 After the mission with Ningyo, she saw potential in the young Uchiha. She figured that she had prowess with fire and genjutsu -- given her Uchiha lineage. Having already traveled to the Grand Konoha Training Facility ahead of time, she mentioned a time and exactly where in the Grand Konoha Training Facility for the two to meet. She sat on her rear and leaned back, standing next to her usual training dummy that she affectionately named 'Fred'. It was a strange top-of-the-line Training Dummy that gave audial feedback to give advice about technique. While it was neat that she was near Fred, she wasn't going to use Fred for this session. She had a few ideas, a few things she wanted to teach her. Something she dabbled in a bit of and something she believed may somewhat assist in Ningyo's development into a shinobi.She let out a loud yawn and laid back upon the grass floor of the Training Facility, waiting for Ningyo to arrive. Was this how it was for Tengoku when she was his student? Excitement and fear? Excitement to have a student and possibly see them growing up to become a terrifying and strong shinobi and fear that she might train the shinobi incorrectly and fail her student. It might have been a mixture of the two that made her want to train this young Uchiha -- that and she had a strange affinity for members of the clan. Now she just waited for Ningyo to arrive. | |

Ningyo was excited. She drank some green vegetable juice. She would do whatever it took to be the best. Today was finally the day Ningyo had been told to meet Airi for some training at the GKTF. That meant that she would finally get some training from a higher ranking ninja, and not just any Jounin, but a superpower level ninja! Ningyo cinched her headband on tightly and strapped on her weighted legwarmers. She stared at herself seriously in the mirror, amping herself up. Today was training day, her first day with what could possibly be a new sensei.
Ningyo wanted to continue to perform for and impress Airi. She made her way through the Konoha street, hearing the hustle and bustle of the city traffic. The hard work she had done to train herself had led to this point, but the path was just beginning to stretch before her. She felt the weight of the moment and the literal weight the legwarmers added to her stride.

She smiled brightly towards the Uchiha and nod=ded her head. "You're probably curious why I invited you here, aren't you? Well," she said a bit, looking around. "There's going to be a shinobi world Chuunin Exam coming up soon and I was hoping you'd want to participate," she said a bit awkwardly. She never asked anyone this kind of question as she didn't have the experience of participating in a global Chuunin exam before. She was kind've handed her rank because of all of the missions she had been on. She cleared her throat and awaited her answer before flipping her hair a bit. Once, if, Ningyo answered, she turned to look at her before thinking a bit. "But before I can actually teach you anything, I guess I should ask what your specialties are" she mentioned. Ningyo listened as Airi explained the reason for the invitation to the Training Facility. She was focused on Airi, curios and interested. When Airi mentioned the upcoming Chuunin Exam, Ningyo's eyebrows raised slightly, indicating surprise. She hadn't expected such an invitation. Only recently had she graduated from the academy.
Airi's awkwardness didn't escape Ningyo's notice, but made the situation feel more genuine and less formal. When Airi asked if she would want to participate, Ningyo showed a firm resolve. "Absolutely, Airi-sensei. I'd be honored to participate in the Chuunin Exam,"
Ningyo considered the Chuunin exams, not knowing what to expect. The exams, as with everything, could be potentially dangerous. It could certainly be just as easy to get to a Chuunin equivalent rank herself, but participating in a intervillage exam event could allow her to test the limit of her abilities against other shinobi as serious as herself and put on a sort of show. | Airi pressed her palms together in joy and gave Ningyo a radiant smile. "Good! That was the answer I was hoping for." she responded positively. She felt more energized, especially after she called her 'Airi-Sensei'. It had been a while since she was called a sensei -- not since her last student -- who was also an Uchiha, called her Sensei. She stood and listened to Ningyo's specialties and nodded. "Well, sadly, I don't have any actual weapons to give you that would help with your specialty. But I know someone who does sell a bit more powerful weapons. And I can deck you out in some -- decent armor," she said. She was ultimately going to give up on the crafting profession and focus more on combat capability. "I can buy you some stuff if you really want and probably craft you something quick -- something that'll last you for a while, well, armor-wise if you want," she mentioned. Genjutsu was one of her specialties as well as non-elemental ninjutsu. She was quite competent with Non-element Ninjutsu, even having created her own variants of Rasengan. "I can teach you some intermediate level Genjutsu if you'd like. And since you're a Bukijutsu specialist, there is one specific technique I want to teach you." | |

She resisted her implicit urge to refuse special treatment in regards to the armor, but acquiesced eventually "Only if you want to Airi, I would be immensely grateful for whatever you might want to make for me, if you think it will help in the Chuunin Exam. I just want to state my preference that the armor be something light, since my specialties don't particularly synergize with using bulky armor."

