    Mission Name: The Message
    Mission Type: Investigation/Guarding
    Mission Rank: B
Mission Goal: Learn the true story behind the delivery, dispose of the drugs and protect the crew.
Description: Captain Malcom Reynolds gets a strange delivery to his secret smuggling camp. It’s the body of an old army buddy that turns out to be being used as a drug mule for the Alliance. When drugs and the Alliance are involved violence always ensues, so your job is to protect the crew while getting rid of the drugs.
    Payment: 25,000 ryo
    Requirements: C-Class, Completed ‘Trash’

    -
What do you get when you get mailed a dead body?

Drugs apparently, and Reynolds is not happy. Nor is Zoe it would seem, but that would make sense since the two of them were from the same unit. Along with the dead man. Simon had performed an autopsy only to discover the man’s corpse was being used as a storage container for drugs. That’s what infuriated Mal and Zoe so badly. However to make it all even better. The Alliance tracked the shipment and sent teams to recover the body, drugs included, and kill everyone involved. Now they were preparing for the Alliance attack coming, they were forming up, and the non-combatants were busily building a large pyre. They needed to dispose of the drugs and the body and sending their comrade out ‘in style’ was something both Mal and Zoe wanted to do. A sentiment that Tamwyn could readily get behind. So the combatants were going to buy time for the pyre to be built.

So Tamwyn and Yenn were waiting for the attack to start, letting the Alliance throw their punch before returning with a much bigger one. Once they cleared the field, they would dispose of the body of their comrade in the pyre with respect. The Alliance dogs? They could be had by the vultures as far as they were concerned.

The Alliance were truly terrible people. First they put Mal and Zoe’s army buddy’s body in the mail. That was horrible in its own right, but second they filled that body with illegal drugs. ‘Illegal’ drugs was an interesting term, she had yet to find where that line actually lay. Yenn was heartbroken for the crew, just learning that your friend was dead was bad enough. But then to have those monsters disrespect even the memory of him by chopping up and disfiguring his body? And for what, money? It was disgusting. So disgusting that Yenn had to make herself scarce while the crew set about making plans for a pyre and a funeral. The last thing she thought would help was her being sick while they were all mourning.

She moved away from the camp waiting for the attack to start, since apparently the Alliance didn’t know how to let things go. She was quiet as she sat near Tamwyn, trying her best to not look as incapable as she currently felt. As expected the Alliance came in droves, always overcompensating those ones were, and with a heavy sigh she would stand and make her way onto the field. Firing off beams of energy and bolts of lightning at anyone who went after her or Tamwyn. She still hadn’t had time to properly process how she felt about killing people. But with every body that fell to her hand she felt a bit more darkness creep into her heart. She would need to talk with Tamwyn about it soon, he was her light and if anyone could help, it was him.

Yenn sat near him as the attack was getting ready to get underway and he’d move to give her a one armed hug. They would sit there for a few moments, letting the quiet settle around them before a horn would blow. Tamwyn’s eyes would roll at that “Announcing their attack, they sure aren’t shinobi.” He would say quietly as the first group came into the clearing. Tamwyn lost track of time for a while, lightning crackled around him in a vicious swirl as he moved with inhuman speed between targets. He wasn’t aware of how many people Yenn was taking out of the picture but he moved on sheer instinct and killed people left and right. The Alliance had thrown a lot of people at this and it made Tamwyn wonder what the value of the drugs that was about to be burned was. The fight couldn’t have lasted long, because fights never did. However when it was done he felt himself panting heavily, covered in blood with Yenn not far from him. He turned toward the pyre that was lighting the area.

Surrounding it was the Serenity crew, Malcolm and Zoe were the most prominent as they were the ones with the history with their army buddy. The rest though were nearby, lending silent support. Tamwyn nodded as they watched the body of their friend burn. In this way, fire really was cleansing. At least in many beliefs it was. It purified the body of its physical form and freed the soul. It also burned up an unknown amount of ryo in the process. Because drugs are expensive kids. They stood there around the fire all night and the Alliance sent more people, unaware that they were already too late. Tamwyn fought, Yenn would fight too he was sure. When dawn approached the next morning the fire had burnt itself out and the all in it was cleansed. The bones of their comrade were burnt and blackened and the drugs inside had been destroyed by the flames. The Alliance forces had stopped coming a while ago but Tamwyn still felt the fatigue of combat in his bones. If he was this tired, how exhausted was Yenn? Mal moved over to them, solemn and quiet, nodding his head in appreciation for their efforts and telling them to get some rest. That they would handle clean up. Nodding at him and Zoe quietly, Tamwyn would make to lead Yenn toward their bunk. A shower and a long sleep was in order.

Yenn leaned her head against Tamwyn as he placed an arm around her. She didn’t have the words to explain how she was feeling right at that moment, but his stalwart presence did wonders for her and as a horn sounded she would rise to her feet to meet the incoming attackers. As usual Tamwyn was a blur of lightning and power, taking out anyone in his path. It was inspiring to see and spurred Yenn on to do the same. Activating her Cloud Cloak she couldn’t quite match Tamwyn’s speed, but she came a lot closer and that was good enough for now until she got stronger.

Allowing the crew to grieve was important to her and so she went all out, sprinting into position and firing off beams of storm release and lightning at those closest and then moving to do it again. The Alliance just kept coming and after a time she felt herself nearing total exhaustion, sinking to her knees in the middle of the field and awaiting either death, sleep or Tamwyn. She knew which one she would prefer, but she was so tired she was willing to accept whichever came to her first. Fortunately it was Tamwyn, her first choice. And as he led her back to the camp and their bunk she followed along sleepily, she didn’t even have the energy to say anything to the crew. She was sick beyond belief and couldn’t muster the strength in her own muscles to allow her body to deal with it. As soon as her head hit the pillow she would pass out, as somehow a pillow was the universal cue for ‘sleep now’. Her slumber was deep and dreamless, the kind borne of overwhelming weariness and she was glad for it. About a month worth of that type of sleep was what she needed.
