    500. Natural science. Math books. Perhaps he should pick one up.

    600. Applied sciences. He wasn’t nearly smart enough to understand this.

    700. The Arts. Yuichi began to search for books about music. He found an entire section detailing how to play various instruments.

Yuichi believed that he was a musician in a past life. He could picture himself playing a lute and singing to an adoring crowd. Partying with all the women. Men, too. Maybe.

He felt the leather backs of the books. He wanted one on playing the flute. He recently overheard something about a flute playing shinobi, and he was intrigued. He had played the flute a bit as a kid, but he stopped around the time he became a teenager, a year or so after he became a shinobi.

The best book he could find was a book about a famous composer, and it described how to play various instrument parts for songs.

“Ballad of the Ronin, Ichirou Nakamura and other works by….”

Interesting enough. Yuichi pulled the book off the shelf and began flipping through it. It was mostly fluff, and between the actual songs there were long descriptions of the composer’s life and context for the songs he wrote. He tucked the book under his arm and made his way over to a table.

He inspected the library. For whatever reason he always felt like he was being watched. There was nobody nearby though, and so he opened the book to the titular song.

Yuichi could imagine the instrument in his hands, and made the finger motions of the songs. This book was worth his time. He decided, so he began to read a description of the life of the ronin, Ichirou Nakamura.

    The life of Ichirou:

OOC: You can skip the mini stories if you’d like and go right to the last section. There is also a summary in the other OOC section if you just want a quick overview since I know I wrote a lot here.

    ”Mini Story 1”:

    _______________________

    ”Mini Story 2”:

    _______________________

Go try to go to the library mid day, yeah great idea, maybe even use it as bonus training to impress Tengoku with. God she was stupid! This was so stupid! She clenched her head a bit with a grumble from the roofs near the library slowly sliding into a seated position; followed by a sigh. The greater the task the greater the pay off right Ten? She pouted a bit delaying the inevitable before her mind slid back to the books she had been reading lately from her mother’s room.

She had revised her original persona she had desired for herself when she had spoken to her mother a few days ago with the newargement that she had heard replyign in her head, as well as the versatile information in the books. That and her now growing self doubt that her mother was never home to avoid ehr abnormal daughter. Even if it wasn’t true, in Dahlia’s mind it was a likely reason as to why. Her new revised version had long black hair, pretty eyes that could pierce through someone's soul with the right glance… one that was still pending as she practiced it.

She had green eyes, and wore dark clothes. She wasn’t a ninja, but traveled a lot through the land of fire on her own after her parents left her behind to fend for herself. Ideally in the future when her one skills got to the mark they needed to be, she would be a social chameleon of sorts. She could act any way needed and be anyone that anyone would need her to be. Despite her not being a ninja she still knew how to fend for herself through her self taught skills and hardships she had overcome.

Based on the books she read it was easier some times to play the role of a character more similar to yourself so she figured this story was best… if not her own internal way of expressing the slowly growing abandoned feeling she was starting to feel knowing that her mother was choosing to be away constantly rather than working something out to stick around. Either way the girl she decided to call Yasu Lynn was someone able to go to a library and sit down to read for a while inside a building with a fair amount of people.

Which is just what she needed right now. She took in a deep breath before Performing the transformation jutsu. Her clothes shifted to that of darkly colored in theme but one that still felt decently close enough to ones you’d find in the Land of Fire. She’d have to decide on a warmer version of the outfit later given Konoha’s weather would soon grow cold in the next few months but for now it would work. With that she lept down. Her black hair falling down into her face in a messy but somehow still stylish manner. Something she wished her normal hair would do on its own.

She made her way inside trying to contain her tense nerves. The people who usually would stare at ehr waiting for her to go off on someone or freak out only paid her one simple glance before returning to their things they did given she looked to be just another new person in the village. No doubt a traveling merchant's kid or a tourist.

She felt herself ease up a bit noticing this. She supposed the new identity could help a little with nerves. Her brows still stayed frowned though due to her mild nerves still stuck to her like glue given where she was and how many people were there with her. Now… what would Yasu read…? She started to walk down the shelves.

500, Natural science, and Math books… been there done that when she was 8. 600, Applied sciences. Her mom loved reading her those ones before bed… 700, Art with some weird guy around ehr age playing some imaginary instrument or something like a weirdo. 800 - National History…. Hmmm she’s thinking too much like herself. Yasu may not have read all that she had before… but she also didn’t want to reread stuff she already knew… 900, Medical Studies… she supposed Yasu would probably read those to keep herself in good condition on the road.

That and even if Dahlia didn’t have much interest in it herself currently, she did know the information there was a good mental work out. Good enough for her. She made her way over grabbing some books before finding a table away from many people, not too close to wells but still with blacked walls behind her limited sneak attacks, and enough table space for the books. She sat down and opened the first book up.

To her sunrise she could actually at the very least focus on the words of the book permitting her to actually read and understand what was in front of her despite her surroundings. She wasn’t certain if her practice with Ten was paying off or if it was the persona… either way this was progress. Even if no more was further made after this, tw as more than she had expected to reach today.

    __________________________________________________________

OOC: a summary of the last section for your ease of use.

She thinks about the false identity she had recently made who wears clothes usually found on civilians of the Land Of Fire but darkly colored. Her base features look like that of the following picture below.

    Spoiler:

She shifts into this person going inside where she is surprised at how well she is doing due to usually benign a social recluse with high social anxiety. She then goes and finds some books to sit down and read at a table secluded away from people.

He watched her pass by two separate times now. She had dark hair and green eyes. She was quite pretty, and Yuichi watched her until she disappeared into a more solitary part of the library. He enjoyed his privacy as well.

He looked around the room once more. While engrossed in his book, several other had begun to gather nearby. None of them were shinobi, as far as he could tell. A tall, bearded man sat opposite to him read a book titled “History of Psychology” and occasionally looked up from his book at Yuichi.

Another sat down next to him about a foot away. It was a woman in her mid twenties, wearing a hooded sweater and reading a book of short stories. Even as invested as she looked, Yuichi could still feel her watching him. He stared at her for a few seconds until she noticed and moved away. She was now about three seats down.

Funny, she moved like a shinobi.

The man across from him continued to look up at Yuichi every once in a while. He wanted to believe he was imagining it. The man jotted something down in a notebook, and Yuichi couldn’t take it anymore. He stood up and made his way between two bookcases far away.

He sat down on the wood floor.

He took a deep breath and enjoyed that library smell. He could see that woman from before, with green eyes and black hair. Was she watching him too?

He decided to look occupied and selected a random book nearby. It was an encyclopedia of mental health conditions. All negative of course. Maybe he could learn a thing or two about himself there. He started flipping through the boon. Table on contents. Mood disorders. Psychosis. Personality disorders. Ooh, eating disorders.

