Gate Interrupted

Mission:

Ren would walk through the village with a slight annoyance clearly written on his face, he had planned to take Kanara out to dinner, but those plans were interrupted by Kanara being assigned to gate sentry duty. Ren was not the kind of person to let much bother him, but when he made plans and something gets in the way of it, it tends to get under his skin. He was not at all angry at Kanara, as it was not her fault, it was simply her responsibility as a Jounin to help where the village needed help. It just happened to come at an unfortunate time, considering what they were doing at the time she got the notice, as well as their plans for that evening. With his plans going up in smoke like a fire in the rain, Ren was visibly perturbed by the entire situation. Though his original plans were ruined, Ren could still turn the night around. He was good at improvising and thinking on his feet, when he had to, and considering this was a date with Kanara that got ruined he needed to make it up somehow.

Ren would make various stops at different shops and stores before arriving in front of the diner he had planned to take Kanara to, going inside and ordering two of the biggest steaks, and porkchops that the place had as well as various sides, all to go. Once everything was done, Ren would grab all the bags of food and drinks and snacks that he had purchased and make his way to the village gates. Kanara's shift would have already started by the time the food got done, and he did not tell her he was coming, as he wanted it to be a surprise. As he opened the door to see Kanara, his face would visibly brighten at the sight of the woman, "I brought you dinner." Ren would state with a smile to her, "Just like you asked for, though I am sorry that I could not take you to the diner." Ren would add in a seldom voice, as he sat the various bags down on the counter. Pulling out the items from the bags, Ren would explain what everything was as he did, allowing Kanara to take what she wanted from it all. "I decided since our evening plans were interrupted, I would join you this evening and would bring what would have been our dinner to you."

Ren would join Kanara at the table eating, and when someone approach the gate, Ren would rise up from his seat and take care of everything that needed to be taken care of to ensure that the people trying to enter had the correct papers and those that left had the proper papers to return. Having done this very same thing only a few weeks ago as some on the job training, Ren knew all too well the process and what to do. This would allow Kanara to do what Ren enjoyed most, her sitting there and looking beautiful and relaxing. Considering there was not much traffic, Ren would not have to stop eating very often but when he did, he did so with a smile. He enjoyed doing things for Kanara, even small stuff such as this. He didn't do it because he was trying to get something out of her in return, all he wanted was to spend time with her and continue to get to know her. if he had to sign a few documents and check a few passports in order to spend time with her, then that was what he was going to do. As they would finish eating, Ren would look to Kanara with a smile, "Not the best second date in the world, I know, but considering the circumstances... Not bad, right?" Ren stated with a chuckle before heading back to the window to check another entry visa.

As Ren would go to check the visa, he couldn't help but feel as though something was wrong with it, asking the man to wait he would take the man's identification over to Kanara and giving it to her to inspect before stepping out of the guard station. "Sir, I am afraid we are going to have to detain you until we can verify your credentials to enter the village." Ren would state in a calm voice to the man standing in front of him, he did not look like a threat, but Ren was not stupid and knew that looks could be deceiving. Keeping the man at a distance so he would have time to react, Ren would usher the man into the guard station and into a holding cell while Kanara figured everything out through the proper channels. Though as her shift would soon be coming to an end, it was highly possible that this man would be the next shifts problem. Ren would return to the window of the station to watch the gates some more while he waited for the next guard to show up. With the exception of the one-man Ren detained, the night had gone by pretty peacefully, and Ren was able to enjoy the company of Kanara for another night. After Kanara would finish debriefing the next watch, Ren would take her hand in his as they exited the guard station. "So will it be my place or yours, to rest?" Ren would ask as they headed out and home.

Obviously someone had to get sick. While kanara couldnt blame them, after all she often was sick as a child as well and sometimes even called in sick when she knew her presence wasnt needed, but as the devil willed it, watching the gate was one of the few things that actually required her to be present. Phsyically at that. After all, one could never know if an attack was imminent and a shadow clone would just disperse, leaving the rest of the guard at the gate alone and in potential danger, which in itself was rather unacceptable. As such, she had to tell ren that their date had to be cancelled and that she was, before pressing a kiss onto his forehead and then heading out towards the gate, guarding it till evening.

Unbeknownst to her, Ren had a plan B however. While she had known that this pissed him off likely, there wasnt really anything she could do against it sadly, as such it was both a surprise, as well as something new to see him opeing the door next to the guard house at the gate, carrying a large bag together with him as he entered. Watching his face lighten up by just seeing her, she would activate her sharingan briefliy to see if her colleagues were just messing with her, before she found him to be the real deal. Standing up to hug him, despite the bags he was carrying she would ask: "What are you doing here? Its just guard duty! Were you afraid i had cancelled our date just for the sake of it?", before hearing the answer and replying simply by kissing the uchiha once more, before formign a handseal and summoning a few shadow clones, sending them out to act in her name while she was taking a seat once more.

"Oh thats fine! What did you bring though? It smells heavenly!" she would ask Ren before he began to pull out the things out of the bag, placing them in front of the two at the table. With him letting her have the choice, she would go for one of the 2 servings of steaks and porkchops and take a good bit from the mac'n'cheese, as well as potato stamps and garlic butter. waiting until he was sitting, Kanara would thank him for the food, before startig to eat. Strangely she wouldnt apply the garlic butter to the steak and pork chops however and instead would spread it over her warm potatoe stamps, makng it melt on top of them and letting them take in all the nice taste fromthe butter. The steak itself was perfect as well. While Ren likely had made a shot in the dark, she liked it medium rare, and even was a girl that was more then willing to eat it rare as well, if she wanted. After all, Kanara wasnt picky and compared to what she normally ate this was a luxury.

As they were eating, people were coming and going at a natural pace, the clones would be able to handle most of it, together with the other shinobi's at the gate. One of the benefits of actually being Jounin was the fact that noone would bother fer for sitting around, even less so when her clones were all around, making sure that everything was according to plan and regulations until Ren stood up and took at turn at it as well. As they were still eating, Kanara would put her cutlery down as well and stand up, accompanying him and the finally returning back to the table where they would finsih their meal and then sit there, just talking and holding their hands across the table. "With you every date is nice..." Kanara would give out to Ren in a smile, as he stated how it wasnt exactly what he had wished it to be. Kanara however, was happy in this moment and eager to show so.

Finally at the end of their shift neared, they would be tasked with controlling one last visitor beforethe gate was being closed. Handing Ren the ID of the man and his papers, it woudlnt take lon guntil he returned and told him that he needed to stay for a while, during which his papers were checked. Leacing Ren to handle to prisoner, Kanara would notify her colleagues to do the right things, befor she waited for ren to return to her, where he took a hold of her hand right awayand led her away from the gates, asking here where they would be today evening: "Hmm... yours i would say", Kanara finally would give out and follow ren to his home, after having kissed him once mroe on the cheek.
