    Name: Nezumi Mikiri
    Age: 18
    Gender: Male
    Village: Kumogakure no Sato
    Rank: D-Rank Genin
    Title: N/A

    Clan: Mikiri
    Bloodline: Dark Release
    Element(s): Raiton, Meiton
    Skill(s): Ninjutsu[Meiton], Sensory, Weapon Crafting

    Stats

    • Strength: D
    • Constitution: D
    • Stamina: C
    • Speed: D
    • Coordination: C
    • Intelligence: D
    • Perception: D

    Unique Abilities:
One-handed Seals: Nezumi may weave hand seals with only one hand. This results in a one tier loss of Coordination for that hand regarding hand seals.
Raiton Mastery: Using Raiton comes easier for Nezumi. He may use Raiton techniques at one rank lower chakra cost, but Non-Elemental Ninjutsu techniques have a chakra cost of one rank higher in exchange
Rushed Craftsman: Nezu may decrease the time required to craft an item by one rank, however as a result reduce his Coordination by one tier limiting what he can craft.
Flicker Master: Nezumi is capable of utilizing the Body Flicker jutsu without the use of a hand seal, when he does this however he takes -1 tier to his perception.
Chakra Drain: Nezumi is capable of draining chakra from others as a natural consequence of his Mikiri ancestry. This UA allows him to app techniques that can drain chakra, although those techniques leave him more open to receiving damage from chakra as well.

Without using techniques, he can choose to drain 5 chakra from someone by making physical contact with them using his forearms or hands, although he has to consciously do so. This is able to be used through gloves and clothes, but does not extend to other tools or weapons.

Every time he makes contact, he can draw out chakra from a person (capped at 15 per person per post) or 15 chakra per person if he sustains contact the entire post. However, doing so opens Nezumi up to increased damage (+1 rank of damage) from tangible chakra techniques for the rest of the post round. This is all elemental jutsu, and all attacks with tangible chakra, such as Chakra Flow and other such techniques. The amount that this UA allows for non technique absorption in a thread is capped at half of Nezumi's base stamina cap, even if taken from multiple different people. This can not set him over his maximum pool of chakra either.

    Appearance:
    Spoiler:

Nezumi stands at 157 centimeters in height and weighs 45 kilograms. He has a wiry build, despite looking thin and delicate at first glance. Beneath his shirt there is a decent amount of lean muscle, at least enough so that his career choice as a shinobi wasn’t a mistake. His hair is an aggressive, bright blonde, usually messily arranged without any real thought taken to how it ends up. This is a result of how naturally messy it is- No matter how much he attempts to comb it or style it nothing seems to be able to tame his fluffy mane. His eyes are a similarly bright blue. This combination of bright blonde hair and blue eyes is not too uncommon in the Land of Lightning, as as a result Nezu is not particularly out of place in appearance. However this is not true among his clan, who are better known for their silver hair and darker eyes. Nezu could easily be said to be a ‘Black Sheep’ among his clan due to his odd appearance and odd behavior. His only other notable features are the twin tattoos on his palms, interlaid diamond as are characteristic of the Mikiri Clan.

History: Nezumi was born to the Mikiri Clan, a line of shinobi living within the walls of Kumogakure no Sato, as the eldest son and an abnormality. The Mikiri, a clan of secrets within secrets, embrace the strictest isolationist policy, and few if any ventured beyond the walls of their village. His given name, meaning ‘Rat’, was a mark of this clan’s culture and what they value. A rat stays in the shadows, remains hidden, and scours through the secrets and the refuse that others leave behind. Nezumi was the antithesis to this. As a child he was nothing but curious, asking as many questions as possible in an attempt to make sense of the confusing world that surrounded him. None of this was extraordinary behavior for a child, but Nezumi persisted with this attitude long after it had been beaten out of other children. While he refused to abandon that spirit of inquiry a certain meekness ended up being beaten into him instead. His behavior led him to being viewed as an unnatural and dangerous person within the Mikiri, and as a result he was shunned and separated from his peers.

Constrained under this unnatural burder, Nezumi plotted his escape. First his name would be truncated. Rebelling against the ideals his family had given him the name ‘Nezu’ would be adopted instead. With the last kanji of his name removed the meaning was altered from ‘Rat’ into ‘Juniper’. The altered meaning wasn’t something particularly clever on his part, nor did it have any deeper meaning other than sounding particularly nice. It was this sort of eccentric personality that he eventually came to adopt in his isolation, full of idiosyncrasies from only having himself as company.

This changed once his potential was realized. While not having been born with any sort of great skill or genius, Nezu inherited the potential to one day make true use out of his Kekkei Genkai, something impossible for the vast majority of his family. Immediately he would be shifted out from his forced isolation into the open world. Shoved into the Kumogakure Shinobi Academy at a young age, it was immediately clear that this latent potential that he supposedly had was very well hidden. Despite coming from a trusted shinobi clan none of the professors accepted him as their student as he lacked the normal ideology of a shinobi. His lack of skill certainly didn’t help either, his senses and reaction time dulled from years of being in solitary confinement. After a few months, he was moved into another faculty, but the same situation happened as faculties couldn't keep up with his lack of talent. While he had great potential unseen before and held the high hopes of the Mikiri, his idiosyncratic temperament was unbecoming of a shinobi. With his laxness he lacked persistence and always put himself into the business of others, but he was always able to absorb all the information presented in his classes even as he failed to transform this information into results.