He looked up from the book to make sure the woman had not moved. Sure enough she remained seated.

This book was boring to read. It listed several eating disorders in bold text and highlighted their causes, symptoms, and treatments. He learned that some people make themselves throw up after eating a meal. There were some pretty horrifying pictures of people whose ribs popped out, with sunken cheeks and bags under their eyes. Was this what Yuichi looked like?

He checked on the woman once more, she seemed invested in whatever she was reading. He was sure she was not watching him, so he crawled along the floor until he was pretty close, carrying his books with him. He stood up and watched her. She didn’t look at him. Good. He selected a seat nearby and opened his book, “Ballad of the Ronin, Ichirou Nakamura and other works by….”

Post by Dahlia Fedcon Fri Nov 05, 2021 8:08 pm

She started to read the introduction section of the book leaning on one arm that brushed some of her hair from her face; while the other held the pages of the book down to prevent them flipping closed again. As she read she felt like she should look up due to a new arrival in a nearby section of books. She kept her eyes to the book however. She needed to try to focus on her book. She couldn't look at every person who came by. She had to force that feeling down.

She flipped the page before finally looking up to see the shelving area clear. Odd she must have managed to ignore him long enough for him to leave. She looked back down to continue reading. Sadly she didn't make it too far before noticing a moving figure crawling along the floor. She looked back down to her book, sliding her hand she rested on towards her side where she kept her Tanto when she wasn't in this form just in case. The heck was this guy up to? She kept looking at her book but didn't read it. She just acted like she was. How could she? There was some dude staring up at her from the floor!

Never had her anxiety felt more justified than right now. She frowned her brows more as he chose to sit near her and read the title of his book out loud. What was this guy's problem? She could easily try to beat him down for annoying her so much, but she had to at least try to practice being social. She grumbled a bit before looking up to the boy.

"What?" Her voice was firm and almost felt like it had a natural growl to it that would likely even be there if she was happy toned talking.

The voice did have some feminine properties however.

"You keep staring at me. If you have something to say, say it. Don't be annoying about it by staring." She said firmly.

The tone wasn't a shout. If anything it sounded bored in a way as well as annoyed. Her green eyes staring the boy down with frowned brows.

Learning From Ancient History Empty Re: Learning From Ancient History

Post by Yuichi Sat Nov 06, 2021 8:43 pm

She was speaking to Yuichi. He hadn't been spoken to by somebody who wasn't wearing a lab coat in ages. He had to try to act normal.

Okay. What to say? Should he complement her appearance? He could always just introduce himself. Hello, I'm Yuichi. How are you? No, no, that didn't work. It would come out too awkward, besides she was already mad at him.

Understandably so. He was acting like a crazy person. And he read out loud when she was clearly trying to focus. He didn't mean to he just did, and now she was mad and confrontational. Of course the first person he got to talk to hated him. Wait. What if she is watching him? He was paranoid about the others but hadn't even considered her a possibility. She was glaring at him and looking very angry.

Most girls loved him. Maybe she only liked tall guys. That seemed understandable. He preferred them tall too.

He considered hiding under the table, but he was already in too deep. He could run, but he doubted he could escape. The last time he tried to mess with the anbu it didn't end well for him.

Damn this mental fog. He was sure he could come up with a response if he could just think straight. He could charm her! No, no, she clearly wasn't into him. How could he forget that?

It was obvious. All he had to do was act normal. Nothing suspicious going on here. Just Yuichi being Yuichi. Yes that's it. He forced a smile and looked at her. He opened his mouth to say something, but instead just drooled on himself by mistake. He wiped it of with a napkin from his backpack. He closed his eyes. Maybe if he pretended she wasn't here, she would just go away.

Learning From Ancient History Empty Re: Learning From Ancient History

Post by Dahlia Fedcon Sat Nov 06, 2021 10:20 pm

Dahlia watched as the boy just mindlessly stared at her. Silence wasn’t a reply she usually got. After a few moments she just started to look a bit in any direction, but his eyes. This was pretty awkward- aaaand he was drooling on himself. She recoiled a bit with a scrunchy of her nostrils and the corners of her upper lip. Okay there was something clearly severely wrong with this guy- aaaaand now he was closing his eyes. Yeah no something was wrong here.

She shifted a bit thinking about leaving before thinking a bit more. What if this guy needed help, but couldn’t say so? She looked over where he was in the shelves alone before sneaking over towards her. He could likely be hiding from someone. Though she doubted it was life or death given he chose to stay and read instead of staying hidden. Unless he needed to stay in a public space to stay safe.

Her eyes looked to his book then back up to the boy. He clearly could talk given he had started reading out loud before she stopped him. He could have been coming over this way for help of some kind, or for a location that felt safe. Think Dahlia, think. There are possible unknown stalkers lingering around watching them… or more specifically him. Given the fact this person she presented herself as has never existed before 5 minutes ago in person it would make no sense for them to focus on her outside of the realm of this boy choosing to sit with her.

With hidden assailants watching you, and a seeming target unable to address the issue but there is no obvious possible immediate threat to his health. What is the first step to do? Do not attract attention, and pinpoint the exact location of the potential threats to keep the target safe. Don’t attract attention… shiiiit that's like the thing she's worst at doing. She took a deep breath in then breathed out trying to calm her nerves.

If this was more then just some guy benign stupid and weird and he was in actual danger this meant it was far more serious then just being social. It was now also about keeping someone safe. She couldn’t let her personal issues get in the way of that. Not again. So what to talk about… Duh books! So she then proceeded to make an annoyed sigh to the most believable way she could slouching back in her chair while angling herself to see towards the direction where the shelves he had hidden behind would be blind to that exact spot. It was possible they were over there. If she positioned herself that way she could more subtly glance over that way once in a while to see if she could notice anyone spying on the boy.

“Fine, I’ll ask you a more simple question… What’s your book about? If you wanna sit over here you're not just gonna drool and try to get me to leave my own table so pipe up you clearly can talk.” She asked simply in the same tone she had held before.

Learning From Ancient History Empty Re: Learning From Ancient History

Post by Yuichi Sun Nov 07, 2021 12:07 pm

This was a simple question. Why would she care though? This information probably wouldn't benefit a spy, so he decided he could tell her.

"I, um... Well, this is a book about the life of a musician, and has explanations of many of his songs."

Yuichi flipped through to a random page. Perfect.

"Like this one, a song called 'Winter Lullaby'," he said. He shifted about for a moment, scanning the space around him. Upon seeing no people nearby, Yuichi continued, "the breif explanation provides -" Wait. What was the word again? Damn. "Uh, things not explicitly in the song itself. 'Winter Lullaby', is about an ice wielding shinobi who froze their lover to death on accident and then killed herself. Something not made very clear in the song, which is just  an urban legend in the form of a lullaby sung by old women."

