Classroom number three-hundred and forty-one serves as the Tracker and Hunter ninja classrooms. However today they would be reserved for a host of Genin taking their written exam for their first official test to see if they qualify as Chuunin. The room had roughly forty seats, with eight of them currently occupied by ninja from different backgrounds. They all sat in seats separated randomly. It was half an hour before six o'clock, which was when the test was set to begin. It was the last wave of tests given how they were in the evening. There was nothing written on the chalkboard and no proctor in the room yet. Only time will tell what their test will actually be...

    Finish the test to proceed.

Emiki casually strode into the classroom, until she noticed it was pitch black. Effectively making her blind as a bat, but thankfully she had a small weapon that always helped her when it was dark ... or most situations in life. She used Gentle Step and Rank like the dickens towards the ceiling. Her clan's bloodline always coming through to her when she was running, bringing her rather poor normal perception up to snuff and allowing her to pack on speed without the risk of going blind to the world around her.

She'd stay 'afloat' running about ceiling level around the classroom, and when someone would come in, would verbally help point them out to a seat until everyone had taken their spots and she could get a good isle seat for herself in case she needed dash again.

Ikomiki would stroll through the academy, taking her time as she progressed through the halls to her final destination. The room she had been assigned was on the third floor, which meant she would have to walk through the entire building just to get there, so there was no reason she couldn’t see the sights a bit. Stop and smell the roses. Each of the rooms had a little window of glass on them, and Ikomiki would peer through each and every one of them on each floor before progressing up to the next. Most of them had nothing interesting in them, but she felt the need to check all of them just to make sure one wasn’t any different than the others. Unfortunately, none of them had anything exciting in them. Sometimes though she would just watch the people moving around inside the rooms, her tail swaying back and forth.

She would eventually get to room #341, although taking her time about it resulted in her getting there perhaps a tad bit later than she should have. Strangely enough though the room would be pitch black as she first came in. Peeking around inside a bit, she would wait a few moments for her eyes to adjust. No matter how she waited she still wouldn’t be able to see a thing though. Moments like this made her bitter. Ikomiki knew that if her eyes were like that of a true cat, she’d be able to see in here just fine. The disconnect made it frustrating. She would take a step inside, only to immediately be accosted by someone that she couldn’t see. The unseen woman would be listened to curiously. Judging from the sound of her voice, she was up above. The woman would help guide her to a nearby seat- Advice which Ikomiki would accept without much question. Perhaps this was part of the exam? Her ears would twitch a bit, shifting back to allow her to hear upwards.

Still, the darkness was annoying. Ikomiki would clench her hand shut for a moment. A ball of chakra would be formed in her palm, growing in size to that of a marble. As she opened her hands the light from the orb would spill out, illuminating a large section of the room. The light was cast with a warm orange glow, which made it feel warm. With the lights now turned on, Ikomiki would take a glance around the room. She would look around at everyone, stopping a few moments only for the girl running around on air up above. How strange.

“There... That’s much better.” She would sigh, relaxing back into her seat.

Zen had such confidence earlier when he had signed in and walked down the hall to his assigned room, all of his confidence went out the window when he walked into the room. The light in the room was dim, with only a small portion of it illuminated by a light coming from an orb near a woman and there was another girl that seemed to be running in the air. 'is all of this part of the test' he thought to himself.

Zen would walk closer to the woman with the glowing orb, however an uneasiness would begin to grow in the pit of his stomach. He was in a room where the only light in it was coming from this small orb, if the woman was to turn the light out it could very well end in darkness for the boy. This uneasiness would continue to grow as he reached what he would claim as his seat, not far from the woman with the light but with enough space he felt he would be able to defend himself if she attacked, as well as doing his best to keep an eye on the girl running around that he would lose track of when she would run to the dark corners of the room.

As he took his seat he would slowly pull a Kunai out of his holster on his left leg holding it in his hand with the blade flat against his wrist. He did his best to hide what he was doing by introducing himself in hopes that those in the room would be looking at his face rather than what his hand was doing. "How's it going, I'm Zen." It was then that the thought occurred to him, he didn't necessarily have to see in order to see, accessing his chakra sensing seemed as though it would be the best course of action for him. With his sensing Technique activated even if the woman turned off the light from the orb he would still have some way of knowing where everyone was, this would also help him with keeping track of the other girl running around for now as well.

