Halcyon Yomi vs Shimiko Chinoike

You begin standing on opposite sides of the arena. 50 meters behind you is the arena circular wall.
100 meters are between you and the very center of the circular arena.
And 200 meters separate the two competitors.

It is a circular arena, the fighting stage is a a 300 meters diameter circle composed of sand, dirt, sweat and the pride of defeated opponents.  The spectators' area is composed of three levels, each one higher than the one below it. It has a capacity for tens of thousands of people. Shimiko stepped out into the arena proper wearing her signature Chinowakugumi Armour. The armour was made by her dear friend Ryuko and it seemed to shine in the light as the tonnage of blood sealed within gestated inside just begging to be released. The blonde was strapped with all of her weapons. The Six Sai of Serration and Twin Tessen placed at strategic points around her hips, back, and shoulders for easy access during the fight. A simple pouch containing the remaining kunai was strapped to her thigh. The kunoichi's appearance was absolutely stunning as the armour had been made to look elegant while still retaining functionality. Her glorious pigtails were done up in their usual manner and the excess hair that usually formed her bangs were parted neatly to one side. She wielded a pair of Kālīkoroshimasu on both of her forearms. The black senbon shooter-melody arm hybrids primed and ready to go at a moment's notice. As soon as Shimiko entered the arena she clasped her hands in prayer and begged Jashin for mercy and forgiveness for not being able to kill her opponent during this match. The Faithful of the Church were in attendance of course raising their hands in prayer and cheering on the Defender of their Faith.

Lei had quit their match which was rather disappointing. She was looking forward to fighting the Inazuma Clan leader. The two clans had been close for centuries and it would have been great to bond with the Boy Wonder through combat. It appeared he had better things to do and so he forfeited. She tried not to take it as a slight or an insult but she knew that they'd need to speak about it inevitably. For now she focused on her new opponent: Halycon Yomi.

Shimiko had never fought in front of an audience this big. In fact, she hadn't really fought in front of many massive audiences before. She loved the attention and limelight and gave a friendly wave to the crowd while remaining on guard. She took careful note of the arena and kept in mind its dimensions and properties as she formulated a few strategies. She could imagine a few of the people in attendance watching her. Akame was sure to be among them as was Sakata. Her parents would definitely not be here and the twins were probably busy with their own Chuunin Exam trials. She knew Ryuko was in the tournament but not Natsuru which was a shame. It would have been great to have the squad dominate until they were forced to fight each other but alas it was not meant to be. Nevertheless she was fully prepared to make her friends and family proud.

Yomi looked at the bland, slightly moldy walls of the inner sanctum, gently touching the stone with her newly acquired gloves as she passed through the corridor towards the arena, the sharpened fingertips of the gauntlets leaving deep scratchmarks as she finally managed to arrive into the basking glory of the crowd spectating this event. It had been quite a while since she had truly let loose and now, right there on the other side of the arena, there was a willing opponent to allow her such luxury, such exilleration. At the other side of the circular field of combat  was the one Yomi was supposed to be facing in this first round of hers: Shimiko Chinoike. Despite never having heard of this...shinobi, the Kirigakure jounin was quite certain that no one would be foolish enough to enter this tournament without actually having some worth as a warrior.

Adorned with her teal blue body armor, protective gloves, boots, pants and cloak, Yomi entered the field, looking up and breathing in deeply as she mentally prepared for what was about to come. With her hair pulled into a short pony, her gray eyes slowly turned down towards Shimiko again after having scanned not only the sky, but the entire crowd as well. She was pleased, even if she had no idea what her opponent was capable of, Yomi had no doubt that she'd be having fun and that was after all the main reason of being here after all.

Clenching her hands into fists and relaxing them again, Yomi allowed herself to feel more comfortable with her newest pair of gloves. Noticing that the senbon launcher around her right wrist placed snuggly around those new gloves compared to her old pair. "Hmm..." She gave no thought to what came next, simply deciding that a swift and surprising action would be more than enough to try and test the waters a bit.

