, and so ‘Blondie’ and ‘Tall Boy’ were nicknames she came up with as she watched them come in. It was a way of passing the time while she waited. Some of the other Genin seemed to be passing the time through idle conversation, but Chigetsu would keep to herself throughout.

It was when a girl spoke, someone who had already been here when Chigetsu arrived, that Chigetsu would find her attention caught. The girl had been a bit of a chatterbox earlier, obviously a social butterfly, which had been impossible to ignore as Chigetsu came in. The girl would thus be named ‘Butterfly’ in her head. Butterfly seemed to echo exactly what Chigetsu had been thinking earlier, clearly having come to the same conclusion. It was probably the subject that was on everyone’s mind right now. Everyone was probably wondering about this strange exam, with the lack of proctor in the room and the answers all being written up on the blackboard. It was a conundrum. Obviously there was some trick here, it was just a matter of figuring out what the trick was. It was the second part though, that Chigetsu found herself frowning at.

“It says not to start until the proctor tells us to.” She would be quick to say, speaking for the first time since entering the room. The girl had already clearly started by the time that Chigetsu had spoken, which made it probably too late, but she still felt the need to speak up. “It’s not even eleven yet. If you start early you’re probably going to fail.” As soon as she spoke up, Chigetsu found herself regretting it. Why was she saying any of this? If the girl failed, that would probably only be good for Chigetsu. Less competition. She might have even convinced others to do so too. Speaking up so quickly was undoubtedly a dumb move, and Chigetsu would frown again now at her own mistake. She wasn’t even normally one to speak up in the first place, usually too anxious. Of course, the one time she could talk in public naturally was when it would end up hurting her. She wanted to smack herself now.

This did tip her off a little bit though. The fact that it was so obvious was probably a tip that what she had immediately assumed wasn’t true. Having the proctor enter at the last second just to tell them to start would only be a test of speed, and would honestly be a little bit dumb. Plus, if that was a conclusion that someone as dumb at Butterfly could come to, it probably wasn’t going to legitimately be the exam’s trick. And if that wasn’t the trick, it meant that Chigetsu still hadn’t realized what the trick was yet. There was no point announcing this train of thought though, and the pink-haired girl would bite her lower lip as she thought to herself. After a moment of thought, Chigetsu would stick her hands into the desk’s interior section, where books would normally be stored. Where they couldn’t be seen she would form the Tiger hand seal. Immediately her chakra would flair, and she would perform the Genjutsu Kai. She didn’t know exactly if she was in a Genjutsu or not, but she was beginning to suspect it was a possibility. As soon as she did it, Chigetsu would stare around the room to see if anything was different. Her eyes would glance over her test, the answers on the board, the clock, and then all the students in the class in that order, trying to pick out any differences. If she saw nothing, she would move on from the possibility of Genjutsu and try to think of what other trick there could be.

A C-rank genjutsu has been broken.]

    Class #244 Arcane11

A genjutsu has been broken. Which one it was may well remain a mystery but as the chakra of the genin presses against the fabrics of a false reality, the underlying truth of it all reveals itself. Such is the Way of Chigetsu, genin of Kirigakure.

As the answers on the black board disappear, the ceiling also reveals a particularly large Fuinjutsu Seal bearing an unknown script. Four tendrils of the Seal run across the walls, making it look as if they were the ribbons holding the wrapping of a present together. A new test reveals itself, as the genin are tasked to figure out what this means. Are they trapped? Perhaps part of a greater scheme?

To make matters worse, the questions on the papers have now become illegible, too. Some of them look written in a foreign script, some are downright gibberish and yet others ask questions on matters not even related to shinobi life. Have you lost your mind? Is this the real test? What is happening?

And with the rules still present and the proctor still not around, how will the genin succeed now?

[Difficulty of passing the test: Impossibru?! D: ]

Sitting down in his chair near the middle of the room. Zeke said nothing as another genin entered the room right after him. It was hard to tell what kind of face he was making due to wearing a face mask. Was he sick? Did he have some sort of disfigurement or did he just want to hide his identity? It didn't matter much to Zeke in the grand scheme of things he wasn't here to meet people but to do the exams. He watched the kid make his way to the back of the room before turning back around. Before he turned around he noticed another genin quickly turning away as to not make eye contact. A girl? No a guy possibly, Zeke wasn't too sure of the gender either way Zeke turned back around in his seat. Then he heard a voice from the back room which prompted Zeke to turn around in his chair once again. A girl wearing a quite colorful outfit, to say the least. She was one of the genins, he glanced at as he entered the room. Then again Zeke wasn't wearing usual ninja attire either so there wasn't much room to judge.

The words she spoke held some truth's to it yet he didn't wanna possibly get tossed out of the exams at such an early stage. He wanted to see all of the exams before it was all said and done. It would be embarrassing to lose this early in the game due to ignoring some simple rules. Yet, it was so tempting to just fill out the test before the proctor came in. Then the girl picked up her pen and began to fill out the exam with no regard for the rules. As this happened the individual who broke the line of sight before Zeke could actually lock eyes spoke up. Only repeating the rules stated with a warning to go along with it. They too were correct in their statement. Then again the proctor was not present in the room. It was a bit odd for the individual to warn the girl about passing this portion of the exam. Why did they care really, if the girl were to fail, it would be one less competitor.

Zeke stayed quiet during the exchange of words, something was a bit off about all of this. Why make them wait? There was something off about this whole thing, Zeke had a bad feeling in his gut but he played it off as if nothing was wrong. This occurred all before looking over at the white-haired individual. He still wasn't quite sure of the gender but he made an effort anyways to comfort them. “It's all good what happens happens, maybe she gets away with it maybe she doesn't. If she wants to roll the dice let her.”

The individual with the white-haired turned to their desk and placed their arms inside of the little slot where books go. What they were doing was beyond Zeke so he turned his attention back on the girl who spoke before. He glanced back over at the pop star in the back of the room only a few desks behind him. Then it happened, the answers on the blackboard began to disappear and a large Fuinjutsu seal appeared on the ceiling. Zeke only noticed this a second later when the tendrils began to run across the walls. “Oh shit.” He muttered as he stood up,  grasping his test in one hand. He looked at the test to see the words on the paper had been changed to some sort of gibberish. 'I know I am not tripping balls so this has to be a genjutsu or maybe the seal on the ceiling is doing this.' He thought for a moment as he glanced across the room. No doubt everyone was in just as much shock and awe as he was. He made sure not to freak out but the question was how was he going to deal with this?

He clenched a fist knowing he had to break the seal somehow but how could he do that without bringing the whole room down on the genin present. Then again why should he care about everyone else? 'No that's the last resort.' he thought to himself before speaking aloud. “Anyone thinks they can break that seal!?” Asking for help was the next best thing to do besides brute-forcing his way out of this situation. Then again there was another way. It dawned on him, the pop star in the back had already filled out her test. There was nothing against the rules about snatching a test that was already done. Was it a bit on the sinister side? Yes, it was. But Zeke was filled with determination to see this test through to the end.

Zeke made his way over to the pop stars' location, three desks back he moved with a purpose. Considering she had been writing down answers this whole time she had to be done. It was a gamble but Zeke needed to have a foundation or he was going to blow the top off the academy with little regard for anyone's safety. He stood in front of the pop star and would make an attempt to snatch the test off her desk quickly before she could even realize it.

Rini had received a paper with the room number 244, and so rolled herself over to the room she was assigned. Struggling for a moment, she slid open the door, and used the doorframe to pull herself and the wheelchair into the room, before spinning around and struggling to close the door again. Out of breath by such a simple test of strength and moving her wheelchair, Rini sat for a few seconds, letting herself rest up. Then it dawned on her that other people were in the room and probably saw the whole display.

Her ears flared up almost as red as her hair, and she pulled her hood up over her face and rolled down the first row of chairs until she got to an open seat, moving the chair that was at the desk, again with some difficulty. She wouldn't respond if anyone asked her if she wanted any help, but wouldn't fight against people actually just helping her out. Instead she'd just stay bright red and embarrassed and say nothing.

She'd fiddle with her Kumogakure headband that hung around her neck and look up at the board, which was empty minus the rules. Immediately though, she'd start to think. Rini's eyes went down to the paper at her desk and back up to the board, looking to see if there was some sort of cipher, but she doubted there was one in the first place. If there was, it was more complex than anything she'd ever seen, and that was saying something, given she was probably one of the smartest people in the world and seeing patterns was something she got immediately.

Either that, or the cipher wouldn't be given until the test was about to begin. But at that point, what was the point in the rule saying not to begin until the proctor said so? Rini sighed and leaned back in her wheelchair, waiting for the test to begin. She happened to look up while doing so, and saw the fuuinjutsu she'd missed the entire time given her embarassment and frowned, pulling her hood down so she could see the seal easier. Was the seal the cipher?

'Is this a test of some sort? Solve the seal and you'll solve the problems?' Rini wasn't a fuuinjutsu specialist, but she didn't think that fuuinjutsu worked like that. Seals tended to store things, not change things like a test. Fuuinjutsu could hold a genjutsu though, and keep it in place. Although, perhaps it wasn't even a fuuinjutsu. Perhaps there never had been a fuuinjutsu.

"Genjutsu? Or Fuuinjutsu?" Rini would ask out loud, more to herself than anyone else. She tended to think out loud, and wasn't quite used to other people being around when she did so. Then again, perhaps this was part of the test. Maybe she shouldn't be trying to solve it at all. Rini shrugged and pulled her hood back over her head and slumped back in the chair, waiting for a proctor to come in and say something. She didn't care a whole lot about the test herself.