| Airi nodded, making a mental note to what she wanted. She examined what Ningyo was wearing at the moment -- a rather skin-tight outfit that was good for mobility. Yes, she could think of something. Maybe turning Meteor Metal into threads and weaving it into fabric. She did have some Monarch's Providence left, she could teach Ningyo how to use that -- which would come in handy in some sneaky situations -- since Ningyo, from the two missions she accompanied her on, seemed to value stealth. Granted, that was a very big weakness for Airi as she was more up-front when it came to confrontation. "Lightweight armor. Alright. I'll think of something," she said before giving her a nod. She had to also purchase some weapons for her that would give her an edge as well as make a few enchantments for her armor that would also give her an edge. Clearing her throat, she activated her Byakkugan and entered into her Honed Gentle Fist style. "This technique I'm going to teach you requires you to throw an object. I'm too weak to throw anything, apparently, so you'll just need to do so and quickly follow my handseals," she said as she waited for Ningyo to pull out a throwing weapon and throw it. As soon as she did, Airi performed the handseals 'Tiger-Rat-Dog' in quick succession, slowing it down extremely so Ningyo could see it. "That is a technique called Shuriken Giant Body. If done right, it'll make the size of whatever you're throwing to something huge. Pretty useful when trying to catch your opponent off-guard." she said. Airi made a remark about the armor she was planning on crafting for Ningyo. Regardless of the weight she would be grateful. She could only imagine what Airi had in mind. She then activated her Byakkugan, starting right into showing Ningyo the first jutsu. They both seemed excited to get started.
Ningyo watched as Airi demonstrated the move to her. She didn't throw the shuriken, expecting Ningyo to do that herself apparently. Airi pantomimed the handseals and NIngyo mimicked her movements. After following Airi's directions, it was time to try for herself.
She retrieved a shuriken from her hip pouch, holding the small shuriken between her index finger and thumb. She tossed the star in a throwing motion. adding a little curve to the shuriken. It glided gently through the air.
As soon as the star left Ningyo's fingers her hands dropped back directly to her chest and she quickly punched out the Rabbit -> Tiger -> Dog handseals with efficiency and alacrity. Her chakra focussed remotely into the shuriken and it expanded and grew ten times it's size, roughly the size of a giant shuriken.
The giant shuriken slammed into the wall with a thud. Not only was this technique Bukijutsu, her specialty, but it was a technique she had already been practicing so that she would be able to use it reflexively once the occasion arose. This was one of the "loudest" techniques Ningyo knew, a large scale offensive technique with a big, fast moving object. She didn't mention this though, maybe Airi would think she had a natural talent. "Like that?" Ningyo said with an eloquent poker face.

| Airi clapped her palms together and smiled, she had a look of delight upon her face. "That's good! That's good! You're quite the quick learner, Ningyo. But now I want to teach you something a bit more," she said with a bit of a pause. "Difficult," she said taking a deep breath in before creating a plus-sign with her fingers before creating 5 additional clones of herself. The clones, themselves started to lounge and vegetate. Yawning and loafing around. These acted a bit different than standard clones. "Okay, so these are shadow clones. Quite a handy technique if you ask me. But it does come with a bit of a cost... And I probably wouldn't use it TOO often unless you have bigger chakra reserves. So I think me teaching this to you might be a bit on the more difficult side. I'd probably just summon only 1 Shadow Clone if I were you," she said, observing her chakra reserves with her Byakkugan. She waved her hand causing all of the Shadow Clones to go poof and return her chakra back to her. "So let's try it. It's kinda similar to making a Clone, but you're going to pour SO much more chakra into it. Like, splitting your chakra in half, ya know?" she mentioned. It was kind of hard to explain it herself -- it was more of a feeling she had when she learned it rather than actually knowing it. She cleared her throat and mimicked the handseals required for Shadow Clone, a simple handseal that was to be held until the shadow clones were created. | |

Ningyo performed the plus sign clone seal, this part was easy enough. She concentrated, dispersing her chakra into two even parts summoning the clone. A cloud of smoke manifested. Where the clone would have appeared the smoke lingered. Ningyo focussed harder, the tension in her face exhibiting her mental straining. The smoke seemed to billow. She stopped focusing and the smoke disappeared. The clones half of the chakra returned to her. Am I doing something wrong? thought Ningyo.
Ningyo usually picked up these techniques up easily, she would be remiss, embarrassed even, if Airi had presented her with a technique she wasn't able to learn. Ningyo performed the seal again. "Kage Bunshin no Jutsu" she attempted again to make one clone.
This time through the will of her focus a cloud of smoke spontaneously manifested with a poof and the clone appeared. She walked laterally and mixed up places with her clone. Which was the real Ningyo? The clone remained for a few moments before dissolving with the accompanying smoke.