Shinsui strode through the corridors of the academy building. He had spent a great deal of time here the other day. Helping academy students throw kunai and shuriken, and showcasing some taijutsu in a spar. It had been rewarding, and fun. The kids had been a joy to work with and none of them belittled him for his 'weakness' like his old family did. He was simply a foreign shinobi. That alone made him cool in their eyes and he had their rapt attention for the entire time he had helped them. He ended the day with helping out a shopkeeper by 'holding down the fort' as it were while he went off to complete a business deal or meeting or something. He wasn't sure, it wasn't his business. Either way he had gotten paid decently for the day of work, and he had enjoyed himself during it.

He wore is normal suit and coat ensemble. Which consisted of a black suit, but no tie, and a red overcoat. A yellow scarf completed the look but he didn't have it around his neck. Instead it hung down the front of his body framing the opening of his coat. His long black hair, and fine, but reinforced, leather shoes, completed the look. Many would think that he didn't look like a shinobi at all. However that was fine with him. He linked the way he looked, and besides, no one expected to get their ass kicked by a guy in a fucking suit.

He reached the room after climbing up two flights of stairs and going down the halls a ways. He entered the room, the door creaking a bit as it opened, clearly in need of a spot of grease on the metal hinges. He'd step into a...dark room? The hell? The light from the hallway would bleed into the room a bit, allowing him to see somewhat, and it would also illuminate the damn light switch next to the door. Reaching out, he'd flick the light on, causing brilliant light to shine throughout the room, illuminating every corner.

Looking around quickly, he'd see a random woman walking on air, what seemed to be a cat girl from his own village, and a dark haired boy holding a kunai against his wrist. His own angle from the boy being behind him and giving him a wondrous view of the weapon. He'd look to the board and see no instructions whatsoever. Nothing stating the lights were required to remain off. With no proctor in the room, and no instructions telling him otherwise, he would assume they had simply arrived before the proctor and so had to turn on the lights.

"Good morning, why the hell are you all sitting, and..floating? In the dark" He would ask, looking up at the woman in the air as he stated the second verb. "Nothing states we can't turn the lights on, we're probably just here before the proctor." He would say as he closed the door and entered into the room and sat down, he wasn't too far away from the cat girl, and the boy with the knife. If the kid tried to use it on anyone, then Shinsui would take it from his unconscious fingers.

The good thing about having speed that put you at Superhuman territory, at 60 meters per second at maximum speed was that doing laps around a small class room like this one was a piece of cake. The ninja Zen wasn't too interested in Emiki's help finding a seat, rather sitting awkwardly near the catgirl. As she clocked around the room after his introduction, Emiki would use Gentle Fall to silently land on the desk behind him and look pointedly at his wrist. "As I'm sure a Kiri non like you knows who Emiki is. But to you Konoha Catgirl Emiki Hayami am I! Speedster of Kiri, it's both of your pleasures to meet me!" Emiki crowed before whispering in Zen's ear under the guise of a playful bit of roughhousing, "Emiki thinks you should hold off on being armed. We are after all just here to start a test, Emiki thinks it would be unwise to start things off by showing weakness."

With that Emiki would be off again, as the new ninja appeared and threw the room into light, Emiki would yelp, before running straight into a wall yelling melodramatically, "EMIKI'S EYES! EMIKI'S EYES! THEY ARE BLIND FIVEEVER! THAT IS ONE LONGER THAN FOREVER! OH THE EVIL HORRORS OF THE LIGHT!"

Upon her sight returning from the temporary, albeit too long, daze of the bright light Emiki would toss in her two cents, "Emiki is better now, as for why we were ... stuff,  while Emiki is very fast in movement, is not very fast in planning or thinking ahead if it doesn't involve pranks or mischief. Emiki merely thought that we were supposed to learn to navigate in unfavorable conditions, or that the proctor would let us know more when they came in here. But you are right, a light is very helpful. When we aren't suddenly attacked with it."

Emiki would then unwrap her scar and would wrap it around one of her eyes. "Now Emiki will be a pirate!"

While sounding random. She did at least have some combat experience from her time at the HIVE, including transitioning from light to dark areas. If the proctor decided to shut off the light when they entered, at least one eye would be able to see. Something she should have anticipated when the room they got into was cast in darkness.

Still, sounding random and melodramatic would have it's uses. It was always be better to be viewed as dim and superficial, rather than competent. Dim and superficial meant she'd be underestimated later ... although depending on circumstances she might live up to that Dim part.