As soon as the bubbly popstar spoke up, Toshi began to sweat more as his palpable guilt began welling up. 'I... I should have spoken up. She's gonna fail. Isn't she? Is she?' The masked ninja didn't have to wait long before two other genin spoke up on it, incidentally relieving some of his stress. All of these genin came here of their own accord to make their own decisions. He came here to measure himself, to prove himself just like the rest of them, and he was being conceited to think otherwise. This situation was different from a mission or a Ryuutei clan assignment, everyone was here representing themselves, and for him to insult them by presuming responsibility for their success or failure was a grand disservice to his competitors. If the opportunity presented itself he'd have to thank the blonde for reminding him of an essential cornerstone of Ryuutei philosophy.

It seemed as if someone else was moving things along in their own way though. As Toshiyuki once again tried to center himself, everything in the room seemed to scramble. A seal centered on the ceiling, began to spread around the room. Of course this test wouldn't be easy. Why would he think it'd be easy, but it was better this way. He would chuckle though, and let a quiet response as he respected the possibly accidental pun the proctor had crafted. "Hehe. 'Seal'ing no Jutsu." The blonde's adverse response to the jutsu as well as the general vibe the other genin gave off was telling enough that everyone saw what was happening. Which meant that any answers previously on the board would have to be answers that the genin had memorized, annoying, but simple enough to combat. Toshi would mold his chakra quietly and place a genjustu layered thinly in the back left corner of the room, such that anyone standing in the corner would be submerged into a genjutsu world where the answers were still present on the board.

A quick question from a girl that he'd previously not even noticed come in, prompted Toshi to stop in his tracks though before he could finish molding his chakra for his genjutsu. It wasn't addressed to him or anyone else really. It was a simple question, or statement really, that cut away the noise of the situation: 'What we are seeing is a barrier between us, between me,' Toshi would correct himself, 'and finishing this leg of the exam. Figure out what it is and get past it.' At least that's how he interpreted it. In another situation he might have been impressed by the ninja, he'd normally think of as too frail to even be here. For now she was another person he owed for helping him get out of his manic head space.

Slightly calmer now the Pop Star[t] genin's "I say we start already," ate away at him. Even if the other genin peeled away the illusion, or seal, or whatever it was, nothing would change unless they got the instructor's permission to start. “It says not to start until the proctor tells us to,” the phrase uttered by the pink haired genin was also suspicious, and possibly a warning from a proctor not to start, but that oh so familiar social anxiety seemed almost too genuine. The handicapped kumo nin was the kind he adored crushing. He could sense it on her that calm focus as she picked apart the seal paying no mind to her surroundings. Between the three contenders he had for being the proctor, she was the one he hoped would be it. As she carefully nudged everyone else on the proper track, a hidden feral beast inside of him would cause him to ignore his intuition in favor of his instincts. If it was a fuuinjutsu, he'd sit back and let the other ninja dispel it since there wouldn't be much he could do to contribute. If it was a genjutsu he didn't mind being a few steps behind. He didn't know if it was the right choice, but he had to know if one of the genin here was actually the proctor.

-I'm rp precogging the ninja who did sketchy stuff (probs not a real thing): Chigetsu, Hua Li, and Rini. Toshi is watching them to see if they'll slip up, and reveal that they are the spectator. Soo yeah, Observation Post 1 I guess.

    Class #244 04f10d10

Her resolve was being tested. This chick from Kirigakure had a point when she said they had to follow the rules, but... there was no rule stating they couldn't cheat or disobey. And the whole point of being a chuunin was to make your own calls, right? Or...? She'd bite her lip in doubt for a moment. Then decided to renew her resolve. No, she would write those answer down! Her hand started to write again. Another answer. And another one. Then they disappeared. The black board had lost its answers, keeping only the rules. Whaaaaa?!

Confused, almost panicked, she looked around. Things had changed. There was this Fuinjutsu Seal above them now, wrapped around the room like they were a present. The words on her papers had changed. She no longer could read them. She couldn't even read the answers she had penned down. The genin sighed in defeat. See... It couldn't have been that easy. Because of her, nobody would pass the test now... She shouldn't have started writing things down, triggering whatever punishment the proctor had put in place.

In the corner of her eye, something moved. Or rather, someone. She turned her head, just to see this guy sneak up on her and reach for her paper. For a brief moment, he'd see a cunning flicker in her eyes. Pulling away her hand and her paper to stay out of reach. The speed with which she did so was high and by all means it should have looked as if Zeke simply wouldn't be capable of grabbing it. Yet... There he had them. The papers. Had he been dreaming her speed? Or had he simply been lucky? Nothing was certain anymore but one thing: the papers were his. And when he'd look upon them, he'd notice she had penned down six out of ten answers. If only he could read them...

"H-Hey!? Give that back!", she shouted, jumping off her chair.

    Resolving
    - Zeke's snatching: Success. You believe her to have B-rank coordination?
    - S-rank INT: This is a simple Fuinjutsu Seal. It encrypts text within its grasp in a variety of ways. Coding, camouflaging, random translations, gibberish, etc... Otherwise said, it takes away the ability to read something.
    - Precog in progress.

Post by Chigetsu Sun Jan 12, 2020 8:29 pm

The series of events that occurred following that Genjutsu Kai had been unexpected. It was a bit of a shot in the dark, so the sudden drastic change caught Chigetsu by surprise. Immediately she would freeze up, resulting in her being unable to react to the following fast movements by her classmates. Blondie ended up snatching the test out of Butterfly’s hands, and the particular way in which this happened was something that Chigetsu was able to catch. Then there was the entrance of a new person. Wheelchair Girl. She was from Kumo, apparently. Not that village identification mattered much to Chigetsu, but the headband was the first thing that she picked up on past the wheelchair, and naming this person ‘Wheelchair Girl’ felt a bit mean. She settled on the name Wheelchair Girl after a few moments of being unable to come up with anything else, but she did feel a bit guilty about it.

It was important to take count of everything that happened, and all of the present information. It seemed like this was a bit more complicated than it had initially appeared. The questions on the tests were all now complete nonsense. The answers on the blackboard disappeared. It was clear that both had been a genjutsu, and that neither were a part of the ‘real’ test. This room now, with the gibberish tests and the fuuinjutsu on the ceiling were likely real… or were they? Staring up at the ceiling now, Chigetsu would examine the seal. Her experience with this subject was entirely theoretical, and so she wouldn’t be able to pick up anything at a glance, but she couldn’t help but wonder if the seal itself was actually real. There was definitely the possibility that it was a fake seal just meant to throw them off. That, or the seal was apart of a second layered genjutsu. The only thing that was certain was that the seal didn’t seem to prevent anyone from entering, as Wheelchair Girl managed to enter the room fine after the genjutsu had been revealed. Presumably it wouldn’t stop them from leaving either. That was at least a relief. What Wheelchair Girl thought aloud, of whether this was a Genjutsu or a Fuuinjutsu, was spot on though. It was the same question Chigetsu was wondering right now. Given that the reaction had been immediate and shocking for the entire class when Chi had used that Kai a few moments ago, she would hold off on trying again for now.

There was one thing that was clear now though. The proctor was definitely in the room. With the amount of set up that would be required for this all (assuming it wasn’t just another genjutsu), there would be no way they weren’t watching over everything to ensure things went smoothly. It was just a matter of who. The proctor had to be disguised somehow, either as a student or as an object through the transformation technique. There had been twelve people inside the room before Chigetsu had entered. After she got here, Blondie, Tall Boy, and Wheelchair Girl came in that order. Those three could be crossed off as being suspicious, given that the proctor was probably either the first person or one of the first people that had entered the room. Obviously Chigetsu wasn’t the proctor either, and so that left twelve people as potential suspects. Of course, if they were transformed as a ceiling fan or something like that it would be impossible to know. There wasn’t really anyone in particular who was overly suspicious either, which made this difficult.

Thus, her goals at the moment were as follows: Flush out the proctor, get rid of the seal, and find the true test. One of these would be a little easier than the others. Raising her left hand out of the desk, she would point her index finger over at the wall that contained the windows. She would aim at one of the seal’s tendrils, and after a moment of hesitation she would fire. A water bullet would erupt from her finger tip and stream out of the room, blowing a clean hole through the wall. The bullet would drill right through and continue out the other side, where it would travel up into the air until dissipating. She had shot the bullet specifically at an angle to ensure she wouldn’t end up hitting anything outside, or the room above them. There would now be a finger-sized hole running right through the seal, created from the bullet. Would that be enough to break it?

The pop star wasn't too happy about the snatching of her test clearly. Her voice could be heard over the commotion no doubt. The snatch was a success, but that was only part of Zeke's plan. He could only make out that six of the ten questions had been answered. It was all still gibberish and nonsense. He backed up to stay out of reaching distance of the girl, he wasn't too happy about his actions. He did what he needed to do to stay ahead of the game. Zeke noticed they were joined by another competitor, but this time it was a girl in a wheelchair. More people think this whole thing through the better. That made something clear, however, the seal did not keep people out or in. It was merely a visual distortion of the world around them. There was one conclusion that popped into Zeke's head. Someone in this room was causing it. It had to be the proctor. The question was, who was the proctor? It was a good thing he decided against starting the test or he could have received an auto fail at that moment.

No one really gave an outward answer to knowing how to stop the seal in the room. The girl in the wheelchair spoke out loud yet it was no clear answer. But it dawned on Zeke, a simple answer to the ever-growing situation at hand. The seal was on the ceiling correct? All they needed to do was find a way to disrupt it. It seemed that someone else beat him to the punch, however. The same genin from earlier who had placed their hands in their desk made a move on the seal. She aimed a finger at one of the tendrils located on the wall closest to the outside and fired a water bullet. A bullet that would fly through the air and smash through the tendril on the wall to the outside.