Like his mother, but he couldn't tell her that in case she was a spy. His memories were supposed to be erased, after all. They even threatened to make him a civilian, due to his mental condition. The mental fog that was always present made his a particularly terrible ninja. He didn't even remember how to leave the library anymore. Performing and kind of complex task would almost certainly require supervision.

He fiddled with one of his ear rings, and made eye contact with her as he finished speaking. She seemed genuinely concerned or something.

Squinting, he said, "I am Yuichi, by the way, it is a pleasure to, uh...  meet you. Yes."

Good he was acting normal. Nothing suspicious going on here. Just Yuichi being Yuichi. Yes. He forced a smile and continued to make eye contact, even though doing so made him uneasy. He had to convince her was was just a normal guy. Your every day shinobi, and that meant making good eye contact. Besides, she had very nice eyes.

Learning From Ancient History Empty Re: Learning From Ancient History

Post by Dahlia Fedcon Sun Nov 07, 2021 7:28 pm

A book about some musician? Really? Whatever. At least this guy was talking now. Though he more obviously was looking for something. He definitely was being watched though his willingness to continue to speak so freely no doubt meant his watches weren't obviously seen. Or at least not by him. He knew what to look for unlike her so unless he was out right blind to seeing things right in front of him she wasn't going to see much more than him at the exact moment. After all her skills were in her intelligence not her spotting of things… or at least not in the city, if they were in the forest she’d have a far better advantage.

"She just gave up?" She muttered out looking to him for a moment before positioning her book in the direction she was looking for possible onlookers to search more efficiently. "If she loved her lover so much why didn't she instead look for a way to save them and not just end her life and wish her lover good luck on the way out?"

She asked simply not understanding the make believe women's decisions. She looked up from her book for a moment to see nothing once more. She looked over to the boy to see him fiddling with his ear ring. Something she'd normally overlook but thanks to her mothers books she had been reading she knew that mixed with his looking about no doubt was a sign of agitation of self soothing. It didn't tell her more than what she already knew before but it definitely helped confirm her reasoning in her mind to keep an eye out for the guy's safety. She met his eyes for a moment before looking back off towards her book.

"Yasu. Still debating my thoughts on my meeting you." She muttered bluntly as she glanced up to scan the library once more.

She waited for him to talk more only for nothing to come. She glanced over a few times to catch him staring at her every time… or sell more accurately her eyes. She looked about a little only for him to keep staring. Man if this guy hadn't been acting so weird before she would have just thought he was the one spying on her she swore. The staring was creepy for sure… and really hard to focus. Which only reminded her of her own issues that had been subdued a bit in her current form by drawing attention off of her. Screw it she'd give herself a pass for one physical contact action.

If he didn't stop her or avoid her hand she would reach over to grip the top of his head before angling his head to look back at his book with an eye roll of her own. Whether she managed to do this or not she believed her point would be put across that she didn't want him staring at her like that. Seriously who just stared at strangers so intensely like that with some stupid smile? Maybe it was some of those things her parents always claimed she'd understand when she was older… or one of the things she never learned from avoiding social interaction since moving to the village.

"What else is in that weird book of yours?" She insisted on some form of talking matter so at least if he kept staring at her it wouldn't be a creepy silent stare.

He waited patiently while she spoke, being sure to force a smile the whole time. After introducing herself, the girl reached over to him, and he resisted the urge to swat her away. She gripped the top of his head and forced him to stare down at his book. First, people tell him he doesn't make enough eye contact, but then its too much. He looked down at his book.

He struggled to speak up and his voice cracked up bit as he began his apology. "I'm very sorry. I did not mean to make you un - uncomfortable. I tend to spend my time, for the most part, alone, so I find it a bit difficult to be um... here. Even with Haru, I-"

He cut himself off after realizing his mistake. If she was a spy, he was in trouble now. He couldn't believe he'd already screwed up. He took a quick peek at her face, and her expression didn't change. She wasn't a spy, then, at least, probably not. He relaxed a bit, taking an audible breathe and sitting back.

"I had trouble having an ordinary conversation. I guess that is what happens when you are only taught one thing your whole life."

She wanted him to continue to tell stories from his book, so he spent some time flipping through. Finally he found one worth while.

"Here we go, this is one of my favorites. It takes place during the Era of Warring Clans. The song is called 'Kaori'. It is about a boy from a small village born with horns sticking out of his head. Due to the death of his mother giving birth, the grandparents abandon him, but somehow he survives off the land. According to legend, he stood almost seven feet tall. Can you imagine? Anyway, over the years he traded with the nearby villages, learning to speak, and earning quite a lot of money. When an enemy clan takes over the nearby town, the villagers drive him out of his land and he finds himself trying to purchase land near a city that he frequents. However, because of his appearance, they refuse to give him land, but the horned guy, Kenji is his name, by the way, refuses to give up and after hearing some rumors he approaches the man he was attempting to purchase land from with a deal. He would rescue his daughter, a woman named, Kaori, from some shinobi holding her for ransom. Well, the man accepts, and Kenji seeks out the shinobi holding her captive, only to find that she isn't their captive, but a member of their group. He decides that instead of sharing this news with her father, he should talk her into returning, which she refuses. He continues to attempt convincing her to return over the course of around a month, in which the two begin to grow close. Eventually, she ends up convincing him to join their group, with the promise of taking back his old home from the villagers who kicked him out. They manage to do so, and set up their own encampment there. They fall in love over the course of three months. At which point, some men sent by Koari's father show up to take her home, only to find the same thing Kenji found. So, they leave and give her father the news, and he hires all the men he can find to go and force his daughter to return home and forget about Kenji. After she refuses, the two groups end up doing battle, the girl ends up missing, and they take Kenji prisoner in order to find out where she is. Well, Kaori, being skilled and intelligent, forms a plan to free her lover from her fathers grips. She rallies what is left of her group, and they plan a sneak attack, which succeeds, freeing Kenji. Basically, they just live happily ever after after that."

Learning From Ancient History Empty Re: Learning From Ancient History

Post by Dahlia Fedcon Wed Nov 10, 2021 5:33 pm

Dahlia narrowed her eyes a bit as he began to apologize. It was weird but she actually felt a bit of guilt for such a small action due to how much it seemed to upset him. She sighed before glancing over to him and began to talk.

"Chill. It's not your fault I got issues… I spend most of my time alone too. I have since I was a kid you know? So I’m not good with ‘self expression’.” She said self expression like it was a tough term, after all it was a new one she only recently learned from her mother’s book. “So I get it. The fact that everyone likes different things and feels differently about different things doesn’t help the learning to socialize stuff either.”