From the front door the proctor switched off the lights as the room was soon consumed in darkness. "Interesting for you to adjust the faculty's equipment without permission. But understand the lights were off for a reason. Ladies and gentlemen, if you may take your seats." The professor descended the stairs and took position at the front of the classroom where a small, dim light emitted from his podium just bright enough to give enough details about his appearance. The rest of the room would remain pitch black. "I am Doctor Naji. Today I will be testing your ability to overcome the obstacles set before you. As a ninja you must be flexible to operate in all environments, including darkness. Your exam will be a single question. Your question is: when all is lost and you are confronted with an impossible task, what course of action should you take?" The proctor spoke while writing the question on the blackboard behind him. The dim light gave just enough luminosity to read the white text.

"Well, now. The test has begun. Good luck." The proctor stepped away from the podium and seated at his desk to prevent his shadow from blocking the blackboard. While the Genin were given permission to start their exam they would notice the absence of paper or even a writing utensil. And given the proctor's demeanor something would suggest it was intentional.

Ikomiki hadn’t said anything when the young boy initially sat next to her. There was nothing to say. It was only when the lights flipped on that she would pause. She would squeeze her hand tight, crushing the fusee orb. There was obviously no need for it then, if the lights could be turned on so easily. It was once the floating girl, who had been running in the air earlier, would begin screaming, that Ikomiki would begin to react. Her ears would flatten immediately against her head. She would watch as the strange girl ran into a wall.

As soon as she started talking about pirates, Ikomiki would stand up. Quickly she would shuffle a few seats down, changing her spot to sit down beside Shinsui. She would notably sit on the other side of him, so that he would be between her and the strange girl.

“Annoying.” She would mutter to herself.

It was then that the room would have its lights switched off again. The shift wasn’t so unexpected considering they had entered in these conditions, and from there Ikomiki just leaned back in her seat. Judging by the new entrant’s vocabulary, she assumed he would be the one leading this test. Getting herself comfortable, she would tilt the seat backward, resting her legs up on the desktop in front of her. It was an overly casual position, especially for a test.

Her eyes would glance down at the blackboard, which was just visible. As she read it, her tail would begin to sway back and forth behind her, moving about unconsciously beneath her seat. She would take her time to think.

Zen would continue to monitor the girl running around, he wouldn't react to her landing behind him, nor would he react to her statement about his Kunai. Who was she to tell him what he would need and what he wouldn't, it was then that the door opened and the sound of another voice could be heard as the lights were flicked on. The girl who had been running screamed right in his ear before running to the wall and saying something about pirate's, the girls outburst seemed to not only bother Zen but the woman who had created the orb of light who abruptly changed seats to the other side of the new comer. Zen ear had just stopped ringing and he was about to answer the new arrivals question when the door was suddenly opened again and just as quickly as the lights came on they were off once again. The man's words were cold speaking of adjusting equipment without permission before descending the stairs, 'great back in the darkness' Zen thought to himself as he gripped the Kunai tighter in his hand. The only thing that kept the boy calm was his Sensing Technique, being able to keep an eye on those around him knowing where they were and if they were to try and make a move on him.

Zen remained silent in the dark as he monitored the man as he walked down the steps to the center of the room where a dim light lit up the podium and blackboard as the man introduced himself. When the man stated the test was a single question a small smile formed on the boy's face, however it quickly faded as the man stated and wrote down what the question was. As the question swirled in Zen's head another question began to form, even if he figured out the answer where and how would he write it down? All he could do was stare at the blackboard as he tried to think of the answer.

As the lights went off, and the proctors voice commented on how interesting it was for him to adjust the equipment without permission, Shinsui would be annoyed. ‘Then write it on the board next time genius.’ He would think as someone sat next to him. He couldn’t see who, was it someone trying to attack him? Was it that dumb kid with the kunai? God he almost wish somebody would try in here. However the time for such thoughts was not now. Now it was the time for figuring out this damn test. As he thought these thoughts a female voice would mutter next to him, to herself. He doubted the flamboyant one on the ceiling even bothered to come down. Meaning this was probably the other Konoha genin he had seen. The man wrote a question on the blackboard as he spoke it aloud and Shinsui paid attention as he did. He wrote no particular rules for the test, however in most cases one wasn’t allowed to simply hop up and go wherever during it. So he figured he would need to stay seated. Although it never hurt to check.

Deciding to be respectful to the instructor, he’d raise a hand to request his attention. The man had seemed to have no trouble seeing down the walk way so he figured he would be able to see his hand too. Should he be called, he would ask. “Are there any rules to this test? Are we allowed to get up and move? Talk to each other?” He would ask, the curious tone in his voice wondering just what kind of test this was.