It left a finger-sized hole in the wall where the tendril was but the question remained. Would that be enough to disrupt the seal? With the seized test in hand, Zeke got what they were putting down. Find a way to break the seal even if it meant a little bit of demolition. He moved through the classroom back towards the middle of the room and made his move. The ceiling was that of modern make, hopefully, the seal was just on the tiles of the ceiling and not the floor itself. He folded the test in half and placed it in his back pocket. He then climbed up on a desk and pushed up on the tile where the seal intersected at. He removed the tile completely, revealing the crawl space above it. He did this a few more times to break the seal on the tiles hoping that would stop the jutsu from functioning. This was all assuming the jutsu was just on the tiles and not on the floor above. The tiles were tossed to the ground around Zeke's position. Hopefully, his actions would prompt the other students to take action.

Rini sat at her desk, waiting for someone to say something about the test, or for it to start. She looked at the clock in the room, and sighed, before resting on her arms on her desk. She looked out over everyone else, watching what they were doing, and then she saw it. Chigetsu raised her finger, aiming towards a piece of the seal and Rini spoke up to interrupt her, sitting up in her seat fast. "Pink hair, hold on! That's a bad idea!" It was rushed, but she wanted to get that out first.

"Think about it. The test hasn't started yet right? I wasn't late, given I was allowed to enter the room. The proctor isn't here to start the test yet. That means that the seal might not be here as a problem, but to prevent you from reading the test properly before it begins. And since I wasn't late, that means that nobody has said to start, which means that nobody should be starting. Attempting to remove the seal might just result in failure, if it is actually part of the test." Hopefully she'd interrupted Chigetsu's attempt to shoot in a convincing manner.

"Besides, removing a seal via destruction isn't smart. It wouldn't be part of the test unless there was another way to do so. Most people don't know Fuuinjutsu, so it's not really a fair assessment to have it as part of the test itself, to determine if any or all of us are Chuunin material. I don't expect it to really be fair, but that's just not most people's skill set. So if there's a way to remove it without Fuuinjutsu, it's disruption of the seal, or there's a way to do so in this room. They wouldn't set it up so you have to destroy it, since we're in a building. People don't like destruction of property, so I don't imagine that's the way we really should choose."

"These tests are designed to see if we think like Chuunin would. Think outside the box, to accomplish a goal with what information you're given. What are we presented with here?"

She sighed, pushing her glassed up onto her face, answering her own question without giving anyone a chance to interrupt. Her brain was firing and she was on a roll. "Only visible words in this room are on the blackboard with the rules. That, and the seal are the pieces of information we are given. Only begin when the proctor says to. Has anyone said to begin? Cause if not, then you probably shouldn't work on removing the seal. It'll either go away when the test starts so we can begin, or it won't, and we'll know it's part of the test. But the test has to start first for us to begin, which means that we need to establish that it has. We don't know if the test has started, because nobody has said to begin, at least since I came in. If someone has before that, then identify them and bring me to them please."

Patterns, and information. If there was anything Rini was good at, it was information gathering. She ran a shadow organization devoted to the entire thing. Finding things out and delivering that information. She often had less to go on than this, so she had to work with what she knew. The rules and the seal. First find out the start of the test. That meant determining whether it had or not before they worked safely on the seal.

The rules didn't say they couldn't work together, which meant that they were all assets to each other to complete the test. Rini was the brains, so she'd utilize the others as her assets to determine if they were already being tested. And if they weren't, then it didn't matter that she was directing them. Given that, she determined there was no drawback to working together at the moment, and she wasn't going to impede them. If the test hadn't started, there was no trouble. If the test had started, they were encouraged to work together. Given the rules as they were laid out, that was the point of this exercise. What can they accomplish with unknown assets to achieve their goals?

They were about to find out. If someone had said to start, she needed to know who and have them in front of her. If they hadn't, then she'd just saved some people from failing, and they'd owe her. Win win. Either way, it advanced their knowledge of the test and benefited them all currently to work together. Her gaze shifted over the group, stopping on them all momentarily, before ending at the Pop Star girl, who had said to Zeke to give something back. Rini had a deduction to make about her but didn't want to say anything just yet.

The thing was, there weren't many genjutsu that Rini would be caught in. If the girl used a genjutsu, she'd see through it immediately, knowing it for what it was. If Zeke had been caught in a genjutsu and Rini could see it, then she'd know it was a genjutsu. If Zeke had been caught in the genjutsu, but nobody else could see it, the statement would stand out as strange and verify that at least one person was doing something odd here.

-Precogging Chigetsu's attempt to fire a Water jutsu, to stop that action from happening. Hoping to incidentally stop Zeke from removing the tiles just yet by Rini's deduction.

"You're wrong." Toshiyuki would let out a sharp toothed grin, as he refuted the handicap girl's statement. "Firstly you can't assume that you weren't late because you were allowed to take the test. There are only two rules." Slowly Toshi would raise his left index finger as a lopsided grin spread all the way across his face. "One: We are not to start until the proctor tells us to begin." He'd then slowly raise his middle finger to join his index. "Two: We are to complete all ten questions within the hour. I didn't notice you come in, so you may not have been here earlier but Miss Pop Star[t] over here," Toshi would point a suspicious finger at the flashy, super social genin among them. His words were pointed as to get a reaction out of everyone in the room, hoping the real proctor would be among them and slip up. If he was wrong he was simply wasting his time. "said we should start already. That being said we have no way to verify that she is a proctor and not an airhead whose already lost her opportunity to become a chunin."

Having summoned the courage already, Toshi would try to keep his pace going. He was obviously stressing though as sweat began to roll down his face. "Also you two. Pinkette. Wheels." He'd switch his accusatory finger from Huan Li to Chigetsu to Rini as he called out the latter two. It was also beginning to become obvious that he was challenging Rini and her intellect. He want to crush her path underfoot, and therefor stood directly opposed to her even though he believe the truth, in this case, lay somewhere in between. "It could be the case that either of you are proctors, and the signal to go lies here somewhere  hidden from view obscured by genjutsu or fuuinjutsu." He'd start watching the other genin's reactions now. "Meanwhile they are distracting us with words of doubt like: 'it says not to start until the proctor tells us to' or 'attempting to remove the seal might just result in failure, if it is actually part of the test'."  He'd lock eyes with Zeke now, who also was one he held in suspicion now after he snatched away the test of the girl who started early. "Are you going to let these possible proctors manipulate you or will you take matters into your own hands like a proper chunin would."

He was dying inside. Really he just wanted to keel over and die, but this was important. The masked nin couldn't stop now, well he could, but he shouldn't he just needed to keep pushing a little more. Hopefully get the proctor to slip up as well as frustrate the bespectacled brainiac in doing so. If she turned out to be the proctor really that would just be a two-for-one. He'd now raise himself from his seat attempting to lock eyes with Rini from above her so he could look down on her as he began to crescendo. "Now one last thing before you go bother miss 'Pop Star[t]'. How do we know that whatever you are about to do to her will help us succeed. I, personally, didn't notice you come in and you definitely weren't here when she began working on her own exam. Tell us. No, prooove~ to us how whatever you are doing will actually be helpful," He make a small, red orb of light the size of a cherry that'd rest in the palm of his hand as he spoke.

"And that you aren't simply going to throw her into a genjutsu, physically remove her, or otherwise DQ her from the exams. Unless of course you are the proctor and this really is a ploy to stop us from progressing and finish the test while you get rid of the only person to start 'early'." His toothy lopsided grin would stretch uncomfortably far. If there was no reaction to his usage of jutsu by the room he'd immediately crush the orb as he finished talking, as a metaphor for how the genin in the wheelchair might crush the possible cheater that started early.

Worst case scenario he just annoyed some one he'd have to work with later on, maybe even in this very test. Best case scenario he was wrong and dispelling the fuuin/genjutsu would actually get people DQ'd since that would mean that the blonde and the pinkette wouldn't be competitors later down the line. Whatever the case he acknowledged that each of the other individuals should make their own decisions, and that it was probably for the best if they ended up ignoring him. Whatever the result he would display his resolve to corner the disabled nin he looked down on hoping to back her into a corner and limit her options. Toshi thought secret prayers hoping she would be the prideful type that valued their own intelligence more than anything and refused to be bested by others. For the first time in a while Toshi found himself having fun.[/color]

    Class #244 04f10d10

Staying away from the pop star genin might be easier said than done. She was surprisingly lean, with good reflexes. In the confined area that was this room, a straight speed test hardly provided the benefit the boy might have expected for himself. But was this so surprising? A healthy pop star, if she physically actually matched her presence, had quite a good amount of stamina and agility from all that singing and dancing. While one might argue their presence of being to be their only real asset, the girl proved to be a tad more than that for sure.

But the game of cat and mouse halted when she noticed a pink haired girl called Chigetsu point her finger as if to fire. She had not noticed the hand seals for the jutsu, but in a class full of genin, full of people capable of molding chakra, one could never say gunning a certain direction was just a joking matter. A moment of hesitance allowed Zeke to eventually gain his distance as she contemplated the possibility the pink-haired girl was about to fire straight into the wall. Using a jutsu during a written exam... Was that even allowed? Fortunately, such questions would not need to be discussed as the girl in the wheelchair chimed in.

From her point of view, her words spoke true. They made sense. Though... She didn't know everything as she had joined at a later time. She probably didn't know little pop star had practically decided on her own to start the test already. Under the rather 'obvious' idea that there was no rule saying she wasn't allowed to cheat or disregard the first rule. To her, the second rule seemed of greater importance than the first - was it not so that one had to break sometimes to achieve success during a mission? Yet, halfway through copying the answers, doubt had crept up on her. Was she entitled to reason as such? What if...? That moment of hesitance had eventually costed her.