She said with a bit of annoyance over the issue she figured he would likely understand if what he said was true. She noticed him stop himself when he started to talk. As well as him checking her face. Clearly that name, or whatever he was about to say was a sensitive topic for him, as well as a risky one to bring up. She must have done something right when he relaxed. Maybe an outside force guided her to the right reaction she was supposed to have.

Whatever it was she was just going to metaphorically smile and nod to it because it saved her from slipping up with nerves of tissue paper over there. Even if it was a 50 50 on if she would have done the same thing on her own.

"Trust me… It happens even if you aren’t taught one thing. You can fall into it all on your own too. I suppose it's what you do knowing it's an issue that's the most important part. Like. Knowing it's there are you font to keep trying to work towards change be it good or bad… or are you just gonna accept you have an issue and choose to do nothing about it cause it's understandably hard to change something so deep rooted.” She paused with a blink that widened her eyes a bit for just a split second.

Supposed Yasu was into self reflection that was seconded as advice. Noted. She fully relaxed her face.

“In summary… don’t get discouraged cause you meet someone that doesn’t mesh well with you. Just look at it as the next challenge to overcome. You don’t gotta get along with them. Just… to beagle today you can function despite the conflict between you two…. Or don’t. I don’t fully care either way cause like… I don’t know you. And you don’t know me so…” She then mouthed out a ‘yeah’ while nodding and slowly looking back to her book using it to scan the room again while he told his stories.

The era of warring clans, a fun era. A man with an abnormality was subjected to foul treatment until one day he kept fighting on until he got the respect he deserved… Why did that sound so familiar… The image of white dog ears popped into her head making her smirk a bit at the thought of her friend before listing on. Her brows frowned a bit the more the story went on again.

“Whoah whoah whoah wait. Like this girl sounds really cool with how she joined some shinobi rather than being cooped up at home, and how she helped the guy get his land back, but really?” She turned her head to look at him. “She falls in love with the guy who pestered her for days on end cause he wanted to buy land by forcing her to go home where she clearly isn't happy? That’s who she falls for? In like 3 months?”

She rolled her eyes looking back off before a pout slowly eased a bit onto her face. The girl was so smart she saved everyone and got happily ever after.. Everyone lives… She flipped the page in her book.

"The happy group finds a happy land where they can be safe and happy with each other for the rest of their lives. No further issues, no secret drauma, no adjustment curves to the new lifestyle, no complications… nothing…. If only it was so easy.” She muttered barely audible under her breath then sighed and spoke up. “Kenji was cool at first but feels like a tool. Kaori is cool but so totally could have found someone better with all her cool skills and talents. That and the story ends with finding love? Really? That’s an ensign that only a little girl would like.”

She said with a bit of a grumble once again forgetting she's a girl that's 14 and thus being ‘a little girl.’

Her advice was welcome, even if she didn't know anything about him. She didn't even know he was an Uchiha, probably. She had no idea the pressure that he grew up with. A shinobi is only good for killing, and that is what he was expected to be from the moment he was born. He decided to pretend to agree with her. He just nodded agreements at her advice.

Well, at least they agreed Kaori was cool.  Yuichi thought it was a nice story. He could see were she was coming from though, the ending was a bit too perfect. He enjoyed stories of love and tragedy. Probably because his life was boring. He was a genin with no future. He simply stated, "I suppose I see your point."

He thought it was strange she referred to it as childish. He wondered how old she was. Judging from her appearance she can't be that much older than Yuichi. She was a bit taller than he was. Would it seem weird if he asked? He was putting too much thought into it. It really didn't matter.

While he told his story he noticed her flipping through the pages of her book from time to time and he couldn't help but be a bit curious. After a brief, somewhat awkward moment of silence, Yuichi decided to ask her, "Umm... May I ask what you are reading?"

He didn't want to force her to talk about it, but it was nice to talk to someone. Maybe if he kept her talking he could make friends. That would be nice. He doubted it would happen, but he was already talking to her. He knew she was safe and he didn't know when he's have another opportunity to make a friend.

He went silent again… did she push too much again? He said he understood where she was coming from with her feelings on the story. So she doubted it. It was hard to tell if he really meant it though since she wasn’t looking but still.. Before she could think much more on the matter he spoke up. She looked at her book's cover when he asked about it and angled it so he could read the cover. ‘Basics of Medical Ninjutsu’.

“Figured I’d pick it up to at least get some basic understanding of it you know? I travel by myself so knowing some basic medical stuff is always good to know. I know a few things here and there ninja wise that I picked up from my travels but I’m not a ninja or anything so this is the next best thing.” She explained simply grateful that she thought about her reasoning earlier. “‘Sides, I already got math, science, and history down. So it was either this or studying the theoretical practice of using 5, 5 hr shots of pure caffeine for 25 hrs of consecutive energy without it totally frying your brain, or giving you a permanent twitch.”

She said with a shrug at the end as she flipped the book back open fully. She was pretty sure without chakra invested somewhere in there that 5 hr energy thing was total bull…

“I don’t usually read story books or anything honestly. So..” She shrugged a bit as if it finished her thought somehow.

Post by Yuichi Thu Nov 11, 2021 12:04 pm

She explained that she travelled a lot and understood some basic ninja stuff, and that she wanted to know a bit more about medicine as well. She described how she knew math, history ,and science pretty well. She talked about caffeine pills, something that Yuichi had never tried. They did sound convenient, but his doctors would probably yell at him if he stayed up for 25 hours straight.

“I umm... really haven’t done much travelling. I spent some time in the Heavenly Emporium, but that is a neutral zone. It’s…” He decided it was safe enough to share some information with her. “It’s not always safe to travel outside of the senju forest or the land of fire as a member of the Uchiha clan. Especially for somebody like me.” He was remembering a time he nearly died because he failed to make any attempt to defend himself against a much weaker opponent. He still had a scar on the top of his head, hidden by hair, from the blow he took. He felt it with his fingers briefly before continuing. “I don’t really like fighting, most of the time I just run away or let somebody stronger fight for me. I am quite good at running away though.”

She mentioned she didn’t read story books, and Yuichi couldn’t help but blurt out, “I love stories, I read them to Donut all the-” He just realized she didn’t know who Donut was. He looked up at her. He didn’t want her to think he was weird. “Donut… umm… Donut is my cat.” Somehow that seemed less bizarre than reading to his stuffed animal. “I used to read them to my little brother too, but then he got ‘too old’.”

Though he had to admit that he sometimes wanted to go on some adventures of his own, he really wasn’t the travelling type. He wondered why she travelled around a lot. What kind of ninja stuff did she know. Has she met anyone interesting? Yuichi didn’t even know the Uchiha clan elders or the hokage. He barely knew who the even were. He knew the hokage had super cute ears. Renny was probably the most interesting person he ever met, and they didn’t exactly hit it off. Yuichi was downright terrified of the man.