Tengoku had been busy as of late but the time had come that Airi had claimed she would be one hundred percent again. He didn't doubt her conviction. However if she were to attempt to step back into his seat again he would need to see it for himself. Besides that there were rumors his beloved student had taken another of her own. An Uchiha at that. He swore they were involved in absolutely everything in the village. It was such a large clan. Producing more prominent members than all the other clans combined. Tengoku himself had never been part of a larger clan. The last time he got involved in clan politics those present had been ready to attack him at the drop of a hat. Well half of them had. This was before Ren had turned into someone who disliked him. It was frustrating that the most thorough ninja serving in the village right now was at odds with him. Still he would pack up his work for the day before collecting his gear. Today was a cold one out so Tengoku was wearing his thicker yellow and black robes with a sword belt holding it tight together. Under the robe was a set of sleeveless black shinobi outfit. From the black soft bottom shoes to the black Shorts tied at the knee into the black sleeveless top.
On his left hip a katana made of black and red Tetsudashi steel was held tightly to his belt in its sheath above a silver and black wakizashi with intricate designs on the hilt. On the small of his back was his chakra draining arrows in a quiver and a collapsed bow named Soulstring above it holding it in place. On his left hip was a brown jug corked tightly of something called hero water. Under his robes were six golden rings. The reason why he was sleeveless and had shorts instead of pants. On his ankles, wrists and upper arms were golden feathered rings for his armor. They were known to expand into shin, arm and shoulder guards. Finally he slipped into his gauntlets and left out the window. His white flowing hair seemed to soar behind him as he flew from one roof to the next in sheet speed with a smile on his face. He had someone find Airi after all and he was eager to observe her as a sensei. A student becoming the teacher was such a proud moment.
Still he would enter after they had already begun training one technique and moved onto the next. Airi seemed to be moving about fine but that didn't mean she was back to full strength. Still his wolf like ears would twitch. His eyes shifted to the giant shuriken. The whites of his eyes had long since turned black. In place of his iris two shining golden crosses had taken their place. Still he would suppress his chakra in the presence of her student for now. The weight of the sheer amount of chakra he had would be too much for most genin to bear. Still he would let his eyes fall upon the two of them and their clones practice as he stopped his approach a good twenty meters away. Crossing his arms quietly and just observing with a smile. He wouldn't interrupt her training method until she took the time to introduce him. They were verging on a break through on the clone technique it seemed. Though she was struggling to maintain it. He couldn't use his chakra sensory and chakra suppression at the same time though so he simply watched and listened with his chakra kept down to the levels of the average street merchant.
On his left hip a katana made of black and red Tetsudashi steel was held tightly to his belt in its sheath above a silver and black wakizashi with intricate designs on the hilt. On the small of his back was his chakra draining arrows in a quiver and a collapsed bow named Soulstring above it holding it in place. On his left hip was a brown jug corked tightly of something called hero water. Under his robes were six golden rings. The reason why he was sleeveless and had shorts instead of pants. On his ankles, wrists and upper arms were golden feathered rings for his armor. They were known to expand into shin, arm and shoulder guards. Finally he slipped into his gauntlets and left out the window. His white flowing hair seemed to soar behind him as he flew from one roof to the next in sheet speed with a smile on his face. He had someone find Airi after all and he was eager to observe her as a sensei. A student becoming the teacher was such a proud moment.
Still he would enter after they had already begun training one technique and moved onto the next. Airi seemed to be moving about fine but that didn't mean she was back to full strength. With a small 'pop' Ningyo kinda poofs out of existence. Blinking, she shook her head. Just like others that just randomly vanish, Airi let out a loud sigh before dispersing her Shadow Clones. "I hate it when that happens" she stated before turning her attention towards Tengoku. It wasn't his chakra that she sensed, she just visually saw him with the power of the Byakkugan. She turned to face him and placed a hand upon her hips and gave him a rather large smile. She let her Byakkugan vanish, giving way to her pure blue eyes. The cleavage upon her kimono showed plenty of it and she didn't even bother adjusting herself. "Well, to what do I owe the pleasure, Lord Hokage?" she asked, looking the man over briefly before lowering her arms back down to her side before arching her back and laced her fingers together and stretched her arms straight up over her head. She closed her eyes and let out a small moan as her muscles cracked and popped from the stretch. After the stretch, she readjusted her posture and lowered her arms down to her side. She had also undergone surgery with her distant cousin in the Uzumaki Clan gifting her with something special. Thankfully, the bloodline allowed her to heal it off almost instantly. "I never asked. Ningyo continued struggling with materializing the shadow clone, concentrating as it materialized in and out of existence. At some point I'll definitely get the hang out this! she thought. She continued training as she saw out of the corner of her eye, another shinobi entering the large training room. At first, his presence didn't seem that imposing. But slowly however, Ningyo realized that it was the Hokage of the village himself, come to grant Airi and her a private visit. This was a little surprising, had he come perhaps just to see how training was going? Ningyo had never had an audience with the Hokage before, and upon his entry into the room the tone of the training shifted, if only slightly.
Today was only her first training with Airi and the Kage himself had appeared. This was maybe proof of her sensei's standing within the village. "Hokage-sama" Ningyo said briefly as she bowed succinctly. She showed the customary deference and waited for Airi to introduce her. As far as she knew however, the Kage had access to information on all of the Genin of the village, so it very well may be the case that he already knew who Ningyo was.
Now that the Kage was personally attending Ningyo's trainings perhaps it was a sign that she was moving up in the ninja world. Regardless, Ningyo didn't let it go to her head and let the comic idea pass as quickly as it had come. It was best to focus on the here and now work of practice. She returned to learning the Kage Bunshin, attempting to flawlessly complete the jutsu. She tried perhaps only a little bit harder as now there was the opportunity to impress the Hokage.
With this added impetus bolstering her concentration, Ningyo performed the clone seal and finally corporeally materialized a single Kage Bunshin copy of herself. "I got it!" she added. It was difficult, but with Airi's instruction it had been possible. Due to her small amount of chakra, it was necessary that her energy for the technique be balanced just right. While she busied herself with practicing, she turned her attention to subtly Airi and the new visitor, taking an interest in what would happen.