Before she spoke up, she allowed the debate between two genin to go on. Both holding points worth thinking about. Yes, there was no proctor as far as anyone could tell, so no one to actually say they could start. At the same time, the girl in the wheelchair shed the opposite light on the matter: the proctor could be hidden. Simply waiting to fail people. To see who would take initiative of sorts as leadership required. Or perhaps to see who would investigate to collect intel before going over into action, as a good plan required. Or perhaps...?

"Aaahh!", she shouted in frustration. All that thinking just making things incomprehensibly difficult. "All these maybes and ifs... How do we even know how to think as a chuunin?! We are genin. Nothing more.". She'd cross her arms in proud defiance. Why run when they couldn't walk. It wasn't like any of their sensei had thought them how to be a chuunin. Leader or follower, nothing mattered as long as one gave it them all. Right?

Meanwhile, as the three of them debated and continued an unintended mass of confusion, the class slowly divided itself in smaller groups. Each group somewhat aligning themselves to one or another reasoning shared here in class. Some declared action, some declared caution. Others believed in ignoring the rules, then yet another group proclaimed order was a necessity. No one truly came to an unanimous agreement.

"I suppose the proctors already succeeded in manipulating us...", she mused as she looked around in class. Only then did she realise that one of them was standing on the desk, looking at the ceiling. Looking at the Seal with an idea in mind...

    [Zeke uses Ceiling-Shift no Jutsu.
OHKO! The Seal can no longer go on...]

With little effort, the ceiling tiles would give way under careful pressure of strength. Tiles could be shifted. Removed. And with it, the Seal would loose its completion. Like a jigsaw puzzle, the whole Seal crumbled into itself until nothing remained of it. A simple solution to a simple equation, really.

With the Seal gone, the answers on the black board returned once more. They had merely adapted the colour of the board. The questions on the papers became readable again. In fact, all but the answers of the pop star girl returned to what they once had been. Her answers, even now, remained unreadable for some reason.

Strange. By removing the Seal within the room, it pretty much looked like everything had returned to a point before Chigetsu had broken the global genjutsu. Another test...?

Wheelchair girl yelling out ‘Pink hair’ could only possibly refer to one person in the room. Nobody else here had pink here. Honestly, Chigetsu may have been the only person in the entire village who had pink hair. So the rushed interruption would immediately catch Chigetsu’s attention, with the girl’s arm frozen in place. Reflexively she turned to look at the girl who had called out to her, already a little flustered and caught off guard from merely just being called so suddenly.

Rini didn’t get far into her speech before a wave of dread would cross over Chigetsu’s face. Her arm would quickly lower, slamming into the desk accidentally in her haste before being shoved back into the desk’s interior. It had taken a few seconds for what Rini was saying to sink in. That she had been called out in the process of likely making a big mistake was embarrassing enough, but to have this girl who had just came in literally seconds ago predict exactly what she was going to do so easily? Chigetsu’s face lit up a color that matched her hair, from a combination of sheer embarrassment and fear. It was completely undeniable that Rini was right. What was she thinking, going to use the Water Gun Technique? This was Kirigakure government property! There was no way that Chigetsu wouldn’t get in trouble if she blew a hole right through the wall like that. She had moved without thinking properly, entirely on impulse. What if the bullet had accidentally hit someone outside? Or if it hit a load bearing pillar in the wall and collapsed the building? Or if it accidentally shattered a window from the force, and the shards of glass flew in the room and cut people up? All the different possibilities of how everything could go horribly wrong flew through her head at once.

    “Sorry! Sorry! I didn’t mean to… I d-didn’t…”

There was that, and the fact that her actions had been predicted in the first place. All she had done was point a finger at something. Chigetsu had thought that was an entirely innocous action. She hadn’t formed any hand seals at all, after all. People pointed all over the place all the time too! It shouldn’t have been something so obvious, but this girl completely predicted what Chigetsu had been about to do. How? The only way that she would have known is that she was familiar with the Hozuki Clan’s Water Gun Technique. The girl wasn’t even from the village either, being clearly from Kumogakure based on the headband around her neck. Was the Hozuki Clan that famous? Were their techniques common knowledge even in other nation? These questions would mix together with all the nervous energy that was already swirling in inside Chigetsu’s mind, and this all would be enough to nearly make the poor girl burst into tears. That, or maybe faint. Either looked equally likely. Any confidence she had built up during the process of the exam had entirely melted away.

Rini’s rant would be followed by Toshiyuki’s rant. Chigetsu was too busy trying not to cry in order to really process what he was saying. She had caught the part of where she was accused of being a proctor, which honestly didn’t make the sniffling any worse. The points about ‘Don’t Start Yet’ also sort of sunk in now. Nobody else had caught it, but she had been the one to secretly use Genjutsu: Kai, and break the genjutsu that had been affecting the room. This was definitely before they were supposed to start, since no proctor had told them to start yet, and it hadn’t even been eleven yet. Had she already disqualified herself? She was sniffing loudly at this point, with her sleeve pressed up to her face to hide her eyes. Her eyes would be rubbed at slightly. Up until a second ago she thought she knew what was happening, but now everyone was yelling at her, and she had already failed the exams. It was too much pressure.

The ceiling tiles would end up ripped from the ceiling, being thrown to the ground during the time Chigetsu was wiping at her eyes. By the time she looked at the room again everything had been changed again. Was it another genjutsu? She didn’t have the mind to really process it at the moment. It took a moment in her swirling consciousness in order to realize that the floor tile had been peeled off, and the fuuinjutsu broken. Exactly as she had originally planned to do. Well, not exactly, but close enough. Seeing that the fuuinjutsu was broken, she would collect what wits she had left in order to see the room again---

It was exactly as it had been originally.

‘I hate this. I want to go home.’ These were the thoughts that were running through Chigetsu’s head right now.

Rather than question it, she would look down at the questions on her paper again. They were the same.

She would take her pencil and begin filling out answers.

Post by Zeke Fri Jan 17, 2020 2:17 pm

As Zeke stood on the desk the tone of the room began to shift drastically. Mainly wheels and the mask spewing their own ideas out. Wheels managed to stop the pink-haired girl from shooting her shot through the wall. A bit of diplomacy in a crucial moment went a long way. Wheels did have some valid points destruction was a crude way to go about breaking the seal. There was no guarantee that it would break the seal it would cause destruction to the school, however. Granted Zeke had a much worse idea in mind before thinking about the tiles. Blowing up the ceiling was defiantly on the table in his mind. Thankfully he never voiced that thought because it would have caused a mass panic. True the tests were designed to make a genin think like a chuunin. However, Zeke was already thinking outside of the box and thinking like a leader. He may not have had the intellect of anyone in the room but his tenacity caused him to act before he could think things through clearly. His actions would be what spoke for him in these exams. So Wheel's warning about not starting the test beforehand fell on deaf ears. Accusations were made which would only cause more confusion in the long run. There was no time to play the blame game. Yet, Zeke didn't feel the need to stop the two from going on their little tangents.

Pinky was clearly in distress after the words of Wheels. He continued to shift and remove panels of the puzzle on the ceiling. With a smile, Zeke began to speak in-between the squabbles of the class. “Sorry Wheels but I can't stop now if my price to pay for taking action when no one else would is failing then so be it. I rather fail to do something than sit around doing nothing. And you are right mask, I will take matters into my own hands. You all are just along for the ride.” It would have been too late for anyone to change Zeke's mind at this point. Or stop his current actions. Piece's of the puzzle fell to the ground revealing the foundation and dismantling the seal placed on the ceiling tiles.

Zeke's smile was from ear to ear as he had taken care of this part of the test. It was too late to turn back now action had been taken. Even if the proctor was in the room, no one clearly had an idea of who they were. So they had to be grading them based on how they approached the situation at hand. If this was a mission arguing would get them nowhere. Because that is how Zeke saw this exam, one big mission to get to the next level. He had his mindset on a larger goal, seeing this to the end. No one was going to stop that thought process. Zeke looked around the room for a moment, his eyes focused on the board to see the fruit of his labor. The words on the board began to change back to normal. He hopped off the desk and made his way to the board to examine the words up close to make sure there were more signs of the seal. He reached into his back pocket, grabbing the stolen test.  He let out a sigh of relief as he got closer to the board seeing that things were back to normal. Looking around the room he noticed the pink-haired individual looked shaken to their very core. They looked as if tears were about to come streaming down their face. They started to pencil down the answers on the test that sat in front. A spirit had been broken, in the blink of an eye.

“Hey you tried to do something in a critical time Pinky. That's all that matters in the grand scheme of things. Regardless of what happens know you took action versus arguing about what is the right thing to do.”

Zeke unfolded the test he took from pop star and noticed something very troubling. The popstar's answers were still unreadable. 'What is this? Did she scribble down gibberish on her test? Or was there another seal placed specifically on the test?' Questions with no answers presented themselves. So Zeke spoke up so the entire room could hear him. “Popstar, ya you the one in the back I took this from. Why are your answers unreadable? What are you playing at? You must have copied down the answers from the board but why is your gibberish?” Maybe there was some weight to the accusation made at her earlier by the one with the mask. Maybe she, in fact, was the proctor. How this played out depended on her.

Post by Rini Sat Jan 18, 2020 1:43 am

Toshiyuki challenged her to prove herself, and she stone faced him for a moment as the events unfolded in quick succession, the seal was removed, the test revealed, and Zeke was confused about the test, with Chigetsu shakily beginning her test. A smile broke out on her face. "You got me. The plan was to remove her, yes, but as usual, people acted unpredictably in a testing environment. Everyone's got something to prove I suppose." Rini's mind was a steel trap, having instantly memorized the test's questions and answers, so she didn't even bother with filling hers out. There was something else to do.