“Have you ever met anyone interesting on your travels?” He asked the question very quietly and attempted to gauge her facial reaction.

Learning From Ancient History Empty Re: Learning From Ancient History

Post by Dahlia Fedcon Thu Nov 11, 2021 7:28 pm

She raised a brow at the name of the location of Heavenly Emporium. Right that place. Her family had talked about going but had ultimately decided against it due to Dahlia more likely to start a screen and panic while there, Oliver had school, and they couldn’t afford to skip out on their jobs to go to a big festival in the sky. Then he mentioned his clan. She wouldn’t have pinned him as an Uchiha. Mostly due to his demeanor. He acted much differently than any Uchiha she had ever heard of, or briefly interacted with.

Even the old Hokage she met in the forest; despite his few words that still stuck with her today, had come off as if he was higher to some degree. Yeah he was due to being an old Hokage, but come one it was pretty hard to not associate that sort of behavior with his Uchiha heritage. She tried not to do so to others due to partly not fully caring, but also due to knowing what it was like to be associated with what you are before others see who you are. Nonetheless she didn’t react much to the telling of the Uchiha Clan externally. At most she just showed recognition of knowing of the clan but that was about it.

The somebody like me part though did intrigue her a bit. He was different with social stuff though she did wonder if he meant he was different past just that. Her eyes glanced up for a moment to catch him touching his head. Maybe there was a scar up there? Or maybe it was just a self soothing thing? She nodded a bit to his mention of running away.

“It sucks to not be able to fight, but sometimes running is all you can do… I don’t know much but… maybe I could show you a thing or two sometime. Being cooped up in one place all the time is probably a major drag.” She said thinking about her own frustration towards being stuck in the village all this time for the similar reason of her parents and the higher ranking ninja believing it was too dangerous for her.

She blinked when he blurted out his thoughts. Then perked her head up at the mention of his cat.

“What kind of cat are they?” She asked curiously before rolling her eyes at the too old for stories. “That's lame. Maybe you’re just not reading him the right stories. I know I'd say I was too old for stories if I was still being to read children’s books or something.”

Then the question came, if she met anyone interesting. Yasu wouldn’t have given well; she was just invented recently and claiming she knew someone important could be risky if that information was challenged later on. Dahlia had managed to meet both Hokage thus far though. But she was Yasu right now so…

“Not really. No one really pays much attention to random kids you know? But I still have a lot of years ahead of me. If we ever meet again I could have a whole slew of new names to tell you about on that list. That is if this interaction didn’t scare you off.” She said with a shrug before sighing and looking at him. “Look. what I’m about to say I don’t want a pretend ‘I’m fine’ or playing dumb.”

She closed her book and turned to face him.

“It’s obvious something's going on with you. I expect someone is watching you based on your behavior. I couldn’t spot anyone from this location though. I need a yes or no from you from these next two questions, got it?” She asked before continuing only a second later. “One, do you believe you’re in danger. Two, do you need to sneak out of this place? If you do, those windows in the back of the library seem to be easy points to do so. I could easily help you out through those to get you away from whatever or whoever is stalking you. But I can’t leave without knowing you’re safe. It wouldn’t be cool of me to do so.”

Learning From Ancient History Empty Re: Learning From Ancient History

Post by Yuichi Fri Nov 12, 2021 8:49 pm

Being cooped up in one place was a drag. She had no idea. During much of his life, Yuichi wasn’t even allowed to leave his house. Thank god Haru was born and he had something to occupy himself with. He made a good parent, even if he wasn’t much older himself. Haru was gone now, and Yuichi had changed so much he hardly recognized himself. One thing definitely stayed the same, people wanted him to stay trapped in this village ‘for his own safety’. He couldn’t imagine a less safe place to be right now. She offered to teach him a thing or two, but he didn’t see a purpose. She wasn’t a shinobi. She had nothing she could teach him that would be of any good.

“Thank you for the offer, but I’m going to have to turn you down. I’m pretty busy with my own training. Secret Uchiha stuff.” That was a lie, but he needed some kind of excuse.

Soon enough, he found himself having to explain some details about his ‘cat’. Once again, he found himself getting a bit too excited about the topic. “I apologize, I have no idea what his breed is, honestly. He’s big and round and fluffy and bl…” Yuichi had never seen a blue cat before. “Orange. And he has great, big ears!” Yuichi made a gesture pretending his hands were animal ears. “He’s pretty shy, though, much like me.”

She offered to introduce him to some people if their interaction didn’t scare him off. “I will admit that I found you kind of scary at first. You seemed so angry. Despite recent events, I’m a bit of a coward. But now that we have had a moment to talk, you seem really cool.” She wasn’t as nice as some of his friends outside the leaf village, but she did seem pretty interesting, and she wasn’t THAT scary.

Finally she asked him if he was in any kind of danger. She tried to be as gentle as possible about it. She asked him two questions, which he was supposed to answer yes or no to. The first was if he believed he was in danger. This was an easy answer. “Well, yes.” The second was whether or not he needed to sneak out of this place. That was a somewhat more complex question than she might have expected. It all depended on what she meant by ‘this place’. The library or the village? She seemed like she genuinely wanted to be helpful. “I don't know. I’m in a bit of a bind, actually. I don’t quite know how to handle the situation that I’m in. The entire village is dangerous for me in a sense, even my own home could be dangerous. I am afraid of many things, but I am used to being able to run from my fears.”

“There's this guy, I believe his name is Renny. I’m really not positive though. I’m pretty sure he wants me dead for things I know. I’m not really even sure what specifically, but I do know that I overheard some things that I should not have.”

“So at first I was just going to use the hospital as a place to hide from him, but then I thought, if the situation is the same as last time, then I will end up cornered.”

Yuichi’s peers at Yasu, showing that his eyes are strangely dilated. He then looks away back down at his book. “I’m really not sure they have my best interests in mind, anyway, and I know for a fact that they have been trying to find me.”

He could not help but tell more than he probably should, because he almost never got a chance to express his worries. After his stay at the hospital, he was not the same. Still, he couldn’t be certain whether their version of events or his version of events was the truth. How could he trust her with something like that? He couldn’t even trust himself as a reliable source.

She had also asked him if he required help. She offered to take him out the back windows if he needed to escape his pursuers. This was also a difficult question. Not because he believed he needed to escape. Leaving the library would really do him no good. There could be all kinds of people watching him. Fleeing through the windows simply seemed like a good time. He couldn't help but smirk at the thought. Other kids pulled pranks, but never Yuichi. He had the perfect one in mind. "Actually, I hate to ask, but I could use your help with something."