He would turn the question over in his mind. ‘when all is lost and you are confronted with an impossible task, what course of action should you take? Endure? Make the problem less of an impossible task by breaking it up? Working with those around you?' He wasn’t sure, but he could certainly start putting those thoughts to the test if they were allowed to move around the room and speak to one another.

The proctor sat at his desk and retrieved a book from one of the drawers busying himself for the hour. His eyes worked without flaw during the dark conditions allowing him to enjoy his book. But during the test he caught a hand raise in the air from his peripheral. "Yes...you with the hand raised?" Upon calling out to his request to speak he asked if there were any rules. "Everything you need to know is on the blackboard. Complete this task by any means necessary. However, the only rule I have is that you must stay in this room." He would leave it at that, eyes having not drawn off from his book as he resumed back in silence.

Emiki was prepared for the light being shut off, and with a flip of her scarf had one eye adjusted to the darkness, "Emiki enjoys saying she told you so, thankfully Emiki was prepared for the sudden loss of light."

Emiki would stroll to a random isle seat away from everyone else, and would wait until the black haired, light flipper Konoha Nin asked his question to act. After all that was what she did best, no deep thoughts, no particular plans, just move forward and get shit done. It was a simple way of thinking but it was going to pay off. Using Body Flicker and Gentle Step would pop over to the teachers desk and rifle through it for writing utensils and spare paper.

After pinging around like a hyper active squirrel on the world's largest dose of crystal meth and energy shots for a few moments found what she was looking for without disturbing the teacher sitting on his chair. She'd then blitz over to the others to deposit the utensils.

Afterwards she'd say, "You Catgirl with the glowing hands, make us a light. Nothing against not lighting things up with Jutsu, just not using a light switch."

Emiki would plop down in a seat and wait for things to light up enough for everyone to see a bit better than not at all.

As she adjusted to the darkness, Ikomiki would begin to get used to it. She couldn’t see anything still. There wouldn’t be any changing that, but she was beginning to rely on her ears instead. There were plenty of things she could hear happening around the room, and with how large her ears were it was easier to pick up on little sounds. The way they could be directed towards sounds unlike human ears was also convenient. The boy beside her shifted around. She could hear it by the way his clothing moved. She hadn’t really been paying attention earlier but the fabric he was wearing must have been pretty thick, at least judging by the sound of it. The question he asked was relevant, and the answer important to know, but at the same time Ikomiki found herself unable to care.

When all is lost and you are confronted with an impossible task, what course of action should you take?

The question didn’t take long for her to answer. What did you do when you were backed into a corner, faced with certain death?

It was simple. Fight until you die.

What exactly this meant in the context of this exam she hadn’t yet figured out. It was clearly theoretical. She doubted she was supposed to just tell this proctor what she felt the answer was either, especially with no paper or pencil. It was probably that they had to display real knowledge of the answer, rather than just saying it, but that would clash with the theoretical nature of the question they were being asked.

Maybe, would she have to kill someone here?

The annoying girl started speaking again, and this was bad. Ikomiki wished she wouldn’t. It was clear that she was moving around the room, at least based on what Ikomiki could hear. It wasn’t exactly clear where Emiki was going though. Only when she made a beeline straight for Ikomiki did it become obvious. The sound of the annoying girl running straight at her would make Ikomiki nearly fall backwards and out of her seat. Only barely did she manage to catch herself.

She thought for a moment of creating another fusee orb, only to shoot it point black into Emiki’s face. Maybe that or just stabbing her. If she needed to kill somebody in order to pass, this girl would probably be a good candidate to do so. Maybe that would be too hard with how fast she was though. She shifted in her seat uncomfortably. Sitting like this was hard with a tail.

    “Do it yourself.”

She would pause. After a second, a bit more explanation would be given.

“It’s some of the most basic chakra control there is. You should know how to do it too. So why don’t you?”

Zen stared at the question written upon the blackboard, perhaps the impossible task is completely a test without a test, Zen would replay the man's words in his head thinking that the man may have said something that could have been a hint as to passing this test, lifting his left hand holding the kunai and stuck it into the desk, holding it upright with his index finger he would begin to spin the kunai with his other hand as he listened again and again to the words in his head.

'the lights were off for a reason' 'your ability to overcome obstacles set before you' 'all environments including darkness'

It wasn't until the proctor answered the other boy's question that it began to click, 'you must stay in this room'

When he heard the speedster request the cat woman to create another orb of light after having managed to find paper and pencils and passing them out it was obvious she didn't really need the light, he was delighted to hear the woman turn her down. The proctor had already given the answer to the test, and it was that they were in the dark.