She rolled herself out from behind her desk, beginning to move to the front of the room. If these Genin didn't want to play ball and help her out, then she'd do things her own way. Honestly, she was beating herself up a little for thinking she had to work with them. A simple request. 'Bring me to the one who said to start'. Not a single person took her up on it. Even one had the audacity to talk back and fight against her help for some reason. If that's how they wanted to be, then she wouldn't be a team player anymore. She would have just read the Pop Star's mind and figured out if she was the proctor or not, and whether the test was on, and they all could have advanced forward with that information, but instead it would come to this.

That's what she got for trying, but oh well. It gave some interesting insight into each of these people's characteristics, and how they'd react during the exams. Some of them would definitely be problematic, and some of them were not quite cut out for the Chuunin life just yet. Well, honestly, perhaps none of them were. Too immature.

"Congratulations on solving the seal puzzle properly. As you might have guessed, it was meant to prevent people from cheating. Now, if you think about this logically, the puzzle this entire time has been that you need to wait, watch, analyze, and gather information discreetly before rushing into everything. That much is completely true. Information gathering is incredibly important as a shinobi." Rini said, after clearing her throat. She spun her wheel chair to face the group.

"The written test isn't hard, because that wasn't really the point of it. The test in front of you is just a placebo. And part of the test has been solving my genjutsu and solving the fuuinjutsu as well." Rini said, pushing her glasses up on her face. "Of course, I entered the room after someone popped my genjutsu, because I wanted to see whether someone would sell out who did it, while gathering information of my own. And I have to admit, you lot are... interesting."

"So yes, congratulations. You solved the test as it was presented to you. But you missed the real test, because you didn't stop to consider the information given to you. You knew that the proctor was likely watching you, and just blatantly ignored the rules instead of ferreting me out." Rini pointed to the board. "The genjutsu was to catch cheaters as much as the fuuinjutsu was. Anything written during the genjutsu got scrambled because of the seal. I only came into the room because somebody got rid of the genjutsu, so I needed eyes in here. From there, I could see anyone who had began the test and failed to heed the rules, while getting you to figure out who the real proctor was."

Her eyes shifted from Chigetsu, to Zeke, to Toshiyuki, to anyone else who had written things down, and finally settled on the Pop Star. There was little doubt in her mind at this point. Given the information she had, the Pop Star was either the proctor, or she had failed already, so it didn't matter. Either way, Rini knew that she'd have made her impression on the real proctor at this point. Rini's entire explanation was to show she had understood the testing process, as well as convincingly sell that she was, in fact, the proctor.

"I was going to drop the genjutsu and begin the test with another genjutsu without revealing myself, which would have been just figure out how to disable the seal, and finish the written exam, but you all did that already. So, with that said... I never said to start." Rini pointed to Zeke, Chigetsu, and the Pop Star (and whoever else may have started writing). "You all fail, you can leave now. Everyone else, go ahead and start the test. Turn it in by the end of the hour and leave. I hope everyone's learned something. Follow the rules of the mission. That's your job as a shinobi. Doesn't matter how easy the mission is. You never know who is watching, and you always have to gather information." She'd have loved to get Toshiyuki on something, but he was, in the end, only obnoxious, and hadn't actually done anything fail worthy. He hadn't attempted to start the test. But that was good. He seemed to be smart, and she liked the competition. It would be a shame to lose to him here.

Besides, he seemed like the type who could probably figure out if she was lying or not, and by not calling him out, he was more likely to not look into the matter as much. And if he wasn't called out to fail, he likely wouldn't say anything about his suspicions on her, as Rini was eliminating further competition for him as well, which benefited the two of them. All in all, it was in her best interests to not try to push her luck and fail Toshiyuki for something, or she might not succeed in getting anyone to fail. And she could fail everyone either. She couldn't get greedy. The more risky the play, the less likely it was to work. This had to be convincing to work.

The thing was, this ploy was two fold. The real proctor could play along, or they could reveal themselves. It was funny, this was a test for them, but Rini had turned it into a test for the proctor as well. But this way, Rini would be eliminating some of her competition in the process. If they failed now, she wouldn't have to worry about them during the later rounds, when she was sure they'd probably shine more. Rini's physicality was poor, so she had to think of ways to eliminate threats before they were threats. This was more risk free.

If the test had actually started, Rini would be able to fill hers out at any point throughout the hour, which she was more than comfortable waiting the time down to the last minute, whereas if it hadn't, then she could get every single other person in the room to fail out by writing down their responses before the proctor could say to begin. She took the safe route and err'ed on the side that the test hadn't started yet, and that the ones who would surely fail based on that hypothesis were Chigetsu, Zeke, and the Pop Star girl, (as well as anyone else who had begun testing) had already failed, and she was just clearing the room in that case.

Still, Rini was almost positive that the real proctor was the Pop Star. This was almost assuredly a test of resolve, and Rini was playing along nicely enough. She wouldn't fail. She couldn't fail. Not here. And hopefully her showing of intellect here was impressive enough that even if she got it wrong so far, she'd pass on ahead anyhow. Intelligence wise, there was no denying that Rini was far beyond Chuunin Level. Then again, Rini hadnt entered to test her intelligence on something this simple. She'd entered to see how far she could push herself with raw intellect. How it would apply in combat in as much of a controlled environment as she could make.

Whether she was a chuunin or not didn't really matter to her. The entire Chuunin Exams was a joke to her in the first place. She just wanted the combat to test her mind against other people's brute force while guarantee'ing she'd be more or less okay in the end. Real combat didn't have medics on standby to prevent death in cases of accidents, and Rini needed that sense of control while still in a real scenario.

Post by Toshiyuki Sun Jan 19, 2020 11:41 pm

As the chair bound genin expertly countered Toshiyuki's plays, he couldn't uppress the feeling of elation that traveled through is nervous system like lightning. His palms became sweaty, his mouth began to feel dry, and he could feel his blood moving through his body. Not only did she manage to meet him on this battlefield the positioning of her play managed to simultaneously target the other genin in the room. All the while she kept a completely stone cold face, and she put up the facade of being absolutely unphased by him. All the while the blonde, unfairly blessed genin showed wit and resolve that made him regret not taking him for a serious contender just because he didn't take an action that Toshi had considered 'correct' at first. He'd take a note from his book and fold up his test, putting it in his inside breast pocket on the side of his broken arm. As the fuuinjutsu around them dispelled, their disabled 'proctor' friend took that in stride effortlessly blending it into the score that Toshiyuki had helped her compose not missing a single beat. The ruthlessness with which the handicapped genin wielded her tongue and her wit preying on those around her, those she looked down on only further riled up Toshiyuki. His eyes would shift, subconsciously betraying his guilt, to the other kiri genin in the room he'd helped wield the blade that'd been used to stab at her confidence.

He knew had to be careful here. When you visualize begun to visualize the final moves of the game in your head, it was easy to be blindsided in the here and now, but he just couldn't help himself. Restraining the smile on his face to a grin he'd silently pray to whatever might be listening that the pieces he'd put together weren't some apophenic illusion he'd conjured, and take his steps towards the endgame. He'd start at a whisper making strong eye contact with the 'proctor'-genin leaving his desk at the back of the classroom and slowly approaching her."You all fail, you can leave now. Everyone else, go ahead and start the test. Turn it in by the end of the hour and leave. I hope everyone's learned something. Follow the rules of the mission. That's your job as a shinobi. Doesn't matter how easy the mission is. You never know who is watching, and you always have to gather information." By the time he finished his voice would have risen with his rich baritone voice competing for attention with Rini's. "You're amazing, but you probably know that already Ms. Proctor. You probably won't even be phased by my simple gimmick either." If this parlor trick wasn't enough to snap the ninja with the kiri headband around her neck back. In the case that she still tried to walk out thinking she'd failed, his pointer finger on his good arm would snap at her in the finger pistol position and he'd shout, "Wait. Please let me finish."

As he reached her desk, he would continue speaking, "You're right, you simply must be the real proctor," His grin would turn to a shit-eating, devious smirk. "but I guess that means you won't being needing this then, will you?" Toshiyuki would attempt to quickly steal the handicap genin's test with his good hand, willing to go so far as to attempt to rip it from her hands. Once he had it, if she attempted to snatch it back he wouldn't resist though, if not he'd simply pocket it in his kunai pouch. He'd speak back up once more, assuming he was able to, "You must look at each situation with clarity and precision, seeing each component as separate, and piercing all the way through so as to perceive the most fundamental reality of that thing. That's what we learned right here in this academy, right pinkette?" Toshi would change his focus to Chigetsu, turning his body slightly away from Rini, as he spoke looking for affirmation from the member of his village he'd betrayed by getting too caught up in himself. In a sense he was referring to this specific situation, but he was also subtly pointing to her test with the broken arm encased in the cast. If she had really failed why not at least attempt to finish the test to its fullest. What would she have to lose? And was it really even worth paying any mind to an arrogant degenerate who wasn't even wearing shoes?

Class #244 Empty Re: Class #244

Post by Hua Li Mon Jan 20, 2020 2:07 pm

The sound of chaos and desperation erupted. Rini was playing her trump card 'Glass Girl no Jutsu', starting a waterfall of words as she took on the role of... N-Nani?! Proctor-chan?! The sheer sudden revelation, after she had mentally broken Chigetsu and forced her into shut-down, was a move that put the whole class upside down. Some genin acted wisely, as if they had known all this time that Rini had been the proctor, but there were some who blanched or looked suspiciously at the girl in the wheel chair. Not everyone was entirely convinced, but the general state of the class left little other options to wager than accepting that, indeed, Rini was the proctor.