Learning From Ancient History Empty Re: Learning From Ancient History

Post by Dahlia Fedcon Sat Nov 13, 2021 3:39 am

She frowned a bit as he turned her down. Right, she was Yasu. Not Dahlia. Dahlia probably could have taught him much… She gripped ehr book a bit tighter. If only Dahlia could actually be of use to anyone that is… Dahlia was just some brat who cared but never could function enough to show it. Yasu could show it. But she lacked the skills to act upon it.

“Yeah… I get it. Super secret stuff…” There always were secret things… Things that those who knew them never believed she could understand for one reason or another; she supposed not being the right bloodline hurt a little less as for reasons. “Well if you ever change your mind-....”

She paused with parted lips and the grip on her book loosened a bit. As did the strength in her eyes.

“... I guess I could teach you math. Or some stupid theoredical work that I can assure you no one would really care about.” She said as her voice lowered a bit almost in defeat.

Maybe it was good for him that he stayed inside… After all a bird that’s seen the world only suffocates further as the memories of the world haunt them from their cage. Her finger started to tap a little on her book as she felt the walls of the building tower over her in her mind. Being caged up after you know about the world was probably the worst part about being trapped. Her tapping continued as imaginary faceless people slowly came into the corners of her vision staring her down. The ceiling twistign in on itself along with her ribs threatening to suffocate her.

And all you can do is run to the only familiar place you can to avoid the eyes.

    The mocking.

    The laughing.

Never able to do everything you know you can do as the panic sets in.

    With predators all around you.

With walls to threaten to swallow you whole as you desperately swim to the surface hoping; begging for air.

When you know you can only find small gasps of it to barely stay alive.

Everything turned back to normal as she heard the apology. A little bit of cold sweat was on her brow. Her finger tapped like crazy before she stopped it. She tried to focus on the silly image of a big fluffy cat making her smirk a little.

“Sounds huggable.” She said with a little bit of lightness to her voice.

She set the book down on the table brushing her hair from her face a bit. Her heart was still going crazy. How could it not. Last time she was in a building this long was during the pretest to the Chunin exams knowledge course her old team leader had managed to get ehr and her team into… the one ehr frantic behavior led them to get kicked out… and the fight between ehr and her team… If it hadn’t been for her teacher… they all would have easily torn each other apart… or at least the other two would have come out maimed and she likely worse on the 2 v 1.

God she hated being inside these buildings. She tried to focus on him and the task at hand. And his statement that she had been scary. Something that made her let out a slight single laugh through her nose. She had never gotten scared before… She honestly kind of enjoyed the change of someone not finding her a joke and actually scary for once… She’d never say it out loud though. That sort of thing would have likely been looked down on if any of her family or Tengoku heard about it.

After all ninja were supposed to save, not scare.. And she needed to be the best ninja she could be… Or at least Dahlia did. Her brows lifted a bit with a bit of light hitting her eyes when he said she seemed pretty cool. Even if it was a compliment for Yasu, someone made to be what anyone wanted her to be… the sentiment still made her feel better. Even if it was only a little. After all, she had never been called cool before. She pursed her lips a bit, shaking her head.

“Thanks and… never be ashamed of knowing when to recognize your fear. It’ll save your life one day you know? Just don’t let it control you.” She offered half from her own experiences, and half from what she thought she could guess the boy might need to hear.

She didn’t know if it was the right thing to say but… she trusted Yasu. Yasu after all had given Dahlia the chance to feel a few things she hadn't been able to feel before. Yasu… the scary, yet caring… Yeah. She could get behind that. Her eyes grew serious when he said that he believed he was in trouble. Honestly… she wished she had been wrong about that one. She raised a brow a bit at him stating he was a bit blind.

She leaned in a bit taking in the information. The village and his home could be seen as so dangerous he had thought of hospitalizing himself. There was also a man named Renny who was targeting him. He was smart to think of a safe place to go but seemingly one without proper escape… Typical of a building. It's largely why she hated them so much. So in essence.. He was being hunted. She couldn’t take him to Tengoku as Yasu. But Yasu knew some Ninja tricks. He could clearly still read despite what he said about his blindness.

She patted herself down before pulling out a pencil. She motioned for his book then. If he passed it to her she started to write out in between the margins the Hiding in shadows technique, how to learn and practice it, and its advantages. It was just a C - Rank Ninjutsu so he should have no problem learning it as a ninja.. Even a fresh out of the academy child could learn it with enough practice.

“Pages 23 and 24 learn them. If they can sense chakra it won’t help much, but if not you won't be totally screwed.” She flipped through the pages then when she found a new chapter page she used the extra white space to sketch out a rough map of the village and outer forest with some arrows and written out directions in between the margins of the next few pages. “Pages 75 to 78 memorize them. You said you’re good at running? Good. If he comes for you, run. Use pages 23 and 24 as much as you can while you do so. It’ll help give you an edge. Stick high and to the shadows.”

She flipped some more pages. She knew yasu should know as much as she was giving now but… her secret was less important then his safety. She couldn’t physically help him… and her plans had either fallen short due to her inability to think in the past, or outright ignored… but. But she had faith in her skills of planning.

“If you hear big ass wolves head for them. I heard the Hokage hangs around the area my directions should lead you to. From what I heard he has dire wolves, and loves to show off in front of young genin…. And that he can be trusted.” She paused before writing out in the next pages the Genjutsu Kai technique just in case he didn’t already know it as an Uchiha. “Pages 90 and 91 should help you if they attack you mentally. No matter what you need to think logically… and if you think you are in a Genjutsu use this. You may spring it and waste some Chakra if you misinterpret something thinking it's a Genjutsu but it's better then going along with a really good Genjutsu thinking everything is real…. Or so I’ve heard.”

She closed it and slid it back to him, putting the pencil away.

“Look… I’m no one's hero. But I do care what happens to good people. Please keep yourself safe… Go to the Hokage if you must. Run to another town, anything… Just stay alive.” She took a deep breath before standing up. “Also. When you’re being followed… If you have to go into a building do yourself a favor and always keep track of the exits, and always have 3 escape plans and spots ready. For now. We should leave the library. It has 3 ways out, the main entrance and the back entrance that's only for the staff, and finally… the window. Which is a bit tricky to get through sometimes. So not a good place to stay when you're being followed… but I suppose it's good since there's always many eyes on you. However the market place would be far better if you want to use that method of high population.”

She walked toward the window and opened it up. Fresh air… the best air. She then looked back at him then shrugged.

“Simple math you know? And I know you didn’t ask me to teach you any buuut I felt the need.” She pointed her thumb towards the window. “So… you wanna come with..? Or are you feeling safe on your own?”