"Perhaps it would be best to hold off on the light," Zen would state as he stood from his seat, placing his kunai back in his holster and began to slowly move around the room. "After all he did say the lights were off for a reason," Zen would begin searching in the different desks for anything that could lead to the answer to the test. "This whole room is the test the good Doctor said so himself, every word he has said has referred to this. He doesn't care if we talk so long we don't leave the room, so maybe we are supposed to work together to overcome this impossible task of passing this test."

'Shinsui would enjoy shoving a kunai down your throat.' He would mentally quip at the insane one running around little a chicken with it's head cut off. The girl would dash toward the desk after his question was answered and removed paper and writing utensils and gave them out to everyone. Then she demanded his fellow konoha, did she call her a 'cat girl'? The hell did that mean? To provide light. To which she promptly and efficiently told her to fuck off. Then the overly paranoid kunai holder spoke up trying to make his thoughts known.

Sighing deeply, Shinsui would decide to try to act. To Zen he would say "The proctor said the rooms lights were off for a reason, and then proceeded to tell me that we could 'complete the task by any means necessary.' Even if that might include providing a light of our own." He would say, before turning toward the voice of the 'catgirl'. "Which not all of us can provide I might add, so I will ask you, politely. Would you please provide light for us once more?" He would ask Ikomiki, he didn't even know her name and he intended to fix that soon enough, but for now they had to get through this test with a psychotic running, and a kid more likely to shiv them in paranoia of them attacking him than not.

"Now then, the question is too vague for there to be just one answer. Everyone would have their own instinctive reaction to that situation and not any one of them might be better than others. Some might fight to the death, others might endure, some might pick apart the situation and try to break it down. Others might try to utilize every advantage they can. I choose to endure and use every advantage I can grab onto. That might mean relying on comrades, it might even mean relying on enemies. So long as we get out 'alive' of the 'impossible task' it's all that matters." He would say as he wrote down his response on the paper Emiki brought. He doubted writing it down was required, the point would be to show it with actions. "So if you make a light for us, and we stick together, we can see pretty much everywhere in the room. If there's more to test than that, then we can move on from there." He would say, directing his attention to Ikomiki once more.

Emiki was going to reply to Ikomiki when Zen and Shisui started talking. After they'd say their peace, Emiki would reply, "Exactly what the fancy person said. Sorry fancy person, but you and Catgirl never introduced yourselves. Even though Emiki has introduced herself, it's very sad when I have the most manners in a room. And that's including the baby clutching his kunai, not fooling anyone, like a security blanket. He must make his parents embarrassed to know him, if he gets scared so easily around new ninja."

Giving a dainty cough, after obliviously insulting everyone there she'd continue, "But Emiki thinks it is time to drop the act somewhat sadly. Emiki was having fun seeing how many of you were dumber than Emiki and buying her act. Even though Emiki is a good actress, and you're welcome for being in Emiki's presence. If you really want to know what parts were an act, Emiki will be generous enough to explain it too you.

"Now as Fancy Pants here said, not everyone knows how to make light cat lady. I'm sure if you really put that mind to work, you'd realize that most ninja don't know how, nor care how to do said Jutsu. Or like me, both, and for you Zen, the teacher said we aren't allowed to use the light switch, but he did say as long as we stay in the room, everything is fair game.

"As for why you've seen me run around. I'm right now blind as a bat, but when I'm moving my perception becomes as great as the speed of which I move. So running helps me see better, since as Fancy Pants pointed out, unlike the Cat Girl, none of the rest of us have any light to share with the others. Else I'd do so."

After explaining things she'd lean over to Shinsui and stage whisper, "You're the only smart one here ... for the most part. Emiki thinks you should do a lion's share of the planning, unless you want Emiki to make more correct choices like she has been doing, but that is likely a bad idea."

Post by Ikomiki Wed Jan 15, 2020 5:30 pm

Her ears twitched. As Shinsui spoke, Ikomiki’s ears would twist to face him. If anyone had been able to see, it would have been pretty easy to tell what she was focusing on at any given moment. Luckily for her, it was still dark. Shinsui’s request of her had been convincing enough, although the idea that there were others incapable of using the fusee technique was strange to her. That perhaps she had been placed in a classroom with those of little talent in direct ninjutsu or chakra control was possible, and hadn’t been a possibility she would have expected. If it had stopped there Ikomiki would have relented, and reluctantly done what had been asked of her.

