Out of Hand, Out of Sight (Tengoku/Arisu) Empty Out of Hand, Out of Sight (Tengoku/Arisu)

Post by Nyguyen Uchiha Thu Mar 04, 2021 2:21 pm

Nyguyen had arrived at the hospital in record time. He carried his father to the cardiology wing and ordered the best specialists to take care of him. The Hokage refused to leave the old man's beside and had a make-shift office set up nearby. Over the next few days since Akihiro's death, the hardened Hokage felt his spirit weather as he endured a barrage of bad news. The first came in the form of military reports. With the trenches lost, the entire northern half of Konoha had become a brutal fighting field. Shipments were disrupted, civilian casualties through the roof, and scores of ninja had been killed, captured, or had deserted. The destruction of Hot Springs was a feather in Konoha's cap but the cost of losing where it mattered most was incalculably high. He'd need to shift things around, spend more on replacing those ninja that had been lost and shore up their defenses inside the village as they sent more off to the field. Apparently Seigi had requested a Kage Summit to which Nyguyen agreed albeit he was more than angry when he learned that Kumo had continued the war against Konoha while making a separate peace with Kiri. He'd need to raise that issue with Arisu personally.

The numbers and politics of the situation while difficult, were not soul-crushing. What truly began to wear on him was that his father was dying. No amount of Ijutsu could solve old age and the Senju Clan refused to help prolong Katahshi's life. Nyguyen and his family had visited his bedside and said their goodbyes, but that didn't make it any less easy. When the Hokage had a moment alone with his father, they spoke heart to heart. They talked about life, death, family, duty, and all the other things that Katahshi didn't think was worth speaking to with his son and Nyguyen was afraid to raise with his father. The scene that had played out in the court-dungeon made Katahshi realize what his only son had become over the course of his tenure as the Hokage. For years he had wanted his son to be a fierce, unyielding, and unstoppable warrior like Satomi. It angered him that he had inherited all of his own bookishness with none of the fire. Nyg's disposition was a constant source of tension between them and it took seeing Nyguyen as Hokage and arriving at death's door to finally show him that he was wrong. Nyguyen did have the capacity to be a fighter but without empathy and love in his heart, it would only turn him into the monster that Mack had become. Katahshi knew that before he passed, he'd need to tell his son that. And so, the passing of Nyg's dad was a moment of great sadness but it was also an opportunity for reconciliation.

He explained to Nyguyen that there was a better way. There had to be. Nyguyen offered his own ideas and together they came up with a plan to heal the world of the terror that was the First Shinobi World War. They called it the Great Reset: Build Back Better and while it required the cooperation of the great nations and even shinobi beyond it, they put their hopes in these changes. Before he died, Katahshi whispered a secret in Nyguyen's ear. A secret that cut to the heart of all the questions Nyguyen had about the strangeness of Akihiro's, Satomi's, and even more recently Kimiko's Sharingan. It was an explanation of the hidden powers unlocked by Kazuya and his brother. They had broken new ground in order to protect this family and it was now Nyguyen's responsibility to uphold it. With this last bit of knowledge imparted, Nyguyen's father passed on from this world into the next before his son's very eyes. The Hokage shut his eyes and re-opened them with a totally new perspective on the world. He left his father to rest and be prepared for burial. He knew what he had to do now and there was work to be done.

    Ikomiki's Bedside

Nyguyen sat in the chair next to the bed that Ikomiki lay in. The wayward Konoha genin was now the sole surviving member of the original Moonspire Three. He had a mind to kill her right then and there but he decided to hold off for the time being. They were still at war with Kumo and Nyguyen had the perfect idea to soothe things over with them. It would also provide him with a chunk of goodwill that could be used to push for his plans. The Hokage was holding a piece of paper that contained his notes on how to help fix the shinobi world in the aftermath of this devastating conflict. It took over 1,000 years of warfare for mankind to develop the Hidden Village System, but it would only take three years to start back. He had read the notes to the unconscious Ikomiki. He found the process helpful and when he was done, he turned to her and said with an abrupt sigh:

"I bet you never figured this did you?"

He looked at the  paper and then at the doorway. He had sent for Arisu and Tengoku. He hoped they would arrive soon as there was much to discuss.

"I mean how could you? You aren't much different from my own student Ashitaka. Following orders until they get you hurt and killed.....and who is to blame? Yourselves, the military culture, your sensei? I wish Akihiro and I could take all of it...we certainly deserve to but if you ever reach my level of responsibility, the one thing you should know is that you really only need to mess up once. Just one time. Be a little slow....Just one time....be a little late....just one time....be a little weak......just one time. And how can a shinobi or kunoichi never not be late? Not be slow? Not be weak? You can't be perfect in this profession and that wouldn't be so bad if it were just your own neck on the line"

Nyguyen felt a drop of blood form in the corner of his eye. The cat-girl couldn't hear him and likely never would. At this point it didn't matter. All there was left to do was press on until peace was achieved.

Out of Hand, Out of Sight (Tengoku/Arisu) Empty Re: Out of Hand, Out of Sight (Tengoku/Arisu)

Post by Tengoku Thu Mar 04, 2021 4:24 pm

There was a hush among the streets it seemed as the Hokage was in mourning. With the battles and losses Konoha had been suffering as of late there had to be a lot of pressure on him. With news of Ashitaka's suicide as well it had to be all the more.  After all despite the boys anger and shortcomings he had been the mans student. Of course Tengoku didn't know him all that well as he had only met him once. Yet he liked to believe their leader was still human deep inside. Even if Tengoku found him to be war hungry he wasn't about to attack the mans character today of all days. Especially not when he had been summoned to meet in the hospital where the man was waiting. In the room of one of the criminals responsible for moonspire no less. Tengoku had concerns about what it may be. After all he had no interest in fighting this war or the one before it. He would defend his home but he did not enjoy the idea of attacking other nations. Where most found things like what happened at the hotsprings a victory Tengoku only saw the tragedy.

He had spent time feeding and clothing refugees from the war. Seeing the pain in their eyes and the loss of hope. A part of him had blamed Nyg for it all. For Masaru taking ill despite all he had done for Konoha after Konoha took the role of aggressor. He had questioned his loyalties when his student was about to be banished from the nation. None of it seemed rational to him. Just warmongering. He had struggled with all of it but trained for the recoil it would bring upon them eventually. He had fought all the threats to their home within their lands and brought hope where there was little to be found. As a result he had been called the paladin of Konoha. His sense of justice was simply different from his Hokages. Still the man had just lost his father and the battleground was in their backyard now. He could appreciate the stress the man must be under. So when he had been summoned it was only a moment of hesitation before he decided he would in fact go. Defying an order now likely would reflect poorly on his household. A lack of honor perhaps. Still he needed to steel himself against letting his emotions show during this time.

Tengoku would tie back his hair for once in a ponytail and brush it out. He would put on black robes and sandals to signify respect for those in mourning. Choosing to leave his weapon at home for the time being. The gift from Masaru would not be helpful today. Of all days. He wouldn't dawdle too long though before leaving the manor far faster than any horse or carriage could take him. He had surpassed them long ago. Still he would stop outside of a fine looking establishment and enter it briefly. Exiting with a golden colored gourd of sake with a wax cap on it and three bowl cups. With that he picked up speed again and moved on to the hospital. Bypassing the hospital staff that likely wouldn't allow alcohol passed the front waiting area. Stopping to slow to a walk before approaching the room. Seeing it open he would step into the door way and knock lightly to get the Hokages attention. Bowing his head respectfully he would enter into the room and take note of the sleeping one. Before turning to Nyguyen and holding out the sake bottle with amber eyes watching the man. If anything there was pity in those eyes.

"I understand it is tradition to drink to those who passed after their loved ones give a toast. Would you take a moment to do so with me lord Hokage?"

Out of Hand, Out of Sight (Tengoku/Arisu) Empty Re: Out of Hand, Out of Sight (Tengoku/Arisu)

Post by Nyguyen Uchiha Mon Mar 08, 2021 1:06 pm

When Nyguyen heard the knock on the door, he raised his head. He flushed any expression of sorrow from his face and hardened himself. He had cried at his student's bedside once before and it was one of his lowest moments as Hokage. He vowed from that day on never again to let the demos see him in such a state. He straightened up but remained sitting. An earthy "Come in" was all he offered and he was soon greeted with a respectful bow from none other than Tengoku Shinku. The Paladin knew that he was in mourning and offered him a golden bottle of sake. Part of the Hokage was offended to be on the receiving end of his subordinate's pity, but another part of him was thankful to have someone to drink with. He sighed and nodded as he accepted the gesture.

