Learning Jutsu:

Nakaba sat in the dark focusing and attuning himself to the environment around him. He always hated the dark. It wasn't that he was afraid of it. The Sun's light invigorated him, and brought him energy. Even on dark nights in his hometown the dawn lit the world and the stars filled the land with light. "Focus Toru!" Nakaba could feel the dark-skinned friar walking laps around him as he had for the last three months. "I can feel your chakra reaching out. Quiet your mind." His heart was fluttering and anxious as the world grew tepid. He pulled away from the heat. No, he could feel that that was wrong. A few more hand seals, and he'd reconstitute focus from nothing. Refusing still to smother his light and his heat, Nakaba instead sheltered it. He covered it just enough that it's light was too faint to be seen, yet he could feel its warmth, its vibrancy, like it was raging cupped between his fingers. He could feel his chakra moving differently now. He could almost feel the flow of it as it flowed through his body this was different than when he would inspect it. He would fade into the darkness as his training clicked.

Learning Jutsu:

Now in the courtyard three paper birds controlled by the friar's chakra would dance in circles. Nakaba standing next to the Mocking puppet would gauge the angle adjustment by feel. The puppet, made to use kenjutsu techniques, would give a mighty swing of the Monarch's Scales creating a large gust. Four hand seals were made in quick succession, and Nakaba would amplify the mass with his chakra as well as increase their power. The mass would grow to thirty meters wide hitting all three paper birds crumpling them entirely with the sheer force of the blast. Nakaba would repeat the process. This time sending consecutive wind blasts and sporadically increasing the size of some of them. Dozens of independently flying paper birds would be barraged by an equal number of blasts taking them out individually and in clusters as the friar began to gain a feel for Nakaba's pacing.

"Well done Nakaba. Let's see about the other model adjustment that you created." Nakaba would have the puppet switch its focus now it would begin launching bullets of water, each requiring greater precision than the futon adjustment. It would take Nakaba a few minutes, but eventually he'd hit the first bird, clipping its wings. It wouldn't be long after that he'd riddle one with holes, and soon all of the friar's birds would come crashing down. "Well then Nakaba, I believe that should be about it for today, your chakra reserves look pretty tapped." Nakba would bow and excuse himself barely having enough chakra for the walk he'd have to make to the temporary quarters he was staying in. He really was no good with puppet. his technique was sloppy and jagged. Mocking would slowly collapse onto the floor, and Nakaba would take a deep inhale and silently begin his post training work out.

Learning Jutsu:

Picturing an invisible foe Nakaba would slowly construct each element of them: Height, build, hair, eyes, posture, and demeanor. It was always the same image of the vision that haunted him. The ghost of his past the man that executed his grandfather. Nakaba sunk into his stance his skin going taut like leather grinding against itself. An illusion of himself would appear beside him as he quickly side stepped to the right, his illusion mirroring him and going to the left. A powerful punch from illusion and physical form alike as the ghost would duck beneath their blows doing a rasteira de costa and, sweeping through the clone, clipping Nakaba's leg to send him tumbling off balance. The genin would catch himself with an open hand, springing to the side and twisting as the ghost followed up with a straight kick redirecting his momentum. Regaining his footing Nakaba would send two clones to appear mid swing attacking the ghost with a kick to the core and eyes respectively. The ghost easily saw through the illusions, and with a running start pivoted, rotating 180 degrees and delivered a now successful straight kick that sent Nakaba flying out of the door, his clones vanishing as he was sent out of range.

The Ghost leapt from the room into the courtyard Nakaba had been launched into coming down with a powerful axe kick. Still recovering Nakaba received it with an over-headed crossed arms block, the force still disrupting his stance as the pressure slid his foot. Another clone would leap from the shadows behind Nakaba again delivering a kick to the ghost's face. Nakaba knew already that this ghost could see through his illusion, at least on the surface level. Rotating into position behind the airborne ghost, Nakaba disengaged with him and delivered a lead leg round kick as he landed. Nakaba quickly followed up using the same leg for a  round kick to the head, another to the hip, and then a powerful one to the liver. The ghost who, just moments ago, could react to Nakaba's telegraphed moves had to clench his side as he wrapped around Nakaba's leg and was launched into one of the courtyard's walls. With a flick of his wrist, Nakaba and two new clones would each send three kunai flying at the ghost. Sprinting with perfect form in their wake Nakaba reengaged the ghost, attempting to maintain their disorientation, but they quickly regathered themselves, that trick wasn't going to work twice.

Learning Jutsu:

Nakaba closed the distance easily, and initiated a Spinning Crumbling Boulder. Pivoting and grabbing onto the cloak of the other ninja Nakaba spun on their heel more slamming the ghost into the wall and bouncing them back in his direction. The ghost would be met with a round house kick relaunching them into the wall where they would catch themselves this time. A swarm of bees would fly out at Nakaba who would free fall and twist into a queda de rins and like a spring explode into a kick to their gut. Drawing their sword, Nakaba would cut down the bees in his way as he'd immediately start sprinting after the ghost. Sliding to a stop the two would send a barrage of punches and kicks at one another with an open palm the genin would catch some of the punches he couldn't dodge angling his palm out to deflect the brunt of their weight. Twenty seconds moving to speed, then thirty seconds would pass before Nakaba would get another successful hit in: a kick to the chin. Shaken but not stunned the ghost would take a step back and launch a series of powerful blasts at Nakaba who would zig zag closer. Weave. An explosion where he'd just been standing. Weave. Another one meter away from his current location. Weave. One more attempted to intercept him, but he would duck under it and close back in on the ghost.