Her ears would twitch again. The annoying girl would begin speaking again. She had been annoying before, and that was when she wasn’t being purposely hostile. But now. She called Ikomiki ‘catgirl’ again, and that would cause the first twitch. That, together with what she said about the little child with the kunai, made her already wish that the girl would shut up. Unfortunately she would keep speaking.

Ikomiki’s ears would be pointed in Emiki’s direction the entire time, listening. Even if they couldn’t see each other, Ikomiki could locate her just from where her voice was coming from. Perhaps this was appropriate, given they were located in the Tracker and Hunter ninja classroom. Ikomiki had read that labeled outside the door before she had come inside. She was vaguely aware of stories of shinobi from Kirigakure who were capable of locating their enemies through sound alone, and could move to find them and kill them entirely silently. In a way, Ikomiki was doing something similar right now. Given that Emiki was clearly right behind her and speaking a lot and very loudly, it was far less impressive that Ikomiki could pinpoint her located from her voice.

As Emiki leaned in over to Shinsui, Ikomiki’s ears would turn ever so slightly to follow her. Despite whispering, it was done so in a way that everything was still entirely audible.

Ikomiki’s fist would thrust out. She had balled it in a second, without saying a word. With the darkness, nobody would be able to see a thing. Ikomiki could only locate her through her voice, so she would aim directly for the source of the noise. Thus, she would end up aiming right for the teeth. Despite her size, the strike contained a deceptive amount of force. This was what Konoha excelled in, with this Strong Fist style. It wasn’t exactly what she would have preferred doing right now, which would have been raking her claws right across Emiki’s face, but doing something that probably would have just made the girl scream even more. Ikomiki’s objective was to get her to shut up. Hopefully a punch in the teeth would do that, especially if a few of those teeth would end up being removed. Given that Emiki would be mid sentence when Ikomiki struck out at her and Emiki wouldn’t be able to see it coming, Ikomiki would be fairly confident in her attack landing, but the worst that would happen if she missed was hitting dead air. Given the positioning involved, accidentally smacking her neighbor in the back of the head would be impossible.

She would know if she hit Emiki through the sound and feeling of her fist colliding. Ideally there would be a second sound coming after that - The sound of Emiki’s unconscious head hitting the desk. Time would tell though what they would all hear in this still pitch black room.

Emiki would have liked to have said she had seen the public coming. She would even have liked to say when sucker punched she barely flinched. But reality was rarely so kind when comedic retribution came calling for the hammy and oblivious.

As Emiki whispered to Shinsui, she felt a strong mighty blow to her cheek that knocked her off balance and face first into the ground beside him. The duel thumping knocking what little sense Emiki had right out of her head and into the blissful darkness of unconsciousness.

Her legs sprawled in the air. Her body contorted. And her head firmly planted into the floor she'd lay there drooling and for the first time since they all arrived completely silent.

As Zen began looking through the different desks, or at least tried to look through them the best he could given the situation with the lights, he could hear the older male  as he stated how wrong Zen was. Perhaps not in those words, but Zen was not naive and could understand the tone of the older male. The male went on to ask the woman for the orb of light himself, though the male asked nicer than the speedster it caused Zen to simply shake his head. A light would not help them in this test, if it would there would have been no point in the light being off.

After then male finished the speedster began speaking again, her voice was like nails on a chalkboard. Her words did not matter to him nor did what she thought of him, he was there to pass a test not get her approval of him. So he ignored the words and continued searching around the room, his focus was on passing this test no matter what, he had hoped the others would help in his search but they seemed preoccupied with trying to get some light. Seconds after the speedster suddenly stopped talking, there was a loud thud and then nothing but silence. Zen wondered what had happened to make the noise and why the speedster abruptly stopped talking, but he did not make a sound doing his best to listen to the others in the room.

Listening to the stupid bint of a shinobi go on and on about manners was starting to grate on Shinsui’s nerves. Sure, let’s just ignore the fact that before they knew everyone was there the proctor arrived to start the exam and at that point introductions would have been interrupting him and therefore extremely rude. Or ignore her own lack of manners or decorum of any kind as she ran around the room like a fucking dipshit while the proctor was trying to explain what little he did. The only thing he wanted to do more and more was knock her the hell out and move on. Neither he nor anyone else asked about her capabilities to see. Hell the only productive thing she’d done was grab some paper and pencils for them from the teachers desk. Which he was reasonably certain he could’ve done just as easily.