She asked genuinely. She didn’t know his skill set so she couldn’t assume he’d be safer on his own or not. But she still had to ask. Even if she wasn’t Dahlia, she still had to try her best to help someone in need who seemed like they deserved the help.

Learning From Ancient History Empty Re: Learning From Ancient History

Post by Yuichi Sat Nov 13, 2021 4:21 pm

Yasu’s reaction to him turning down her offer was interesting. He couldn’t quite determine exactly what she was feeling. Fear or anxiety. Something like that. Whatever it was, he attempted to steer her back by telling her he’d love to learn math from her sometime. It wasn’t true, he didn’t see how math could ever be any use to him. He would continue to focus on developing the skills he already had instead of learning new ones.

His efforts did not bear fruit, and her mood only seemed to improve when he told her about his ‘cat.’ “Yep! He sleeps with me every night!”

She had a point telling him not to be ashamed of his fear. Sometimes, it did get the best of him, and he had hang ups at the most crucial moments. Because of the turn his life had taken recently, he was made aware of the enormous, unfulfilled potential he had to be a truly great ninja. It wasn’t ever the path he wanted to go down, but he understood that he had something special. It was his duty to use his gifts.

He swallowed. “Yes. I try to steal my resolve. So far, it seems I only cause trouble for others.”

After explaining his situation, she wrote down a jutsu for him to practice. ‘Hiding in shadows technique.’ He did admit that the only jutsu he ever learned were to hurt things. Except for Genjutsu kai, which was basically useless the one time he thought he needed it. “May I ask you something?” He did not wait for a response. “You seem rather skilled for somebody who is not a shinobi. You think like one, for sure. Did a relative teach you these things? I’m curious how you picked up so many skills on the road.”

She gave him some advice about always having an exit strategy. He sort of wished that he bothered to think of these things during his stay at the hospital. Perhaps he could have gotten out if he had any idea how to sneak.

Yasu opened a window and asked him if he’d like to join her. While he didn’t want the training, he made a new friend, and he was definitely going to follow her. He stood up and made his way over.

For some reason, he’d thought she would be taller than he was, but she was actually slightly shorter. This made him smile. He was used to being the small one. He felt very proud for a moment, before realizing that he was still rather small for his age.

“I would rather enjoy spending a bit more time with you. If that’s not too much trouble, of course."

Learning From Ancient History Empty Re: Learning From Ancient History

Post by Dahlia Fedcon Sat Nov 13, 2021 6:53 pm

She nodded a bit at his comment about this resolve.

“I feel it… but don’t stop trying. Just try new ways until you find one that works okay?” She offered thinking a bit about her own hindrance she tended to cause others.

She paused mid writing when he asked about her skills. After a moment she kept writing as she replied.

“Self taught from books, and practicing since I was 5.” It wasn’t a lie, for either of her, or Yasu’s story.

Yasu had to self teach herself a lot due to her abandonment at a young age. While Dahlia did go to the academy, yes… she lacked the ability to focus or learn in class so it was largely pick up books, then study and train at home to the point of basically sleeping through class the rare times she was so tired her panicking couldn’t keep her awake in class. The act of which had only led her class and teachers to think she was lazy on top of being a brat who started fights due to her anger issues. The only teacher she only had was Tengoku but their training had only started recently. Her mother had taught her tactics from a young age but the question had been about ninja arts not tactics so her statement was still easily said due to it being not a lie.

She avoided the subject of relatives though. It was a softer spot for both she and Yasu; in slightly different ways yes, but still soft. Yasu had been abandoned on the streets. Meanwhile Dahlia couldn't interact with her main family, her mother was rarely home anymore, and her father who would have likely loved to teach herninja arts? Well he died long ago. She smiled a bit when he made his way over towards her.

He was noticeably short. Maybe he was around ehr age. Either way it didn’t quite matter much. She climbed outside through the window, grateful that it was a larger one due to the building it was attached to rather than a house or window meant for a more private location. She turned and would help him out if he needed it. Otherwise she’d scan around in case she noticed anyone suspicious lurking about.

“No trouble at all. I’m thinking we stick to the streets with low roofed buildings for easy access if we need to run that way. While also being populated enough that unless they want to make a scene they can’t come at you head one and will be limited on their methods.” She offered simply taking in now all the fresh air, and lack of confining walls. “Whatcha think?”

"Books, huh. My mother and father taught me most of what I know, but they never really taught anything useful." They had mostly taught him only how to kill. That is how you get a child that graduates from the academy a twelve years old. Of course, four years later and Yuichi is Konoha's worst ninja.

He noted a smile on her face as he approached her at the window. She climbed through it with ease.

Windows. The last time Yuichi had to climb through a window he nearly died. He couldn't help but hesitate going through this one. Well, there was nobody pursuing him through this one. Nobody throwing weapons coated in poison. He gently landed and stood beside her, looking her in the eyes.

Her travel suggestions were not too bad, Yuichi preferred to travel through alleys and over rooftops, but he took her advice

"May I ask if you have anywhere particular in mind that you would like to go to? If not, I could offer you a few suggestions."

He couldn't help but notice her difference in composure now that they were out of the library. "I assume you do not like being inside very much, and there is a nice, open spot where we can see people coming in one of the training districts nearby."

“Yeah no that’s just called a bad book.” She said simply with a shrug.

After he made it through she reached back through the window closing it from the otherside the best she could before sliding her hands free and shoving it from the windows rims the best she could to get it as closed as possible to not make their exit method completely obvious. She looked back over to him only to meet his eyes. Sheesh this guy really loved prolonged eye contact huh?

“Yeah go for it, I’m just trying to keep us moving to a safer location until we know we’re not- … you’re not followed anymore.” She said simply before pausing at his suggestion.

Was he talking about the one Tengoku took her to once? She doubted he’d be there unless he was training someone else. She supposed if he was there it’d be a test of her skills at being Yasu. Then again she didn’t have much practice so her personality and acting may be too similar to her own normal behavior. Not to mention if he wanted to spar she wouldn’t beagle to do much due to the fragile nature of the Transformation technique.

“What gave it away?” She asked with a half mutter at his comment to her not liking being outside; Yasu should have no issues with being inside so she couldn’t go and give the real reason why she didn’t like it, so instead she hoped he wouldn’t persist with questions with a response like that. “And sure but just keep in mind how effective it may be for escape. If there’s a fight I won’t be able to help much.”

She hid the near pained feeling she had inside well at the lie of not doing well in a fight. Dahlia was fairly decent skill wise for combat skills. Yasu wasn't, however.

“Lead the way then.” She said failing to hide a minor grimace over the idea of walking through a crowded place.

She too preferred rooftops over all other methods of travel but there was too much of a risk for a sneak attack up there aimed towards the boy.