Forcing her chakra to start pumping through her system like a wild fire, the jounin's muscles bulged slightly, her veins popping out a bit and her hair standing on end when she was ready in a single instant. "Let's see what you can do," Running straight at her opponent, Yomi reached for both her hip pouches with both of her hands, grabbing three shuriken with each hand and throwing them at her opponent in a slight arc coming from each side. Instantly she started weaving a multitude of signs in a swift successive manner, making the Ox, Dog, Dragon, Rat, Dog, Boar, Snake and Tiger faster than most regular shinobi were able to due to her near perfect coordination, making it so that not six, but a whopping and rather overwhelming Seventy-eight shuriken now made their way towards Shimiko.

The second her opponent stepped out of the tunnel and into the arena Shimiko activated her Ketsuryugan. Her normally light green bordering on blue eyes shifted into a bright red with a large black center. A single horizontal white pupil then took its place in her black and red colored eyes. Shimiko gave a confident smile to her opponent and watched as the woman dashed towards her. Just as Yomi reached for her ninja pouch, Shimiko would form a single seal. The woman wasn't particularly fast but the way she handled her weapons was on a level that she had only seen from the most elite of ANBU. The shuriken were thrown and following a string of handseals were multiplied exponentially. Shimiko countered via the Bloodwave technique expelling six cubic meters of her own blood from the Creation of All Blood enchantment that was interwoven into her armour. A circular dome of blood rushed out of her armour with explosive force as it formed a bubble-like defense to the sea of shuriken that threatened her. The speed and force of the blood was more than enough to knock away the projectiles. Once it had performed its task of knocking away the 78 shuriken, Shimiko used her latent manipulation abilities to collapse the dome as it reached its maximum range. Yomi, who had been running towards her, would be less than 50 meters away when Shimiko effortlessly guided the six cubic meters of blood into a series of crushing waves aimed at knocking the woman's feet from under her. The amount of blood was significant and it showered the area as groups of the concussive waves aimed to knock her down aiming from her feet but also towering above to splash down on her head. Not only would the blood try knocking her down it would also blind her as streams of the blood moved in an unnatural manner guided by human intelligence to seep into her eyes, mouth, nose, and ears.

Aside from making a Tiger seal after the Bloodwave's creation, Shimiko remained stationary through all of this. She placed her hands behind her back settling them on a pair of criss-crossed Sai that were secured in a holder in the lower back portion of her armour. Her sense of vision was impeccable and despite the large crowd of people watching, she could see her twins through her peripheral vision. They were cheering loudly for her and wearing a cute outfit. The image made her smile but she didn't take her eyes off Yomi and she gauged the woman's reactions even now. While Yomi dealt with the mass of blood that had gathered against her from above, some of it would seep into the earth. A single drop being enough to gather iron from the ground before it was then transfigured into more blood. A single cubic meter of the blood would then be moved under the ground to wherever Yomi might move to avoid the waves of blood on the surface of the arena.

"Ok did not expect that..." Was all that Yomi could utter when she noticed a shadow looming overhead, making her happy about her rather sluggish nature for once. Had she been any speedier, she'd have been forced into a defensive position already. However, her initial attack, even if it had failed to achieve anything at first sight, it actually opened up a world of possibilities for Yomi and granted her quite some information.

Shimiko had some pretty amazing defence and she was quick to deploy it, to which Yomi instantly deducted that it had to either be a bloodline or an enchantment similar to her own Grand condensation, a way to allow for such a large amount of liquid to be expelled or summoned within an instant was very useful after all, even if others like for instance raiton or katon users could not truly understand its use, Yomi did and admired the Kumogakure shinobi for that wise choice. Alas, this was a fight, a battle and she would not be bested by someone who'd be so...predictable to use a full, allround defense against her shuriken. It made it painfully clear that this one was not willing to close the distance herself and probably was the type of trying to end battles with decisive strikes from a distance: smart, but predictable and even dangerous against an allrounder like the Kirigakure shinobi she was facing.

All it took was a simple set of handseals Snake, Ox and snake again, at which point Yomi extended a single arm to cover herself within a strong shell of fast running water, which should've been perfectly capable of protecting herself from the incoming wave of blood crashing down upon the arena. What it also did though, was provide her with a means to attack if she wanted to, but for now...she'd annoy her opponent by setting up a perfect defense.