Tengoku would watch quietly until he was addressed. He could feel the fluctuations in her chakra as he was sure Airi could. Chakra control was difficult. When one had an abundance they could afford to blast chakra left and right and were more accustomed to using it for higher tier jutsu. However those with smaller pools had been conservative all their lives. It was an unusual feeling to flex their chakra and split it like that. Likely Tengoku would have started by having her work on her chakra levels. Like the first time Airi and her team had met him. He had them work on their chakra control and encouraged chakra workouts. A type of meditation that helped raise chakra levels over time. He had been faithful to it for a long time. Though his own chakra levels had come from multiple sources now. He smiled though as Airi would look to him and almost snarkily greet him. After all she often seemed to move in enticing ways. Yet their relationship wasn't like that. Tengoku was nothing more than a squad leader who had trained with her a couple of times. Her power now was mostly through her own efforts with little to do with him.
Still the young lady would give him a curt greeting. Her file was a recent Uchiha graduate. Another of their members joining the ranks. As of yet she hadn't done much of note. Outside of her father's role in the village she did not have much of a name yet. His gold and black eyes would shift to her as she spoke. Those eyes seemed to see everything. | Airi rubs her eyes. She could've sworn she saw Ningyo pop out of existence. No, it was probably the Elder Gods messing with her. Yes, that had to be it. She shook her head to return to reality after thinking she was hallucinating. She quickly regained her composure as she watched Ningyo perform Shadow Clone. She pressed her palms together in delight and gave her a big smile. "Very good, Ningyo! That's actually a really hard technique to learn. Just make sure you don't abuse it until your chakra pool gets bigger," she said still with a big cheesy smile upon her face. Seeing her student, well, at least that's what she'd like to call her, excelling in these techniques was quite a spectacular scene for her and made her heart swell with pride. She puffed up her chest, proud of Ningyo's capabilities. Uchiha or not, Ningyo was quite intelligent for a child her age. She turned her attention back to Tengoku. Her heart sank a bit at the information about the vault being robbed. She rubbed her chin and groaned. Teleportation would seem like the correct reason but the fact that she placed all of the items that Peragus and Kimiko had ripped off of Raijin's body upon his assassination. She recoiled and blinked. Her body stiffened a bit and anger started to seep into her, turning her face red. She had to talk more about this stuff with Tengoku in private. She turned to look towards Ningyo, her demeanor quickly changed. "You will not repeat anything that you just heard, do you understand? And put that thing away before you go unconscious" she asked, telling Ningyo to put away the Shadow Clone. It wasn't really a request but more of an order, well, mainly an order about not repeating what she just heard. The Shadow Clone was more on her. She turned her attention and her expression softened. She takes a deep breath in and sighed outwards, her expression returning to a smile and the color returning to her face as the red from anger started to melt away. "Of course I'm ready to take the hat back. I just needed to take a long nap was all." she said. In the back of her mind, she was trying to calculate information about the heist of the vault. "You know he's gone right? His head was taken from the Vault and his body taken from the Uchiha complex," she stated curtly. She had a couple of theories, mainly surrounding the Uchiha. Her attitude switched once again to a more flippant mannerism. She flicked her braided ponytail over her shoulder. "Besides, I have a Tsuchikage to deal with." |

As the large anthropomorphic fox man mentioned memory erasure, Ningyo stared off into the distance blankly. It was as if a glitch had overcome her system. She suddenly snapped out of it and stopped zoning out, shaking off the little spell so that she could listen in on the conversation.
Ningyo was happy to disengage her shadow clone as per Airi's orders which evaporated with a billowing of smoke. The relief of being free of the drain of the technique was liberating, as she was essentially, a student inclined to chakra control over pure chakra force. She turned her attention to her two superiors who talked politics. From what she could understand they were discussing mainly two topics; first, Airi's possible ascendancy to Hokage, and second, the classified information of Konoha's treasure vault having been robbed. The part about a man whose head and body had disappeared, and something regarding a Tsuchikage, all of that went over her head as Ningyo didn't have the proper information to put it into any context.
Ningyo took the news that fox ears was going to step down with a little surprise. The youth of Konoha were indoctrinated with fierce loyalty towards their Hokage. Even in this brief moment meeting him, Ningyo would have been prepared to carry out his every order, whether to it be to take or spare a life. Still it was all the same to Ningyo, she would simply carry out the writs of execution in Airi's name. A strict Airi Hokage-ship could perhaps strengthen NIngyo's loyalty and resolve.
Airi told Ningyo not to mention that the vault had been robbed. "Mention what? What vault?" said Ningyo as she winked at Airi. Her toned shifted, suddenly she addressed them both openly "Permission to speak freely, I hope I'm not presuming too much..." said Ningyo aware that she amongst her superiors "Only it goes without saying that the security breach, and matter of the items in the vault, be dealt with post-haste. If necessary, consider me at the disposal of my retainers for purposes of identifying the causes. Despite my low-rank, I would be honored to serve my village by attempting to resolve the issue, either alone, or as a part of a team. Only... as you both said, the matter should be dealt with quickly, and by involving as few other other sets of ears as possible."
Ningyo bowed to the two Hokages in servility. Her little speech was given with her intentions on her sleeve. She could not help but hope that she could be of real use to Airi, Fox-ears, and the village in general. Ningyo, in her small amount of mission activity, had noticed that there was some corruption in and near Konoha. If Airi was going to be Hokage, it was for the best to start off on the right foot, and while to carrying out Airi's will, possibly clean up the village and make sure it operated efficiently, if that was to be Airi-Kage's wish.

