"Long time no see old friend."
How long had it been since you had witnessed this lovely rock on the fields of the first grounds? He didn't know, and honestly he didn't want to know. But Cumference was looking mighty powerful today I'll be a bit chipped, but he could accept that. No, today he was going to do something that he really needed to do: jutsu practice.
It was pretty clear to him up what needed to be practice first: Some customers techniques that he had worked on over the several months of studying. Specifically the false trio of genjutsu he'd been working on. Starting off with the simplest of the three, the Petty False Illusion, unlike normal practice the kid managed to procure an assistant in the form of a technical relative. Still, no matter their familial bond the poor sap had agreed to be his test dummy today. Sending out the most basic of the three, his cousin was confused expecting to feel some sort of Illusion take hold, but there was nothing, but broke the Jutsu just in case. Even just the short time of testing out the weakest version of the false Illusions show that there was some promise in the idea, and Mort was excited to test out the higher-ranked versions of the idea.
Next on the was the Lesser False Illusion. Were the names creative? Not really, but that didn't really matter to him. No, if he wanted to call out an attack name; it would have a purpose, and current you didn't have any techniques that required to its name to be called out. Either way he'd perform a random hand seal and let the technique take hold. Once again his cousin will load confused too, but having an encounter the first technique she had a much better idea of what was going to happen, though it did still take a little bit for her why is that the technique had even taken hold. Applying the technique a few more times quickly showed how ineffective it would be after being used several times in a row. He had a feeling this would be a problem from the start, though at the same time he wondered if his cousin was just smarter than him or if he was dumber. Taking a moment to think about how to rectify this mistake he snapped his fingers as he thought of a way to apply it. He was going to try and sprinkle in some different genjutsu.
Now for the granddaddy of the three. Well there were still two more ideas for false illusions that he had, he hadn't done enough studying and control lessons with his clan to perform extremely powerful genjutsu, and as such this was the highest he could go. Letting his cousin take a breather they quick share a small snack and drink a water then as they were eating Mort would apply the genjutsu. At first his cousin didn't even realize that it was on her just like the others, but it's time went on a feeling of dread crept up on them. Whether it was a side effect of the genjutsu or a side effect of having a cousin whose mental mindscape was simultaneously too chaotic and too orderly for them to handle, either way if they would Kai out of the technique.
Then as a proper way to wind down for the next attempt you're much more effective, they'd practice some of the basic and jutsus the clan had procured over the years, some more illusionary than others, what other strangely related to fuinjutsu, and seeing as Mort had picked up the practice he wasn't opposed to it. Still, the good times did have to come to an end and Mort would one apply the false illusion genjutsu, and he was quite glad to see that his cousin assumed it was some other genjutsu. As such he considered the three illusions to be a success and something that he could use in his day-to-day battles.