Notes:

Shimiko watched as Yomi erected a powerful Suiton defense in response to the blood onslaught. Like her opponent she found the choice to be rather boring although somewhat strategic. The kunoichi manipulated her blood to cover the water dome entirely. This ensured that Yomi's vision was totally obscured as every square inch of her self-imposed prison would be covered by the thick red liquid. Shimiko's own vision would be as clear as day due to the innate Chinoike ability to see through their own blood with the Ketsuryugan. Shimiko pressed her blood against it and found the dome to be totally unyielding. No matter she thought sweetly to herself. The girl couldn't breath underwater and even if she could the dome would likely be costly to maintain. Shimiko held her position and kept her blood on the dome so that the second the dome was released Yomi would be threatened anew by the same torrent. While the six cubic meters of blood encapsulated her opponent on the surface, a large amount was steadily being created directly underneath her. Two cubic meters of iron-rich liquid that had been converted into blood and was just begging to be released. Shimiko released more blood from the Creation of All Blood enchantment in her armour. The substance leaked from her boots and rapidly spread around the arena. Unlike the first volley though, the amount being released was nothing short of apocalyptic.  A full metric ton was being systematically pumped out into the field and spreading from her at a rapid pace. The blood race across the arena covering a large portion of the ground they'd be fighting on. The distance between the two and a significant portion of the floor in every direction of the Kiri-Nin would be drenched in several inches of Shimiko's blood. The audience would be amazed as the blood scattered around the field momentarily shifted to form words that would be visible to them.


SHE FEARS ME...AND FOR GOOD REASON

The Chinoike was of course mocking Yomi's decision to go on the defensive so quickly. Hopefully the twins would be amused by the message and the Church would be whipped into a frenzy by it. Certainly many in the crowd would laugh at the observation. She wanted to give them a good show so she hoped that the laughter would spur Yomi into action even though the woman could not see the words. The blood then quickly reverted to its original position taking up nearly all the space between them and around Halycon in general. A few feet all around the dome would be uncovered by blood though. Shimiko flickered through a few handseals at a remarkable speed and several discs of electricity would materialize around her before being fired at her opponent. There were 15 discs in total and they homed in on Yomi from a variety of angles. Once making contact with the water that she had housed herself in, the electrical current from any one of the discs would be more than enough to electrocute her into a state of unconsciousness.  

The Jashinist for her part prepared another technique, sighed, and placed her hands back on her Sai.

"Hmm...so there's more blood than I thought," The kirigakure shinobi was pleased with this, but when she heard the jeering and the laughter outside of her own blood-envelopped prison, Yomi doubted it was because of something comical happening. This opponent was apparently doing something from the outside, something she couldn't see due to the blood all around her water prison. It was annoying not to be able to see what was going on and Yomi had to begrudgingly admit that perhaps going on the defensive in such a way that would trap one completely inside solitude wasn't exactly the wisest of choices if someone could cut their sense of sight off completely.

Seeing as her options were truly limited, the kirigakure shinobi lowered the chakra output from her Jigoku no Ken, deciding that for now additional strength and coordination were not exactly what she needed, not unless it would become a straight up brawl, so for now he ninjutsu would be more than fine to deal with this mess she got herself into.

Making the Ram and snake seal, the shinobi smiled and instantly forced the water surrounding her to expand greatly, violently and with almost no regard to the blood still washing on her prison. "time to wipe this area clean."

In but a fraction of an instant, the water prison exploded, engorging in size as a massive burst of waves came forth from the center in which Yomi stood, the waves violently crashing against and over the blood which had surrounded her. She didn't even notice the disks of lightning coursing through the air towards her, as the water of the exploding colliding wave would surely be enough to fizzle out those inferior sparks with its immense power and purity.

With the arena and the surrounding colliseum being relatively small, it wasn't impossible for the water to cover not only the field, but to spill and splash over into the spectator's area surrounding the field as well, which effectively made it so that Yomi was now taking the entirety of the spectators hostage to any raiton technique that wouldn't be overcome by her own water techniques. "Chemistry 101 dear, pure water doesn't conduct electricity and you haven't seen me use some mineral laden body of water, have you...perhaps you should be more careful with using raiton near that blood of yours though...not that much of it would be left anyway."

Not letting up though, Yomi suddenly followed up by making a succession of handseals as her water started to lower in volume, the ground soaking up a large portion of it. With the Rat, ox, snake and dog seals prepped, Yomi's arms rose upwards, with the water seemingly reacting and following suite, casting a shadow upon the entire colliseum when two tenty meter tall and forty meter long walls of water rose up. With a single clap of her hands, the water slammed together with full force, with Yomi deciding that if her exploding colliding wave wasn't enough, this would certainly force her opponent to change strategy.

