After leaving the Sunagakure War Council, Shin went directly to the Sand Forge where he had once been trained in the arts of war. Once upon these sands, Shin's smal body had been put under immense stress and intensive training in order to forge the outstanding shinobi he had become. It was only fitting that the re-forging of his human body occurred here as well. As such, Shin made sure to book a private room (of which only a select few people even knew the existence of) underneath one of the Sand Forge's oldest buildings.
Now that he entered it and noticed he was alone however, the pressure of what he was about to do finally came crashing down on him. Shin was decided to go through with this, but it was still an enormous decision. He was going to modify his own body and become a perfect work of art, something eternal. Something else. But first things first, he needed to make sure he was safe. Although Shin was planning to abandon most of his human form, it was impossible to completely abandon it. A part of him would always be human and that would be the "Core" of his being, his essence. Measures needed to be taken in order to protect this core.
And measures began being taken months ago, when the first Kazekage started designing what he called "The Devil's Heart", a sphere designed to protect the core inside it. The structure itself was not hard to pick, the sphere was the most resistant solid and the one which better absorbed impacts. Fitting everything he needed and wanted inside such a small area however, was quite a challenge. It took many days and sleepless before Shin was able to develop the wonderful work of engineering that was the Devil's Heart. After the plan was created however, it was a simple matter of actually crafting the parts and assembling the puppet. That part was far easier for someone as experienced as Shin in these issues, but it also took it's time. A week passed before he was able to craft every part and assemble the whole puppet. After he was done tho, Shin couldn't help but be proud of his work.
The next work of Shin was the first of a planned set of ten. The JuuKage Set, the Ten Shadows, a collection of deadly puppets planned by Shin to be the ultimate puppet weapon on the battlefield. He started with the frontliner, Reaper. Reaper was a lot of work... Unlike the Devil's Heart, the Reaper had a vast array of different steel forms that needed to be forged. From the spine blades to the incredibly complex skull and teeth, the Reaper was complex to the bone. And to make things more complicated, Shin had to make every single bone in its body hollow, so it would be able to store poisonous gas inside. Forging a ribcage was rather simple, but creating a hollow ribcage? That was a whole different business. Aside from the bone hollowness, Shin had to carefully design the mechanisms that would allow the puppet's ribcage to open up and close back at will. It was a nifty trick that would allow Shin to potentially trap victims inside the Reaper. The hardest part to craft was definitely the teeth and their mechanisms. Inside each tooth Shin had to install a tiny spring mechanism that would allow the tooth to split apart once it penetrated something. The Reaper's canine teeth were not detachable, however, and required a certain finesse to craft. Shin had to carefully create a small channel from which poison would flow as soon as the canines buried into some tissue. Crafting the entire set of over a hundred teeth and attaching them to the skull was not a fun job, but Shin was sure it would be tremendously efficient in battle. After the steel skeleton was done, all that was left was shaping the heat-resistant cloth into a cloak that would hide the puppet's features. Sewing definitely wasn't Shin's favorite hobby, but the ninja's hands were quick to learn everything he tried and it was not long before the entire puppet was complete.