Tengoku would raise his eyebrows as Airi went entirely stern with her student. One moment she was encouraging but then adult business was put on the table. She was talking like she would to a soldier. Though that was the whole point of his whole no children soldiers policy. They needed to mature to face matters like these. He wouldn't interfere and simply let the two communicate over the weight of the topic. Airi was right to be more cautious than Tengoku was. Often the man was too aloof and forward. An honest man that didn't like the way the world worked. But it was how the world worked. More and more it seemed he would be retiring with rumors of shame forcing him out. If the word of the vault got out and Raijin being revived...he would take a breath. They had more immediate concerns with a foreign Kage of all things. He would expect better from those in power than theft. He still wanted to resolve that peacefully. Still the fact that Airi was confident in her want to take the hat back was a different kind of relief for him. He could retire to just being a guardian of the city.
Still the young lady would say more than a couple words finally and his attention would turn to her. The body being kept in the Uchiha compound was news to him. He had thought it destroyed and the head being the only thing left. Even that he should have incinerated. He felt uneasy about both being gone now. Not sure how immortal that body was. "I don't think you know the weight of the task you are volunteering for. The people that would be capable of skirting our security so effectively are on a different level. We station seasoned jounin to guard the vault and they didn't see a thing. Besides that I need you to understand the level you are volunteering to face. I will demonstrate that to you. Brace yourself young Uchiha."
Tengoku would take a breath. If Airi protested he would hold up a hand. Attempting to indicate to her not to stop him. He would not attack or even activate a jutsu. All Airi would see him do is release his restraints. Flooding his chakra system with both Roen and Sage chakra. Tengoku would shift in a glowing green and blue swirling light enveloping him before fading away. He looked younger now and his hair had shortened and turned black as had his ears. Though a green light lightly would glow around him. The chakra pressure released from his full power though would erupt from him in a pillar of energy. The entire room would shake under their feet as green electricity would crackle through the entire room. Tengoku would glance to the Uchiha with those black and gold eyes. A smirk on his face as the pressure of his chakra would threaten to choke the air out of most jounin. His wolf sage mode always had an adverse effect on his personality.
"So kid. Do you think there is anything you could do? If the suspect thought you were on to them could you defend yourself? You ain't ready yet. A few years too early."
Still the young lady would say more than a couple words finally and his attention would turn to her. The body being kept in the Uchiha compound was news to him. Tengoku would shift in a glowing green and blue swirling light enveloping him before fading away. He looked younger now and his hair had shortened and turned black as had his ears. Though a green light lightly would glow around him. The chakra pressure released from his full power though would erupt from him in a pillar of energy. The entire room would shake under their feet as green electricity would crackle through the entire room. Tengoku would glance to the Uchiha with those black and gold eyes. A smirk on his face as the pressure of his chakra would threaten to choke the air out of most jounin. His wolf sage mode always had an adverse effect on his personality.
"So kid. Do you think there is anything you could do? If the suspect thought you were on to them could you defend yourself? You ain't ready yet. A few years too early."