It wasn't Tengoku's fault that the war was taking people from him left and right. If anything, he only had himself to blame. "You're very well informed on the traditions of our forefathers Tengoku....that's important" He raised the sake bottle and said "To those we've lost during this war....and to those we might yet save from suffering the same fate" Nyguyen would then take a nice long drink from the bottle. The taste was bitter but somehow refreshing. It was like a physical manifestation of the horrible things Nyguyen had to swallow as a Kage. All of the death, misery, and pain that had made him stronger at the cost of taking away his humanity. Would he ever be the same again? Would he ever be whole? The Hokage set the drink aside and wiped his beard with his sleeve.

"That is the first drink I've had in honor of the heroic fallen....and its going to be the last. The Raikage and the Princess Triumverate have made it clear that this war needs to be brought to an end and I agree. The criminals who started it are all dead except for the one you see resting before you. Although Seigi Chinoike has been rather stubborn in his ceasefire.....he has called a Kage Summit. The first one in nearly ten years....hopefully we will be able to put an end to the Gurētodaiingu. There will be much to discuss and I have some ideas on how to broker the peace but before I go into that, I've brought you here to discuss something very important."

Nyguyen leaned back in the chair he was sitting in and closed his eyes for a moment. He hadn't expected to say these words for at least another ten years, maybe even twenty. But unfortunately in their world, the position of Kage changed hands often and now he had a front row seat as to why.

    "I am resigning."

He allowed the words to sink in. When he opened his eyes his Sharingan would be active. Nyguyen would use it to analyze Tengoku's reaction. He did not know the Jounin personally but the young man's reputation in the military was steadily rising. Many thought highly of him and his popularity could be just the change that Konoha needed. Nyguyen had mixed feelings about his own tenure. He read the critiques from his detractors more often than the laudatory pieces written by his supporters. The death of Akihiro and the quiet acknowledgement of his role in Moonspire had led to polarizing views on Nyg's legacy. Some saw his execution of the Sparrow as a testament to his commitment to putting country about clan. Others saw it as cleaning up a mess of his own creation putting a traitorous Kage slayer in a position of power. Between Chika and Akihiro though, the people of the Leaf were fed up with the constant tension between rival clans. A shinobi who was not from a Great House would be a wise choice and there was none more qualified than the ninja standing before him. Nyguyen rose to his feet and approached Tengoku directly. He put a reassuring hand on the man's shoulder. When he had promoted him, he figured that this Wolfsman would be a trusted but ultimately unremarkable ninja. It never occurred to him that he had been speaking with his potential successor.

"I am sure after the attack on Hot Springs the Raikage harbors a rather personal grudge against me and making peace with him will be difficult while I'm still in power. Additionally, between the execution of Chika and Akihiro...public confidence in the noble clans that founded this village is at an all-time low. It was a mistake to place my own family in so many positions of influence and power. Many will blame us for the current state of the war. If the conflict is associated with the Uchiha whether rightly or wrongly, then the best decision would be for me to step down and for someone else to take my place. Someone who is not beholden to their surname only the village proper. I don't know if you want the job or if you think you're ready but this is what is best for the Hidden Leaf. I've spoken to many Jounin, Tengoku Shinku. I've reviewed countless reports and polls....you are well regarded in this village and no one doubts your sense of honor and justice. This Office has a way of corroding one's conscience but if there is anyone who can stay true to their principles its you."

Nyguyen lifted his other hand and pressed a piece of paper into the younger twin's hand. It was the paper containing his ideas on how to rebuild from the First World War.

"I won't lie to you Tengoku. My reasons for stepping down aren't entirely altruistic. The truth is I'm tired. Tired of fighting. Tired of commanding those close to me to kill and die for this land. Tired of all of it. I have to get back to my family. I have to get back to who I really am. If I continue down this path then I don't think I'll end up much better than the Moonspire Three. I have some ideas...they are rough concepts really but all the same I want you to take them with you. You don't have to pitch all of them or any of them, but as my last order I would appreciate it if you give them serious consideration."

The items on the paper would be as follows:

    Spoiler:

Tengoku was free to take what he pleased from the paper. Nyguyen would not hold it against him if the man held differing opinions on what items were appropriate and which were not. The whole point of stepping down was to give the reins over to the new generation. However, Nyguyen for his part would work towards these goals as a private citizen.

Out of Hand, Out of Sight (Tengoku/Arisu) Empty Re: Out of Hand, Out of Sight (Tengoku/Arisu)

Post by Tengoku Wed Mar 10, 2021 12:10 pm

Tengoku would listen in silence as the man would take his drink and toast to the fallen. He was quiet and respectful despite his feelings on the war. He knew a part of him resented this man for what happened to Masaru who had proven himself a friend. He even suspected some foul play at work. Masaru having fallen ill at such a crucial moment had always seemed suspicious to him. However he was not one to question the leadership of a nation. Instead he would nod to the idea of the fallen and set the saucer cups down. Idly pouring some small amount of sake into his own cup. Choosing not to drink directly from the gourd as the Hokage had done. Instead a small amount simply to honor the toast barely filled the bottom of his saucer. He had a difficult time drinking due to the scent. Alcohol had a sour smell that nearly floored his senses if he got to close to it. After all his sense of smell was on par with his hearing and sight. Still he would finish pouring the small amount before setting the gourd back down. The host had toasted and drank and now he should as well.

However he would pause with saucer in hand as the man mentioned he was resigning. Had he heard that right? This Uchiha had said he was different than the previous Hokages. That he would be around for some time and while he had lasted years longer than his predecessors Tengoku had not expected this so soon. Perhaps a decade down the road. He would look with amber eyes to his Kage searching for something but he wasn't sure what. Was this real? Nyguyen looked serious and he began to explain his reasoning. It was true that it would be difficult to broker peace when the one who started the war was still in power. Regimes usually fell for a war to end. He would sip down the little bit of Sake he had to keep with tradition before he forgot. As such news also needed a drink usually. However Nyguyen offering him the job would make him cough rather hard as he had barely swallowed. He was being considered for the position. Tengoku would take a deep breath as he wondered how strong this sake was for that decision. Even if the polls and mission reports had made him the best potential candidate.

Tengoku was speechless a moment before he would swallow visibly. Nyguyen would reach out and place a folded paper into his hands wishing for Tengoku to look them over and bring the subjects up at the summit but all Tengoku could do was look down at the paper in silence a moment as he contemplated. He would take another calming breath before tucking the paper into his inner robes breast pocket to read and study up on later. Likely with his sisters advice. More calm now he would look to Nyguyen a moment before smiling softly and speaking. His voice calm as he did.

"Truth be told I hate war. A part of me hated you for the war. Masaru saved my sisters life so we owed him a great debt. We were torn when you declared war and chose to stay in the defense of Konoha instead of participating. My sister however took ill for years and went into a deep slumber she has only recently awoken from. It had been a hard two years alone during this war where people I meet go out to die on the battlefields while I cower here not wishing to attack another nation. I say this because honesty is my policy. However despite the fear it bred over the Uchiha clan my loyalties always were with Konoha. It isn't wealth or power for my own sake I seek. I have always sought the power to protect the people. To protect my family and to protect my students. I am not as certain as you are that I am the best choice. I fear being corrupted by power. That said I will no longer sit idly by. If it is you choice I will go to the summit and represent Konoha. However I will not claim you did not do good for the village as well. I respect you even if I hate this war Sir. Thank you for your service."

With that Tengoku would set his saucer now empty to the side and bow his head as low as he could without looking ridiculous. The kind of bow one does to a superior deserving of the utmost respect.

Out of Hand, Out of Sight (Tengoku/Arisu) Empty Re: Out of Hand, Out of Sight (Tengoku/Arisu)

Post by Nyguyen Uchiha Sat Mar 13, 2021 3:36 pm

Nyguyen was glad that Tengoku was caught off-guard. His Sharingan told him that the reaction was genuine. He did not expect to be promoted to the highest office in the country which meant that he wasn't actively pursuing it. Reluctance to take up the wide-brimmed hat was the hallmark of a good Kage. He was further pleased to see Tengoku accept his notes and tuck it in his pocket. When the Wolf began speaking, he spoke candidly. He spoke of how he hated the war and sympathized with Masaru for saving his sister. Nyguyen recalled her, she had been promoted alongside him. If he remembered correctly the two were twins.