OOC: Calling Hits

It appeared Yomi erroneously believed that her suiton would not conduct the electricity fired at her either that or she truly missed the attack altogether. Shimiko was more likely to believe the former though given the large number of discs that were used. In either event, the discs made contact with the water only moments after Yomi used her Colliding Water Waves technique. The woman would still be almost entirely submerged in water even as the excess swept forwards. The discs themselves wouldn't hit her but the projectiles would burst on contact with the waves running a powerful current of electricity through her body at close range. The force of the shock would damage the woman badly such that she was unable to perform her clapping wave technique and potentially leaving her at the mercy of her opponent. The Great Colliding Waves technique itself however would surge forward although Shimiko had prepared for it. Shimiko formed the Rabbit seal the second she saw the dome swell in size but just before waves had surged forward. She drew out more blood from her enchantment and the surrounding area, casting the Bloodwave technique a second time. She amplified it so that its speed and defensive capability matched the waves that threatened her. She reduced the conductivity of her blood to nil using her latent Chinoike Clan abilities not that she'd allow any of the water-contaminated blood to touch her directly anyways. The bubble like dome dispersed as the two elite techniques clashed but as it did the initial water waves had lost their momentum and she pushed what remained away from her gently using her own blood.

Yomi at this juncture would have sustained a non-insignificant stunning leaving her vulnerable to a follow up attack. Shimiko would simply release the two cubic meters of blood that had been building up directly beneath her. While the ground would normally become wet and muddy as the concentrated blood bubbled to the surface, the ground was already wet due to the Water Prison that Yomi had erected. This meant that the Kiri-Nin would have practically no prior warning of the danger to come and no protection from the Great Colliding Waves she had just loosed. She was also stunned and not likely to be able react in time.  The blood would erupt from the ground at a prodigious force amplified by Shimiko to reach a level of power that its original creator could only dream of. The blast of blood exploded upwards, directly beneath Yomi and before she could make the seals necessary for the Clapping Wave Technique. The force was more than enough to completely shatter her legs, knock her unconscious, ragdoll her several feet in the air, and send her back down to the earth with a thud. The crimson substance threatening to coat her entire body from below (point of eruption) and above (raining down in the aftermath).

Throughout all of this the Chinoike engaged in minimal movement. It would appear to most that she hadn't even budged from her starting position. Her hands remained behind her back on the handles of the criss-crossed Sai that were strapped to the lower back of her armour. A confident smile still etched on her lips.

Her teeth grit together as electricity violently coursed through her body, making her regret the fact that she was still connected to her water at the point when the discs she had not bothered to analyze made contact with said water. It was a dreadful, seriously unpleasant, but also somewhat exhillerating feeling. This opponent managed to hurt her, she managed to put her on her back foot. Even so, she could feel how her hands refused to follow her mental orders, how her fingers cramped a bit and seemed somewhat sluggish. no doubt an after effect of that feeling she had earlier, the feeling of being pinned down and unconscious for an instant. This was truly beginning to look like a bad match up, this Shimeko was dangerous and with both that raiton and her seemingly unlimited use of that blood, she was without a doubt one of Yomi's worst possible opponents.

But what was she planning, what was her aim, her goal, her strategy? She had covered her sight when the kirigakure shinobi had gone onto the defensive, she had used a technique which would and did electrocute her, but it appeared she remained unharmed despite the known conductivity of blood. Yomi understood exactly why she was smiling, why she seemed so calm, yet also so cocky. It was the very idea that she could not be touched, after all...she did have the upper hand the entire time and had yet to be dealt any damage.

With the distance to Shimeko still being about fifty meters, trying to surprise someone who was so obviously perceptive of her surroundings was perhaps not the best idea when taking in account the distance between them. However, as perceptive as she was, Yomi was smart, sure she had made a blunder with this raiton technique earlier, but it did help her to finally have a good insight on how her opponent seemed to fight. However, despite her still unwavering confidence...she had to come up with something fast. Making handseals would be a hassle at this point and in this state, forcing her mind to go through a thousand possibilities at once, a thousand ways to do something and a thousand ways to fail or flounder a chance.

