Ulfric has a way with finding that last bit of strength to carry on despite the odds. Some call him incorrigibly stubborn, some call him strong-willed, and others think he's tenacious. The names, nor the means, matter much to this man. All that matters is that he remains standing like the mountains where he came from. In taking on that spirit, Ulfric becomes more resilient to damage.

Bend like Bamboo - Stat Trade
Even a man as stubborn as Ulfric understands a mountain is but stone were it not for the vegetation and the trees growing over it. It is in that philosophy that the man understands one must, at times but not too often, give leeway to the visions of others - a trait taught by his former wife. During the moments Ulfric cedes his 'Mountain Spirit' in favour of the 'Bamboo Way', he gains +1 tier to coordination at the cost of -1 tier to strength.

Hidden Reserves - Chakra Replenishment
The first time in any thread Ulfric's chakra reaches 30 or less points, he regains chakra equal to 15% of his maximum pool. While this grants him the strength to go on just a bit longer than usual, it also imposes a -1 tier to CON for the remainder of the thread as this surge of energy depletes his physical resilience.

Stick in the Mud - Experience Advantage
Ulfric was a man settled in his ways. He had a wife. He had a newborn kid. He was a man who had made it early in his life. Never would a man imagine such a lovely life could be stripped away so brutaly; never would a man believe he'd one day have to abandon his old ways to walk along new paths. Experienced in life, Ulfric gains 800 extra starting experience but will have to work down his old ways if he wishes to grow further in his future.

"He would make a great father...", were words Ulfric often heard. And many believed that when his firstborn entered the world, the man's life was finally complete. While Ulfric was not given the chance to unveil his skills as a father, his abilities remain dormant until someone is willing to learn from this man. Students of Ulfric gain 5 experience more when threading with him, while Ulfric lowers his gained exp by the same amount.

Established Man - Money Start
A man who has granted the opportunity to build up his life is a man who has been able to put money to the side for his future. The money that had been intended for the future of his son now serves to find himself a new home. Ulfric starts with an additional 100'000 ryo, but needs to repay a 150'000 in total.


Appearance:
Ulfric is a man as common as they come. A 181 cm in height, a 82 Kg in weight, and muscled from physical labour and life in the mountains. He is slightly tanned from being outside on a regular base and bears a somewhat scruffy look that goes with his wildlife lifestyle. His black hair is generally a short mess sticking to all side which he hardly bothers to comb. His warm brown eyes have the look of a man who has known both charity and grief loss. His beard, usually kept short and proper, has now become a grown mess as he wanders the world. Arms, chest and legs are naturally hairy but thanks to the bear tattoo on his shoulder, it hasn't prevented his wife from calling him a grizzly.

Ulfric dresses simple. A solid shirt or sweater, if need be a waterproof coat against the weather, and a pair of cargo pants partially overlapping earth brown boots. He's no man for the fancier parts of society but won't shy away if he gets an invitation to a feast. He might even better combing his hair for the occasion.

Personality:
Like the tattooed bear on his shoulder, Ulfric is somewhat of a solitary being when it comes to handling his affairs and a traditionalist in the way he manages his household. He is a firm believer it is his duty to work hard for the benefit of his family, to hunt and to keep up a form of battle capability so as to protect the household from danger. His solitary nature keeps this attitude towards himself for as long as he is alone, but when he shares his heart with another he is a resolute and loyal partner.

Ulfric is also a passionate man with as much intention to use his physical power to solve a situation as he is protective of the weaker. While not exactly a chivalrous knight and not exactly keen on making the effort of a detour either, he holds nonetheless a soft spot for those obviously weaker than him. This often drives him to drop his robust, grumpy side in favour of a gentler, nurturing side that may lead him to protect or mentor others towards the betterment of their future.

The man has always had a love for nature and the outside, and is known to make long treks through forest and mountain alike. He loves a good climb that puts his muscles to good use and enjoys the hard-earned view of the vista the top of the mountain brings him. Likewise, he's not shy of a good swim in the river and takes a liking to the challenging art of spear-fishing. The most surprising might be his talent for sketching and realistic portraits.

History:
Ulfric was never meant to be a shinobi. He was meant to be a hunter, just like his father. Too bad for the old man his boy had no knack for the bow and would sooner shoot his own foot than the nearby deer ready for dinner. So instead Ulfric was to become a simple wayfare. Chop wood, guide the people across wildlife and occasionally check for traps. A simple job with a simple life. He had a knack for drawing but his parents didn't consider that a talent worthy of development. Life was rough but it was good.

He met his future wife rather early in life, being 16, and the two seemed to get along just well. She was a smart lass capable of putting his brain to work; a challenge in her own right who didn't shy away from working for a future with a rich amount of kids. Four kids, she wanted of him, much to the man's quiet worries as that would mean precious little quietude in the house. He'd settle for two at most but by the time the two were married numbers were of lesser matter. All that they cared about was being together to build on a lifetime of wonders.

But life has a twisted way with lemons. And in Ulfric's case, it sure knew how to dump a ton of them over his head. The village they lived in had often suffered the oppression of a bandit lord, but in this particular winter where temperatures were harsher than usual, the bandits had been ruthless. The villagers were hesitant to give up what little crop the villagers had, and in an attempt to preserve it send out a messenger to the local lord - the boy never arrived, taken out by the scouts of the bandits. As a punishment, the bandits had raised the levy and with it raised the desperation of the village. It resulted in them standing up against the bandits in any way they could only to find bitter defeat. The village and the crops were burned down. None to rescue them from the bandits; no tales of heroism to be sung. It was on that dark day Ulfric lost his house, wife and kid. He had survived the night despite his wounds... yet had wished he could rest with them.

With nothing left to live for in this region of the world, the man now searches for new purpose and a new life.
