It was a dark night, particularly so given that the moon had not graced them with it’s presence that night, the shadow of the planet itself hiding it from the sun's light and keeping it from being visible to their eyes. This presented a much darker than average night and Tamwyn was making wondrous use of it. Hell, he imagined Yenn would be having an easier time in it too. Given that both of them wore primarily black gear. It would be easy enough to remain hidden, even without counting their stealth capabilities from simply being trained as shinobi. They were tailing a man who was suspected of kidnapping young women. Or rather, suspecting that he was involved with the kidnappings. They were tasked with following him and confirming the suspicion. Although they weren’t to engage tonight. They were to follow and get information, then report back. A proper sting would be planned and handled, probably by Tamwyn and Yenn again, either later that night or the next day.

Tamwyn kept to the rooftops, his sensory ability active and locked onto the individual. He could sense everyone within a 250m range of himself. Including Yenn, and the man they were tailing. Now that he had associated him with a specific chakra signature now, he could follow him so long as he didn’t get out of that range. Which he would never allow to happen. They followed him, watching him carefully as he moved through the streets of the village and eventually Tamwyn would witness the man begin to talk with an attractive young woman. She started to laugh and blush and it was clear he was flirting with her. Eventually she would decide to travel with him and as they followed he would see two more men come from side streets and walk behind them, appearing for all the world as if they were simply moving through the city as well. However as they moved down a secluded street the two men would waylay the woman, knocking her out and taking her somewhere.

A dark and moonless night was just how Yenn liked it. Less light meant less chance of anyone seeing her. And if no one could see her then they wouldn’t try to interact with her. Dressed in black leather as was her usual attire she felt more confident as she slipped through the shadows with Tamwyn, keeping an eye on their target. Had the purpose of the mission not been so horrifying she might have actually been happy with this one. Their target was a man suspected of making young women ‘disappear’, and the implications of that made Yenn’s stomach churn. Despite her own tragic upbringing she was finding that she had been incredibly sheltered growing up. And the more she learned of the criminal activity that went on within Kumogakure on a daily basis the more disgusted she became with the city as a whole.

She kept up as best she could with Tamwyn, not on the roof though. She still liked her ankles and wasn’t too keen to break them. She trailed quietly behind the man on the ground, sticking to the shadows and moving out of his line of sight as he walked seemingly nonchalantly through the darkened streets. After a while he stopped to talk to a young woman, who appeared to not mind his company at all. This made Yenn feel better about the whole situation, she’d heard rumblings of the incompetence of the local police force and she would be ecstatic to see those rumours proved correct. Sadly the pair would be joined from behind by two shady looking men and the girl knocked out and dragged into a side street. Yenn knew she was just supposed to be gathering information but she couldn’t see how she was just supposed to watch this and do nothing. She would take note of where the group had gone to and look around frantically for Tamwyn, hoping that he might have a better option for her than ‘observe and report.’

Tamwyn’s face scrunched up in disgust at the predicament. Their mission orders were quite clear on this and that meant they couldn’t interfere until they had reported in and sadly, while they could confirm that the man they had suspected was indeed involved, that was all they knew. It might be that they still had to figure out where the girl was being taken and he sighed in annoyance as he looked down toward Yenn and shook his head and shrugged at her. A disgusted look still on his features. It would be as clear a sign of ‘Don’t interfere’ and ‘I don’t like this either.’ as he could make given the circumstances. Still, they could follow the two shady men now instead of the initial target and they would take them to where they took the women. Probably some kind of illegal brothel or something. Then they could report and request that the sting be instigated immediately. Given that they would probably be willing to do the work of performing the operation he doubted there would be any resistance to the idea.

So Tamwyn motioned for Yenn to tail the other two men and he would do the same from the rooftops. Watching them carefully and ensuring that he didn’t lose them as they carried the woman through winding back streets and alleys, ensuring that they did not come close to any of the normal populace that might still be out at this hour of the night. It would be difficult to explain why they were carrying the unconscious woman in such an unsavory environment at that hour without being suspicious and that would definitely get the authorities called upon them. So they took their time and were careful about not being seen. By anyone other than the two that had already seen them that was. Eventually they would lead them to an unsavory looking building with no sign, which an illegal brothel wouldn’t have, and disappeared inside. Nodding to himself he would turn to Yenn and nod to her as well. Time to report in, he’d jump down and move to hug her tight to him, wordlessly unfurling wings of pure raiton chakra from his back as he activated for Seraph’s Brilliance and then taking off, flying them to their mission report so that they could insist on enacting the sting immediately.

Yenn was mortified that there was nothing they could do. She hated that so-called ‘laws’ and ‘protocols’ prevented them from actually helping this poor woman. She wondered darkly if those same laws had been what had stopped anyone from helping her. The more she thought on it as she followed after the men carrying their victim, the more the already dark sky deepened as the stars winked out under the cover of gathering clouds. It had felt like only a few short days ago when she had still been relatively innocent of the criminal undercurrents of the village, and every new mission brought more terrible things to light. And she wasn’t pleased with any of them. She had known that her childhood home had been corrupt, but she had always held out hope that it was an anomaly, and that hope had kept her going. Without the knowledge that the rest of the world wasn’t a terrible place she was left with a simmering rage heaped onto her despair.

They trailed after them, Tamwyn on the rooftops and her on the streets, until they finally entered an unmarked building. Given everything else they’d been doing she imagined it was probably another illegal brothel and she shook her head in disgust. As Tamwyn pulled her into his arms she would grip him tightly as she trembled with rage at the unfairness of the world. She let her mind wander to all the things she would do to these criminals if given half a chance. She hadn’t been ready before, but she would gladly kill now.