It hit her like a ton of bricks, there was only one way it would all play out, and to act on that...Yomi had to do the one thing she really didn't want to do so soon in this tournament, but with this opponent, she had no other choice. She HAD to go all out no matter the result or the cost, this opponent deserved it.

Forcing her chakra to rage within her, yomi re-activated her Jigoku no ken to its full power, but what she did after must've been a rare and relartively unknown sight to the world. Heck, she hadn't shown anyone this form and had hoped to keep it as such, but this opponent, this warrior standing before her was absolutely worth this absolute power that she had held within her. In a mere instant, Yomi's skin had lost its tan color, becoming more of an alabaster tone. her hair went from jet black to the disgusting pure white she had hated for so long, growing in length, yet remaining tied into a tail. However, perhaps most sinister, was the fact she now had two cold, icy blue eyes, which instantly turned black as night, signifying the use of her Daemon Kata as well. "Filth."

As she slammed her thumbs against her thighs, she suddenly burst away from her position in the blink of an eye, running straight towards Shimeko at a speed Yomi would not have been able to display when she would not have taken this kumo-nin serious and covering the distance of fifty meters in less than a second, less than a heartbeat. Her idea was simple, in that instant she'd need to cover the distance between herself and Shimeko, she'd simply go for the kumo nin herself, she'd grab for two of the explosive tags within one of her hip pouches and try to attach them to the woman's chest, intending to use the residual momentum of stopping straight in front of the woman to continue that movement of attaching those tags with a double palmed chrysantemum strike aimed at Shimeko's chin to send her flying upwards before setting off the tags in a surprise by making the appropriate handseal with the hands on her back.

OOC: Calling Hits

The Iron Geyser erupted from beneath Yomi with explosive force. It appeared that the attack had launched while Yomi was still recovering from the initial stunning effect inflicted by the electrical discs. Unbeknownst to Shimiko, Yomi had attempted to gather natural energy in lieu of directly dealing with the threat below. It proved to be a near fatal error. The force and power of the technique was amplified such that it carried enough pressure to completely break Yomi's legs in multiple places. The woman was launched several feet into the air before landing on her head. Given the sheer power of the jutsu it was a miracle that she had not been killed. It would have been enough to terminate most people but a combination of luck, armour, and sound constitution ensured that the woman would live. Unfortunately, she'd still sustain serious injuries and this taken in conjunction with the electrocution she had received earlier would most certainly put her out for the count. Residual blood continued to rain down in the aftermath of the attack, covering the woman almost totally in the substance as Shimiko remained in her starting position. "Tch" she said as she shook her head in surprise at the match finishing so quickly and decisively.

If by some miracle Yomi were not to be turned into a living Rocket by the geyser, Shimiko would not stand idly by. Certainly not even prior to the geyser's eruption or shortly thereafter. Acting shortly after the discs had made contact, the woman gathered the large amount of blood around her and began to form a defense increasing its density via Plasticity. If Yomi managed to charge her she'd travel 30 meters before possibly hitting the barrier which would have grown to a height of at least a foot. It was durable and high enough to cause her to trip and it extended 10 feet across forcing her to either halt her momentum and go around or jump over it. The problem for Yomi however was that such a barrier would likely not even be visible given the speed she was moving at in relation to her own perception. Shimiko for her part could perfectly track the woman although the act of watching her movements commanded her complete visual focus.

Having soundly and completely defeated her opponent while barely moving a muscle, Shimiko slid one foot behind the other and raised every ounce of blood into the sky. She gestured upwards with her right hand as she did so levitating the mass of liquid from every point on the field. All of the blood that would have been poured on Yomi's crumpled and defeated form would rise to join the sea of blood in the air. Shimiko continued to raise the blood until it was on the same level as her twins. They were cheering for her and congratulating her on her victory which warmed her heart. As a return gesture of affection she manipulated the blood to form the words right in front of the twins but large enough so that pretty much everyone in the arena could see.

A heart symbol would be made underneath the words and Shimiko would give a friendly wave to the twins before turning and exiting the arena. The blood would then fall back down to the arena like rain. Halycon Yomi wasn't tough at all put perhaps her future opponents would put up more of a fight.

Exit