As thoughts ran through the pop star girl's head, wondering what this all meant, she was approached by Zeke all the while. He held up her exam, confronting her with the fact that he still couldn't read her answers despite the Seal having been removed. Not surprisingly to her, of course, as she had written down her answers in a cryptic form already. Even if she was an attention seeker, this little pop star wasn't necessarily an idiot. Sure, she couldn't compete with the mental aptitude of Rini but that girl was just a category all of her own. She didn't count when comparing to the average intelligence present in class. Still, she owed that guy an answer.

"That's because it's written in Demon Script.", she revealed simply, rather than playing coy and going with something akin to 'a girl can have her secrets'. Knowing that her answers were written in a different language, he'd might realise the clue to a common element between the script of her answer and that of the Seal - yes, both possessed some of the same symbols. Meaning that pop star was either the one who had placed that Seal on the ceiling or was somehow involved or related to it. She was, after all, from Kumogakure. A trait she shared with today's proctor.

But that being said, the pop star felt the pressure staple itself against her. She could talk herself out of the cryptic answers easily by stating she was the student of the proctor - or something in those lines - but being failed at this exam meant she'd have to leave class. Even if she'd stall that eventuality, suspicions about her would gradually rise. Those she had attempted to keep close enough so as to have their perception run along hers rather than against hers would swiftly turn their head. All eyes would be on her, and not in the best of ways.

    [POOF!]

A puff of smoke surrounded pop star. Where once a vibrant, open personality had stood, the disappearing cloud now revealed the eldritch presence of the yokai. A pale visage promising no good looked straight into the eyes of Zeke. A pair of deep red horns, a glint of natural cunning, a malefic grin, the markings of war. The stylish clothes of the girl had been replaced with a black metallic chest armour depicting the atrocities demons inflicted upon humanity. Her shorts were replaced with a pair of cotton pants bearing markings of rust, coal and the prickling scent of burned metal. The only thing the pop star and the yokai had in common was a jade pendant. If all of this was not sufficient a clue of who she was, then what did those genin need to understand they were standing close to their superior in rank?

"One should know when running is no longer an option.", she spoke calmly, hinting that there were too many odds against her to maintain her masquerade. She'd flash Zeke a wry smile before making her way to the front of the class. Eyes would catch the glances of genin as they tried to understand what had transpired, and once she had taken her position in class she'd talk once again.

"It seems many of you have a lot to learn. Too many are simply trying whichever comes to mind, rather than to think ahead as a chuunin. It seems to me few will pass this test.", she began ominously. "It may come as no surprise that the test was not the questions and answers. Those who still believe it is, please leave this class now as you have already failed."

"Neither was the point in following the rules. No rule on the board stated that you were forbidden from cheating, after all. A chuunin knows that responsibility and duty may require of them to break the norm. Following your wit, your instinct, your intuition. Sometimes the only correct answer is to do what must be done rather than what is expected to be done.", she left her words hanging, watching how some of them drooped their heads already. "But I will not fail you for that, for at this point you are still genin. Neither will I fail those who did go ahead."

"As a chuunin, it is paramount you gather as much information as possible. The outcome of a mission may depend heavily on accurate information. Those who had paid attention would have found my registry on the genin board. They would have known me to be of Kumogakure, liking jade. Those who would have asked my name would have been told it was 'Suzume', meaning sparrow. Birds too was a keyword in my likes. In other words, the prepared and perceptive would have recognised me without a word. Nami, consider yourself having passed this test."

One of the genin would rise up and bow in acknowledgement. It wasn't her first run in the show, which gave her an edge in comparison to many other participants, but it seemed she had learned quite a lot. At least sufficient to ace this test as others remained hesitant.

"A chuunin who acts haphazardly is a danger to himself and any team they join. You should know better than that as a shinobi, no matter your rank. While some believe luck is as much a skill as anything else, I'm not of a mind that a chuunin should rely on lack to succeed in their mission. It is unreliable, to say the least. A chuunin should know their own limits. If needed, you'll step away from a mission and leave it to those you believe better suited. In this case, you should have sought the aide of others. Ally yourself, strike a deal or steal the solution from another. To know your limits is to know your chance of success. I'm sorry, but Baraka, Sin and Chigetsu... You will not be passing this test today. "

It seemed 'shit got real'. If chaos had held the upper hand at first, it was but the introduction of something worse. Like rushing into a trap, only to discover the enemy was far too powerful. Retreat was no longer an option; the jounin was separating the chaff from the wheat at this point.

"Zeke... Your actions eventually lead you to a road to which you would have found more answers than most. Stealing the test, flushing out an enemy through confrontation. I see potential in you, so I'm sure to see you in the next round."

Her eyes would eventually come to rest upon Rini. Hua Li didn't believe it had been all skill about the girl, but there was something about the chosen words, the play on the mental fortitude and the attempted means of getting rid of her opponents that revealed a strategic mind.

"Rini. In many ways, you look like the sort of genin who would never make it past petty tests, but your mental aptitude easily fools others who misjudge you. There is no point in failing you for this test... I believe your true test will be in the next round, where you'll need more than mental tricks. Good luck."

The amount of unjudged students was lowering. But the test was not over just yet. The clock revealed a little less than a quarter still, and all answers were pretty much available. It was a matter of a minute to fill everything in. Then, a wicked smile slowly crept upon her face.

"As for the rest... I can't say you have failed just yet. You proved to be sufficiently capable of holding ground, but you have yet to impress me. I suppose you didn't fail, but you have not passed either. Unfortunately, since I have no intention of allowing you to start, I suppose that eventually time will run out for you if you can't come up with a solution. Too bad, I guess."

Stuck in limbo. Well, perhaps those with good memory might find a way out. Others might have to be more creative about things. In any case, the jounin had spoken her piece and stood against the black board with arms crossed. Defiantly watching what they all would do now.

Would they come to realise her last deception...?

OOC: Feel free to stay and rack experience.
Also... Don't lose sight of the true test Wink

This matters too much to me.

The pencil trembled in Chigetsu’s hand. Her handwriting had deteriorated severely through the course of writing, in an obvious reflection of her mental state. The neat and tight handwritten characters devolved eventually into the sloppy mess that it was at the end. It was still legible, but it almost resembles something that a child would have written. Her hand had started shaking. It was hard to pinpoint exactly when she had started trembling. Things felt like they were happening too fast. Chigetsu couldn’t keep up. Glancing down at it, a small wet spot in the paper would appear around the center. With her eyes so teary she couldn’t even read what she had just written. Tears streamed down her face freely now. There wasn’t any point in holding it back. She had been too shocked initially, when Rini had been acting as the proctor, to respond. It hadn’t sunk in. Rini’s rant would progress into the next, by Toshi, and it would only be when he had finished when Chigetsu’s heart would really drop. Just in time for the real proctor to reveal herself. Just in time to be told that she had failed a second time. It was just about then, as Hua Li announced Chigetsu’s failure, that she had pencilled in the final question. Too little too late. Apparently, this all had been for nothing.

All the practice she had been doing. All the missions she had done, both on her own and with Calis. The training with Hana. The talk with her mother. She had done all of that just to come here and fail in the first room, and to cry in front of everyone. Chigetsu felt like she was about to throw up. Everything had been fine at first. She had even been the first one to realize that they were in a genjutsu, and had been the one to break it in secret. She had come up with a plan of action that involved flushing out the proctor, and had almost gone and destroyed the seal too and done all the work by herself. Everything had fallen apart when that girl in the wheelchair started speaking. Chigetsu couldn’t turn to look at her now, with her eyes dark, dull, and leaking while staring down at her test. But she could imagine the girl’s face in her mind, and her voice. Her name was Rini, apparently. Everything that had gone wrong for Chigetsu started when she first came in. Telling her the test hadn’t started yet to stop her from firing the water bullet. Confusing her with that long rant about how Chunin would think. Then pretending to be the proctor. Thinking about it now, and imagining her voice, filled Chigetsu with this bitter feeling. She could taste it welling up in her. A dark and dirty disgusting goop that sank down to the bottom of her stomach, and then reached up into her mouth and mind.

"So, sword techniques and taijutsu techniques. That’s going to be an interesting skillset with your body, you’re immune to physical damage after all." Calis would say with a pensive look. “I’d have to capture you handidly, or put you into a situation that you can’t get out of.” He would say, continuing to think.

“Are you thinking about how to beat me up?" She would frown now, shooting Calis something of a stink eye. “Stop that. That’s really gross and weird. Thinking about how to beat up or kill me when we’re standing right next to each other…” She would puff out her cheeks in a somewhat childish pout.

“Are you telling me you haven’t started to at least try to figure out how to handle some of the individuals you might be fighting in the exams? Pre preparation is something they look for too I would imagine.” He would say, a shrug emphasizing his statement.

"No? I don’t think about how to kill my friends. That would be…” She would go quiet after a few seconds, not wanting to continue that line of thought.

“I don’t know.” She would bring her hands up from the pocket of her hoodie, crossing them loosely over her midsection. “I’m only doing this because people keep on telling me I should… I don’t really think I care about winning too much, I just don’t want to disappoint anyone.”

“When it comes to being a shinobi you can’t afford to do it because it’s expected. It’s life or death out there Chigetsu. If that’s not for you, then you should probably try to find another line or work. I don’t say that to be mean. I’m saying that because if you don’t, you’ll end up giving your life away because ‘others told you to’ and that’s just not worth it.”

Why am I even doing this?

She would clutch hard at her pencil. This all mattered too much to her, despite everything she had said in the past. The wood would strain for a moment under her grip, bending slightly as it approached its breaking point. It wouldn’t get there, as Chigetsu would release the tightness in her grip before that. Everything that Calis had been saying about the exams before flashed back to her. That disgusting taste was still in her mouth. Bitter. She had been stupid. These people weren’t her friends. She had been stupid not to expect competition from the beginning. Her test, marked by two tear stains now, would be placed into the interior of her desk.

