2022 Site Updates

Welcome to the New Year! Thank you all for staying with us throughout the years and building the world and community of Gladius into what it is today. Our most recent Event, The War in Heaven was a smashing success and we owe it all to you. As a thank you for both participating in the Event and as a special Holiday treat we would like to offer everyone a one time gift of 250 Total EXP. This may be claimed on every character via that character’s updates and is claimable until January 31st 2022 @ 11:59PM EST.

Immediately following the cutoff for claiming your holiday gift will be the First Activity Check of 2022 on February 1st. The check will run for 2 weeks as normal, though the template has changed. You can find the original announcement here.


After a dazzling display of might and unity by the Shinobi of the known world, the Kujira Indaina has been defeated.

This victory is bittersweet however. Although the plan for the Enlightened Society of Rebirth and Reordering has been stymied and the Indaina Kujira rendered inert as a threat, there were many casualties of the War in Heaven, including the mysterious disappearance of the city’s creator - Okane Tomi. The many attacks that were centred on the Heavenly Emporium caused the marvellous city to come crashing down in the middle of the Kaizoku Sea. The small amount of power left within it keeps it afloat and in a static location, however it is a pale shadow of what it once was.

There is a new sub forum for the Heavenly Emporium. It is now a single location, is no longer tied to Event Rules and requires travel. It is in the center of the Kaizoku Sea (Half the Kaizoku Sea is 36 hours as per the travel rules, which have been updated to remove all mention of the Heavenly Emporium.) Presently, due to the destruction, no NPC goods or services may be purchased or used at the Heavenly Emporium (this means no marketplace, no enchanting, no hospitals etc.).

We are allowing everyone a single exit post per thread they are currently in, this exit will place the character back at their previous location (their homebase) without the need for OOC travel time. Any new posts that are not exits (either in an ongoing RT thread or starting a new thread that is not a flashback) will mean that your character is now physically present on the Wreckage of the Heavenly Emporium and will be required to follow the travel rules as normal. This will of course mean that every thread that character is in that is outside of the Wreckage of the Heavenly Emporium will be forced to become a flashback if they choose to stay at the HE (which will halve experience, void mission completion and disallow the trading of goods, services or ryo as normal).

In addition we will be locking the original Heavenly Emporium subforum found here on January 31st, 2022 @ 11:59PM EST. We advise that you exit any ongoing threads (Real Time or Flash Back) by that time as they will be inaccessible after that.

We promised great rewards for participation in the most recent Theatre of War and fear not, they will be announced shortly!

Thanks again for your participation in the Rise of the Indaina Kujira Event. Rewards have been posted here!

Three Clarifications on the Indaina Kujira Rewards:

1. You may gift a reward to an alt or another player's character with staff permission.

2. You may not select the same reward more than twice.

3. If you select the Gravity Release Bloodline on a currently existing clanless character, you lose any clanless benefits.

4. The AI ES is completely custom. All that is required is that it relates to Fuuinjutsu and the concept of Artificial Intelligence.

5. All rewards must be claimed by January 31, 2022 at 11:59 PM EST

Some announcements:

1. We have officially clarified the rules on how assistance works for the new Control Fight Rules:

"Helpers can assist for a limited amount of time. They can only assist for the first two rounds of the Control Fight before they are forced outside of the inner realm. This means the modifier will end after the second round under the dice rules."

2. Kirigakure is now open once more for registration!

3. The Gladius Jury has been updated:

Clarified the Bases section of the General Organisation and Village Rules.

Complexes (Small, Medium, Large and Vast) and Dwellings (Outpost, Town, Village, City and Metropolis) have stacking building times, even though upgrading from the previous tier provides a ryo cost deduction.

E.g. Building a Metropolis from the ground up (with no previously registered and approved constructed dwellings) will cost 10 Million Ryo and 100 OOC days to construct (10 OOC days for the Outpost, 15 OOC days for the Town, 20 OOC days for the Village, 25 OOC days for a City and 30 OOC days for a Metropolis). Similarly, building a Vast Complex (with no previously registered and approved constructed complexes) will cost 1 Million Ryo and 29 OOC days to construct (3 OOC days for a Small, 5 OOC days for a Medium, 7 OOC days for a Large and 14 OOC days for a Vast).

Chakra Suppression has been edited to the following: Also generally, since the user is suppressing their chakra they may not use techniques except for Taijutsu, Kenjutsu, Bukijutsu and Kyujutsu C Rank Techniques and below.

Quick Announcement:

All players who are taking the Gravity Release Bloodline are eligible for a free reset.

The first Activity Check of 2022 is now live! As always this check will last for two weeks, meaning it will end February 15th at 11:59 PM EST. Posts that are considered a pass must have been made between January 18th 2021 and February 15th 2022.

The time for claiming Rewards from the Indaina Kujira Event is now over. (Don’t worry if the claims aren’t approved yet, as long as the update was made before 11:59PM EST January 31st then you’re good.)

The old Heavenly Emporium event subforum is now LOCKED. As was announced here the Heavenly Emporium now has a different subforum, no longer has OOC violence protection and requires travel time.

Clarified how assets are handled when conquering a minor nation. Assets are NPCs, buildings and defenses (traps, walls and secrecy).

Minor Nation Assets

When conquering a Minor Nation there are various ways that this can be accomplished, each of these options slightly changes how the Assets that come with a Minor Nation are handled.

Attacking:

• All NPCs are considered to have been killed in action.
  
• Defenses must be purchased again (with the notable exception of certain Defenses that are naturally occurring.)
  
• Buildings (including the Outpost itself) may be destroyed or not, this is left to the discretion of the conquerors.

Buyout:

• NPCs are kept, though they are no longer considered Unique and all S-Rank NPCs (if any) are downgraded to A-Rank, and their upkeep costs must be paid.
  
• Defenses are kept, though their upkeep costs (if any) must be paid.
  
• Buildings are kept, though their upkeep costs (if any) must be paid.
  

Influence:
Because of the nature of this option, the following rules are the base standard, though may not be applicable depending on how the process is roleplayed out.

• NPCs are kept, though they are no longer considered Unique and all S-Rank NPCs (if any) are downgraded to A-Rank, and their upkeep costs must be paid.
  
• Defenses are kept, though their upkeep costs (if any) must be paid.
  
• Buildings are kept, though their upkeep costs (if any) must be paid.

It has officially been six months so we are marking the passage of another IC year. To be clear, this is NOT a timeskip. Its just stating that 1 IC year has passed since this post. Also the timeline has been updated. You can check it out here. We are also pleased to announce that we have just reached 10 Years of IC History! Thank you to all who contributed to the site's ongoing story and in-game lore!

A few housekeeping/QOL changes;

The Chemistry and Crafting Guidelines have been spellchecked. (The graphic for the Crafting Guideline will be fixed soon.)

The ranges and speeds for the Katon Fire Jutsu: Great Fireball Technique are now correctly listed as follows;

Range: v1 0 - 25m | v2 0 - 100m

Speed: v1 B | v2 C++

Please ensure that if you have this technique that you update it accordingly.

The last Activity Check of 2022 has been successfully completed! All Rosters and Restricted Lists have been updated as well you can find them here and here.

If you don’t see your name on a Roster or List and you think it should be there, please let staff know, we don’t want anyone falling through the cracks.

The next Activity Check will begin on February 1st 2023 (so you’ll have a bit more time than usual, since we started this last one early to give people time).
