There were many taverns within the market confines of the village. With Konoha gone it was more relaxed and less quiet. Yet because of this history they were suspicious of outsiders. Any face they didn't recognize or trust had difficulties even buying food at times. Cold stares followed people around and in the winter those same people kept to themselves even more. With Iwa keeping its borders mostly closed to outsiders tourism business forms were suffering even more. The economy was still strong since they no longer paid heavy taxes or saved up for their independence.... But there was a vacuum in power which Chen seemed intent to control. Of course Tadara worked for him in secret so he was that much more likely to succeed. Not that the man would ever admit it. Not that Tadara cared if he did. There were promises of power at play and until they proved false Tadara would remain with the appearance of loyalty. He kept an eye out for criminal activity but in most cases it was not to put a stop to it. It would be important later to build contacts...to do the dirty work that kept getting in Chens way.
However that meant that Tadara had to keep up appearances for any income he was gaining outside of the normal shinobi or hospital pay. That meant a cover business. Something that allowed him access to the shadier parts of town was preferable. Luckily his knowledge in chemistry meant there was something he could do to fill all bases. He would craft honeyed mead for two or three taverns and insinuate he had several more customers. Letting the village believe he had a larger market for his goods than he did and all under the table at that...so no paper trail. If anyone inquired as to how he kept track...his photoperfect memory was the key there. There were no details he forgot...nothing he observed was truly missed. Even if he didn't notice it at the time he could access those memories and reformulate the details. Still in this particular instance he had located a tavern somewhat out of the way deep within the market section of the city. Shady deals happened here and the tavern mistress was actually an information broker. However he had not approached her about those details yet. That would need to be done outside of the normal business hours. Preferably where she felt vulnerable.
The Tavern itself had an inside for its well paying customers but it also had a covered outdoors sitting area with a fire pit keeping those who were only interested in paying for drinks. It was warm enough out there and kept out most of the wind with towering buildings on all sides. The fire provided warmth while shadier deals were done in private inside. There were just two tables with bench seats on either side of the fire pit but at the moment it was during work hours so it was mostly empty aside from two or three souls. The window for service had the mistress sitting behind it looking over a piece of paper. She was a larger woman in average clothes with thick red hair and a white streak through her bangs. Next to her inside by her seat was a large mace for troublemakers. Tadara would approach to make his sales to her at his usual delivery time. He was wearing black dress boots with modified soles for grip and a pair of black slacks tucked over them. His white button up shirt was untucked but he was wearing a thicker white long coat with fur inlining the insides. His constitution had never been the best so he was taking precautions. White hair framed his face in a messy style while empty black eyes seemed to stare forward as if looking into a void. Over his breast pocket on the coat was his Iwa headband stitched in. Having shinobi status was useful. Strapped with thick rope to his back however was a single capped vase of the honeyed mead. About two gallons of it as it was all he could carry for the moment.