Learning Jutsu:

Nakaba pulled something from his pocket and flicked it into his mouth. Within a moment he'd lose focus and start chuckling. Just one meter away, eyes completely white, and a devilish smile on his face Nakaba would send his fist at the ghost's face. By a hair's breadth the ghost would avoid his blow, confidence unshaken he'd grab Nakaba's arm throwing him across the field as another barrage of bees came. Again Nakaba would mow through them with the sword as he made his way back to the ghost who was in a ready stance. With a wide swing Nakaba would attempt to end him all at once slicing the man from his left shoulder down through his hip. The ghost stepped in with a simple, but effective, block and hit the genin's wrist, knocking the sword from his grip. Wide open, Nakaba couldn't stop a clean hit to his sternum from the ghost. A second strike came for his chin from the left, but, clutching his chest for a moment Nakaba would rock back bending at the hips letting the swing sail past his jaw, and he'd follow up with a shallow right hook, planning to miss, and he would swing his foot the other ninja's instep. He had placed his back to the ghost's chest and already had his left hand reaching back. A quick grab and he'd throw the ghost in front of him the ghost leveraging him over his hips. Nakaba would yawn as he stumbled towards the prone ghost.

Learning Jutsu:

The ghost bounced once on the ground sideways and then bounced up again, but this time they reoriented themselves to be right side up. As the ghost stood Nakaba was moving into close range closing the distance to less than a meter the two would play footsies as they crossed the courtyard. Nakaba would lash out first with a powerful punch using his left arm, and holding his right to his chin, like he was playing a flute, ready to guard. The ghost would weave under it rotating his hips as his back leg would come up to crack Nakaba's left ribs. The waiting right hand would fall down and catch the kick and Nakaba would activate his sensory technique, attuning himself, in a moment to the ghost's chakra system. Maintaining his grip on the leg Nakaba would spin along the length of the leg 270 degrees as he'd use Crumbling Boulder, using his center of gravity as a rotating fulcrum. A vicious spinning elbow would land cleanly on the ghost's chin, dazing him for a moment as the mask would crack. It was apparent to Nakaba that his opponent wasn't a taijutsu user, so he would reverse the flow of the ghost's chakra ending the technique he'd been using to increase his coordination, before throwing him into another wall.

Learning Jutsu:

Crashing into another wall, the ghost would have chakra strings trailing behind him each connected to Nakaba's Palm. Chakra would lace through the ghost attaching them firmly to the solid mass behind them. It would take a kugutsu genius decades to figure out how to control the human body. To paralyze it and make it unable to move would require a level of expertise that would easily grant that ninja the title of master in their field. The locomotion of the human body is second nature to every martial artist. The constant flow of pushing and pulling forces making your opponent's body launch and crumble is the air a taijutsu specialist breathes. Nakaba would activate Needles sending the threads looping through the ghost, and sewing him together in a way that when the effect of stitches was ended he could simply tug and have the ghost limbs tied behind their back. Painful as the needles were they were basically harmless. It would take an incredible effort to do great harm with them, and Nakaba didn't have appropriately large chakra reserves to make that happen. Nakaba would leap forward, punching the ghost in the sternum, and disabling the stickers Jutsu. With the twitch of his fingers the threads would tighten and the ghost would be hogtied with their hands facing away from each other.

Learning Jutsu:

Closing his hands into a tight Snake hand seal the strings laced through the ghost would extend weaving into a tight basket. A moment would pass, two, and then three before Nakaba would fall to a knee his chakra reserves at a dramatically low percent. Inside the ball Chakra String: Needles would be continuing to pierce and lace around launching from one side of the orb to the other through the ghost within. Sweat poured down Nakaba's face as he could feel himself sobering up. The dim numbness of alcohol was quickly being replaced by vivid images of grandmothers and grandfathers lying dead in the streets of his hometown Nakaba came to Iwa for strength and answers, and left knowing no more than he arrived with. Blood seeped through the woven ball he'd created as well as from the tightened fist he held out towards it. With tears in his eyes, he'd completely forgotten that he'd started this as a wind down exercise. His chakra had always been off balance, but never more than after he'd found his grandfather. As strong as his body may have been he'd never wounded someone so severely as his mind often did to him.

"Young Tōru." As a dark-skinned hand touched his shoulder, Nakaba reeled away, flinching as his combat instincts hadn't been disengaged yet. "This illusion has gone far enough has it not?" Nakaba would resolve the ephemeral glare he'd placed on himself before. Using what was close to the last of his chakra, Nakaba would dispel a genjutsu the blood from the orb would fade and Nakaba would release his Kugutsu techniques revealing no body as the Jutsu faded away. Looking around the courtyard Nakaba could see the disturbance he'd caused had left an impact of the otherwise serene setting. The friar would gently smile at him and set him to work. He may be here to exercise his demons, but the friar didn't believe in freeloaders. Pale and tool kit in hand Nakaba set off to work fixing the place back up.