Tengoku was an opponent of the war which wasn't all that surprising and if he opposed the war, then it was only logical that he should hate Nyguyen's tenure. Fortunately, he appeared to hold no grudge. He understood what he was being called to do and he respected his predecessor's efforts even though he didn't necessarily agree with them fully. When Tengoku bowed, Nyguyen felt something in his heart that he hadn't felt in months. Sentiment. He had to kill people who were close to him in furtherance of the greater good and the feeling had left him hollow. This was the first time in a long time that he could say he felt something resembling hope, pride, and optimism. He didn't stop Tengoku or spoil the moment by talking too much. He just fell silent and accepted the honor. When Tengoku was finished bowing, he'd reply:

"Thank you Tengoku....your opposition to the war is understandable and in hindsight, I think you were right in your convictions all along but unfortunately what's done is done. I have confidence you'll help put this conflict to rest and rebuild what was once destroyed"

The rebuilding metaphor was purposefully vague. He was not just talking about buildings or land. He was referring to people, relationships, international trust, and faith that Hagoromo's Dream was not a mere fantasy.

"I'm glad you've accepted the position but before you're formally promoted....I have one last task I need your help with"

The Hokage turned to the unconscious Ikomiki who lay as still as a tree. He gestured to the sleeping terrorist and all of the warmth that he had felt moments prior turned cold as ice. He was no longer Hokage but he had not gone soft. After what he had been through, he couldn't.

"This one." The contempt in his voice was clear. "Ikomiki Ōtsutsuki. She was Akihiro's student and his chief accomplice in the attack on Moonspire. Kiri and Konoha conducted a joint raid on Mockingbird's headquarters and were able to arrest her although she has been in a plague coma for months. I doubt she'll wake up but with this disease you never know....my last order as Hokage is to ensure her transfer over to Kumo. Each nation has extracted their pound of flesh from the criminals who helped start this conflagration and as bloodthirsty as the lightning folk are this might be just what's needed to soothe things over with them. They'll have their justice...their own way. Ikomiki murdered Shinsui during the Exams, almost caused a fight in this hospital with one of my former students, and willfully attacked a sovereign nation. She's unstable at best and malicious at worst. Konoha has no interest in protecting her and I've already drafted the transfer order. The only remaining concern is that Ikomiki is a foreign alien and she technically falls under the jurisdiction of Arisu Ōtsutsuki. I've given the Kiri Princess custody over Iko but I might need to re-negotiate that understanding."

Nyguyen gave a snort that sounded like a typical old man 'Hmph!' He should have played hardball over Iko's body. He wasn't keen on dissecting these people but the science behind their anatomy was likely to be astounding. There was so much Konoha's scientists could learn from them and he had given away the cat-girl without so much as an errant thought. It was poor strategic thinking and it was a direct product of his emotions. He was so angry about what he would have to do about his cousin that he neglected to see the value in retaining Iko's body even if it was only for a diplomatic purpose as opposed to an experimental one. Nyguyen shook his head and muttered something to himself. He then turned to the new Hokage-in-waiting.

"Can you personally oversee the transfer? You don't have to drop her off yourself but if there is a ninja you trust who can do it..."

Out of Hand, Out of Sight (Tengoku/Arisu) Empty Re: Out of Hand, Out of Sight (Tengoku/Arisu)

Post by Tengoku Sun Mar 14, 2021 1:09 pm

Tengoku would glance over at the sleeping form on the bed as Nyg spoke of her. He had never met the person but he knew of mockingbird and what they had done at Moonspire. How it had cast a dangerous shadow on the world. Most of them had been dealt with but one still remained with no voice. No way to explain herself or defend her actions. Most only saw her as a degenerate but Tengoku felt like the words Nyg was sharing about her he didn't feel in his heart. They were all notorious in their own right but he couldn't help but see his sister sleeping there. The way she had been for two years in her own coma. Did Nyg feel like he was losing a part of himself with this? Perhaps he was reasoning this all out and setting his emotions aside. That was a cold and dangerous path that left one feeling empty. Amber eyes would look over nyg as he finished his speech before making a request for Tengoku to oversee the transfer personally or at least send someone he trusted. He didn't have to think too long to decide it was best to do it himself.

His sister would have been on the list but so soon after her recovery she wasn't in a fighting shape just yet. Besides that having just gotten her back he wasn't ready to send her somewhere risky. Like a nation they were technically at war with in that very moment. One slip of her temper and a whole nation descended upon her head. As for squad twelve....well they were too fresh to even come along for the journey. Each a promising individual but none of them truly prepared for anything beyond your common B rank mission with supervision. With nations at stake and a prisoner transfer open to controversy if they learned of it bringing them would also be too great of a risk. He would need to oversee this personally as his last act as just another Jounin of Konoha. He would take a breath after a moment of silence before one hand would go up to rub his right wolf like ear. A nervous tick but in comparison to how shy he had been before he seemed like an entirely different man. He had changed to become harder with his sisters illness but some things never fully faded.

"I will oversee it personally. Normally I would have issue turning over a konoha national to another country likely to face execution without trial. However she chose to act as part of a terrorist cell based here. I don't feel like spreading terror is anyone's right. It is simply an injustice that can not be overlooked. So I will make sure she is transferred as needed. An act of goodwill. After which I will review your notes and make my best judgement to end this war. I do not know if I can rebuild all that was lost as war leaves a change in those it touches. But I will fight until the end until those hearts have a chance to heal. I swear on my home and my sword. I will serve this nation as a protector. A guardian. My lord Hokage if you feel weary it is okay to rest now and leave the burden on another. I will ask this of you though. Allow me to come to you to consult with matters of state and perhaps just to relax some days. I know you can never forget what you lost....but I hope you can learn to love what you still have."

Out of Hand, Out of Sight (Tengoku/Arisu) Empty Re: Out of Hand, Out of Sight (Tengoku/Arisu)

Post by Arisu Tue Mar 16, 2021 1:36 pm

Arisu tugged slightly on the straps that held the Kiba blades, tightening them a little bit more. The bounce against her back had been slightly irksome as she walked. Everything about her gear and appearance was exactly the same as it had been for the travel, considering she didn't really bring anything extra for herself. Dimensional transportation made it easy enough for her to get where she needed to, return to rest, and then go back when she was rested, or just work through and get it all done in one go. She wasn't too concerned with packing a whole lot extra besides a couple of uniforms for clothes changes.

Having been summoned by the Hokage to Ikomiki's room, she was a little bit apprehensive, unsure whether something had happened or not. After everything had gone off without a hitch, she'd already been slightly nervous that something would interrupt the mission, but she was expecting more problems later on in her journey on her way to deliver Ikomiki. Of course, the girl could have awoken, or someone else from Mockingbird could have sprung her.

Still, as she arrived, she was relieved to see that Ikomiki was still unconscious in her bed.

Standing in the doorway, Arisu knocked on the doorframe, keeping silent for the most part. She'd be told what she was here for in a moment.

Out of Hand, Out of Sight (Tengoku/Arisu) Empty Re: Out of Hand, Out of Sight (Tengoku/Arisu)

Post by Nyguyen Uchiha Thu Mar 18, 2021 11:44 am

Tengoku would see to the matter personally. Good. If the Shinku was in charge of the operation then the chances of Ikomiki escaping or being rescued was much lower. He considered going himself so that Tengoku could focus on the Summit, but he'd leave the final decision up to him. He had given his last order and how Tengoku saw fit to carry it out would be his own prerogative. Tengoku reiterated his desire to bring peace and he even left open the possibility that he would use Nyg's ideas to achieve it. "Thank you Tengoku....I have no doubt you will serve this village honorably. My door will always be open if you need counsel and my tanto will remain sharp should you ever need it. When you do not, I will take your words to heart and will spend time with those who matter most to me."

Right after Nyguyen had finished speaking, he noticed Arisu standing in the doorway. The aspirant Goddess-Queen looked as though she had been on a leisurely stroll rather than a daring raid against some of the most powerful criminals Konoha had ever produced. The outgoing Hokage turned to her and greeted her with a sad smile.

"Ah, Arisu Ōtsutsuki. You've joined us at last." Nyguyen walked towards her but remained in-between her and Tengoku. He gestured to his successor. "Thank you for helping my brother-in-law bring these criminals to justice. I can confirm that Akihiro Uchiha has been executed for his crimes and that the only living member of the Moonspire Three lays before you on that bed. Tell Kiri and Kumo that our end of the bargain has been fulfilled and that I expect that hostilities to cease at once. Contrary to your word, the Raikage has been intractable." Nyguyen's smile faded and he made his displeasure rather clear. "I've been patient and assumed that our pre-truce attack on the Land of Hot Springs must be clouding his judgment....hopefully this will allay his concerns but if he continues to pursue war I hope that Kiri will honor its obligations" The Uchiha peered into Arisu's eyes. She'd probably notice that his Sharingan seemed off somehow. Different from what it was when she had first met him.

Assuming the Princess answered in the affirmative or something close to it, Nyguyen would nod and his tone would shift to a more positive note. Not positive per se but more positive. "Now I'm going to tell you something that I hope you will keep in confidence until a formal announcement is made. I am resigning from the position of Hokage. Tengoku Shinku will succeed me and from now on you will be dealing with him directly." Nyguyen turned to Tengoku again. "Tengoku, this is Princess Arisu Ōtsutsuki. She was the one responsible for bringing my brother-in-law and the Second Hokage Satomi Uchiha back from the dead. She is a powerful kunoichi, trustworthy, and with a sense of honor as strong as your own. I hope you two will work closely together in the near future."

Nyguyen wanted to introduce them to each other before he made his announcement but the order of events wasn't important. If anything, it was better that Tengoku had been told first as a show of respect. It also avoided the awkward possibility that the Hokage would be turned down in front of Arisu, although part of his plan had been to use her presence to pressure the Shinku into accepting. For all his pretentions, Nyg was still capable of utilizing the deviousness he had learned while tending to his post. The Hokage sighed as he got the worst off his chest. He'd need to speak to Arisu about Ikomiki now but he saw no reason to keep Tengoku. The Summit would be starting soon and it was best for him to leave now. While Tengoku traveled, Nyguyen would put in the paperwork and formally resign from the position but for now, he needed to speak to Arisu.

"Tengoku you should probably get going. I will announce my resignation publicly soon and will finalize things on my end. By the time you arrive, you will have all the powers vested in my office. Good luck and safe travels" Nyguyen would escort Tengoku out of the room and close the door behind him. Now that the he had bid Tengoku farewell, he and the Alien Princess were alone, or at least, the only ones conscious in the room.

If she was observant, Arisu would be able to tell that Nyguyen was not doing well. Nyguyen had been 35 when he met her and he looked so young he had often been mistaken for someone in their mid-to-late twenties. Back then, he had a vibrant resonance about him even as a scholar. That aura was gone now. He looked weathered, depressed, and filled with negative emotion. It was clear he was pushing forty. There were streaks of grey in his beard and hair. The sockets that bore his Mangekyou Sharingan were sunken and marred with black. The product of sleepless nights and a lifetime's worth of conflict. The Nyguyen Uchiha who had made it out of the Gurētodaiingu was not the same shinobi as he was before. He resisted the urge to lecture or tell a historical parable about the situation. Instead, he walked up directly to the petite warrior and crossed his arms.

"Let's talk. About Ikomiki and what comes next. Would you care for a drink Arisu-hime?"

Out of Hand, Out of Sight (Tengoku/Arisu) Empty Re: Out of Hand, Out of Sight (Tengoku/Arisu)

Post by Tengoku Fri Mar 19, 2021 1:25 pm

Tengoku would smile as the now retiring Hokage would offer him his council or his blade as needed but would otherwise spend time with his family. For a moment Tengoku idly wondered how much time he would spend in the office in comparison to with his own family. But he had a strong sense of duty that outweighed those worries. He would rise from his own bow before his ear would twitch to the sounds of someone approaching. He would turn his head as Nyugen did and notice a familiar face. He would smile widely before waiting for Nyugen to introduce her and inform her on what they had discussed. His hands would fold in front of himself and he would nod his head to her in a silent greeting. He wouldn't call them close but they certainly knew of each other. She was powerful indeed and with words of having raised the dead introduced Tengoku was very surprised. His eyes widening to match his thoughts. Was such a feat really possible? If so perhaps lost loved ones would not remain so forever. However there must be a cost to such power. Something most may not be willing to pay.

With that Tengoku was told he should hurry on his way as the summit would be underway soon. The business with delivering the prisoner to Kumo would have to wait until his return but he would use it as a negotiation tool all the same. The country of Kumo would like their pound of flesh for what was done to them and to end the war Konoha would comply. There was a lot of reparations being made and Tengoku would be responsible for keeping negotiations going. Of course Tengoku was virtually ushered out the door quickly by the former (still in office) Hokage into the hall with the door closed behind him. A part of him smiled with humor while he wondered if he was a scape goat at this point. Regardless he would inform everyone at the manor of what had transgressed here before packing up some supplies for travel and heading for the gate.

Out of Hand, Out of Sight (Tengoku/Arisu) Empty Re: Out of Hand, Out of Sight (Tengoku/Arisu)

Post by Arisu Sun Apr 18, 2021 3:33 pm

Arisu gave a curt nod to Tengoku as he left, processing the information that she'd been presented. She didn't fully understand why Nyguyen was stepping down from the position of Hokage, but it wasn't really her place to question it. This village was known for its penchant of losing kage at an expedited rate, and it was a time of war, so changes in regime often couldn't be avoided. Perhaps the Uchiha felt it was smarter to step down, or perhaps he was scared to die. Either way, Arisu had no comment on the matter.

She'd met Tengoku previously at the Training Grounds and got the chance to spar him there. He was undoubtedly a powerful shinobi who could hold his own as a Kage.

"No, but I appreciate the offer. What did you want to discuss about Ikomiki?"

Arisu had been given possession of Ikomiki following the arrest of Akihiro and Ikomiki, and she was due to deliver the body to Kumogakure at some point in the near future. Partially as a good faith gesture to the nation and to bring about an end to the war that had been brewing across the continents. War was good for some people, but peace was still achievable and it was terrible for many people.

It wasn't like this was a territory dispute either. Often times, wars broke out for ownership of land, but so far the war had been for nothing other than petty misgrievances and continued insults levied. A sense of escalation from small things that added up, with bigger and bigger retaliation, and the shinobi had been growing in power at an enormous rate, enough that it was likely that they could do irreparable damage to the lands they fought in now. Stopping now made more sense.

Out of Hand, Out of Sight (Tengoku/Arisu) Empty Re: Out of Hand, Out of Sight (Tengoku/Arisu)

Post by Nyguyen Uchiha Sat Apr 24, 2021 8:09 pm

Nyguyen didn't take it personally when Arisu declined the drink. Or maybe he did. Just a little. She was here on business and after their last meeting, he couldn't blame her if she wanted to keep it that way. When she asked what he wanted to discuss regarding Ikomiki, the Uchiha got straight to the point. He uncrossed his arms and pointed to the unconscious kunoichi. Nyguyen spoke in a serious tone and his eyes demonstrated how important the matter under discussion was.

"Originally, as part of our deal, I have you custody of the terrorist known as Ikomiki Ōtsutsuki. I did this partly out of respect for the kinship you share with her. I assume you have taken whatever spoils were contained in her body and now will mete out justice. I'm afraid I'm going to have to ask you to hold off on that. I want you to turn Ikomiki back over to us so that we can deliver her to Kumogakure alive. Kumo was the one who was wronged at Moonspire and knowing their lot, they won't be satisifed unless they can extract their pound of flesh from the perpretrators. Kirigakure has done its part, Konoha has done its part, what remains ought be given to Kumo."

Nyguyen was willing to negotiate for his cousin's disciple, but first he wanted to give Arisu the rationale behind his request.

Out of Hand, Out of Sight (Tengoku/Arisu) Empty Re: Out of Hand, Out of Sight (Tengoku/Arisu)

Post by Arisu Sat May 01, 2021 2:39 pm

Arisu frowned at the request, somewhat taken aback.

"There are very few Otsutsuki on this planet. Our DNA is likely a.... valuable commodity. I wouldn't feel comfortable handing over Ikomiki's body to Kumogakure. My plan was to incinerate it after showing proof that she's dead to Kumogakure. Whatever crimes she committed, she's still one of my people."

Looking over to Ikomiki, she maintained a contemplative frown. She didn't really want to leave it to anyone else, but for what it was worth, part of her DNA was Senju now too, so Konoha wanting it made sense.

"If you can guarantee that her body is removed from this world once they kill her or whatever, I'll relinquish her back into the custody of Konoha, although I would ask a favor in return. The favor in question involves assisting me in a fight against a powerful entity, something of an avatar of the Sage of Six Paths. I may be able to fight fully on my own, but allies would make it easier."

Arisu was quick to the point when asking favors. Some people were adverse to asking for aid on anything, proving their own might as a testament to their own power, but this was one of the final stages of Arisu's ascendance, and she wasn't going to risk it all for pride. It was something she needed to do, certainly, but she wasn't above asking for aid from her trusted allies.

Out of Hand, Out of Sight (Tengoku/Arisu) Empty Re: Out of Hand, Out of Sight (Tengoku/Arisu)

Post by Nyguyen Uchiha Sat May 01, 2021 2:57 pm

Nyguyen listened as Arisu explained her hesitation with regard to relinquishing custody of her fellow Ōtsutsuki. The Princess had no qualms about taking Ikomiki's power and ultimately killing her but he wondered if she was sentimental regarding what Kumo might to do with the cat girl. He also contemplated whether it was a matter of practicality, of not letting their power fall into the hands of an foreign adversary. Now he had his answer.

She was willing to turn the body back over to Konoha so long as he guaranteed that once the deed was done, the body would be destroyed. It was a fair request and one that he thought he could impress upon Kumo. They had a right to Iko's life but not to her corpse. Akihiro's body had been kept from them so he saw no harm in doing the same for Iko. He doubted Kumo would jeopardize peace over something so small. What Arisu wanted in return surprised him. He was expecting her to ask for money, or worse yet, techniques. The man furrowed his brow in confusion as she said she would need to fight an avatar of the Sage of Six Paths. Nyguyen had no clue as to what this woman was talking about and it sounded more like a suicide mission than a favor. If he was a young man with nothing to lose, he'd have agreed first and asked questions later. But the former Hokage had a family to take care of and he needed to know what he was signing up for before he left his wife a widow and his children half an orphan.

"I will impress upon the importance that Kumo obliterates the corpse after they've extracted their justice. Hopefully they are just as serious about peace as we are and they abide by these terms. However, if they are not, I can guarantee you that I will take measures to ensure Ikomiki's corpse is not harvested or weaponized in any way. It will be difficult but we have our methods. If Kumo takes significant issue with these measures...I trust we will have Kiri's backing"

The sub-text of Nyguyen's words ought be clear. He didn't think it would come to this but he wanted Kiri's commitment. They had already broken their word once by not getting Kumo to immediately cease hostilities while they delivered the requested justice. If Kiri played them a fool for a second time, they'd be right back where they started.

"As for this....Sage of Six Paths Avatar.....I'm afraid you've lost me. Why are you fighting an Avatar of our greatest icon and how on Earth can you hope to succeed even with my help?"

Out of Hand, Out of Sight (Tengoku/Arisu) Empty Re: Out of Hand, Out of Sight (Tengoku/Arisu)

Post by Arisu Sat May 01, 2021 5:29 pm

"I've fulfilled my moral obligations to right an injustice by removing the poison of Akihiro, Ikomiki, and Hana. If Kumogakure chooses to object, that's their choice. However, the war has gone on long enough, and I'll personally end it if they choose to continue."

It was clear enough that Arisu felt no further obligation to Kumogakure, having been more than fair to take care of Konoha and Kiri's problems internally. Any way it was looked at, the combination of having lost Hana, Akihiro, and Ikomiki was a massive detriment to the military forces of the two villages. Each of them was a nation level threat alone, but to have excised 3 of them was a massive ask that hadn't even been fully necessary.

"In regards to the Sage's avatar, it's mostly my own fight. A test to see if I'm ready to mantle a higher evolution. I'm confident that I can pass on my own; I'm about as strong as I can get, I've got near endless chakra, fully integrated Senjutsu control, a mastery over every basic element, proficiency in weaponry and hand to hand combat, dimensional travel, summons, and the Gedou Statue. And that's not even including my gear, nor the Six Paths of Pain."

There were few people who could boast an ability to 'single handedly' pass the test against an avatar of the Sage of Six Paths, but any way she looked at it, she was among those. The Summons, Six Paths of Pain, and Gedou Statue were all technically a part of her control after all. Still, even if she disregarded those as options, she still held quite an immense amount of power on her own. With her Chains, the Tool Creation Technique, her Receiver Rods, the Kiba Blades, Taijutsu abilities, and Bukijutsu/Kenjutsu abilities, close combat was all but fruitless against her. Conversely, with access to every base element and non elemental mastery, and her pool of jutsu, long range combat was just as difficult. With a truly monstrous supply of chakra baseline, and Sage Chakra pool to call from as well, Arisu could maintain peak efficiency far longer than most. This wasn't even mentioning the physical boost that Sage Mode granted her to begin with.

But Arisu was a Kage level contender. She'd all but peaked as it was. There were few people at her level, and most of them could be considered enemies. Even among Kirigakure, she likely would find no aid, as Kitsuki was the only one she could think of to ask there, but the girl was wary of Arisu getting stronger and likely would attempt to impede her trial. In Kumogakure, Arisu would find no allies that she could currently trust. Her options were few and limited, but Nyguyen was a candidate that she could at least ask.

"I understand if you're unwilling. As I said, it was a favor, not a demand. I just don't have many people I'd trust to aid me on this endeavor, and of those I'd trust, few have the skill required to fight an avatar on par with the Bijuu."

Out of Hand, Out of Sight (Tengoku/Arisu) Empty Re: Out of Hand, Out of Sight (Tengoku/Arisu)

Post by Nyguyen Uchiha Tue May 04, 2021 4:31 am

Nyguyen hoped that he could take Arisu at her word. Kumo's treatment of the ceasefire was concerning to say the least, but he had been willing to look past it given what Konoha had done to Yugakure. A second step backwards would not be as easy to resolve. Fortunately, this time Princess Arisu seemed committed to not letting Kumo breach what was agreed upon by all three of the Gurētodaiingu's main belligerents. He gave it some thought and then nodded. He was going to trust her.

The situation with respect to this Avatar was still not entirely clear to him. It sounded like some kind of archaic Ōtsutsuki ritual, not much unlike the trials an Uchiha had to go through to get their Mangekyou Sharingan. Although whereas the evolution of the Sharingan was brought about by organic circumstances, this appeared to be a pre-planned contest. There was a theory among some fringe historians that shortly before Hagoromo passed on, either he or his immediate successors made pilgrimages to other worlds to spread his teachings. Some even argued that he had re-connected with his Ōtsutsuki brethren. A minority claimed that he was still alive and now lived among the Alien-Gods/Goddesses, studying humanity's progress from afar. Nyguyen had never given the wild conjecture behind the theories any serious consideration, but Arisu's words caused him to re-think what he thought he knew about the subject.

Maybe the Society is just scratching the surface....maybe there is more to the mystery of our illustrious Founder than we can dare dream of....

Nyguyen wanted to press Arisu more on the subject, but now wasn't the time nor place. He could always find out more later after he agreed to help. She sounded very confident about the outcome as she rattled off a list of her abilities. Arisu was indeed quite powerful. She was almost certainly stronger than Nyguyen and if she felt as though she could take on the Sage of Six Paths, it left him wondering what use would he be to her. Extra insurance most likely.... This was beginning to sound a fair bit like the Control fight that Rin had wanted him to be a part of. A battle of that magnitude required stacking the deck as much in your favor as possible and leaving nothing to chance. Ordinarily, Nyguyen would have declined as he wasn't going to risk his life to add a few more percentage points to the likelihood of someone else's success. However, Arisu had agreed to transferring Ikomiki, she had proven her own competence against Akihiro, and there was the matter of Nyguyen wanting to test out his own abilities.

The former Hokage grinned when Arisu said that there were few that she trusted and fewer still with the capacity to take on Hagoromo's Avatar. Nyguyen had just claimed the power of the Mangekyou Sharigan for himself and he needed to measure its abilities against a worthy opponent in as controlled a setting as possible. This wasn't what he had in mind, but it was probably the best he could hope for. He could also possibly bring Satomi along so as to ensure both his and Arisu's safety. His brother-in-law was now indisputably the strongest Uchiha alive and he too would relish a good challenge. Nyguyen stroked his beard and his eyes flickered for a moment as they briefly revealed his Mangekyou Sharingan. The unorthodox design would then vanish just as quickly as it appeared. A momentary trick he had seen Aki and Sato perform to great rhetorical effect. It was a demonstration of his own power and confirmation that Arisu was right to come him.

"I'm no slouch myself. The war has taken much from me....but it has also given as well" he said with a mixture of bitterness and mirth. "I will aide you in your battle. Now that I will no longer be serving as Hokage, I have more flexibility to assist with battles such as these. If you are in need of additional allies, I might see about my brother-in-law Satomi helping out....for a fee of course."

Satomi wouldn't exactly be repaying a debt to Arisu. While she had resurrected him, it was only because her village had killed him in the first place. Between the three of them, he was growing confident that they could take on this Sage Avatar. And if they couldn't? Would he ever have a more glorious and historic death?

Out of Hand, Out of Sight (Tengoku/Arisu) Empty Re: Out of Hand, Out of Sight (Tengoku/Arisu)

Post by Arisu Sat May 15, 2021 3:09 pm

"Excellent. Prepare all you like, but it'll be soon."

Any amount of help was certainly appreciated. It wasn't going to be an easy match by any means, but Arisu was confident that with the aid of one or two allies, she'd have no actual problems succeeding in her task.

"I don't quite know if I'll have anything worth giving to Lord Satomi, but if he would be interested in helping and I have something to offer, perhaps we can come to an arrangement. Money is little concern to me, but likely also to him."

Folding her arms contemplating what she could even offer, Arisu was pulling a blank. She wasn't going to offer any of Kirigakure's artifacts, and it was becoming clear that exclusives shouldn't be spread around to just anyone, nor would it be likely that Satomi could make use of any of them. If not that, then money would be the next best thing, but most Kage weren't wanting for money, even if they were a former Kage.

With that big ticket question out of the way, Arisu was on the path to success, but she wanted Zoe to be by her side, or at least close by when she unlocked the final stage of her ascension. Granted, whether Nyguyen said yes or not wasn't of much interest, but she figured it best to ask permission in the first place. If not, she'd just summon her outside the village and then enter using the proper channels.

"Would you permit me bringing in someone from Kirigakure? Not for the fight, I don't think she's combat oriented, I just promised to show her around Kishin a little. Now that Ikomiki is neutralized, I'm less worried about people hunting her for our bloodline. Besides, I'd like to spend more time with her."

Out of Hand, Out of Sight (Tengoku/Arisu) Empty Re: Out of Hand, Out of Sight (Tengoku/Arisu)

Post by Nyguyen Uchiha Wed May 19, 2021 9:52 pm

Arisu was pretty inexpressive about his acceptance, but he was used to it by now. Arisu also didn't appear to have much money, or more specifically, not much use for it. Come to think of it, Nyguyen wasn't sure what Satomi even wanted these days. He had all that the shinobi world had to offer really. Power the likes of which few could even comprehend, a country that adored him, a clan that respected him, and close family that loved him. He wasn't sure what Arisu could offer except the challenge of a lifetime and maybe not even that given how cavalier she was about the prospective battle.

"I'll talk to him" Nyguyen offered. It was the best he could do. The actual details would need to be hammered out by the Ghost and the Goddess. That was a meeting for another day. For now, it looked like Nyguyen was going to get what he had originally wanted. Konoha would re-gain custody of Ikomiki on the express condition that her body was to be obliterated after Kumo finished getting its....satisfaction. Arisu's next request gave him pause however. She wanted to bring someone from Kirigakure into Konoha. In theory, that would not be a problem. After all Konoha had allowed one of its shinobi to transfer to Kiri as part of a limited exchange program. However, as Arisu began describing her companion it became obvious that she was not a native of this planet.

"A fellow Ōtsutsuki?" the tone commanded confirmation. Bringing more extra-terrestrials into Konoha was a sensitive subject. Nyguyen's own late student was quite the xenophobe and as news of the alien presence spread, many were just as wary. The Ōtsutsuki were a people of keen interest to him, but he had to be careful about how he handled them. He was resigning and his political capital was running dry. If anything, many in the village hated him and blamed him for the war. If he openly welcomed all Ōtsutsuki into Konoha then they might even form a mob to attack him. I have to handle this carefully. The Ōtsutsuki can be potent allies in the wars to come....I failed to warn Arisu in time about Menza and she was tortured because of it. Maybe if we we-

"Besides, I'd like to spend more time with her."

That statement halted his train of thought. It sounded innocuous and neutral. It was an expression of fact and could be interpreted in a fairly benign way. Maybe it was Nyguyen's experiences as a leader and a father, or perhaps it was his unacknowledged attraction to Arisu, regardless of the reason when he heard her say it he immediately began to realize what she might meant by it.

"Oh. I see." Nyguyen wasn't disappointed. Or maybe he was a little. He'd never pursue such a young bachelorette given that he was a married man, but at least part of him wanted to believe she found him desirable. Get your mind out of the gutter you fool! Have your forgotten your wife can read your mind?! Nyguyen stroked his beard and considered the matter from a neutral and objective standpoint. Nyg did need to cultivate good relations with this clan, but he needed to do it discretely so as not to cause a panic. If this individual was not combative and had no reason to fear for her safety now that Iko had been removed from the board, then he figured he could trust her to fly under the radar. It would solidify Nyguyen's strictly professional relationship with Arisu and give him another alien contact from which he could draw knowledge and perhaps utility. He nodded his head as if to confirm his own decision.

"Yes. Okay. You can bring her to Konoha. But I ask that when you do, please be discrete about her origin. Obviously, she can trust me and my immediate family including Satomi but I'd appreciate it if she didn't broadcast the fact that she was an Ōtsutsuki. I will arrange for accommodations for the two of you."

Nyguyen said the last part with a genuine smile. It had never occurred to him that Arisu might be a lesbian. He never understood the point of same-sex relationships and growing up the way he did, he was more inclined to see it as aberrant. But over the years, he had become more tolerant and open-minded. Mercedes was good about that kind of stuff and he tried to be the kind of father that was always learning. If this mysterious alien made Arisu happy either as a friend or something more, then he would support them. Not just out of political chicanery but because it was a nice thing to do.

When is the last time I did something.....nice.......

Nyguyen looked towards Ikomiki. Far too long. He turned back to Arisu and cleared his throat. There was something else he wanted to get off his chest. Something that had been bothering him ever since their last meeting in his office.

"There is one other thing....I uh," He sighed and walked to another part of the room and sighed again. "Um" There was clearly something on his mind. "I'm sorry." he finally managed. "About what I said earlier when you first came to me...that word I called you. I didn't mean that and it was wrong of me to say it." He doubted Arisu really cared. She didn't seem to be an emotional woman but it was less about her and more about him and who he was. It was never a good thing to attack someone based on where they came from. He had said a hurtful thing which mean it was only right of him to apologize.

Post by Arisu Wed Jun 02, 2021 11:18 pm

"Maybe not a pure blooded Otsutsuki, as she doesn't know what we are."

Arisu recalled that Zoe didn't know anything about what she was, and Arisu's best guess was that she may be a half blooded Otsutsuki, although that was just based on her not knowing. She had enough Otsutsuki blood in her that the she had a Rinnegan, although she hadn't unlocked it based on her not having seen eyes like Arisu's before.

    "Excellent!"

Her eyes seemed to light up with excitement as Nyguyen agreed to her bringing in Zoe. She seemed oblivious to any sort of disappointment he showed, although he was quite good at hiding his intentions. However, as Nyguyen apologized for his earlier comments, Arisu tilted her head. She viewed his anger as justified, and was perplexed by the apology.

"I understand why you were angry. You've nothing to be sorry for."