"Your took a moment to smell the fresh air, and your facial expression became less intense." He started moving toward his intended destination. He lead he to a small path behind the library that branched of from a somewhat wider road nearby.

Yuichi was grateful to have her nearby. A second pair of eyes was certainly welcome. Yuichi had chosen to take the path from the library to his home first, which is just outside of the training ground that he intended on using. The path was isolated and there were not many placed to hide. If he found himself in danger this way, fleeing would be a simple matter, because there were relatively few obstacles on for quite a way, and he could easily disappear after gaining so distance. "I would like to take this path, we are not likely to be cornered and I can use the full extent of my abilities. After the last time I tried to flee from a pursuer, I had to learn ways to compensate for for shortcomings while using the only advantage I have. "

He didn't want to explain that his pursuers were leaf shinobi. Anbu, actually. He was already afraid she didn't trust him, and that would make him seem like a bad guy or something. Well, even after all that, they let him stay a leaf shinobi.

After walking for about a mile down this path, steering away from any people nearby, the two passed by his home. It was a tiny thing, just a kitchen, a bedroom, and a bathroom. Nothing like his old home in the Uchiha quarters, which he gladly moved out of. Yuichi could see from here the legions of stuffed animals that lined the windowsill. Moving on, he lead her into the secondary training ground, to a large, clear spot that he used almost daily.

"Well here we are." He took off some of his hoari and folded it, weighing it down with a rock near a tree so he didn't ruin it. He had ruined many nice clothes recently. He liked to wear them anyway, but he had leaned to be careful.

Dahlia paused as he explained before shrugging and muttering.

“It was a figure of speech, but good to see you're observant I guess.” She stated before following after him.

As she followed she kept her hand near the Tanto she normally carried just in case she’d need it while continuously scanning for people following them. She looked towards the open path he guided her too. It wasn’t the worst possible path option… Besides. She honestly would greatly prefer the more open path then the others. She nodded to him to say to keep leading the way before following him once more.

She glanced over towards a small house that had a bunch of stuffed animals in the window ciel. Each more huggable than the last. If she had ever had one she was far too young to remember. And after they had moved to the village she was so focused on training she never really thought to ask for any just as much as her mother didn’t think to get her any. She got plenty of tents and sleeping bags though.

She mildly regreeded not getting any in the past… they looked pretty snuggly… more so than her flat beaten down old pillows. She looked away to keep following at pace with Yuichi to the training ground that looked pretty decently used given the wear on the ground. As she watched him put his Hoari by a tree she focused on fighting off the need and want to climb up the tree where she used to spend all her free time between training and rare few jobs before her mother and uncles went radio silence.

“Nice location.” She said simply walking about the area checking it out a bit more, her hand still resting at her side where her Tanto hid on her original form.

Thanks, I train here a lot because the space allows me to fully utilize my abilities. Just a short way from here is a course I built to improve my footwork."

Now that they were out here, Yuichi sat in a shady spot, and began to read a description of the technique that she had written down. The Hiding in Shadows technique was useful enough, but better yet, it was simple and required a single hand sign. I would allow him to merge with shadows. It was nearly useless against anyone with a dojustu, which seemed like most shinobi to the young Uchiha.

Still, Renny had so such abilities. At least, Yuichi believed he didn't.

"Alright, I think I'm ready to try." Yuichi stood and began to charge up chakra, activated the tiger sign and...

    Nothing happened.

Yuichi waited. Maybe it just hadn't gone off yet.

Yuichi burst into laughter, and this caused him to loose his footing and fall back into a sitting position. "I was so confident for a moment, but then nothing happened. I was so surprised by absolutely nothing."

Learning From Ancient History Empty Re: Learning From Ancient History

Post by Dahlia Fedcon Mon Nov 15, 2021 7:10 pm

“You even built your own stuff?” She mostly just thought out loud with a bit of an impressed nod.

If he was this focused on training why did he claim to be lacking so much in skill? She wondered to herself a bit. She looked over when he said that he was ready to try. She raised a brow when he just stood there, doing nothing before laughing and falling over. Her eye twitched a bit under her right eye before walking over.

“It’s a simple jutsu… What did you do? Charge your chakra and just do the hand seal hoping the jutsu would do itself like flipping a lightswitch on?” She said mostly like the idea on its own was a joke.

She held out a hand to help him up.

“Did you even think about what shadow you wanted to merge with? Or preparing your chakra to perform the required task before actively just emitting it outwards?” She asked more seriously before grabbing the book and looking it over.

She thought she had explained everything just fine but maybe she had been too vague on how to actually perform it. It was one of the first Jutsu’s she had learned over 2 years ago back in the academy so it was basically second nature to her by now. She closed the book, setting it on the ground. She crossed one of her arms gripping her side while the other rested a bit on that arm. Its hand lightly gripped her chin as she tapped it thinking.

“Okay first pick a shadow you'd wanna merge with then stand on it. We’ll cover running and jumping into one mid activating the jutsu after when you practice quicker use of it. Then before you do the hand seal, focus on your chakra. Don’t charge it just yet but understand what it’s doing and what it needs to do in order to permit your body to merge. Then do the hand seal, and manipulate your chakra the way you’d need to based on what you had just though about and charge it up as you do so. When it is fully ready then use the chakra fully to activate the jutsu while focusing on the shadow you picked to stand in and merging with it. Try that and see if that helps any. If it doesn’t work, try something else.” She said simply and thoughtfully.

He was a bit embarrassed, but being a Uchiha with no ability to use fire style jutsu had taught him to handle failure well. He smiled at her when she asked what he did. "I just got too worked up, I think. Lost my focus."

Obviously he lost his focus, he was on the ground. She extended her hand toward him and helped him up. "Thank you. I think it'll work this time."

She gave him a set of directions that clarified some things. He needed to choose a shadow to focus on. He needed to focus in general really. There were plenty of spots with shade, so picking one was easy enough. He closed his eyes for a moment before attempting to use the jutsu. It helped to visualize his own chakra when he performed any technique, especially ones that he wasn't used to yet. He pictured it spiraling outward and merging with the shadow.

He was ready. Yuichi built up his chakra, and pictured it spiraling outward and merging with the shadow. He activated the tiger sign. This time, it worked, albeit slowly. He faded into the shadow over the course of a few seconds. He held it for a moment, and then released it, fading back out of the shadow.

"It worked! I got it on my second try!" He gave her a big smile. "Thanks. Anything you want to learn? I mostly have my elemental jutsu, but I know the body flicker technique or the shuriken giant body technique. Simple stuff, but still useful. I'd bet they're more useful to you than they are to me. Body flicker was on of the first jutsu I learned."

    New Jutsu:
