Making and Breaking

"Unnngh! Come on metal! Mooooove!"

Ever since coming to Kiri, Lily had been bored. Bored bored bored bired bored. Even after signing up to become one of the many contestants for the largest pit in the world, she had found the rules to be boring. Sure she could sign up to do events, but none of them let her kill anything, and thanks to that her skills were starting to degrade. She did however find one thing that suited her interests: Weapons. Unlike the old pit, she was allowed to make weapons and keep them for whatever she was up against, and that made it all the more fun. So she splurged a little bit, using her allowance to buy a lot of not weapons that she could turn into proper weapons. It had taken her the better part of the day to get her metal and tools up to the grounds, but get them there she would.

Then there was that of why she was here as well, that of training. Outside of her natural skills, she knew very little of ninja magic as well as proper hand-to-hand combat technique. For her, the simplicity of handling a weapon and stabbing it into an enemy was enough for her during their time in Vandal, but now that she was in the big pit of Kiri she had to learn. She just wasn't sure how to go about that yet, but the weapons seemed like a good start.

This was actually kind of fun.

Lily has spent some time trying to get the first set of knives made correctly, but once she had that down the next two sets were done rather quickly for a girl her age. There was something calming about holding something that you yourself made, something truly special, but she needed a break.

It was time for ninjah majik.

She had spent several days learning the basic ninja magic, and while it wasn't something she was good at, she was able o grasp the basics thanks to seeing bag guys try to use it in the pit. As part of her homework, she was told to practice the Fusee and Flair Gun Technique. They told her that she needed to move the 'chakra' to the 'tenketsu' in her hands, and then she should visualize the desired effect. It took her a few tries, but eventually she managed to get a small ball of light in her hands with Fusee, the very fussy bright magic.

However, the other one had her do what they called 'hand signs', and not the fun kind that old people used because they couldn't hear. But no, they were for animals, and while those were fun, she wouldn't bee able to mock her enemies with cool silent words as she cast ninja magic at them to die. So she settled with this. Making the dragon handsign, she'd make the ball again, then shoot it in the air. the ball soared, and then expoded, making lily clap in happiness. She'd fire it a few more times, getting the handsign down rather quickly.

But then she was bored again, and back to her knives.

Learning Flare gun technique 150/150

Lily felt like she was in heaven. She had spent a lot of time in the training grounds, making knives, and looking around it was just knives, knives, so many knives. It was like she was back in the Pits and she had the choice of whatever weapon she wanted to play with. Speaking of all of these knives, she wanted to try that cool ninja magic she had heard about.

Taking one of the knives, Lily would make the Tiger, Rabbit and Dog hand movements, and then take hold of one of the many knives. She waited several minutes, waiting for the knife to become a sword, but nothing happened. Frustrated, she'd do it again. Nothing. She kept doing it. Tiger. Rabbit. Dog. Tiger Rabbit. Dog. But it would get biggering for her. Picking up another knife, she'd try again. But it didn't do anything! It was like the ninja magic was laughing at her, mocking her that she couldn't make a really big and stronk sword from a knife! Angry and the mean ol' ninja magic, she'd throw the knife at a tree, and watched as the ninja magic kicked in and made the knife a proper broadsword, sticking into the poor defenseless tree like contestant 343 back when she was getting good with knives.

Clapping in happiness, lily would go and pull out the slowly shrinking knife from the tree and note the weaknesses the improvised dagger had. with a little more tweaking, she had a feeling she could dramatically improve her weapons.

Lily woke up from her work. she was getting tired, making all of these knives. But she was getting better. Faster. Quicker. She was understanding what made a knife a gooder knife and what seperated the worser ones from the gooder ones. It was hard work though, and it was tiring. But she kept working.

Lily was so close. Her training in making so many knives almost complete, and that was really exciting. Over the past few months she had a 'crash course' on how to become a proper 'ninja' and was taught more ways to use ninja magic. It was nice, but a lot of it flew over her head. Plus, she missed her old home, and found that being in the training field to be more comforting, though on occasions she'd have sleepovers.

Setting down her tools as she took a small breather, she looked at all of her knives so far. They were impressive, sure. But while she was able to continuously improve on the design, they were just knives. Once she had mastered the art of cool knives, she'd need to expand her options. There were more to just knifes in the world, things like swords, axes, lances, hooks, and kunai were also things she could make. Sure she wasn't the smartest girl, but years of being surrounded by said tools gave her a good understanding of how they worked and how to recreate them.

It was time for another ninja magic trick, this one being the 'Hiding in Shadows' technique. It sounded useful to her, as being able to not be seen by your enemy was nice, but unless she was directly on someone or in a big shadowy area, she didn't see much use in it. Still, just like a good weapon, it was better to know how to use it and never have to then to not know it and really need, it, like that poor fool who tried to use an urumi. Making the Tiger seal, she'd begin to slowly put her foot inside one of the shadows that a tree was giving off. She wanted to go slow in case something bad happened, like betting stuck in the shadow or being sent to some spooky world where candy didn't exist. Eventually though, she'd lower the rest of her body into the shadow, leaving her head above to make it look like she was in a ground hot spring. or an earth ninja. Either way it was fun, but now it was time to get back to work.
