A useful technique but one that required four hand seals Tōri quickly flew through them and enacted the stream of water that funneled into creation next to the stream of water by the side of the training grounds that possessed enough natural water to make training suiton techniques all the easier. Just one of the many, many perks of having such an exquisite training facility that he had been sure to utilize plenty in the past few months. The bijū event had really woken him up the lazing about he’d been doing without even realizing it, for many years he had coated with his Jōnin status without making new strides in his development as had happened in his younger years.

The funnel of suiton chakra twirled around the training field before he coaxed it back into the very source it had sprung from, eager to get to practicing more of these techniques he had learned as a youth and reapplying them with his experiences. He really needed to step his game up with ninjutsu practice, though the hours he’d been putting in had paid off and his hand seal game had gotten faster than ever. Once he went on the necessary trip to achieve sage mode and he’d be able to fight right alongside those heroes who protected the village from even further harm.

Now going back to a technique that he had been reminded of in a spar with Sera and Nao the other day, the far darkness technique was as powerful as it was easy to whip out after the requisite hand seals were formed. Whipping through them in record time Tōri released a powerful arc of electricity from his mouth, glad that lightning didn’t leave the same earthy taste in his mouth as did the release of doton techniques from the same place. The raiton chakra exited with terrific speed and collided with a tree in the distance, leaving it a smoldering wreck after striking. Feeling bad for the tree he made sure to make a mental note to fix any and all trees from their scars once he was done with the day’s practice, knowing how much shinobi preferred to use them as target practice over the designated target dummies. He too found something different about it, even if they were both the same form of practice against an inanimate object. Curious if he could devise a jutsu to allow for moving trees to increase the difficulty for training left his mind trailing before he reeled it back in, not even close to being done for the day.

Now was time for another technique that Sera had displayed in the same spar that the false darkness had been utilized, in that spar she had used it to great effect as a finishing move against the weak match up of his wood. Tōri would need to devise some new suiton techniques to protect his weaker creations from the violent and exploitive element, thankful that he also possessed the control over said element. Forming the series of hand seals necessary a series of electric discs flew out with a limited degree of control afforded by the technique, allowing Tōri's projectiles to weave between the trees that dotted the training field. One such projectile slipped a tree’s side and lost its form, resulting in an explosion that completely obliterated the tree it connected with along with half the branches of a nearby tree. Frowning, he realized he was probably going to expend a whole lot of chakra repairing all these trees by the time he was done, making sure to calculate the chakra needed to ensure he wouldn’t be too tired by the end of the day's training session. His mind couldn't help but think in terms of what needed to get fixed up, it was something that sometimes he wished he could be ultimately figured out; it served him better than not.

Now finally excited to start playing with some raiton and suiton combination techniques he was glad he decided to bring his journal with him that had all sorts of notes on such things as well as new ideas for jutsu to invent all on his own. Though, as he thought on that note, perhaps it would be helpful to recruit the help of his new students to aid in the formation of such things, especially combination techniques that utilized more chakra natures than any one individual possessed. It was a rare thing indeed for a shinobi to possess every element, though Tōri was very pleased with his diverse spread he was able to acquire.

Weaving through the required seals he quickly released a torrent of water before attempting this lightning infusion, curious to see what sort of reaction it might have with the water. What he hoped was that the lightning would simply course through the water and leave the water’s shape alone, purely enhancing its offensive capability. As the raiton chakra entered the water source he saw that his theory was in fact correct, excited at the possibility of diving far more into this solid combo attack he finally nailed down.

Now requiring no hand seals at all, a quality he most liked with the few jutsu that possessed it, he was supposed to wrap raiton chakra around his arm like a drill to hammer down on an opponent or structure. It wasn’t exactly his cup of tea, raw strength was about the furthest thing from his forte. But as a weak spot it wasn’t something that he could simply ignore, that would lead to possibly devastating results if encountered in a life and death scenario. Just glad that he didn’t have to incorporate any hand seals into this technique he began moulding chakra and manifesting it around his arm with careful manipulation of its shape and rotation. He moved his arm away from his side, not wanting the raiton chakra to clip his side and open him up. It was said that the senju possessed the power to heal themselves flawlessly almost any wound shy of a decapitation without any seals, though he had still yet to figure out how to control it. Perhaps that was part of his difficulty with the technique, trying to be too conscious about the apparently unconscious effort it was supposed to take. Tucking that away in his mind for future contemplation he returned to the task at hand, slamming his hand into the ground and producing a nicely sized hole drilled away from its surface.