Eventually through pure political manipulation Nezu would end up passing through the Kumogakure Academy, that potential that had once given his family excitement being decided as more trouble than it was worth. Cast out from the institution as a graduate mainly as means to get rid of him, he would finally be cast out into the world as he wanted to experience it - With the freedom to discover for himself.

    Personality:

He is extremely frank with his comments, lacking any sort of decorum with his words. Without the grace that one would normally develop as they matured, Nezu will commonly state obvious truths in exceptionally hamfisted ways, only to cower back in fearful anxiety as his words provoke anger. Like a dog, the tone of a person’s voice or the way they say something is more important to him than what is actually being said. Scary things said in a polite and calm tone will be met with smiling innocence, and compliments in an angry voice will be recoiled from. This causes him to often not react to insults in any manner, instead even taking them as a compliment or not even realizing their implication. This lack of ability to ‘read the room’ hinders him greatly in social situations but more often than not there is an obliviousness to this.

He rashly jumps to conclusions, and commonly lacks even basic foresight that others would find absolutely obvious. Together with his lack of almost all basic knowledge about common subjects such as history, planning, basic logic, and strategy, Nezu is thought of more often than not an imbecile. Any grasp he has on these topics is extremely loose, making others wonder how he managed to survive as long as he has. This is mostly a sign of his incredibly sheltered upbringing together with the overwhelming secrecy of the Mikiri, resulting in him not knowing things that others would consider absolutely obvious. All attempts to learn or for others to teach him seem to end up either hilariously misconstrued and misunderstood or just blankly confusing Nezu as well, usually ending with him more misinformed than he was previously.

He lacks a practical reason to participate in the shinobi world, all things considered. Not being particularly talented in the traditional shinobi skills or really having much of a desire to learn more about them, he’s the epitome of mediocrity. His theoretical “great potential” contrasts with this greatly. Despite being told from a young age that he was capable of great things this never really sunk in to Nezu’s consciousness, who never really had a desire to achieve greatness or excellence. This is a fortunate thing as that greatness that he was promised never materialized.

To onlookers it seems he only does things for the sake of doing them, but in truth what keeps him as a shinobi is his intense curiosity and desire for freedom. Having already been shoved into that role partly through political manipulation, he was more or less abandoned once that political willpower ran out. After being dumped out of the Kumogakure Academy, more or less being forcibly graduated just to get rid of him, Nezu expected a return to his old lifestyle. The communal, classroom experience of the Academy had quickly given him a taste of something more than just that pathetic life, and so returning back to his family was something he dreaded more than anything else. Instead, to his surprise, he was provided by the state with his own private dwelling and a monthly stipend for which to live on between the missions he was expected to begin. While this was just a shoddy old apartment and barely enough money to get by with, these meager gains gave Nezu something that had previously seemed unobtainable.

Now away from the oppressive restrictions of his family, Nezu suddenly gained an amount of power that immediately overwhelmed him. He could choose what to eat, when to eat, when he wanted to go outside, when to sleep, what to sleep on... It was a dizzying amount of independence that quickly went to his head. Transferring from a life not too different from a prisoner to complete and total financial independence without any sort of training on the matter resulted in immediate disaster. The first few months were spent beating the idea of ‘Don’t blow your monthly allowance all on icecream in the first week’, into his head. Immediate lessons followed mostly through experience, and somehow he managed to figure out how to not end up dead when living on his own. This sort of dizzying power and financial freedom was always associated in his mind with being a shinobi due to the method in which he acquired it. While obviously that sort of financial independence could be acquired through any sort of employment, the specific methods in which Nezu shook off the shackles of his previous life became such a dramatic revelation to him that permanently the association of shinobi and freedom would be made in his mind. Even if a reasoned argument would be made to the contrary little can be done to shake his dogmatic beliefs in this regard.

To onlookers it seems he only does things for the sake of doing them, but in truth what keeps him as a shinobi is his intense curiosity and desire to keep his newfound freedom. His upbringing inspired him with a natural distaste for lies, secrets, and mysteries, and now with this freedom and power he has a shinobi no longer does he have to suffer his family’s strange intricacies and almost fetishistic devotion to obscurity. Tearing away at these things which his family values is in a way a method of tearing away at himself. All those scars and remnants of his past will be removed piece by piece, cast aside until no memory of them remains. The irony of doing this as a shinobi, masters of secrecy and illusion, is lost on Nezu. If anything he feels the opposite is true. By bearing witness to this life in the shadows he is able to see and understand what had previously been a well of darkness. His attempts to discover even minor mysteries and lies is nothing more than picking at that scab, itching and scratching at his psyche until he’s satisfied.