Channeling that bitterness, Chigetsu would throw the pencil.

She had taken a glance at the room beforehand, but it wasn’t necessary. She was familiar with the academy from the time she spent here playing hide and seek with students, all of them using the transformation technique. Chigetsu was more than familiar with the layout of the building, and all of its rooms. As annoying as it was doing that mission, somehow it managed to pay off in the end. The pencil would be thrown like a twister, and it would quickly strike into the first of the four sprinklers in the classroom. The impact would be more than enough to immediately break the glass bulb on the inside of the sprinkler, setting it off. The pencil would ricochet off and continue on its arc around the room. There had been four sprinklers to cover the entirety of the classroom in case of fire, and with Chigetsu’s initial throw of the pencil she had managed to arc it in such a way that it would collide into all four of them, breaking each bulb in the process, before returning to her hand like a boomerang. As soon as she caught the thrown pencil Chigetsu would place it calmly back down on the desk.

Meanwhile, all four sprinklers would be set off. The classroom would become absolutely soaked as the system would spray water absolutely everywhere. Because the sprinklers were placed specifically to put out fires, every square footage of the room would be covered in their area, with some overlapping. There wouldn’t be anywhere to hide, in other words.

“No. That’s wrong.” It was now that the quiet, demure Hozuki chose to speak up. With the sprinklers going off like this, nobody would be able to tell that she was crying. Her voice now though was a tone deeper, reducing like that as her emotional state wavered. She was desperate now, more than anything. This meant too much to her. "There’d be no reason to ask others for help. We’re in the Chunin Exams. This is a competition.” She would take a small glance around the room. Rini. Toshi. Zeke. “None of these people are my friends or allies. I don’t know them. Anyone I ask for help with could stab me in the back. Anyone I help would result in more competition for the finalist spot later. There’s nobody here that I can trust.” She would take this as a moment to point at the proctor, to emphasize her point as the rain came down. “That’s why you transformed into a student and hid among us, wasn't it? So that we would be suspicious of each other. And this entire time... Everyone has spent more time trying to sabotage others than passing themselves. I was the one who broke the genjutsu, and I would have been the one to break the seal too. It was listening to other people here that stopped me, and made everything go wrong. Treating these people like allies... That would just be stupid.” Chigetsu shook her head. She would bitter. It was laced onto every word now, even with the tears fresh on her voice.

The sprinklers would sputter to a stop. Being set off through an impact like this made it obvious that the room wasn’t actually on fire. Someone who was in charge of the system must have blown the automatic stop switch. Either that, or they had run out of water. Considering the sheer amount of water they had sprayed down in that time, which had only been maybe two or three minutes, it could have been either one. Chigetsu would stand up. She would take her test out of the desk. It was dry, save for two stains from teardrops. Very likely it would be the dryest test in the room.

“This matters to me too much to fail here. The stakes are too high. I don't know what the Chunin Exams mean to anyone else, but... It means more than just another rank to me.” She swallowed. Her cheeks were still red, and while the tears had stopped, it was still clear as day from the state of her eyes that she had been crying. It was hard to admit, especially with how much she told people she didn’t want to do this, or that she didn’t care before. Having failure shoved in her face so fast made her come to terms with reality quickly.

    “I want to win.”

She would pause, and then correct herself.

    “I’m going to win.”

Walking forward, she would approach the likely soaked Hua Li. Her legs were trembling with each step. Maybe it was obvious, but even as Chigetsu steeled herself as much as she could, there wasn’t anything she could do it stop it. The entire walk forward, she would keep her grip tight, and her eyes to her sides. If there was one thing that Chigetsu had, it was sharp reflexes. If anything dared to try and steal the test from her now they would find themselves with a bullet in the stomach.

Her test would be provided, handed over to Hua Li. Even though she had said the test wasn’t about questions and answers, and that anyone who believed it had been would fail… This was Chigetsu’s only option. She was so desperate. Chigetsu already had been told she had failed twice, anyway. Would it matter if Hua Li told her that she failed a third time? The answer was definitely yes, and that Chigetsu’s last desperate burst of confidence being slapped aside would shatter her heart, but she didn’t want to think about that right now. It took all of her willpower to just do this.

“Nobody else will be able to hand in their tests now. If this really is a written exam… A real written exam…” Her voice would falter, cracking awkwardly on that last word. She would continue anyway. “I’ll be the only one to pass.”

Post by Zeke Mon Jan 20, 2020 6:25 pm

Things got interesting really quick. Wheels spoke up and began to monologue as if she was, in fact, the proctor. Her intellect was shown in the way she carried herself. His brain clearly made up for her inability to walk. She seemed to know everything that unfurled in the room. The question still rang in Zeke's mind was she really the proctor. Sure the anti-cheat measures were no doubt in place but Zeke wasn't even aware of the Genjutsu in the room. It was broken by someone in the room very discretely before it could completely take place. She said something very alarming, however, everyone failed in the room. It was true there was no start given to everyone yet, Zeke still questioned if she was really the proctor. 'I am not quite sure but my gut says otherwise.' he thought to himself while holding the test up in front of the room. He was still waiting for an answer from the pop star while Wheels spoke her mind.

He had no intention of leaving on just the word of Wheels alone. This exam was far too interesting for it to stop. 'Clearly they reached a point where it should have ended, but let's keep going and see where this all laid out.' Zeke was scanning the room to see what was unfolding around the room. The reactions to this girl's words and who would speak out against it. The kid in the mask spoke up in the midst of everything which caused Zeke to look over in his general direction. Zeke lowered the test and began to move towards an empty desk in front of the room where a blank test rested. The kid in the mask made an attempt on the test of wheels. Jabbing at the fact if she really was the proctor that she wouldn't need her test. Which if she, in fact, was the proctor, she wouldn't need it.

Then something was said at the back of the room that made Zeke turn around. “Demon script?” He replied in a calm manner while looking at the stolen test. Zeke had a moment where his brain ticked and placed the two together. The seal on the ceiling shared some of the same symbols. No one else, of course, would have known this because of it being in Zeke's hand. No one else was close enough to read it. Even if Wheels made some compelling points she wouldn't have seen the similarities in the test and the seal. Zeke was close enough to the seal as he was the one who dismantled it on the ceiling.

“Popstar is the proctor.” He said in a hushed tone. She had to be the proctor due to clear reasons. She had to have placed the seal on the ceiling and used the genjutsu in the room. It was made clear quickly after when a puff of smoke erupted suddenly came a demonic, feminine figure.  All he could do was reveal a defiant smile on his face in response to the demon pop star's grin. She made her way to the front of the class and began to speak. Everything Wheels had said was thrown out the window at that very moment. Zeke was scanning the room quickly to see facial expressions and responses in the room. To make sure he wasn't the only one seeing this whole thing unfurl. To Zeke, the real proctor would have revealed themselves. To others, there would be two supposed proctors in the room.

Her words came through clear as day as what was expected of a chuunin. Some of the genin responded to her words one, in particular, stood up and bowed. She did say three of the genin in the room failed which was a shame for them. The tone of the room became more chaotic as she spoke. Then she spoke directly to Zeke which made him pay attention once more as he stood in front of an empty desk with the test present. It did make his heart flutter with excitement but her words weren't a clear pass. Saying there was still one more obstacle to be passed. He had not actually filled out a test yet. He folded the stolen test back up and placed it in his front pocket. Thankfully he had eyes on the board a long enough time, while the commotion was going on he had been memorizing the answers on the board. They were simple and to the point. It didn't take much to have them in the back of his head.

Chigetsu threw her pencil across the room out of frustration which made Zeke pay attention to it closely for a moment as the proctor finished her little speech. She had no intention of saying start so the question was how was he gonna put the answers to paper when she is in front of the class like this? 'That pencil is moving kind of oddly....shit.' He said in his mind as the pencil hit the sprinklers with such accuracy. All four corners of the room. Zeke grabbed the test and pencil then ducked under the desk with his top half undercover. The sprinklers went off in the room no doubt drenching everything and everyone around.

Zeke's top half would be dry for a few moments while water splashed down all around him. He took the blank test and began to fill it out on the floor. Hopefully, the proctor was preoccupied with whatever was going on up above for just long enough to fill out the test. Chigetsu making her way to the front of the room while speaking up. Zeke's handwriting would be sloppy but readable with how fast he was writing down the answers onto the paper. The water was splashing everywhere and getting onto the test. So he wrote even faster. This only occurred if the initial action of the pencil throw had not been stopped.

Post by Rini Wed Jan 22, 2020 5:08 am

As Rini had left her desk to go to the front of the room, she took her test with her, knowing something might happen and she'd need to have one in the end, in case someone tried to steal the tests in the room or in case someone tried to mess with the tests and destroy them. Even though the test wasn't something she thought really needed filled out it was easier to have it just in case. She honestly was just going to steal whoever's test she wanted to and replace the name with her own on her way out. The written portion of this test was such a joke, it couldn't possibly be the real test, but she had to cover her bases at least.

While she went through her monologue, she used the test as a reference guide when she mentioned it during the monologue, to give herself a reason for having it in the first place without seeming too suspicious.

Everything went pretty much as Rini had expected, something she wasn't really surprised with. Her pretending to be the proctor had gained quite a deal of attention, with someone even speaking over her while she herself was finished speaking. Trying to show her up on her intelligence. Rini had been correct in her assumption of Toshiyuki, he was quite intelligent, and saw through her little play, offering her a chance to prove herself by not needing the test.