As she waved off the apology, her eyes shifted back into their Rinnegan form, and she held out a hand away from her. Willing the Animal Path's summoning to reach out to Zoe, the Otsutsuki would feel the call of the summons, able to accept if she wanted to. Assuming that she accepted, a puff of smoke would appear in front of her, and the form of Zoe would appear.

Out of Hand, Out of Sight (Tengoku/Arisu) Empty Re: Out of Hand, Out of Sight (Tengoku/Arisu)

Post by Zoe Thu Jun 03, 2021 2:14 am

The sensation of being poofed into existence was thrilling and as the tiny woman appeared in front of Arisu she couldn’t help but giggle with excitement. In the spot where Arisu had summoned her fellow Otsutsuki stood a small, even by human standards, white haired woman. At only four foot nine Nyguyen and Arisu would tower over her, though despite her height she was still clearly an adult who looked to be somewhere in her twenties. Zoe’s giggle quickly quieted as she looked around and saw Arisu, a contented smile gracing her pale features as she stared up at her summoner.

“Hello Arisu. I missed you. Also, that was really fun.”

Her words were softly spoken, the tone of her voice dreamy to match her gaze as she stared up at the stunning alien. It took her a few seconds to even register that there was anyone else in the room as she was more than happy to just stand in Arisu’s presence for eternity. After a few moments however she noticed another presence and turned to see Nyguyen standing nearby as well as another person lying unconscious in a bed. Spinning on her heel she would face the tall man and take a step just a touch too close, tilting her face upwards so that she could look at him she lit up with curiosity and enthusiasm. “Well hello there! I’m Zoe! Nice to meet you.” She would extend her hand upwards towards Nyguyen to shake his hand, and assuming he took it she would shake vigorously, and if he didn’t she would just shrug happily. Either way she would skip over to the hospital bed and peer at the woman that lay there, jumping slightly with delight as she noticed catlike ears on the woman’s head. “What is this?! Did you make this Arisu?” Zoe of course had no idea that she was looking at another Otsutsuki, barely even cognisant of the fact that Zoe herself was an Otsutsuki. She assumed this was something magical that Arisu must have done, she didn’t understand the breadth of Arisu’s powers but she understood that this was likely not outside the woman’s capabilities.

Out of Hand, Out of Sight (Tengoku/Arisu) Empty Re: Out of Hand, Out of Sight (Tengoku/Arisu)

Post by Nyguyen Uchiha Sun Jun 13, 2021 1:27 pm

The fact that this stranger did not know her heritage was intriguing to the former Hokage. He didn't speak on it though, in fact, he was rather releived. She could not divulge what she did not know and could not harness what she did not understand. She was probably the safest Ōtsutsuki to have in the village. Nyguyen's heart softened when Arisu expressed elation in response to him giving permission. He even found himself smiling when she readily forgave him. The young woman was as disappoationate as a robot at times, but she had a heart. The Rinnegan would manifest in her eyes and she'd use its power to summon Zoe right to their location.

    Astounding!

It was as though she had Akihiro's teleportation ability albeit with a more "summoning" flavor to it. Nyg recalled that this might be due to the ability that Arisu had taken from Ikomiki. Suddenly a beautiful young woman with snow white hair and an innocent expression stood before him. Nyg could see why Arisu fancied her and though he was normally a no-nonsense man, he couldn't help but give the new arrival a warm welcome. The girl was tiny and had an almost child-like wonder to her behavior. Whereas Arisu was restrained and calm, this one was filled with eagerness. She marched right up to Nyguyen and introduced herself.

"Why hello little one" he said in a friendly tone. She wasn't a kid, but she was probably around Mercedes's age albeit much more petite. "My name is Nyguyen Uchiha. Its a pleasure to meet you. Arisu has told me that you will be staying with her in Konoha and I want you to know that you are both welcome here as guests of honor. If there is anything you require, please just ask" He shook her hand delicatley and gave a polite bow. He was about to open his mouth to speak again when Zoe skipped over to the unconcious Ikomiki. Nyguyen's Sharingan told her where she was going to be before she got there. The man moved like a combination of a gymnast and a boxer as he zipped between Ikomiki's bed and Zoe. He stretched out his arms and blocked her path forwards. He would give her a look that was more similar to what he had given Mitsukira.

It was severe, stern, and without any of the friendliness he had previosuly shown. "Please step away from the bed" he said in a low but serious tone. He hadn't expected Arisu to summon her friend in this very room. If he knew that was her intention, he'd have spared her the awkwardness and warned her not to. He didn't want a hostile Ōtsutsuki next to another. Even if Ikomiki was unconcious, powerless, and weaker than the two of them, he didn't want to take any chances. These beings' physiology reacted with one another's in ways he had yet to understand and thus he could not permit the two to be in extended contact. Iko was simply too malicious and Zoe was too ignorant. He jabbed his finger on a red button and spoke loudly into the buzzer.

    "Doctors! Code 99."

Two doctors entered into the room and Nyguyen gave them a nod. The docs simmediately knew what was up. One of them rushed out of the room. Seconds later, a team of Medical-Nin burst into the room and carted Ikomiki away to a separate wing. The transfer papers would be signed and the terrorist prepared for a trip to Kumogakure no Sato. Once the security threat had been removed, Nyguyen would sigh and try to recapture the earlier positivity he had shown.

"Apologies for my rudeness but that individual was dangerous and I didn't want you to be hurt" Nyguyen left it at that. If Arisu wanted to say more at a later time then she could. However, he expected her to show discretion where necessary and operate within the limits he had given her just a few minutes ago. "As I was saying...I'm glad you're here and I will be arranging accomodations for the two of yo-" Nyguyen was going to say more when he noticed a pair of braids tied around Zoe's waist. He stared at the objects as they reminded him of the distinct and unmistakable hairstyle of the former Mizukages. It was probably some kind of eccentric fashion statement. He had lost his train of thought and now he was just standing there awkwardly.

Apparently, despite all he had been through, Nyguyen Uchiha was still just a socially inept historian. He was just stronger and more capable of violence now.

"Hi Zoe. I missed you too. I'm sorry that I couldn't escort you here normally."

The beautiful but admittedly short woman in front of Arisu was a breathe of fresh air, quite literally. The scent that had intoxicated Arisu in the garden definitely came through with her, leaving her to believe that she just smelled good at all times. A smile broke onto her face as her expression softened.

"No, I didn't make her. Ikomiki was another Otsutsuki who wielded a Rinnegan, much like you or myself, although yours is still unrevealed I assume. She chose to use hers for evil, unfortunately, so I took her ability. Interestingly enough, it was already mine once before, but I had lost it during an encounter with.... well, during an encounter."

Arisu's body released an involuntary shudder as she thought about her time with Menza, and sought to repress the memories she had retained of the tortures she endured.

"I perhaps should have summoned you outside of the room, my apologies. I would never allow any harm to come to you though. Ikomiki isn't much of a threat as things stand, but I suppose we can't be too careful."

Out of Hand, Out of Sight (Tengoku/Arisu) Empty Re: Out of Hand, Out of Sight (Tengoku/Arisu)

Post by Zoe Mon Jun 21, 2021 10:33 pm

Zoe was oblivious to the scent of flowers that followed her everywhere, it was not something she often considered when bouncing around and spreading the fragrance wherever she went. The hospital room that she now stood in undoubtedly was permeated with the scent of lilies, which while Zoe didn’t notice, did mean that that quintessential ‘hospital smell’ also went unnoticed by the small alien woman. Zoe sighed happily as Arisu told her she had also missed her, it was strangely a relief to hear. Zoe hadn’t realized that she had been worried about whether Arisu missed her or not, but hearing she had made her heart light.

When Nyguyen greeted her, she would beam up at him. She had yet to meet anyone that had greeted her with less than cheerful enthusiasm and this man was no exception. While she had been observing the multiverse from her station in Hala she had seen many examples of worry, caution and indifference - but so far had yet to experience any of those things from the humans of earth. As far as she was concerned she had just met people in ideal circumstances - but that was absolutely not the case - she simply perceived interactions differently than most and where there may be negative emotions she automatically and unconsciously reframed them to suit the ideal of humans that she had built up in her mind.

