Description: The Academy is planning a game of Ninja Hide and Seek to teach the children how to hide. The Academy's head is requesting an experienced Shinobi to act as the seeker and find the students while offering pointers.

The early morning sun crested the trees as Valen arrived outside of the academy dressed in what had become his normal attire for Kirigakure for the moment. A simple pair of black shinobi pants, black boots, a black compression shirt and a black cloak. His Kirigakure forehead protector was worn upon his forehead and at his hip was his weapon. The Hai no Ha was a katana of incredible quality that augmented his fire release capabilities in both normal ninjutsu and kenjutsu to incredible levels. He doubted he would need any of those capabilities today though. Since he was at the academy in order to play a game of hide and seek with a bunch of kids. He waited outside of the building itself, leaning on a wall as he waited for his mission partner to arrive so that they could go in and get started. The kids were already inside working out their hiding places and when his mission partner arrived they would get a three minute warning before Valen and his partner started their hunt.

All in all there were fifteen students to find in the academy. They were not allowed to leave the academy building and that meant they would have to be hiding somewhere inside the school or be disqualified from the game. Valen was again the lead on this mission although why a game of hide and seek needed a mission leader he wasn’t sure. However here he was, waiting for a mission partner on a mission to find fifteen hiding kids in a school, and he was the mission leader. Go figure.

Another day, another mission, once more with Valen. She had been running behind today, so she hadn’t met him at the Mission Assignment Room like she had previously, and it was only because a particular chore she had been assigned was delayed because the laundry machine was broken, forcing her to wash everything by hand and hang it to hopefully dry before she could leave the house. That delay had cost her the ever important punctuality that she liked to have at all times, and that caused Takara to be the more annoyed one this morning. So instead of casually walking up to Valen like she normally did, she was running, trying to make up for lost time the best way she could, and arrived only a few minutes after Valen. By all normal counts, she was still early, but not as early as she wanted to be, and after taking a moment to consciously slow her breathing, she gave him a respectful nod.

“Divide and conquer?” she asked simply, knowing all too well what this particular mission entailed. It was a critical skill, to be able to hide, as a Ninja so these students were going to take this seriously, and if any of them were particularly skilled, it would not be a simple matter to find them all. She was proposing that they split up and cover more ground, allowing them to find the students more quickly, thus ensuring their success. Granted, they were just students, but considering that some of them might have knowledge of how to deal with their bloodlines already, it might be more complicated than that. All it took was a Hozuki turning into water and jumping into a barrel or something and they might never find them. She honestly hoped that it wouldn’t be the case, but needed to be prepared for just in case. Or maybe she was just overthinking things again.

When Takara arrived, running up at full speed as if she was late, she would give him a nod and ask a question. He would nod and add his own comment. “Winner gets to decide what they and the loser does when they hang out next.” He would say idly, rolling his neck before moving into the building. He moved slowly and methodically, using his high senses to listen or watch for the tiniest clues about the location of his targets. He would look, moving through the building and finding few signs he would slow down and eventually track and find six of the hiding children. Muttering under his breath as he had difficulty with the other nine. He was moving too slowly through the place, covering too little ground too slowly. He should have used his higher speed to his advantage and moved through the place at a faster clip to find the easier and less hidden children.

As he was about to begin however the PA system would kick on and the announcement that all fifteen children had been found. He would shrug his shoulders, he had lost then. Simple enough, with that he moved out to the front door and would wait for Takara to arrive. Nodding to her in congratulatory greeting whenever she finally did arrive. She would have to eventually after all, it was the only door into the place. “I lose, fair and square. Name the time and place and I’ll meet you there. For now though, let’s go report in.” He would say, nodding his head in the general direction of the mission assignment desk and moving in it. Another day, another mission. Easy enough.

A bet? And an intriguing one at that… one that played perfectly into the research she completed after their last mission. Takara had absolutely no idea how to approach it, to be fair, but the fact that if she won she could be put into the driver’s seat for their next real interaction was more than enticing and motivating for the dark-skinned Genin to win this little contest. This is where her brilliant mind and attention to detail would come in handy, as she knew every knook and cranny of the Academy, able to recall those memories in perfect detail and that would allow her to find them more quickly. That, and there was the fact that she had done this same exact mission before, but as one of the people who hid and knew where most of the good spots were for those who didn’t have the Transformation Technique mastered. “You are on…” she said with a grin, confident in her abilities.

It went about as expected, but with the snag being how perceptive Valen was. About half-way through the event, she was starting to get worried but found just enough to pull ahead towards the end of the time, and couldn’t help but smile as she made eye contact with the swordsman yet again, having been successful. “I’ll let you know when I come up with the venue… but I promise it will be worth your while as well.” Already she was scheming as they began to work their way back to the mission control center to turn it in, how best to approach it, how to address him and his way of thinking and how she could still get the connection she was looking for. The key to it all was going to be having his undivided attention moving forward, and to that end she was quite excited… the perfect end to their little mission spree for now.