He was doing his best to rein in his temper before he snapped and jawed the woman as hard as he could manage, which probably wouldn’t be very powerful as he hadn’t come into his own strength yet, as hard as he trained. Just when he was about to snap anyway though, he heard a sharp thud of impact, followed by the sound of Emiki unceremoniously falling into the floor. Blinking in confusion for a moment, Shinsui would quickly realize what happened and turn to the direction where Ikomiki last was. “Are you kidding me?” He would say, annoyance in his voice. “I’m not sure if I’m more annoyed at you for losing your temper and knocking her out, or for doing it before I could. Or if I love you for doing it at all” He would say a moment later before taking a deep breath to calm himself. “Look, you can’t just go off an assault Kirigakure shinobi because they annoy us, this is their village. Hopefully, this being the Chuunin Exams and all kinds of dirty tricks being allowed, you won’t get in trouble. But I implore you to consider the consequences before you act emotionally like that again.” He would say, his voice a bit more controlled at that point. He wasn’t trying to lecture her, but he didn’t want any of his fellow shinobi to get into trouble.

“Now then, we need to work together. That other kid is over their searching desks, I suggest we split up and do the same. Can you go ahead and give us that light? Even a bit will help us navigate the room faster.” He would say before moving to check on Emiki before continuing on. “She shouldn’t have a concussion or anything, but you may have broken her jaw. I’m unsure, but don’t mess with her anymore. We don’t want to accidentally cause more damage. Maybe she’ll wake up soon and be a bit quieter.” He would say, before moving on to begin searching desks. “The only two people’s names I know in this room are the proctors and the girl who is probably dreaming about how amazing she thinks she is. I’m Shinsui, I’m going to search this side of this area and we can work our way back to the middle.” He would say as he pointed down toward the opposite area from where Zen went. “Maybe if you stood in the middle corridor and provide that flare it’ll help him and I both a bit.” He would say as he began to search for any clues or information about the ‘real’ test if there was one in or on desks. He would move to the other wall and work his way across, feeling around in the desks if Ikomiki didn’t provide any illumination. It would be slow going, but it would still get done.

The sound of the thud to the ground was satisfying. That, together with the silence that followed, was music to Ikomiki's ears. It was a success, and hopefully that would be the last time she would ever have the displeasure of hearing Emiki’s voice. It was luckily still dark, so nobody else would be able to see how smugly Ikomiki was smiling right now. It was sadly only temporary, and would evaporate back to her default resting bitch face as soon as Shinsui began speaking. Not that she was displeased by what he was saying, it was just that the presence of another voice brought her away from that temporary bliss. Although what he was saying began to feel rather lecture-y after a few moments, and Ikomiki would quickly find herself rolling her eyes at the male.

    “It's all the same."

Despite that, Ikomiki would do as he asked. The ball of light would be formed again in his closed fist, with the light immediately streaming through the cracks in her fingers. As she opened her hand the light would flood across the room again. Her eyes would immediately dart down to the location where the girl had been before. Standing up out of her seat, she would look down to look for Emiki’s unconscious body. Just to confirm. Having gotten out her smug smiling out earlier she would be able to keep a total poker face now.

Already out of her seat, Ikomiki would do as Shinsui directed and moved past him, leaving to stand in the center corridor of the isle. With the fusee ball still in her hand, she would turn down to face the proctor.

“I have completed this portion of the exams. I’ve overcome the obstacle set before me while operating in complete darkness.” It was stated in a very matter of fact way. More than just being a statement towards Doctor Naji, it was phrased like a demand. “My actions should speak for themselves in proving my competence.”

She would let the others scramble around looking for things if they wanted while she waited for an acknowledgement from Doctor Naji. Given they were in the room made for training hunters and tracking ninja, she felt her display of effective combat in the dark would likely impress the proctor. She had done so specifically with the idea of the Kirigakure Silent Killing in her mind.

Doctor Naji couldn't get a moment of peace. The Genin in this class always had something going with them. What first started as petty arguments quickly turned to physical violence. Shinsui was the only rational one there it seemed stating the clear repercussions of assault. The only reason Naji didn't confront the girl about her actions was because they were ninja. He expected them to be capable of defending themselves over such minor squabbles. The cat girl appeared to have gotten a lucky hit all things considered. He figured Emiki would be unconscious for a minute or two. But that didn't matter. It appeared the cat girl was done with her exam. He nodded placing a bookmark in his book and shutting it. "Very well. Step forward and receive your packet. It will contain all the information you need to find the next exam location, the date, and most importantly the ticket." Setting the book down on his desk he retrieved a key from his sleeve unlocking the only locked drawer in his desk.