Her question about the Otsutsuki laying in a coma in the hospital bed was answered promptly by Arisu, and Zoe would turn to look at the woman just in time to see a shudder run through her body. It confused Zoe and her forehead would crease in worry as she heard the untold story behind Arisu’s words. Her confusion had to wait for a moment as she was interrupted in her scrutiny of the coma patient by a rather stern Nyguyen. There was a flurry of activity and the body was wheeled out of the room. Most people would have felt ashamed or upset at what could have been perceived as a scolding, but not Zoe. Zoe was sunshine and rainbows and had the remarkable talent of never taking anything personally. She would just shrug nonchalantly and walk away from where the coma patient had been back towards Arisu, reaching a tentative hand out towards the taller woman. “I know you would never let anyone hurt me, Arisu. I trust you completely. In my bones. And yes, it is still unrevealed. I have been trying to make my eyes purple like yours, but mostly it just makes my head ache.” She did trust Arisu completely, it was a feeling that had not waned since their first meeting in the flower garden in Kirigakure. Zoe would grin and giggle as she spoke, her pale eyes searching Arisu’s face for an explanation for the shudder she had seen moments before. Zoe felt concern for the friends she had made on earth, but not like this. The concern she felt for others was nowhere as deep as what she felt for Arisu, and if Arisu allowed it Zoe would place her pale hand into Arisu’s equally pale hand and gently squeeze it in the hopes that she could calm whatever had caused the Otsutsuki woman momentary distress.

Turning her attention back to their host, Zoe would smile happily at Nyguyen once more. “Thanks for keeping me safe! I didn’t know she might be dangerous, which I suppose is not that surprising. There’s a big difference between observing danger and actually being in it.” As he began reassuring them that accommodations would be made for the both of them, his sentence was abruptly cut off and she noticed his gaze was drawn to the braids she had been using as a belt. She remembered that Seigi had been equally uncomfortable with her use of human remains as clothing and her smile softened as she assumed she knew what had distracted the Hokage. “I apologize if they’re disturbing. The people they belonged to died alone, with no one to remember them. I’m a Record Keeper, it’s my job to remember. I know little of who they were, but they died in the war and that should be honored. I came here to. . .” She would pause for a moment and look back and forth between Nyguyen and Arisu, checking for signs of boredom. She knew sometimes people didn’t appreciate her doing all the talking. “Look at me prattling on! Like a. . . a. . . bird prattler?” Zoe was looking for the word ‘hen’, it was an analogy she had learned about when it came to humans talking a lot.

Out of Hand, Out of Sight (Tengoku/Arisu) Empty Re: Out of Hand, Out of Sight (Tengoku/Arisu)

Post by Nyguyen Uchiha Sun Jul 04, 2021 1:55 am

Nothing escaped the attention of the Sharingan. Nyguyen's doujutsu had been scanning every corner of the room and his tactical awareness was further heightened when Zoe approached Ikomiki's body. All persons were subject to his scrutiny, even his allies. This made it impossible for him not to notice Arisu's elation at her "friend's" arrival. The woman was so stoic that Nyguyen often assumed her to be immune to the curse of emotional reactivity. Arisu's response to Zoe's presence put that theory to rest. She was happy to see her and Nyg could see why. A fragrance of beauty and lilies? filled the room. She radiated positivity and innocence for she was a true celestial of light. Nyguyen was not jealous, he was happy. Everyone should have someone to come home to in this cold and often violent universe. He had taken away such a person from Kimiko so he would do all he could to bring Zoe and Arisu closer together.

Nyguyen remained quiet as Arisu explained the situation to Zoe. She said more than he would have, but he respected her call. He did notice she wasn't eager to speak on what had happened regarding Menza. He also picked up on some interesting bits of information. Namely, Zoe's attempts to activate her Rinnegan. She had thanked him for keeping her safe and he nodded in acceptance, but it was clear his eyes were fixated on the blue and blonde braids wrapped around her waist.

Zoe's description of the deceased didn't exactly fit Nyguyen's preconceived notions of who the Kereko Twins were. He instead assumed the braids belonged to a pair of copycat ninja running around during the war that were ultimately killed in battle. He stopped gawking when he heard her refer to herself as a "Record Keeper" to which he immediately perked up. The awkwardness and uncertainty of the moment was lost and he projected confidence as Zoe touched on the one thing he knew rather well.

"A record keeper? Fascinating! On our world we have the same, historians....I am fortunate enough to count myself among them. is your position analogous? If so then I must say I'd love to exchange notes with you some time. Understanding our collective past is key to unlocking the mysteries of our future"

It was the sort of pretentious statement that his daughters might snicker at, but he guessed that this one would appreciate his wit. Nyguyen was fast becoming a fan of this petite Ōtsutsuki.

Out of Hand, Out of Sight (Tengoku/Arisu) Empty Re: Out of Hand, Out of Sight (Tengoku/Arisu)

Post by Arisu Fri Jul 09, 2021 11:14 pm

"It looks like the two of you have something in common. I'm sure Nyguyen can tell you many different stories from this planet's history. That sort of thing is beyond me, unfortunately. I only have a cursory interest in historical references. My curiosity is more in the present and a continued future."

Arisu raised an eyebrow, but a smile had worked its way onto her face. It was people like Nyguyen and Zoe that were necessary on an advisory role, as they could remember the past enough to make sure that historical blunders weren't repeated, while Arisu focused more on personal power development so that she could reach higher status and be able to protect the world from the dangers presented by others. In that manner, she'd neglected the more intellectual development of her mind.

To say she wasn't interested in history would be a lie though. She just wasn't as focused on learning about it all currently. There would be plenty of time for that in the future.

"Anyhow, Nyguyen, if you wouldn't mind showing Zoe around the village? I'm sure you two have a lot to talk about. I have a quick trip to make. I want to fetch the two of you a gift."

Assuming that the two of them were willing to allow Arisu to excuse herself, she would move towards the wall, opening a portal close to the surface of it, making it appear as if a door had appeared out of nowhere.

"I'll be back shortly. Hold onto the rod I left you and I'll be able to find you a little easier."

Stepping into it, Arisu would disappear from the room, thankful for the massive amount of chakra that she possessed. The portals she used and the Summoning from the Animal Path wasn't exactly the cheapest thing in the world, and a normal human might find themselves drained from similar amounts of usage.

Out of Hand, Out of Sight (Tengoku/Arisu) Empty Re: Out of Hand, Out of Sight (Tengoku/Arisu)

Post by Zoe Sat Jul 10, 2021 8:50 am

Zoe was ecstatic to hear that Nyguyen was a historian, her eyes would light up with joy as he began to explain his love of history. She smiled and clasped her hands together in excitement, this was the first human she had met with a distinct interest in history. “Yes, they are fairly similar, though I think the technology we used was a bit different. I was made to be a Record Keeper; that’s why I’m so small. That way I use less energy to do my job, and it helps the. . . whole. . . hmm. I guess that part doesn’t matter. I think they’re about the same, in the way that ducks and geese are the same. I think. It was my life to observe the known universe and everyone and everything in it. But more than that, I had to write it all down! And. . .”

Zoe would trail off again as she noticed Arisu’s raised eyebrow, returning the woman’s smile and tucking her hands behind her back Zoe would stare happily up at Arisu. She was frequently distracted by Arisu’s presence, and found her attention drawn in such a way that she would just gaze adoringly as Arisu spoke. When she mentioned leaving though, Zoe’s face would scrunch up with concern. She didn’t much like the idea of not being with Arisu, although she had been correct that both Zoe and Nyguyen had much in common and she was looking forward to talking more with him. When Arisu instructed her to keep the rod close, she would pat the rod where she had tucked it into her dress and nod in understanding. “I’ll keep it with me at all times. Then you can find me and we can go on more adventures. Be safe, Arisu.”

She would watch with curiosity as Arisu stepped up to a wall and created a portal in it, she would then step through and be gone. She had only been gone a second and she already missed Arisu, but she knew that she wouldn’t be gone long. She had said as much after all. With a tiny melancholic sigh she would turn from where the portal had been and back to Nyguyen. “Well, it looks like it’s just you and me for a while. You should know, I have no idea where I am right now. So a tour guide would be very helpful, usually I just wander around until something interesting happens, but I don’t want to accidentally wander into something dangerous like I almost did with the woman in the hospital bed. Oh! And I don’t mean to be a bother, but what can I eat in here?” Reaching into her boot she would pull out a notebook and pen and poise herself to begin writing. “If you don’t mind, I’d like to write this all down. You know, for posterity. And also I think this will make a fantastic story.”