 Airi cracked a small smile at the child's mannerism regarding her not hearing the conversation of the vault. A small crack in her otherwise tough armor. It was then that Ningyo decided to take on the investigation herself and this put Airi at a bit of unease, causing her to shift around a bit. Her deduction that it might be the very clan that Ningyo belonged to bothered her. She had many friends and even loved ones within the Uchiha clan household but the only technique she could even theorize would do that comes from the Uchiha. Either the Uchiha or the Otsutsuki -- if it was an Otsutsuki that did that, the village would have far more on their plate right now. Tengoku ended up replying to Ningyo before turning to face the current Hokage. The chains were off, the shackles of Gleipnir shed themselves from the hunger of the wolf. Even now, having been the one to seal the power of this creature within Tengoku, even now the very power made her skin crawl. Goosebumps formed upon her flesh as the hairs upon her body stood on end. That disgusting power made her stomach turn. She saw Tengoku's chakra reserves explode. If she didn't know about Roen, she wouldn't know that was the source of his chakra. But the chakra she could track, Senjutsu Chakra, also caused an explosion of chakra to burst through his Chakra Circulatory system. She rolled her eyes and placed a hand upon her hip. "You shouldn't be wasting Senjutsu Chakra like that, Tengoku," she said. Oh, Airi could flex a well, but she also valued her Senjutsu Chakra. When she was younger, she would have fawned over this man in either form he would have taken, finding him to be an absolute heart-throb. However, she simply rolled her eyes and turned to look towards Ningyo. "Sadly, the forces at play right now will just kill you. So we need you to get stronger, alright?" she said as she pat Ningyo on the top of the head. Then everything went completely silent. The sounds of nature vanished and the wind grew still.
Airi paused and her body shook. A deep sense of dread washed over her and her eyes opened wide. Her hand shook as it hovered over Ningyo's head before 6 chains, almost instinctively, tore holes through her kimono and started to move around like serpents seeking out prey. Their movements were erratic as if they were looking for something -- something nearby -- something terrifying. She took a deep breath to compose herself and took a step away from Ningyo. "Tengoku? What the fuck was that?" she asked. The chains would have been drawn towards the delicious power of Roen, but something -- bigger -- was moving about. After a moment, the sounds of nature returned and the wind returned to normal. Airi had a look of pure fear upon her face. This was probably the first time either of them would have seen this kind of expression on Airi's face -- shockingly Tengoku had never seen this expression before from this fiery redhead. Usually quick to anger, quick to analyze, but had never been brought to stone stillness from fear. As the feeling of dread brushed over and resided, her body responded in-kind and her color returned to her as the chains withdrew back into her back. | |

Airi imperceptibly smiled, appreciating Ningyo's humor, a humor that some part of Ningyo couldn't be too sure wasn't more of a Freudian outburst, a wit from the unconscious, as her joke had also been regarding, again, a lack of memory. Ningyo's speech had started off well, to say she was without a certain craftiness would be to deny her heritage. As she got past the words 'I hope I'm not presuming too much,' the energy of the room had already begun to change.
Only, Ningyo had seen the opportunity and taken it. After all, her intentions were of a good nature, to support her superiors, to fuel her innate desire to be exemplary. So she had kept speaking, perhaps not succinctly enough, after all, brevity was the essence of self determination. By the end of what she had thought was a good piece of rhetoric, her superiors were not amused, and it seemed they somehow perhaps even distrusted her.
Before her very eyes the man first began to transform, his words dripping with reprimand. Darkness seemed to surround him. He said that he wanted Ningyo to understand the level she was volunteering to face. Quite dramatically, he activated a certain series of techniques, unfamiliar to NIngyo, his chakra field swirled with green and blue, and his power seemed to increase concurrently. The charmed and frightening aspect of this shinobi's uninhibited transformation did in fact unsettle Ningyo. His tone and look, the seriousness and his new form couldn't help to have been scary as the more experienced shinobi moved inches away from her face, peering as if into her soul with his strange black cross pupiled gaze.
It was something supernatural, enigmatic, that frightened her. For honestly she was not afraid of death itself, hence her ability to offer herself as possible sacrifice for the sake of their goals. It was this ambiguous sense of the otherworldly a terror beyond life and death that Tengoku seemed to evoke with his transformation.
It took all of Ningyo's efforts of self control to overcome the bewildering effects of the intimidation that the wolf-eyed man was serving up. It is true, she was merely a Genin, but deep down, she had not undergone countless uninterrupted hours of confined training, imposed either by the clans, by her own will, or by the very village she now attempted to serve, to be one who meekly avoided confrontation.
The two offered a pseudo-lecture, while Ningyo was still rattled, a subtle pang resounding through her body from wolf ear's display. He had asked what she would do if confronting the suspect, and Airi claimed she would die. Inside the hearts of a few devout disciples of structure, for instance the strict acknowledgment of military chain of command, there is known to be an aberrant strain of anti-authoritarianism. And an argument could be made that this was sometimes the case for Ningyo.
"To die in the service of Konoha is to do only what is expected of me, nothing more." Perhaps it was the rebellious Uchiha blood, that drove the fire in Ningyo to deliver the remark with the slightest touch of determined cynicism. Tengoku would settle a little as he was lectured about wasting valuable senjutsu chakra. He would frown as a green glint shifted through his features. Roen was no fan of hers or his. Still he was bound now under his control. Tengoku had all but mastered him though they had not formed a bond yet. Still the young looking sage Tengoku would click his canines with his tongue before releasing all of it. A puff of smoke and he was standing taller with long white hair again. A more mature version of himself with a hand rubbing the back of his head. Looking away as if a child caught with his hand in the cookie jar. She wasn't wrong but that part of him wasn't going to accept it. Still he would let his golden gaze shift back over to the Uchiha girl. She was stunned for a moment but then she would speak a concerning phrase. He would frown and cross his arms a moment. She was clearly trained in a military style fashion. Bordering on indoctrination. Were the Uchiha really so strict with their youth? Well he knew the answer to that already. A lot was expected of those kids based on the standard set by their predecessors.
"Is that so? But see here is the thing. I am the Hokage and that makes me top dog. Pardon the pun. I can assure you I don't want you to simply lay down your life for the village. I want you to have dreams and connections that last a lifetime. I want you to reach your goals and get to the level I just displayed. Pay attention to your sensei and you will reach that height quickly. Just trust Airi."