She would have let him take it, but the situation changed as she had seen the Pop Star drop the transformation, and Rini crumpled her test up before Toshi could steal it from her and shoved it into her bra, before zipping her hoodie up to give it extra protection from thievery. He'd have to physically pry it from her in order to steal it from her if he was so inclined, and Rini had a sense about him that he was pretty awkward, like her. He put on a show, but that's all it was, same for Rini. Grabbing a girl in a room full of people wasn't likely to happen.

There was no longer a reason to pretend to be the proctor anymore though, as the proctor had actually revealed herself. Rini had been suspicious of the pop star for a while. "Knew it." Pushing her glasses back up on her nose again, Rini's attention was partially drawn there, but she kept an eye on Toshi for any fuzzy business he might attempt.

The proctor's name dropping was a sure bet that she was in fact the proctor, as only she would know the names of everyone in the room. She confirmed that the written test was never the test, and anyone who thought it was should leave the room. Nami passed the test, and Sin, Baraka, and Chigetsu failed. Zeke was mentioned, but she didn't say he passed, just that she was sure to see him in the next round, since he had potential. However, he was singled out, so it was likely he would pass. Rini herself was then mentioned, and that while she didn't seem like the type who would pass, she'd proven her mental skills to be quite sufficient, so failing her would be pointless, her true test being in the next round.

Rini frowned. Again, not a full confirmation. Enough ambiguity, and Rini's mind immediately picked up on the nuances. The room had only two rules. Don't begin until the proctor said so. And complete all 10 questions. Box number 1 was fulfilled, the proctor had been confirmed to have earlier said to begin. But the 10 questions still needed to be completed otherwise it was only half finished. Her frown turned into a grin. She understood. Just because she'd passed didn't mean she didn't have to finish the test. Marks and all that. Or Hua Li could still change her mind.

That said, Rini wasn't surprised that she'd be passing. The test was a mind fuck for sure, but all the clues were there if someone was looking for it. The genin had already concluded that from the very beginning, and that's what she'd explained too. Information was always around, if you paid attention to things.

And then it happened. Chigetsu snapped, the prospect of losing having finally pushed her over the edge. Rini had seen it coming for a while. It was why she had chose to fail Chigetsu earlier. It's probably why Hua Li had actually failed her too. As she was, Chigetsu wasn't Chuunin material. Setbacks worse than this would happen, and if she was nearly crying just because of a test, then if it was a life or death situation, she'd be screwed. Worse, her teammates could be screwed. And yet, when backed into a corner, the truth of her character was revealed.

Chigetsu wasn't going to give up.

It was the look around before hand that clued Rini into Chigetsu's mindset. The pinkette had eyed up the sprinklers, and Rini knew what was coming. The girl was going to focus on the 2nd portion of the rules. Boomeranging her pencil so fast that Rini couldn't even see the initial throw, only the path of the pencil. Rini didn't really care, her test was safe in her bra, behind her shirt, and under a hoodie. Maybe it would get damp, but not ruined. She could fill it out later. She was just mostly mad that she'd get wet. The girl really needed to work on installing an umbrella into her wheelchair.

Rini began to roll her chair over to the door, a scowl on her face as the water was starting to soak her annoyingly. It was a good thing her hoodie was incredibly thick, because she liked to stay warm and comfy, it took a lot of water to drench through it, but still, her wheelchair was soaked, her shoes were wet, her hair was drenched, and she was sitting in a growing puddle of water. Rini hated that. Her glasses were blocked by the water drops, and she couldn't see very well.

As water poured down, Chigetsu claimed the genjutsu breaking was her, and that she would have broken the seal, that much was true. But it seemed to her that Chigetsu's way of doing things wasn't quite.... deft. Shooting a seal, setting off a wide spray of water, there was a lack of subtlety to Chigetsu that lent Rini to believe she was a block headed girl who didn't think before she acted.

Sliding the door open, Rini grabbed the doorframe and pulled herself and the chair through outside, closing the door behind her, and rolled toward the wall, water dripping down her body and chair as it emptied out of the seat back. Pulling out a pencil, Rini sucked the water off the tip to get the water off the graphite, and pulled out her test, using the wall as a desk. Having memorized the answers, not that she even needed to in the first place, she filled it out fast, and then crumpled the test back up and shoved it back into her  bra, but attached chakra strings to it while she did so, just in case.

Taking off her jacket, Rini tossed it on the ground, seriously pissed with how wet it was. Now she was getting cold. She reopened the door, and pulled herself back into the room, grumbling, as the sprinkler had turned off at this point. Rolling down the aisles to get to Chigetsu, Rini attempted to run into her. "Hey." Rini rolled back and rolled forward again to bump into Chi. "You got me wet. Carry me down the stairs when we leave." The ginger glared up at Chigetsu defiantly, sticking out her tongue somewhat immaturely.

Her expression softened though, as she shifted. "Don't even bother turning it in. Rules were complete the 10 questions. You did that at least. Me too." She reached into her bra and pulled out the test a final time and opened it up, flashing it at the proctor, showing the filled out test with her name at the top of it. Then she crumpled it back up and tossed it to Hua Li, reaching around Chigetsu to do so, chakra strings ready to shift it in case Chi tried to grab it out of the air. "Filling out the test isn't that important though. It's part of it, but you gotta prove yourself as well. Information gathering's more important. As long as you know it, you can write it whenever, so retention's pretty important, and destroying other people's information's also important. Turns out you're not just a pretty face. I misjudged you, Pink."

Rini turned her attention to the proctor. "You're Hua Li, aren't you? I know most of the Jounin from Kumo by name and accomplishments. Please pass Chigetsu. I think she'll really shine later on, given the opportunity. Girl's wicked fast, I didn't even see her throw the pencil. It'll be so much better for me when I take her down in the combat portions." After that, Rini began to wring her hair out, most of the water just running down her shirt and onto her shorts and legs. It was pointless, but Rini just wanted to be dry. "Dry me off please..." she muttered. She was going to be drenched for ages. "Or get me a change of clothes? I'm not from here..."

Chigetsu probably lived closer to here than where Rini and the Kumo-nin were all staying. She was taller than Rini, but clothes fit fine if they were too big, just not if they were too small, and Rini wore baggy clothes often enough. They were comfier.

It was slight, but a wave of relief would pour out of Toshiyuki. He'd been so deeply terrified that he'd been wrong that he'd been misplaying this match he was having. As the Jonin began to reprimand, reproach, and -in Zeke and Suzume's cases- approve the actions that had been taken so far. Toshi wasn't surprised he hadn't been mentioned. It was his normal to be a background influencer, not really being in the limelight. His gambit wasn't really worth it in the end though, and he did look a bit bashful at the arrogant way he'd approached this test. That wasn't to say that Toshiyuki wasn't paying attention to the proctor anymore. He caught the nuances of her statement same as he imagined everyone else did. In the end the premise of this test was simple, and there was no reason for the genin to assume otherwise. Complete all 10 questions since the proctor had given them the go ahead to get started. Hua Li's face was one that he recognized. He wouldn't continue to Rini's test, seeing as how there was no imperative to get her to admit she was not the proctor after Hua Li kinda ruined his game.

The pinkette, Chigetsu, was still crying at her desk, and Toshi had to admit to himself that part of it was his fault as he done a great disservice to all the genin in the room wearing Mist headbands. He was trying to stay under the radar though, so he was doing what he had to, right? It was apparent that pink haired mist genin would disagree. He turned just to see the collateral damage he'd help cause as he saw her begin to crush her pencil, its wood straining to maintain its integrity. He'd stop in place not even making it to the front row since Rini had already taken her test. If she snapped here, Toshi wasn't sure if he'd be willing or able to defend himself. The smile that'd been slowly forming on his face quickly drained as the flustered ninja threw her pencil towards the ceiling hitting the first sprinkler. Every Ryuutei instinct in his body just screamed 'Nope' as he'd jump backwards away from the sprinkler and towards the windowed wall. His feet would find purchase where there wasn't any revealing bare feet that clung to the beige walls of the room Putting most of him above the sprinkler's wide area of affect.

Toshi already slightly wet from the initial release of pressure would have moments to react to stay dry and out of the water as three more sprinklers exploded to life as the little red glass vials burst. Toshi's upward movement wouldn't stop though. His left hand, the one that wasn't broken, would reach above him and he'd use that as his point of leverage as he'd jump upwards, flipping upside down kicking a ceiling tile, and moving into the crawl space above the classroom. Anyone who could see him, could tell he was very displeased, and his guilt was washed away replaced with annoyance and a hint of disappointment. His test! The ninja now standing on the wall above the effective range of the sprinklers would reach into the inner right breast pocket of his coat pulling out his test. He'd look down at the wet room below where there were pencils, but also water, back to his exam and then back down. He'd quickly decide to stow his exam and wait for the water to stop.

As the water stopped, and the genin would hop down onto the ground beneath him. His back was pretty wet, and his pants from the thighs down were absolutely soaked. He'd grab a pencil from the ground that's been pushed of a nearby vacant desk, staring daggers at the Hozuki as he did so before retreating back up into the crawl space and finishing his test. He'd remain mostly silent for any following exchanges. Filling out what seemed to him to be a simple basic knowledge test with questions that could easily be likened in difficulty to questions like what country is Kumogakure in or who is your standing kage. He only speak up briefly when the name Hua Li was mentioned. "Yup. The Demon Smith of the Hidden Cloud. " He was more agreeing with than confirming Rini's suspicions. "Unreadable answers." He'd repeated Zeke's words simply as he finished the test. On an empty corner he'd write in quotes, 'I say we start already.' He'd fold the test back up putting it back in the inner breast pocket of his jacket. He'd land back on the ground and approach Hua Li's desk to give her his exam. If she accepted it, he'd simple stay and watch how things unfolded. A real Ryuutei would have just dried himself off.

Toshiyuki would click his tongue. "How annoying."