Zen could hear the male as he complained about someone assaulting someone else, was it possible the two girls had gotten into a fight, was that the noise he heard. Considering it was relatively quiet in the room, Zen could only assume that the woman with the cat ears knocked the speedster out, considering the male was asking for the chakra orb again Zen would surmise that he was correct.

When the chakra orb came to life in the woman's hand, Zen could not say he wasn't a little disappointed that the light was back but at the same time being able to see would speed up the process of his search. It was then that the woman did something Zen was not expecting at all, she demanded being passed by the doctor. Of all the nerve, punching someone else unconscious and then demanding they be allowed to move forward in the exams seemed like a stretch for Zen. To the young genin's surprise however the doctor agreed with her, telling her to come forward and get a packet with information she would need. Zen worked it all through in his head if it was as simple as this he should have just attacked one of them from the beginning rather than trying to work with them, but there was still another he could deal with if he had to, the male was still awake, or even the cat woman if he was so inclined.

When the proctor removed the key from his sleeve, Zen realized that he needed to get that key to pass his own test and ikomiki provided him with that chance. Without so much as a second thought the boy would pull out his bow, notching an arrow in the same motion and loose the arrow aimed at the key in the proctors hand. Zen hoped that the man's defenses would be down even just slightly as his focus was on the woman, if his arrow hit the mark and knock the key from the proctors hand then Zen would yell for Shinsui to get to the key as he too made his way to the proctors desk in an attempt to grab the key.

If noone were to get her airways unclogged and her body stable she could potentially die, but who knew if anyone was paying attention to the fallen ninja or merely glad she was mostly silent and no longer being a ruckus?

As Naji retrieved the key from his coat he noticed one of the Genin immediately rose from his seat. He had to admit he was not this turn of events. Naji attempted to goad Ikomiki to his desk in order to administer a sense of punishment for her foolish behavior. He had no intention of handing over the packet to begin with. But after his statement it appeared one Genin got the wrong idea and it wouldn't be soon before the entire room erupted into chaos. He had to put an end to this immediately. Standing on both feet in a sense of urgency Naji waved his arm in an arc across his body whilst funneling his Wind release chakra from his fingertips. Each finger created a blade which combined into a single broad blade of wind. This powerful gust scattered his desk supplies from his desk and flipped his book onto the floor demonstrating the destruction potential of the technique. The wind blade splintered the fired arrow at the halfway point and would make its way to both Ikomiki and Zen.

Being five meters in length and its speed made it a difficult technique to dodge in its effective range. The targeted Genin sat roughly seven meters from the proctor ensuring an almost guaranteed hit. If the technique strikes them both the two Genin would be met with incredible blunt force. Enough to throw them both against the desks behind them. The edge was controlled to be much more dull than usual only causing the equivalent of a paper cut, though its blunt damage focus would surely leave a deep, purple welt in a streak across their torsos.

"That is enough!" Doctor Naji demanded as his voice filled the room. "What madness has consumed you both? Are you really so foolish to have forgotten your objectives?!" Reaching under his desk he retrieved his walking cane. Given its design it was suggested it was used as a weapon as its stout iron head worked more or less like a mace. He'd pace over to the students but slowly, using his cane to assist as he did. "Have you two imbeciles forgotten the objective? Your question is: when all is lost and you are confronted with an impossible task, what course of action should you take? Not overcoming some arbitrary interpretation of what this written exam is supposed to be. Ikomiki, you have proven to be incredibly unstable and remorseless over the harm you have befallen on your classmate. Zen, you have shown your lack of judgement and lack of ability to assess the situation. You are both incredible volatile given any change in circumstances and I can say I am the least impressed by your antics."

Doctor Naji approached the fallen girl and kneel'd down to her level on the floor. He could hear she was still breathing, but a slight gurgling upon her breaths. He'd roll the girl onto her side shifting her head while doing so allowing the bit of blood in her mouth to pour out. There wasn't a lot, but if he hadn't drained the blood there was no telling if she would have caused serious damage to her lungs. He retrieved a handkerchief from his coat and stuffed it in the woman's mouth where Ikomiki's punch caused lacerations. There was not much else he could do but wait for her recovery. Placing his cane onto the ground he'd lift himself up back on both feet. "If I catch any of you skirmishing among each other again you will not only be disqualified, but I will report your actions to your Kage and your punishment will be decided from there." Turning around he would glare at both Ikomiki and Zen before passing by them both to return to his desk where he will take a seat but this time keep a watchful eye over Ikomiki and Zen.