Balance was tilting and the ancient demons were reacting. He felt sweat drop down his face and neck. Whatever it was this feeling was stretching far and wide. More than what he alone was capable of. Sensing nothing immediately upon them he would hear Airi speak up in fear. His eyes shifting to her as he swallowed his own down. She wanted to know what in the hells that was and so did he.
"Guard me while I check the nation."
Tengoku would settle into a sitting position. Doing two things as he did so. First was all his movement and chakra use would cease for a moment. He would begin the fragile work of gathering back his Senjutsu chakra. Secondly he would close his eyes. His forehead would glow with a green light before a chakra eye opened in the center. Behind him to chakra sensory his chakra would form a little above him. Forming into a large eye the size of a man and raising to about ten meters before it would open simultaneously with his third eye. Minds eye of the Kagura was active as he searched the entire land of fire. Investigating what was happening. For sensory nin no other technique was its equal. Even the Byakugan did not see all the eye saw.

| Her body had electricity run through it, her synapses flickered and popped as her senses were heightened from the fear she felt. Her eyes turned to the side to scan over Ningyo for a moment and a swift inhalation through her nostrils eased the tension and the desire to not look weak in front of her student filled her body, causing everything to relax. Repeating a mantra to help herself relax helped her settle down and reclaim her emotions. The fear and anxiety over what she felt washed away to a warm smile towards Ningyo. "You'll get your chance, young Uchiha," she chuckled, placing a hand upon the Uchiha's head and ruffled her raven hair. Her palms were still quite clammy from the tension of whatever it was that rocked the planet. She realized what she was doing and looked at her hand for a moment and a look of embarrassment before wiping her palm upon her pants. Airi was the same as Ningyo. While she was a bit more hesitant to making her first kill, opposed to how easily it came to the young Uchiha. She heard Tengoku mention that he was 'top dog' which caused Airi to roll her eyes with a quick puff of air through her frame. What he said wasn't wrong and it'd be something Ningyo would learn when she got older. While he kept talking, he turned to look to Ningyo and nodded her head, agreeing with the words that came from the Hokage; co-signing the words being spoken. What Airi did agree with, for Ningyo, was the fire within her engine. Wherever Ningyo got this determination and nationalism from was beyond Airi, but where she received her firm nationalism were from the words and the promises she made to people she found important to her. One of which she had to kill and the other was the one standing before the two women. Death wasn't something that she took lightly -- those that deserved to die deserved to die but throwing away one's own life was something that resonated with her. Having been one to have tried taking her own life, having recovered from a coma because dark beings stopped her from doing the deed, she now took her own life and lives of those that need to be protected seriously. That and the Elder Gods just wouldn't let her do anything that would actually put herself in mortal danger. "If you really need, I'll give you another mission -- just not involving the heist." she mentioned. It was at this time that Tengoku struck a pose and then ordered the two to guard him while he checked the nation. Her eyes shifted from Tengoku towards Ningyo and nodded with her moving across Tengoku while maintaining her Byakkugan. She knew exactly the technique he was using, seeing the chakra moving around his brain. While he was busy examining the nation, she turned her attention towards Ningyo. "If you might be wondering what we're worried about, something isn't right with the world right now. It feels like something horrifying is approaching," she explained, her voice cracking and speaking in an unintentional vibrato. Tengoku started to activate the Mind's Eye of the Kagura and saw nothing special. The quake seemed to have rocked the entirety of Kishin and he wasn't capable of seeing anything special or different with the Mind's Eye of the Kagura. ---- OOC: Tengoku didn't see anything special -- this is ruling from staff. |

Chains had emerged from Airi, seemingly beyond her control and she cursed in a way that was uncharacteristic of her. Tengoku had seemed unsettled and had entered a trance using a sensory skill Ningyo couldn't identify. These séance-like events, seemed to be in connection with the earthquake, the cause of which was seemingly yet to be divined. Based on their erratic and nervous behavior, the manifestation of chains and ghost-like jutsu, Ningyo intuited that there was an unidentifiable force that was presently radiating some sort of dark vibrations to which Ningyo was insusceptible to, immune and ignorant of. The only other clue available from their conversation was that it was nation-wide or perhaps throughout the entire realm.
All Ningyo had to go on was the tangible reality of their words and physical actions. She had physically felt the earthquake, but there was nothing inherently supernatural in that. They seemed to be sensing something important, grandiose and thereby communicating with each other through that level. Even stealth, which was not just tantamount in her opinion, but in the teachings drilled into her consciousness by the ancestors of her clans, the village, the very milieu of the society and life which she lived and breathed; ninja.