Not dissimilar to a doton technique of a similar name Tōri was curious if its conception had any relation to the other technique, being that it is its elemental inferior. Weaving the requisite three hand seals Tōri began moulding his chakra back to raiton, hoping his chakra system wasn’t getting too much of an elemental whiplash after switching between the elements so readily the past few weeks in his recent training sessions. Releasing the technique Tōri aimed the arcing beams of electricity at a less-than structurally sound piece of leftover doton that had been leftover in the training grounds form some previous session from a random group. Thankfully for this target the raiton chakra obliterated it and caused cracks under the ground, Tōri almost preferred this technique with its ability to have a ranged version of its doton counterpart that didn’t rely on contact with the ground. Glad to have options for this similar reaction he prepared himself for even more raiton techniques as the majority of the day ahead of him would involve such techniques. There were certainly a good deal of raiton techniques that the library had notes on, now equipped with his villages special variations of the potent element he was ready to upend doton and mokuton if any opponent also possessed it.

Curious to see this next one in action himself he recalled how Sera had used it brilliantly in their spar to counter the doton technique he had used against her. She was becoming quite adept at countering doton with her familiar element, he’d had to incorporate some more of that type of exercise with their training more often. With only three hand seals required to initiate the rudimentary technique a bolt of lightning came down and struck Tōri, though instead of damaging him the Raiton chakra was manipulated and arced around his body, helping to bolster his defense against Doton and Mokuton. Such would be an important part of his preparation for taking the Senju Clan Leader position from Ayame. He was likely ready now for such a challenge, though tempting as it was to reach for a boiling pot with the presence of a couple bubbles, it was better to wait for the proper timing. Such would be his approach to this plan, wanting first to make this excursion out to the land of hotsprings where he had finally deduced the location of the waterbound creatures he sought so ravenously.

With another three seals the next simple technique was enacted, simply charging up a hand with Raiton chakra and releasing it within melee range on touch. Walking over to one of the training practice dummies he placed the charged hand on there shoulder and uttered a cheesy line his late uncle had tried to teach him when he was a teenager. “Hey.” His voice didn’t quite have the gravely deep gravitas, the word even stumbling out a bit as it had when he was a kid. At that the target burst into smoke and flames as the electrical current was passed into its incompatible make up and burnt to ashes. Realizing he’d slightly overthrown it, we raised a makeshift target practice dummy with Doton before leaving the target practice area and back towards the scorched trees form earlier. There was only one more technique to get through and it was just as simple as the others had been.

This last one was one that was of particular interest to Tōri, it even incorporated a doton-like clap in the middle of hand seals that seemed to act as the initiation for the technique to fire with one final hand seal being required after the action. With two seals sandwiched between the clap Tōri got to work and whipped through them with a speed finally befitting his station. Glad to see some actual tangible progress from the crazy hours he’d been putting in at the training grounds these past few weeks. Or had it been months? It was hard to tell, after Chomei everything became clearer with Tōri, like a veil had been removed from his stagnant eyes. Firing off the twin snakes of electricity towards the scorched tree from earlier the two arcs of lightning met their mark and scarred the tree even further with two smoking craters left behind. Moulding his mokuton chakra he went about fixing the trees he had damaged in his training, glad to be able to see what little assistance he offered in the moments between exercises.

It had finally come time to realize his latent potential with the uzumaki chakra chains the clan was so renowned for. He had learned the basics from Airi but was now finally ready to start mastering the advanced form of their mistborn heritage. Thankfully it wasn’t a technique that he had to worry about someone else attempting with it being tied to not just his bloodline but one from outside the land of fire. Still, he decided to head to a more secluded part of the forested section of the enormous training grounds. He was glad to be able to still make use of this great facility but also get some solitary space to practice techniques like this. It brought him back to the time he first attempted it all those years ago when interacting with the vestige of his fathers soul that had been left behind in chakra form. It has been so strange seeing that face that he knew he didn’t know but still feeling a sense of familiarity and knowing. He wasn’t bearded like him, at least not in that image nor from his mothers descriptions that he had only had to go off of until that point.

Surging his chakra Tōri released a torrent from his massive reserves and began channeling chains of yellow that burst out from his back and pierce the nearby trees. Satisfied with the output level of an offensive move with the chains he went for a blanket to seal the entire section of the forest he was in, releasing over the treetops and adding a thin layer of shade over everything in the affected area. It was truly a marvelous technique that he saw used to great effect against the beast Chomei when Airi and Tengoku had all but double-handedly taken out the invader. Leaving for the day he decided to take a long bath.