Tengoku would search through the nation. Checking as his chakra mixed in a thin layer everywhere at once. He would spread his senses looking for oddities in almost a frantic way. Nothing in the entire land of fire seemed to be amiss aside from a general sense of fear and panic. The earthquake had shaken more than the world but peoples hearts too. Some out there had sensed a great deal and he was sure this had something to do with the tailed beasts. His own entity was stirring and seemed more feral than before. More like a beast than he would have liked. Still there was nothing. He would check twice more as he flooded his senses. His mind quickly growing exhausted from the extensive search. His third eye would slowly close and he would let out a sigh as a bit of steam escaped from his lips. He would take a deep breath as he gathered himself. In that time he had regained his sage chakra he had spent so he was a hundred percent once more. Still he would be slow to rise to his feet. Airi seemed to have calmed herself as well. Still he would wipe his brow a moment before speaking.
"Nothing...I can't sense anything amiss. Airi as soon as we deal with whatever this threat is the hat is yours again. I am too tired to keep doing this. For now I want you to issue orders. I want shinobi on rotating twelve hour shifts and the ANBU scouting the surrounding forests. Regularly reporting in on the hour. The village is to be on high alert. Those under the rank of jounin I want prepared to guide civilians to shelter. Those ranked Jounin should be on standby to engage at full force. I want everyone prepared. I can feel a fight coming our way."
Tengoku would glance to the young Uchiha a moment as he contemplated something. That self sacrificing attitude wouldn't serve much if she died early.  As the rumbling ended, her chains returned and retreated back into her back as if they were never out in the first place. Airi knew about this power directly after her surgery. The latent powers that resided in her had awakened once an injection of DNA had been re-introduced to her body; almost as if making her body remember who she really was. Nothing she didn't heal instantly from due to her Uzumaki lineage. Tengoku mentioned that he didn't see anything 'special' gave her great comfort and anxiety at the same time. "I'll organize the guard and set people on longer shifts. With your approval, of course," she smirked, turning back towards Tengoku, moving strands of her hair from out of her face.While Ningyo might be one to keep control of her emotions, Airi wore hers upon her shirt. A brightly colored, vivid shirt where her emotions were clearly on display for everyone to see. Airi had no inclination to change how she was, having attempted to prior through Tengoku's teachings to control her rage and anger, but it wasn't something she could really accomplish. She was quick to anger, quick to jump into action (even to her own detriment), and will even appear cold at times due to her lack of hiding who she really was. A weakness that the Elder Gods exploited. No, they wouldn't have offered one of a gentle heart power, but one that was willing to do what it took and one who quickly jumped to violence over a peaceful solution. This was also something that she and her sensei, Tengoku, contrasted. While Tengoku wanted peace, Airi handled through might. However, the one thing the three shared was their love for the village, patriotism for the prison between these heavensward walls. The only difference between the three was how they showed it. Tengoku wanted security through peace and Airi wanted security through might; a variable difference between their styles as Hokage both. Yes, she offered Ningyo ways to tempering her steel resolve for the country and to forge her in the same fires that she was forged with. Hard work and dedication from others. While her patriotism was hammered into her through those important to her, she still sharpened the edge with her own beliefs and her own traumas; something she believed everyone should do. Something she would have to hammer into Ningyo -- to not be a tool but to be her very own person. In time; in due time. She turned her attention back towards Tengoku as he continued to speak. Yes, she would return to the position of the most powerful person in Konoha, one that Ren would probably appreciate. She nodded her head. "Understood, Lord Hokage," she mentioned with a bright smile. The tension was thick in the air. A looming threat that could pierce the tranquility within the village and one that could mean certain doom for several of the shinobi and innocent citizens within the village. She turned towards Ningyo upon his recommendation for learning Multi-Shadow Clone technique and rubbed her chin in thought. Her chakra reserves were quite thin at the moment and shook her head. She lowered her arms down to her side. "She's not ready. She needs more growth before I can teach her that. Perhaps once she has reached Chuunin and her Chakra Pool grows, then perhaps she would be ready to learn that. For now, I would rather she use Shadow Clone responsibly first," she commented. With that, Tengoku exited the training area, leaving only her and Ningyo remaining. Moving more of her red hair out from in front of her face. "Seriously, it's nothing against you. But your body just isn't ready to learn something as complex as that. However, there is a technique I can show you. One befitting of an Uchiha," she commented. Yes, something that all Uchiha should learn. Now it's just a matter of whether or not Ningyo has the capacity to learn it. "But, that might have to wait for another day. | Ningyo's lack of response told Airi everything she needed to know. She nodded her head and readjusted her clothing and uprighted her posture. "Assuming we don't get attacked tomorrow, meet me here and I'll teach you something. Until then," she said as she placed a hand upon her chest and lightly bowed to Ningyo before standing upright and flashing a gentle smile towards the Uchiha child. She had things she had to do today -- alerting the shinobi of an impending danger and to alter the shifts of each shinobi. Re-arrange to 2 thirteen-hour shifts with a one-hour turnover and to remove all days off and recall everyone on vacation until this impending threat has been neutralized or dealt with. With that, Airi turned her back to Ningyo and walked out of the Grand Konoha Training Facility to begin her preparations. | |
